One of the Business' Favorite Reviews What's This?
LA FuXion totally gets it right on the mark. Great tasting tacos (I actually like them a bit better than Kogi) and get this...their tofu tostada is to die for. They ran out of the tuna tostada as well but will definitely order that next time. Their kimchee was tasty and man their service was top notch. Upon delivery of our order, we were notify that they ran out of the tuna tostad and they made it up by giving us a free beef taco coupon and comp us a tufo tostada. Great food and decent price. Most items are between $2 - $3 each. Between my wife and I, lunch came out to $16 buckaroos! Making both our wallet and tummy happy...Yippie!
So one day I decided to see who had the better tacos, the Boolie truck vs LA FuXion....
But you know what? I couldn't compare because I ordered a Korean beef taco al carbon from BOOLS and the Korean steak taco + red sauce from LA FUXION!
and I have to share that the LA FuXion taco was spicy YUMMY! It must have had kimchee in addition to the red sauce because the smell lingered later on my fingers....
but regardless...BOTH tacos were finger licking good!
And I only spent $4 for lunch that day!!! :D
5 stars?? 4 stars?? You are kidding, right??
This food was horrible. I got the $8 combo with Szechuan chicken and tofu.
"Szechuan" chicken: this is that cheap bad chicken you get at those cheap bad fast food fake Chinese food places. Plus it was cold! At least at the fast food places, they are kept in warming trays.
Tofu: tiny cubes of tofu mixed with some sriracha, that's it.
White sticky rice: this was one of the best things in the combo, at least it was warm.
"Mexican" rice: hard, cold, flavorless.
Shrimp "tempura": NOT tempura batter. Stiff and cold.
Kim chi: thank god for kimchi out of a store bought jar--they couldn't mess it up.
Salad: plain lettuce and tomatoes, couldn't mess this up too much either.
What a waste of $8 and my hungry stomach.
Nice truck that has dual LCD televisions mounted on the roof that plays hip hop videos to watch while you eat or wait in line (or with their intentions, i suppose) to order. Too bad their is never really a long line.
As for the food: Weak.
I tried 3 different types of meat tacos. They were very chintzy on the meat for the price. Very plain tasting as well. I had to slather lots of salsa on their tacos to complete the job. Salsa kinda sucks by the way, as well.
The guy taking my order suggested that I try their raw tuna taco. Sorry, dude, NO raw stuff coming from a truck for me. Do you even have fresh running water in there?!? He whispered to me a "Kogi inferiority complex" line: "this is what separates us from the Kogi truck."
I love discovering things by accident...it just so happened that my cousin yelper and I were in the right place at the right time. Adjacent from the parking lot, we saw a food truck and ventured over.
Yelper cousin Linh N. had the taco and ordered a burrito to take home. I had the $3 shrimp tostada which just blew my taste buds away. The presentation of the tostada could have made Gourmet magazine, who knows maybe it already has. Very savory season shrimp bites on top of a Wonton tostada cup with some very citrusy salsa on it hmmm...
The service was wonderful they set out a few plastic chairs and have a plasma TV bumping music videos. The staff of 4 were sweethearts and smiled at us when we took pictures of the food.
I'm tempted to quit my day job and become a full-time LA FuXion groupie. It was love at first bite!
After a night out, my Yelper cousin, Lan Q and I were on our way to my car, until we stumbled upon this taco truck on Hollywood blvd and N Cherokee.
Let's go!!! I said.
Seeming that I was the DD, she had no choice, luckily Lan Q was as excited as I was to eat off food from a truck.
LA or...Latin Asian Fuxion resembles the descriptions of the Kogi Taco truck that people tell me about. They had tacos, burritos, tostadas with your choice of meat which included korean bbq short ribs, rib eye steak, schezuan chicken, mabu tofu, and shrmip. Prices ranged from $2 a taco to $8 for a salad.
As Lan Q mentioned, the presentation was outstanding...so outstanding they make the styrofoam look good. My spare rib or Xogalbi taco ($2) had two 3" tortillas topped with savory sweet bbq spare ribs, onions, lettuce, and spicy Mexican hot sauce as the finishing touch. MMMmm Mmmm good.
One thing to add to the service too...is that the guy stepped out of the truck to point out to the freestanding menu to see if we have any questions. And even though we were their last customers, they let us take our time sitting and eating on their plastic chairs while watching the Black Eyed Peas music video on their LCD flatscreen tv plastered on the top of their taco truck. Oh yeah...tonight was going to be a good night.
LA FuXion was so good, I want to put them in my pocket and bring them everywhere I go.
I was so excited to hear that Fuxion takes credit/debit cards now. You will have to pay tax, but it's great when you don't have cash. Nick, the main guy there is awesome, too. So nice.

Today I tried this truck out of the million trucks lined down Wilshire in front of the Variety Bldg.
The customer consideration and altogether service was great! (There was something wrong with the cc machine, so they gave my meal to me for free because I was waiting. :-))
Also, and of course very importantly, the quality of the food was definitely above average for trucks. I got the Galbi plate - and it came with a bunch of different salsas on top of what you think you're getting. It was tasty and thoughtful.
