In my opinion the best freaking burrito in the city. For me it's always the Super Steak and Prawn burrito. Always consistently tasty as well as crowded. Such is the price you pay for getting a top notch burrito. Though this is my favorite thing to eat here everything else I have had has been fantastic as well. Please see for your self.

Shrimp burritos, mmm mmm gooooooooooooood!

When I use to live back East and came home, before heading back out I'd stop here to get some grub for the plane and more.  I'd get burritos for my friends and they'd look forward for the hand delivered treats!

I've been going here since it started.  The people are nice, service is great, and good people watching at the Glen Park location.

Sad to say, the Burlingame Avenue location isn't the best...  Doesn't have the same SF feel but still good eats.

I started eating at La Corneta about 2-3 years ago. For a while I loved the place, but my last few visits have been marked by higher prices and food that just doesn't taste as good as it used to. I love the restaurant, but lately my experiences have not been as good as before.

It's typically like all the other taqueria's out there, so I can't say too much about it. But it's close by to where I stay at, their food is decent, though not mouth-watering. The best thing about it though is that when you order nachos, they give you a TON of it. It's insane and that's why I like it here.

After a two month absence, I return to La Corneta to discover the prices have gone up a dollar, at least for the baby super burritos. Unfortunately, while prices have risen, the quality of food has declined. My burrito was incredibly bland and mysteriously cold for some reason even though I consumed it immediately after its preparation.

Our relationship has withered and I feel as if I barely know you anymore LaCorneta, mi corazon. Sadly, I think it's time that we went our separate ways. La Corneta, I bid you adieu.

i give this 4 stars only because the "super tacos" i order are ALWAYS bomb, but you MUST talk them through everything you want ... and Yes ... they did raise the prices and that sucks because the food isnt worth the price, i bet they just have to pay the new minimum wage for The City.

The food is good and the parking lot around the corner is free (the gravel lot)

if you show up during "prime" food hours, you will wait a little bit because the line gets beefy...

if you want simple items with little changes...phone the order in....also they dont take CREDIT/DEBIT ... but major atms are all over the area....

I can't say at this point anything makes La Corneta stand out more than any other taqueria and that's why it gets three stars.
The flavors were good and the service was patient. the decor is simple and the Our Lady of Guadalupe painted on the wall is swell. They also let you get all your taco needs to go in little plastic bins if you don't want to have them make them for you.

When I moved to GP a couple of years ago I was ECSTATIC to have a taqueria in my neighbourhood. Unfortunately the enthusiasm ended at the threshold. Sadly, I've experienced poor service, a cold burrito, and poor pricing--twice. I've eaten a lot of burritos in my life and this place just doesn't compare to many places here in SF. Despite better seating, being closer to home, and slightly cheaper prices--I'd still bypass this place and take BART to the Mission for my burrito fix. The salsa is watered-down, the Hot Sauce is anything but hot and the staff can't be bothered. My guess is if there was an alternative place, any place for that matter, to get a burrito in Monterey Heights/Sunnyside/Glen Park--this place would have a serious run for their money. Save yourself the time and go two BART stops up towards the Mission and find yourself a really good meal that won't leave you wishing you'd not given $8 away.

This place use to be one of my favorite "broke man's" spot.  I use to come here and get a baby burrito for under $5.  I finally returned back and was shocked that their prices went up.  Even with the increase, their burritos are still a great buy.  Their baby burritos fill me up but for all you fat @sses, their reg burritos will do the trick.

I will always love this place - even if I don't live anywhere near it anymore. When I do have a hankering, I'll drive up to their new location in Burlingame. My meal of choice - steak and shrimp anything! Usually the baby burritos but the other night I tried their super quesadilla and I ate the WHOLE thing (and these suckers are BIG). Wash it down with some Negra Modelo and you're good to go!

I took away a star just because when they remodeled the place they didn't  accommodate the line that sometimes awkwardly winds around the tables in the dining area.  Other than this oversight, the food is great!  I usually get the super tostada with chicken or if I'm feeling vegetarian I get a burrito with spicy tofu.  If I know it is going to be busy I call in my order so when I get there I can go straight to the register.  This strategy is also good if you need to order takeout for several people.

