When baja fresh meets roberto's, hilberto's, alberto's and makes babies..

huge portions, fresh food.

being from http://so.cal, especially right next to the border, i've come to know and love my down and dirty, hole in the wall, leaving my intestinal tract greasy, mexican food.

but what can i say? the salmon tacos are killer! the burritos are pretty good. the salsa is fresh, and all made right in front of your face!

don't get intimidated by the long lines, the wait isn't as long as you would think, and totally worth it.

Price - 1.5 $ (around 9-12 dollars per person depending on what you order)
Service - good, but had to yell for the waitress to hear
Taste - missing something, maybe their salsa needs to kick it up a notch (with tobasco maybe?)... definitely not BAM worthy

On the plus note, everything here appears to be very fresh and some what more healthy than your average taqueria. Seems like most folks order their food to go.

Ohh mannnnnnnnnn,  I go to this place for one reason and one reason only, and thats for the prawn burrito.  I love that burrito so much, i have never ordered anything else in fear of not liking it and wishing i got the prawn burrito.  These guys use actual prawns, not some small fake shrimp that comes out of a can or something, these prawns are deviened, and grilled right after you order it.  The burritos are just amazing.

Its located right next to glen park bart station so i always just take bart.  There are so many restaurants near by that look good, but again, too scared to try it because of regret.  this place is always packed, oh yeah, get the spinach tortilla.  they got wheat, but again too scared to mix it up.  Hit it hard my friends.

A bit more expensive than other locations in the Mission, but hey its probably cause its located in Glen Park. Love that they have seafood options that are prepared when ordered.

I really wanted to love this place because my husband and his buddies had been raving about it. After a night out, we headed here for lunch and I sampled the nachos and a chicken taco. I started eating the nachos first, which were overall okay. The taco, however, made me feel queasy. Could it have been my hangover? Sure. Will I go back? Yes. It is always jamming with people so it definitely deserves another shot.

This is the tastiest Mexican food I've had in a while. It's been two days since I was here, and I haven't stopped thinking about it. I like how my prawns were butterflied and my grilled mushrooms were so good.

The place is spacious and clean. There was a line to the door when I came in, but it moved fairly quickly. I live much closer to a bunch of Mexican joints in the Mission, but I think this is my new favorite. I'll definitely be back soon.

As Victor G. mentioned, this place attracts everybody! A block away from the BART station, so it gets crowded during lunch time. The place has a good amount of clean seating, which is always a plus! Had the super taco with carne asada and dang, they piled it high! First of all, the carne asada was chunky and had a nice smokey flavor that was quite enjoyable! Their selection is great! I'll be back for more!!

My favorite Mexican place in town.  The mission location occasionally has live music and more seating.  They are so busy the food is always fresh.  I like the way they flavor and prepare their sauces, guacamole, rice, salmon, and tofu.  They usually have lots of staff so long lines move quickly.

I really wanted this to be my new favorite taqueria outside the Mission, and honestly, it's not bad at all.  The super baby prawn is pretty darn good and the carne asada is very tasty.  However, a couple things keep this place at the 3 star level for me:

1.  You have to specifically ask for salsa if you order to-go, which means I always forget and get home to dry chips.  Do they honestly think that by default their customers don't want salsa with their to-go order??
2.  The lines are long.  Don't come here in a hurry around dinner time.
3.  The consistency is not great - I have had fantastic burritos here and I have had a soggy mess.  It may depend on who makes the burrito, they have a large staff that seems to vary a lot over time.

I'll probably keep going back because it's in the neighborhood, but I'll probably venture out a little more often too in hopes of finding something better to satisfy my burrito cravings.

The food is fresh and made to order.

The burritos are big, filling and tasty.  The quesadillas are cheesy with a the tortilla perfectly crisped and their nachos are stuck under the broiler to melt the cheese instead of being stuck in the microwave.

The prices are slightly higher than some of your mission street taquerias, but so totally worth it.

The only bad thing I will say is that they don't have pina agua fresca everyday. If they made it everyday or at least whenever I'm there, they would totally deserve the five stars!!

Other than that this is the place to go for your taqueria cravings.

I've been living in the Glen Park neighborhood for about six months. I grew up in South San Francisco so I'm used to having great Taquerias in the neighborhood. Friends in the area always raved about how good this place is, and I'll tell ya, they're right. The food is great. No way to deny that. But I gotta say this place probably has the worst service I've had almost anywhere. I haven't had my food prepaired wrong more often anywhere else. And the attitude you get from the workers is unbelievable. It's pretty much as bad as it gets as far as serivce in this place.