Altogether, I think these are really nice people who care about what they are doing. You can taste it - please check them out and enjoy!
LA FuXion in DTLA on Grand Avenue for lunch?! I'm there.
My taste buds are on fire! I just finished eating a tuna tostada from LA FuXion and it was AMAZING. Imagine...
A scoop of tuna poke on a crispy mini tostada bowl. Oh man! Too good. The fresh chopped tuna smothered in spicy mayo sauce was mind-blowing. Slightly spicy and sweet with a creamy texture, I would be happy just eating this stuff with rice. Doesn't it look amazing: http://static.px.yelp....
::Drool::
A trip to this fusion taco truck would not be complete until I ate a signature taco, therefore I tried a galbi short rib taco. Mmm! The meat was well-marinated and tender, topped with onions, lettuce, kimchi, and salsa (I chose red, but they had green, too). The tortilla was even good! I hate places with rough, dry tortillas or even soggy ones.
Cost? $3 for tostadas and $2 for tacos.
I will be updating my review for LA FuXion, as I've only had 2 items:
the Xuna tostada and the Xulgogi taco.
I absolutely love the Xuna tostada. I drove by Miracle Mile by accident last Thursday and had that and the Xulgogi (which was decent too). On Tuesday the food truck brigade was once again on Miracle mile so I had the Xuna tostada.
Maybe because I am a big fan of Tuna Sashimi/Tartare ? Perhaps...It works well with the cripsy tostada. I love it!
Another food truck! I've tried this a couple times. I really like the tuna sashimi tostada thing, good sauce on the tuna and tomatoes on a crunchy tostada chip. The tacos were OK, a bit on the greasy side and lots of kimchi. I think the Kogi tacos are better. I've also tried the bulgogi bowl, in the pictures, it shows the meat served with yellow rice. But when I got it, it was just plain white rice. Boohoo. Will only come back for the tuna tostada ($3).
I checked out this truck again and decided to update my review. I didn't have any traumatizing experiences or anything, but I noticed I may have overrated this the first time. The second time around I ordered the Bulgolgi bowl, Pork Taco, and short rib taco. Everything was quite average but I still enjoyed it. I like their variety, but it seems like some of their food is just not that special. I will still try it again, but not go out of my way. Overall rating is now a 4 as my food rating went down to a 3.6. Still got love for the truck, but don't love the truck.

This was my best food truck week, as I checked off my 18th LA specialty food truck. After looking… Read more »
A friend of mine does marketing for this taco truck and invited me to try it out. So finally, on Friday night, the boyfriend and I went to the San Gabriel Superstore to track them down. Friend said they were going to be there around ten. We showed up at ten thirty and there was no sign of them (minus one star for tardiness) So we waited and they finally showed up around 11:00pm.
We ordered a bunch of the galbi tacos and they were really delicious. The meat was nice and tender. The marinade was quite tasty as well. They have two kinds of salsas, a green one (which I gather was the mild one) and a red one. They also top their tacos with chopped onions, cilantro and a mild kimchi. The boyfriend and friends thought that the tacos could use some more fixins, but I was perfectly happy.
Since we were the first ones there and were waiting for a while in the cold, one of their marketing guys (I think his name was Jeong) gave us two for free, which I thought was a really nice gesture.
I've had the kogi tacos before and I have to say that I like these tacos more. They were really generous with the amount of meat in each of the tacos. Unlike kogi, you can really taste the quality of the meat and the different flavors of the marinade. They were extremely fast and efficient. After our order was taken, we received it in less than five minutes.
I highly recommend and wish that they would stop by where I work (Santa Monica & Sepulveda) so that I can have some for lunch.
Trucks, trucks, trucks, trucks. So many trucks. Most with the asian-latin mix going on. But this place really does it well. Yes, they throw and X into the names of all the dishes, making you trip a little upon ordering, but the staff is super friendly and always knows what your talking about. The galbi short ribs are sweet and the tofu has great texture and a nice spice to it. And unlike some of the other trucks, this one has a full cook staff who you can actually see cooking your food after you order.
This truck also has a good selection of unique beverages, and a frequent buyer card (only 3 more stamps before my free taco!!!)
While Kogi is still the standard, i would definitely recommend checking this truck out if its ever in your area.
Look mom, I'm not a "fusion taco truck" virgin anymore!
I love LA, because it is the birth-mother of all things that are Asian-Latin-cheap-street-food-from-a-truck!! I got 3 Xogalbi tacos for $6. They're currently doing a recession-friendly thing where you don't have to pay tax! How sweet of them. Plus they are just sweet people in general, coming out and asking us how the food is while they're on their breaks.
anyway, the tacos were so good! The fusion of Latin and Asian flavors were practically seamless! I expected the fusion to be a little awkward, but it wasn't at all. Sweet meat, spicy kimchi, some lettuce and cilantro to lighten it up so it doesn't taste too heavy, heaped on top of Diana's corn tortillas... yuummmmmm..... it alllllll works!