My favorite neighborhood taqueria. This place is a religious experience, and everyone in Glen Park/Excelsior knows it. There is *ALWAYS* a line out the door, so that should tell you something! The ingredients are fresh, and the aguas frescas & horchata are to die for. The wait in line is long, but worth it. If you're a meat lover, get what I always get: the steak & prawn super burrito on a spinach tortilla. But everything in there is good, so you can't go wrong. If this place goes out of business, I'm walking to the Golden Gate Bridge to jump!

A few things I like about La Corneta:

1) It's open late
2) The food is stellar
3) It's convenient

The main thing I do not enjoy:

1) I'm always reminded of the Led Zeppelin song 'Communication Breakdown' whenever I attempt to order.

But please do eat here, the menu is vast.  The chile rellenos are AMAZING.  As they ladled it on my plate my eyes bulged with lust at it's ripe, green skin, the batter bursting out of every orifice.  The guac is divine, and holy shit, the MELON AGUA FRESCA!  It brought me to my knees.

I for the life of me cant finish a whole burrito. I cant even do damage to a regular burrito. So I was delighted when I spotted the 'baby burrito' at La Corneta.

Tonight I opted for the super steak & prawn quesadilla (I guess a mini version of surf & turf). Big spinach, yes spinach, tortilla with chunks of carne asada, huge prawns and gooey cheese topped with mild salsa...oh baby! My other half had the super steak that was bursting with chicken and all the other usual ingredients a burrito is suppose have. Plus he managed to polish off an order of crarne asada nachos ( I hate guys for their fast metabolism). The downside is that yet once again the mango juice had pieces of the fruit flesh in there (you know that stuff that get stuck in between your teeth when you eat mango). I keep hoping that they'd make a batch without that and yes I have said something to them.

During lunch it's busy with the line out the door (where the heck do these people come from Glrn Park is not that busy, is it?) The service is cool, hey they make my order right every time.

With the wonderful array of Mexican food in the Mission, this place is a cut above the rest.  With three tortilla options, you could at least feel a bit better about opting for a whole wheat or spinach tortilla even if whats inside is going to cost you major treadmill damage. My favorite dish.....Super Prawn Quesadilla!  But its definitely a plate to share, the portions here are huge.

Great lengua (beef tongue).  I checked this place out with a friend recently.  I had two tacos, one carne asada and the other lengua.  I was very surprised with the lengua...very tender and a light tomato sauce.  The tacos are so filled with meat that you can't pick them up.  Next time I'll just have a lengua plate with rice and beans.  Very tasty aguas frescas...I had the melon.

They are busy around lunch time and parking can be a little difficult.  The place is also very clean.  I'll have to check-out the Burlingame location soon.

The situation: I was hungry and had just gotten off BART at Glen Park, and was feeling like having some Mexican food.  The solution: La Corneta Taqueria.

I went with the a selection from the "specials" column of the menu - two chicken tamales with rice and beans.  Here's how I break it down:
tamales - i really liked 'em.  best part of the mea.
rice: okay
beans: okay
They cover the tamales in cheese.  Maybe not the most healthy, but I can deal.

Their cleaning guy was a bit obtrustive to the dining experience...to the point that if CYE's Larry David were eating there, he'd have taken issue. But yes, the place is fairly clean, though I did have to wade through a couple dirty utensils before finding a suitable fork.  That brings me to a couple reasons I had to lower this place's rating: plastic utensils and they only take cash.   It's 2008, get with it.

I'd go here again for convenience, but I think there are better taquerias in SF.

Freakin' awesome burritos. The best I've had in the city. Their spicy chicken is SO DAMN GOOD, as is their shrimp. I haven't tried anything else from here, but I know their food is very popular.

At peak times, be prepared to wait in a long line that may twist around the not-so-big place, but it's definitely worth it.