With all that said I continue to go here because the food really is excellent. I wouldn't go here if I didn't live in the neighborhood though.

i saw lines here of anglos and amigos/amigas inside la corneta taqueria  so i got curious and got in here. the burritos seem pricey ($7) but i saw they were pretty huge. they also had many kinds of salads, tacos, quesadillas,  tortas and all kinds of combos (chile relleno, enchilada, burritos, taco, etc.)

the right wall has the menu on it and the left wall has an handdrawing of the mexican sun and a female manual laborer.

sampling:
-garlic shrimps(camarones al mojo de ajo-9.95) seem a bargain and it was! 8ish grilled fried large sized shrimp in garlic, very tasty
-black beans: had choice of pinto, so i went black. beans started clumping together later. since the beans couldn't be gay, i figure it must be the lard used in cooking.
-refried beans,  ok small amount
-salad with salsa, a large slice of tomato,  nice touch
-some flour tortilla which they forgot to give me.
-lots of heavy duty chips and nicely spicy sauce (from under counter); always nice.
-strawberry fresca (24 oz-2.50) very tasty, very sweet, tasted like honey or some other sweetener present, saw strawberry seeds.

frijoles refritos:
-line moved fast.
-inrestaurant seating of about 50, almost all taken, fast turnover.
-should be 5 stars for the food and the great value. deduction for use of lard and forgetting my tortilla. (they never made an effort to return it to me)
-metered parking or free a block away.
-few restaurants open at lunch in this area.
-surprisingly, almost all workers here mid aged, few youngsters(janitor, busperson, dishwasher)
-definitely repeatable for good value, service questionable.
-be prepared to make choices of type of beans, type of tortilla, hot or spicy sauce, chips or no, type of meat.
-open kitchen, all meats in plain view, all cooking in plain view.
-sit at the window, see the hotties walking their dogs.

I am giving this place 3 stars, based on the inconvenience you have to go through to get a burrito or taco.

First of all, the food is pretty good - but the lines are SO LONG and the place is always filled with families/people, so you have to take your food to go. I know that where there is a line, there is usually good food - but sometimes it's the reason I'll just keep on walking instead of stopping for food.

(Note: I was in line one time, where the lady in front of me decided to call in her order while standing in line. Totally pissed me off because she sat snarkingly off to the side and got out of there earlier)

Second, the cash only policy - they only tell you this at the register. So after you wait in the long line, order your food - you now have to scrape together the cash or find an ATM. Luckily there are three bank ATM's nearby.

Also, you have to inform them what type of salsa and how many you need. They offer them sparingly. That's why I love salsa bars, maybe I just want it really hot and spicy, maybe I just want to take the salsa home.

Who would've thought that one of my favorite Mexican food places would be in the Glen Park area?

I appreciate any taqueria that makes its own tortilla chips rather than take the easy route of buying those life-sized tortilla chips bags from Costco. The chips come out warm because they're made on site and one of the joys of life should be warm and crispy tortilla chips with salsa and guacamole. Scratch that. I can one up that by recommending the super nachos because that combines the warm chips with guacamole, cheese, sour cream, and meat. The amount of training you'll have to do to clear your arteries is well worth it.

Everything I've had at this taqueria has been good. The salsa and guacamole are always freshly made. I want to try the ceviche so will set that as a goal, right up there with job promotion. The line does get long but it moves at a decent pace. Parking is all metered though so err on the side of caution and overfeed the meter if you see the long somewhat long. This place doesn't accept credit cards but there's a Bank of American ATM at the Eggettes two stores away if you find yourself short on cash but not willing to work off the debt.

i went into la corneta with a hangover and meager expectations:  the combination provided for a surprisingly delightful experience.  the burrito was a bit undersized compared to what i was used to seeing in the mission and also a bit pricey.  however, the green chicken it was comprised of was saving grace.  perfect flavor, texture and spice.  very very well done.  definitely worth a shot.

Great place! They have a live band even for lunch, a sunroof, murals all over the walls...

Amazing Super Prawn burrito. Best burrito I've ever had in SF. The prawns were perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. I'm not a big mexican foodie but I crave this...

very extensive menu. Tacos are small portions so it's good for a quick bite.

They make their own chips and salsa which they're really not stingy about giving out.

this is my go-to burrito joint.  i eat burritos at least a few times a month- and have for over 20 years.  because i usually order the same thing each time, my review may only prove helpful for those of you who enjoy chicken or beef burritos.  the staff is always friendly, the food is always fresh and delicious, and the portion sizes are a great value.

the only improvements i could imagine might be that i'd never have to wait in a huge line and that i could charge the meal (cash only!).  but then the place would be perfect- and that's not realistic.

