Recently went to La Covacha for their NYE party.

$25 ticket, not bad compared to other locations. We had a table reserved , had a bottle,  place was set us pretty nice. They served some good food , which was included with the ticket, and they had free drinks going on till 12am
I've heard not so nice things about this place, so was hesitant to go..but all in all it turned out OK

This place has great music and a latin feel to it.  You will not like this place if you prefer Brickell or Sobe upscale crowd. However, if you want to get down with good music - it's great. Best to go in a group, because picking up guys there is not fun- unless your 18 and love 'real type' hispanic guys.. A younger crowd.  I also recommend this place for tourist that want a local club and a lot of latin people.

HAHA, this place is a trip. Went there after partying in brickell on St. Patty's day. It is a few blocks from my house and we decided to have a last one before hitting the sack. It was packed as usual and the music was pumping. The one thing we had to overlook was that it was college night, and you know what that means...

A bunch of 18-22 year old kids thinking they are ballers. Daddy yankee style... HAHA funny to look at these kids frontin... We did have a lot of fun inside dancing, the outside was packed too. This place is kinda like the place you do really say you go to, but it satisfies your need to party close to home...

Oh, btw, Venezuela has taken over this joint. I mean, It used to be mixed and all nationalities, but now they out rank all while they are living off daddy's money and success.

I am not a big fan of La Covacha - mainly because it's far from me. On Saturday, I went for the Miami Rock Live show, where Jose Luis and my hubs played with Minimal.

I have to gladly admit that the crowd was a pleasant mix of people from all nationalities, both indoors and outside where the show was playing. The music inside for the most part was danceable and fun - though they had some sets that I wasn't particularly fond of - but I guess you could say there was something for every one.

I was impressed with the security at this place. Everyone was nice, no mean-looking security guards, and most of all - NO FIGHTS - I'd like to hope there weren't any, but I can certainly guarantee you there wasn't one anywhere around me; and I was there for 8+ hours.

The shows were fun (6 bands) and the crowd was lively and full for all the shows. Even the last band, which played at 4 a.m., still packed the house. I think I'd go back to this place for any other good live show, as far as to go dancing, I'd rather find a Latin place closer to me. But for those who live around the Doral area, I have to say, La Covacha has really changed since I first went there back in 1994.

Oh... La Covacha. I've been going to this Latin club for about 8 years now. It's right next to my house and it would let me in when I was underage. If you're a glam person stay far far far away from this dancing hole. It's down and dirty and full of "chongas" as some might put it. But nothing beats their friday night happy hours and amazing old-style latin music. Fridays are the best nights to go.

If you get there around 7pm you can get in for free and enjoy their two for one drinks and $1 beers. Before midnight they tend to stick to none-techno music. Although I havent been there in a couple of months, so I don't promise anything.

This is a great place to go when you have nothing to do on a friday night and need to blow off some steam on the dance. Beware of the creepy "viejos verdes" and wear comfty shoes. Parking is also a bit of a hassle. Most people park across the street at the bank. Good luck!

I've never been to La Covacha before.
This time I went for the MiamiRockLive- Rock en Español event.

Must say I'm very impressed with the organization and security.
Will call tickets - only took 2 minutes to get mine.  Security searched everyone, making sure we were all safe inside.  There was a lot of people with no incidents (that I know of).  Space was big enough for everyone, with good sound - everyone was able to enjoy the shows.

Inside they have a room with Latin music, so in between band changes I was there dancing  :p

Good place for these type of events.

If it didn't feel like I was being followed around by all of the bouncers, perhaps it would have been a more enjoyable place to have a drink and some appetizers. A group of us went to La Covacha and from the moment we got that, I felt instant discomfort. Right after I walked up to the bar, one of the bouncers asked if any of us were under 21. None of us were, so it wasn't a problem. But for the rest of the night, every where I turned, there was a bouncer walking around. It was like being at an art museum that has the docents following you around every where you go to make sure you don't touch something.

Aside from the over the top security, the food was pretty decent - the pizza was pretty amazing the happy hour drink special was really good. Despite the good food, I felt uncomfortable the entire time - almost like we were not wanted there. Needless to say, we won't be going back.

this place is horrible u will die from the heat cause this place has no air conditioning and the enterance is mad expensive. and the people that work there are so mean. u would get tired of dancing and coming here due to the extreme heat. i say go dance at ur home or party at home with is much better all u gonna do is wate money just to dance and fool around strangers. why no party at home and put the music u like to dance to and just u and ur friends. clubing is soo blahhhh im tired of it when i set foot to this club  and every other club.

Seriously people, what is this place still doing open, I've been going since i was 16 years old and now I'm 28. Every time i go, because is so close or because we don't want to drive to far to party, we end up here and is always horrible!!!!! so I made myself and my friends promise that no matter how drunk or how desperate we are we will never go back. back in the day it was fun. But the music they play is still the same since '98 and they don't have control of how many people they let in this place, if you need to use the restroom it will take at list 30 min to get there because is so crowded. Last time we got a table and the give you the cheapest bottles you can imagine. So please avoid this place.....

La Covacha, or the Cove to college students (please don't call it the cove...) is not my favorite place. I used to go here when I was in high school because it was the only place I could get in. Now I only go here early on Friday nights to pre-game for better places because the beers are on special. The guys here are generally creepers so girls, if you are going alone, bring a token gay friend or something to keep the hoards of creepy old latin guys off you.

They did a nice job of renovating it -- it used to be 4 walls and a straw roof. I'll give them credit -- they are trying to class the place up. But in the end, it's generally hard to get my friends to go and the only way I go in by getting bribed into $2 beers.

When you drive up to the club you expect to hear the bass of an indoor club, but this club was playing music beautifully that you could hear it outside as well.  When you walk in the colors and the exceptional look and feel of a restaurant turned nightclub turned beautifully well.  I loved every second of it, from the sounds of the best upcoming DJs I have heard.

Talking from a DJs perspective, I loved their beat matching and their pitch-shifting was seamless and sounded as if it was one song.  There was a great mix of all types of Latin music and some American dance music as well.  The crowd was wonderful, but there was one problem though . . . that most of the girls there were taken, and dancing with their guys.  I danced with friends I bring, and it was still insane and fun, but there needs to be more single girls, so come females!

Well, La covacha is a great option if you live in the Doral Area. Since I do, it's very convenient b/c u wont be doing much driving. Just watch out for the cops who usually park outside...so try to assign a designated driver. I've been celebrating my bday there for the past 2 years and is great! I usually reserve the ViP section which is pretty much secluded from the rest of the club and gives u a feeling of having a private party with ur own personal dj.  I love it there! Plus when u get the vip, bar is open from 10-11:30pm!. A bottle of grey goose is $250..not bad...and everyone u invite gets in for free bf 12.

Tacky colombian bar, full of people attracted by the 1 dollar beers till 8PM. My 4 dollar mojito (2 for the price o 1 was the worst ever!).  So, I would prefer to pay 8 dollars for a better one.