Side note/another plus: my last time eating here, I hadn't been in a while, and I forgot they didn't accept credit card/debit. My total was $11.75, and I had 9 bucks cash. The woman took the 9 dollars without any hassle, even though I was short, which was SO sweet. Thank you to that kind woman, and I will give it back to you next time I'm there! That kind of hospitality is much appreciated. :)

HIGHLY recommended!!!

Chicken burrito with salsa, lettuce, cheese, rice, and black beans on a spinach tortilla please! There was a time in my life where I had a  "burrito body" as a result of daily burritos from La Corneta. It's right down the street from my place in Glen Park and I'm addicted! I need burritos anonymous from this place! I painfully gave it 4 stars because it's usually packed with customers and so has no place to sit. Not to worry dear burrito lovers you'll eat this burrito (or taco, etc) so fast there will be no reason to sit! The line goes really fast and if you keep your eye on the person making your burrito (they mess up sometimes) you will never be disappointed!

I've been to La Corneta dozens of time, as a close friend of mine lives in Glen Park and we'd regularly grab chow there as a precursor to a night of debauchery or Smash Bros.

It's definitely good - a little bit pricey, and I don't like how there are peas and carrots in the rice.  Definitely a taqueria done Glen Park-style, clean, cute, efficient and a very pleasant place to be, even when there are snaking lines.  I just like my Mexican food a little greasier, a little grimier.

If you're getting off at Glen Park BART and are craving something filling and substantial, you can't really go wrong with LC.

Torn.  Between two lovers, feeling like a fool?  No.  Bound and broken on the floor?  Never.

My flavor of torn is between wanting a burrito and wanting the butt of a girl who thinks SuperFood is a meal.  "Oh, I couldn't eat those fries!  I just had a HUGE juice."

La Corneta has a baby burrito.  I call it the girl burrito.  Tremendously tasty and just the right size.  Satisfying but doesn't leave you wanting to lie on the floor bound and broken and rubbing your belly and weighing the merits of bulimia.

Why is my super quesadilla soggy? The server just handed it to me! Boo. I ended up picking out bits of carne asada and eating them with chips and beans I stole from my boyfriend. Mmm, beans. I just love beans.

Did you know that beans are high in oligosaccharides? According to wikipedia, "these oligosaccharides pass through the upper intestine largely unchanged, and when these reach the lower intestine, bacteria feed on them, producing copious amounts of flatus." Flatus! I'm guessing that is just a nicer way of saying FARTS.

I remember when Corneta was next door and about the size of a closet....then they remodeled and made the place bigger. A good thing they didn't change how they made their great burritos and quesadillas. Since I was 14yrs old (28 now) I grew up always telling the "older looking blond lady always behind the register"......"Super Chicken and Prawn Burrito w/ xtra picante"....not on the menu...but they will take care of you like that. Lines...not a problem, worth the wait. Prices, worth every reasonable penny. Service, even after work just before dinner time (5-6pm) they make sure everyone is treated fairly and 99% of the time...even though they just group everyone's food by the register...all you have to do is tell them once what you ordered and wallah. Love you Corneta.....

Boys and girls, I'm going to relate a painful truth. When you see something akin to these words "I can't BELIEVE people like X location. Y and Z are SOOOOO much better. [Insert veiled Ad hominem toward now ostracized positive commenter]", what you are reading is a common practice among us primates that scientists call cock flailing. Cock flailing is bullshit posturing, ego masturbation, and nothing more. Cock flailing should be ignored. Always. But it should especially be ignored when it involves San Francisco burritos, and especially when I do it.

That being said, is La Corneta the house of Chicomecoatl made flesh and distributing burritos in Glenn Park? No. This is a well above average carbo bomb manufacturing facility with good ingredients, good staff, and a good location. Period. It may not satisfy any of your hipster needs to be ironic and awesome, Beck probably won't play an unannounced acoustic set there, Gary Danko won't be examining the flavor characteristics of a gut buster there, but you will get a tasty, filling burrito at a decent price.

