OMG, the Bearnaise is so good, it must have had fresh tarragon in it, totally makes the Filet Mignon entree.
I love this restaurant, the drinks, food, atmosphere, music, I enjoy the whole package.
The only small complaint I have this time, is I wish the music were a bit louder, but maybe that wouldn't have been the choice of the other diners ;)

CAVEAT: I DID NOT ACTUALLY EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT...MY REVIEW IS MERELY BASED ON AN INTERACTION WITH THE PURPORTED OWNER THAT ASSURES I WILL NEVER DINE THERE.
I need a place to eat in Tahoe for 6 people. Striking out for reservations. I Call La Ferme. I get an answering machine. I leave a message saying I'm looking for a reservation for 6 Saturday night at 8 and asking that they call me back on my cell phone to let me know if they have availability. I made this call form my work line because my cell was charging.
Couple hours later, I've already made reservations at Edgewood (which was another disappointing mess...see my review of Edgewood for details). Receptionist buzzes me..."I have a guy with a thick french accent asking if you called him regarding reservations." me: yeah, I did, tell him I already found something and thanks anyway. Receptionist hangs up. Comes in the office several minutes later. "that guy was weird and rude...he insisted that he speak with you so I put him into your voicemail."
Well I left that day without checking my voicemail (I was on my way out for a long weekend). Saturday in Tahoe comes. 7:15 pm my cel phone rings. I hear a french accent: "I am calling to confirm your reservation at La Ferme this evening." I reply "Hold on a second, I never made a reservation at La Ferme." Response "I beg your pardon but you did, I am the owner and I spoke with you personally myself." I reply "no, you didn't. you spoke with my receptionist in response to my inquiry as to whether you had availability and she was told to tell you that I was no loner interested." Response "I left a voicemail message confirming the reservation." I reply, "wait, I thought you spoke to me personally...now it was a voicemail message?" Response "I do not appreciate this sir! You are not a man of your word and you are very rude!" and he hangs up.
Um....WTF just happened?!?!?!? Anyhow, the food here may be glorious for all I know...it may cause angels to cluster around your table and sing. It may cause divine pleasure the likes of which you have never before experience....but you know what? I'll never find out because of this bizarre encounter.
AMAZING, the food was wonderful. The setting was so relaxing and calming. We had outside dining on a beautifully set patio. Our waitress was wonderful and you can tell the owner takes pride in the quality of his restuarant. Can't wait to come back and try a unique new dish.
Oui, I had a friend who owed me ze money, no? I said to him, "Take me to ze French restaurant and we will call it even." So we went, and ze food, it was delicious, and ze restaurant charming, unhurried, as ze restaurant should be, no? Ze owner comes to ze table, to make sure everytheeng is OK. Having never had ze French food before, I have nothing to compare it to- zis is "Country French," I am told. It was a special dining experience as I understand they only do one sitting. You are there to eat, have conversation, enjoy ze food and ze wine, no? A place to go for a dining experience instead of just shoveling food in ze pie hole.
I've heard of this place for years and finally had the La Ferme experience. Away from the crowds in Southlake, down in lovely Genoa, across the Genoa Bar. Ate outside in the lovely patio garden - completely charming setting. Homemade frech bread, foi gras superb, heirloom tomatoe salad delightful. The entrees were mixed. Nice wine list. Service was a bit slow, perhaps we need to slow down! Will come again.
I LOVE this place!!!Great atmosphere, delicious food, you have to try the homemade pomm frittes.Truly a culinary experience!Gilles( the owner) is a perfect host.

Outstanding food. The best fine dining for 50 miles around, maybe 200.

I would like to thank my parents for introducing me to this location. They eat hear about once a week and swear by it. So naturally when their son comes for a visit, they take me out to Le Ferme.
This is a very small place in a small town. It's basically an old Barn converted into a 5 star French restaurant. It's a nice cozy restaurant with two sections.
Section one greats you with a small bar and a living room feeling complete with antique couches, chairs, and a wood burning fireplace. Talk about a warm cozy introduction upon entering the restaurant. Along the walls and furniture lays pictures of famous people all signed and committing to the owners of the restaurant. These guys are famous themselves and have cooked for people such as Marlon Brando.
Section two is the main Dinning room which is the "barn" area. It too is nice and cozy accompanying 10 or so tables. The service here is top of the line! The menu is small but contains extremely tasty Entres that are to die for. They have a fine list of French wines and champagne. The dessert menu is another winner, the best Creme Brulee I've ever had!
Everything about this place rings in 5 stars. It is fine dinning, high class service, and overall a must try. You will not be disappointed. My parents were correct and every time I visit you will catch me in La Ferme.
Note: This is not a "walk in" restaurant. You MUST make reservations before hand. Please do remember that before coming out to La Ferme. I've seen people leave disappointed because they figured this location was a walk in. Trust me, it's worth every penny and taking the extra time to confirm a reservation.
La Ferme is hands down one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at. I'm in love! Who would of thought...a 5 star french restaurant located in such a small little area. There was 7 of us at dinner, we had reservations and I was very impressed that they were ready to seat us as soon as we arrived. I've so frequently had to wait a few minutes even with a reservation at other places so that was great. We all ordered different items and then tried bites of each others delectable delights. There wasn't a thing served that wasn't absolutely fantastic!! The soup, salad, appetizer, cappucino, entree, dessert...all of it was amazing. And to top it off friendly excellent service. I definitely recommend giving this wonderful little place a try. A little pricier than many local restaurants, but still less than you would pay for equal quality in the city and well worth it.
The food was very good!
It was nice to find such a quaint restaurant in such a small town, but yet be able to enjoy 5-star cuisine!
The restaurant is small, but that is a nice change of pace from all of the overly large -- let's stuff as many folk in here as possible - and just enjoy a quiet dining experience.
The owner is definitely hands on. The bread served is his own recipe and the greens in the salad come from his garden. He also served the meals to all the patrons - even though there are waitresses.
The only downside is...the place is pretentious. I got the feeling the owner was snotty. I also noticed him talking to our waitress when we were leaving. He spent time chatting with the other guests (there were only 3 tables including ours at the time) but never came over to talk to our table.
I have no idea what we did....so because of that incident is why I am giving the place 3-Stars.
I have not eaten at this restaurant for some time but recently, on a nice breezy Aug evening I decided to have dinner there. The restaurant serves only dinners during summer on the patio ( new concrete floors) and during winter , in a cozy and eclectic dining room. During summer one dines under conopy of a chestnut tree and huge cottonwood !!
Very small menu but whatever they serve is well prepared and served.
This time I had escargots ( excellent) and sweetbreads (wonderful sauce). Good espresso and yummy deserts.
Why is the restaurant called La Ferme ? Because it's like many French Country ( in France) restaurants , unpretentious and includes
a cute "farm" of animals nearby - chickens, ducks, a llama and two wonderful dogs !!
