60% people really working out.  40% highschool kids hanging out with their buddies on machines that you want to use but you cant because theres a group of 15-17 year olds talking about that new soulja boy dance.  i guess its because i go during the evening hours.  on that note, dont try to go here between 5-7p. no parking. 10a-3p best times to go.

This was the closest gym so I swung by to check it out. They have 3-4 racquet ball courts, a swimming pool, a basket ball court, and a big spinning room (aside from the usual cardio and gym equipment). Free weight area has only about 7-8 seats (flat, incline, upright, etc) but that seems to be the trend nowadays. Plenty of bar flat and incline benches though. They do have a decent amount of machines and the cardio bikes/treadmills are upstairs. No towel service so bring your own. Anyway, I've only been there twice but even around 5-6pm its not too crowded.

The best part was 100 to 200 clams for joining and the monthly was 35 with no contract.  Definitely a lot cheaper than what they would have charged back east.

In the end, I finally got to play ball again in like two years. Of course after one pickup game I was beat... getting soooooo old.

pros...great place to get fit, they have just about everything. racquetball courts, basketball court, pool, weights, bikes, t.v.s while you work out.  loud thumping music, spin classes, boxing, aerobics classes, etc.  they even have juice bar in there too. i was in there just checking it out and also had a free pass for it.  but from what i was told by the sales person, that these are all cookie cutter gyms, same thing in all of them.  but nice big place, crowded too..  i think this one is celebrating it's 5 year anniversary.

cons...some of the most pushiest people around.  both the sales people.  i know it's their job, but wow, did i feel pressured.  the people there also were a little pushy as well.  didn't get such a great vibe.  people at this one didn't seem like they were really working out to work out.  seemed like a giant meat market.  but hey get it anyway you can, i guess.  so two stars off for pushy people in here.

I want to start off that I've been going to the gym and working out for about 10 years consecutively, therefore I have experience working out on the machines. I signed up with LA fitness about two years ago. I pay $25 a month, no contract while at 24 hour fitness I paid $40. So it was cheaper for me to go to LA Fitness. I've been going to LA fitness at least 4 days a week. I've been to several gyms, and I believe that LA Fitness is by far the best. The gym has well circulated a/c and doesn't have that musty smell that I find often at gyms that are very small (i.e 24 hour fitness off camino del rio north). The locker rooms are nice, with tvs and wooden lockers. The equipment/machines are well maintained, and there is always some employee wiping down the machines.

The reason why I gave it 3 stars out of 5 is the personal trainers. For the past two years I have had one personal trainer come up to me to have a free session, at least once a month, if not once a week. It gets to the point that it is annoying. I kept saying that I am not interested and I can't afford a personal trainer. I was on a machine and a personal trainer interrupted my workout, and I even had my ipod on! He told me that he's seen me working out and their are things I can approve on. I understand, but I can't afford $250.00 a month on a trainer. There are times I feel they are stalking me and they know my daily workouts. One day LA Fitness provided free mexican food  to the members, and of course you can't get free food without a trainer pounding on you to try a free session. I've observed the gym and mostly they target women.

In the past gyms that I have attended to, this gym is by far the best facility, but the personal trainers are just annoying. I know other gyms have personal trainers that persuade you, but not as much as LA Fitness.

This is the best gym I've been to.  Lots of machines for when I'm feeling lazy or I don't have someone to spot me.  Tons of free-weight benches, and elliptical machines and treadmills with TV's so you can tune in on your mp3 player and listen to Seinfeld or the news.  The part that sold me is the swimming pool and sauna.  I show up 3-4 times a week at 5AM and its always empty, clean, and full of chlorine (don't forget to bring your goggles or you'll be pulling off the freeway in morning traffic to **involuntarily** cry your eyes out from the acidic burning sensation that is unleashed upon you for your negligence.)  My only complaint is sometimes when I get off of work I want to go lift and relieve some stress and finding an empty machine makes finding Jimmy Hoffa a walk in the Giants Ballpark.  From about 5-8, you are walking into an absolute clusterf***.  There's always some goof trying his hardest to do a single set of 45's on the bench-press or some hairy, sweaty gorilla (without a towel to wipe down the machine I might add) on the cable flys.  From personal experience the best times to go are from 430AM-6AM and 730PM-Close.

I'm not sure how much a new membership and enrollment is nowadays, but all the reps are sales sharks at heart and they want that commission.  If you have a silver tongue you shouldn't have a problem working out a deal for your benefit.

This is a great place to work out.  I switched from the South Bay YMCA over a year ago and have never regretted it.  There are plenty of free weights, machine weights, and cardio equipment to go around.  The personal trainers do a pretty nice job working with their clients.  I would give this place 5 stars if it weren't for the TVs.  It absolutely drives me crazy when they change channels for a television event at night and they don't change it back in the morning for ESPN for Sportscenter.  I have literally asked for one of the TVs to be changed to ESPN once a week for the past 6 weeks.  They haven't changed it yet.  The other thing that drives me nuts about this gym is that the members do an extremely poor job of re-racking their weights after they're done with them.  I've used several other gyms in the past and this is by far the worst for re-racking.  Other than those two complaints - I love this place!