While you have potential to be better, you just don't care about me. And that's why you get only 3 stars.

First, what is the point of asking me what kind of beans I'd like when you don't care. "Can I have refried beans?" I ask politely. You spoon a big (and soggy) spoon of black beans on my burrito.

Apparently my question was answered...no I can not have refried beans.

And then when my soda top pops off and sprays all over the bag, you simply remove the soda and leave the spill. Though you did replace the soda. I suppose that was nice...since I didn't do anything really.

This place is pretty standard. Nothing special, cheap price. It's like so many other burrito places I've visited in this city. But definitely low on the totem pole for service.

I always feel silly when I come here because I always get the Super Baby burrito. As the name implies, 'Baby' = smaller than regular (maybe around 2/3 the size? but still bigger than La Taqueria's standard burrito), and 'Super' = the standard cheese, guac, and sour cream.

It's definitely enough to fill me up and I don't feel like I need to polish off a huge burrito to keep pace with my friends like I do at other joints. And if I can't finish the regular, who wants burrito leftovers?!? Yeah, I'm not the high volume food consumer I used to be, but I always leave satisfied.

The workers are always nice and smiling which is always a plus as well. I thought it was my long hair and winning smile, but they seem to do it for everyone. Oh well.

Just adding my five stars to this place!

Flavorful and juicy meat, rice that is just the perfect texture, fresh salsa and guacamole, and warm and plentiful chips to go along with that perfect burrito.

Be aware that if you're ordering something with seafood, be prepared for a wait unless you call ahead.  I also wish that they had smaller tortillas for their baby burritos...having a full size tortilla for a baby burrito just makes the tortilla:filling ratio totally off.

La Corneta is my local neighborhood taqueria.  They will always hold a special place in my heart for introducing me to, my now favorite burrito - the Chile Relleno Burrito.  I will never forget that special moment when I noticed it on the menu, when I coyly ordered it, not knowing what would come of it.  I remember my first bite of warm cheese, hot chile and pillow-like rice and breading.  And now, I'm addicted.  Its literally the only burrito I order anywhere, and when it isn't available I tend to pout.

La Corneta's Chile Relleno Burrito sets my benchmark for all chile relleno burritos.  Namely falling into three categories:  Ingredients, Density, Composition.  The ingredients are most important as a C.R.B can only be as good as it's Chile Relleno is.  Also, the quality of the beans and the rice is equally important as they add or subtract a lot of flavor.  The density of any burrito is calculated based on the air to stuffing ration inside the burrito.  A properly dense burrito should be able to be rolled tightly with a nice blend of rice, beans and chile relleno in every bite.  Lastly, the composition of a burrito is based on all things involved other than tortilla, rice, beans and chile relleno.  This includes anything from smothering the burrito to adding sour cream and guacamole.

The IDC Breakdown:
Ingredients: 9  Their ingredients are incredibly tasty and their chile relleno is subtle, hot but not too hot, cheesy but not too cheesy.  Their rice is light and the beans are thick without being greasy.

Density: 9  Their burritos are tightly rolled and double wrapped with aluminum foil.  After the initial bites you can clearly see the equal distribution of the rice, beans and chile.

Composition: 9  At La Corneta you can opt to order your Chile Relleno Burrito with or without Cheese, Guacamole, Lettuce, Tomato, Sour Cream, & Salsa.  If you want it with, order your burrito "Super," if you want it without order your burrito "Regular."  I especially like that La Corneta trims the stem from the relleno before heating it up, and heats the relleno in a light tomato broth.

All in all, La Corneta is my favorite place to go for a chile relleno burrito - though I often wish it was less popular.  Those lines can get crazy!

Have been coming here for about (has it really been?) 10 years now and the food is fabulous!

The super baby burrito are just enough; shrimp or carnitas or al pastor (like adobo) are the best! Their super tacos are awesome too!

They also sell tres leches cake (yum) and cream/custard filled churros (can it get any better than that?)!

The line can be long at times, but it moves along quickly and is worth the wait.