Now if only they would come a lil closer to the South Bay, I would show them my love each and every week (except I'll probably stay away from the Kung Pao something or other that they had... not sure how I feel about a Kung Pao chicken tostada or taco...). Why are there no trucks in the South Bay?? :(
I was invited by a friend to try out a new truck that featured a fusion of latin and asian flavors, I'm a bit of an old school when it comes to eating off trucks but I was curious since there seems to be new types of food trucks coming out that it would be good to keep current.
My friend and a friend of hers it turns out have started a new venture with this truck, the idea was hatched by them after patronizing trucks in LA and thinking they could do better. On one side is Korean and the other is Latin, their menu incorporates beef and pork, tofu and short ribs, and even kung pao chicken! Have a look at their website to get the full list, it's a good site by the way!
So, being the taco man I am I ordered a couple of the spicy pork. The portions were generous and came on a nice styro foam tray. I dug in happily as my friend saw to other customers, the pork was moist and the mix of cilantro and cabage gave it a light taste. The spicy part began to kick in then and it was just the right amount of heat for me, I can usually eat about one jalapeno and I'm done! Well, those two tacos where gone in a flash! I was very impressed!
I was also impressed with their setup. There was a little bit of a crowd when I arrived, I looked for my friend so I didn't order right away. After she thanked me for coming I was asked what I'd like, I chose the spicy tacos and I was asked my name by this what seem to be a waiter. They have actual staff working the sidewalk as if it were a restaurant, no line to stand in at a window! And as one might then wait for one's order there is music played through rooftop speakers and 2 large LCD screens to gaze upon that feature the matching video of the music!
Stop by this truck when in the Hollywood area, you won't be dissapointed!
food is a solid 4 for a food truck and the service is fantastic and efficient, so I'm bumping it up to 5. The kalbi is flavored well and the fusion rice is just salty enough to balance out the sweet flavored meat. I like their green salsa too. This place actually tastes like a fusion of korean and mexican flavors, unlike some of the other trucks that are basically not quite right tasting korean food in a taco shell.
Did I mention they are super fast and efficient for a truck that actually cooks the food in front of you?
Comes close to Kogi in awesomeness.
I saw this truck on Wilshire near the Wiltern and since I was starving I stopped. The line moves really quick and they were handing out drink coupons, which is great! I ordered the XBQ plate which is Short Ribs, Fuxion Rice and Salad since it didn't say anything about cilantro or onions and the tacos and burritos had those 2 things listed.
Well Ta-Da! It was delicious the Short Ribs were tender and tasty and came off the bone without a fight, the Fuxion Rice was so good I would have been happy with just that plus it came with 4 tortillas FOUR TORTI LLAS! (For some reason I'm really excited about that)
They have flat screen TVs on the side of the truck and I guess tonight was Michael Jackson night (That Jam song live and loud) but even with that it was worth it, I'll be looking for them again.
I've had the xogalbi burrito from this place not to long ago and it was just awful. I literally almost gagged after my first bite. It just seemed like the food wasn't prepared correctly and had been sitting out for some time. I've been trying out the food trucks in LA for quite some time now and it seems like everyone is just bringing out the trucks just to milk some of the success the industry has been seeing with Kogi. None of these businesses seem to really care what they're cooking on the menu and just bringing out a minor modification of what Kogi has already introduced. Seriously, where is the innovation to these foods? Where is the flavor explosion? Check out http://www.findlafoodt.../, trust me there's much better places and they're continuing to add more.
The food is straight up quality! This falls under GREAT FOOD for any consideration... for a taco truck to a restaurant. I have tried Kogi, Calbi and some other taco trucks out there. LA Fuxion is definitely on par with Kogi if not surprisingly better. They are always updating their menu too, from Korean to Chinese to Japanese. You guys must try to sashimi one, it is actually the owner, David's personal favorite. TRY IT if you haven't, you guys can demand or request for them to stop by an area near you!!!
LA FUXION possibly Kogi's kryptonite??
I heart this truck! I like it better than Kogi, less hectic and the tacos better in my opinion. What really rocks though is their tuna tostada...super yummy! I could eat 10 of those, although that would set me back a pretty penny.
Loss of star is due to the fact that their Twitter updates are not that frequent and when I checked their website they said they were going to be at La Brea and 3rd on 9/24, and the guy who took my order on 9/23 said they are there every night but when I drove there around 9 pm there was no sign of them. Boo! I was really craving the tuna tostadas after a 13 hour workday. To add insult to injury I had just missed the Kogi truck...saw it drive away...
I saw this bright orange truck on 3rd and La Brea when I was driving back from LuLu's and man was I glad that I stopped by. I wasn't too hungry so i decided to grab something small so I ordered the Tuna Tostada (it had a X or something in front). It was delicious. It had the right amount of spice, sweet, and crunch. It was made to order and it came out very quick. I will definitely be coming back here again.