Yum, La Corneta!  This is my favorite mexican restaurant in the city.  Not too greasy, fairly inexpenive, and lots of options to choose from.  Their Carne Asada and Al Pastor are great on a burrito or nachos.  Their garlic shrimp dish is also quite tasty (although a little more expensive).  They also have black beans, which is a plus, and their chips are fresh and crisp without being too salty.

Highly recommend this place.

I love this place. I always get either the Super Shrimp and Steak Quesadillas or Burritos. They are super generous with the ingredients and are pretty damn tasty. It's not bland and too charcoaled. I've been to the other locations and didn't really see consistency. I think this may be the best location. I don't bother going to any of the other ones.

I'm giving it a 3 because my roommates will kill me if I go any lower, they love it. Me however, not really.

I ordered the carne asada super burrito, I usually order that everywhere so I can compare. This one was salty, noticeably salty. It has been that way the other couple times I went too.

Expensive enough for Mexican food but cash only? If you can't get out of the door under $10 then you should take CC. My thoughts on that are the place is super cheap (owners) and don't want to pay the fee? Is that right? I think that because the only other places I go with cash only are ran by cheap foreigners.

Still, your food has calories, I need calories to live, ya get a 3.

One star for the bright yellow on the walls....no more stars for many reasons...
1). I think food handlers should wear gloves when they prepare your food.
the girl preparing the nachos was not wearing gloves, and was arranging the chips on my plate like it was a frkn floral arrangement...she also touched the cheese, the cilantro and the dirty towel with the same hands.....
2). They only accept cash....(touch food, touch dirty rag, touch cash, no gloves, repeat)
3). The Food wasn't that great. The tables were dirty.

Go to Taqueria Guadalajara instead!

I liked this place but it really didn't set itself apart in terms of quality.  I guess with so many good places it just falls into the "good" category. But it garners 4 stars for portion size and value.

And when talking portions, it's big portions. I mean really big. So big that I felt like a pig. I almost slipped into a food coma. When I barely managed to move I thought I might have gained 3 pounds.

Aside from the typical taqueria grub I found the mango juice to be quite tasty.  The service was fast and I found the place to be pretty clean. At most taquerias kicking some spanish to the servers usually garners some extra love but not at this place. Too bad.

If you're lookin' to fill your belly on nickels and dimes this place can't be beat.

Was in the area to try Gialina but after a rude regular basically pushed his way through to put his name down regardless to others waiting in line and the hostess has her nerve to tell me we arrived at the same time when I waited 5 minutes already - they don't deserve my $.

La Corneta was just a few store front down and it looked promising.  There were plenty eating and another line waiting to order.  We ordered a regular taco with carnitas ($3.25?) with your choice of beans (pinto, black or refried) and salsa (regular or spicy).  The tortilla was loaded with refried beans, chunks of carnitas and a heapful of spicy salsa.  It was plenty to fill us up along w/ the complimentary chips and salsa.  The spicy salsa is terrific with lots of chopped up jalepeno that gives it a nice kick.

Love that there were bottles of green and red sauces on the tables so I can load up every bite with more flavor.

The horchata is very tasty (small is $1.25?), great flavor of cinnamon and just the right amount of sweetness.

Yelpers sound the trumpets because LA CORNETA is...by far the best taqueria that makes my list!!!  This taqueria has been one of my long time favorites.  When you walk in there is a beautiful eye catching mural on the wall and where it is located is a perfect spot--the heart of "downtown" Glen Park!  When I'm craving for a salmon quesadilla I come here.  I add mushrooms with it and pour the salsa verde (or is it verde salsa?) with each bite that I take. MmmMmmm...soooo good!  I've also a couple times had a prawn baby burrito and that was just as good.  I love how the seafood is always fresh.  I will try the ceviche the next time I pop back in here!

The only cons I would say is that 1. they only take cash--but because I bank with BofA there is an ATM a few steps away.  2. If you go at the wrong time which usually is right after work hours you will catch a long line but I think they do their best at trying to move the line up as fast as possible.

OOOO..I forgot!  To drink try a 1/2 Horchata & 1/2 Strawberry Aguas Frescas.

This place is excellent. My friend from work loves this place so we decided to come here during a lazy Friday.

La Corneta is really clean compared to some of the dives over in the mission. When I first walked in I thought  of oh great, my friend took me to a baja fresh/chipotle type of place. But I was wrong with my quick assumption .

My Order
Super Al Pastor Burrito - The burrito had a great over all flavor thanks to the guac and rice. The al pastor was ok but kind of got lost with the rest of the flavors. Also their rice has pees and carrots in it. Terrible, I hate pees and carrots. It reminded me a little of fried rice.
Carnitas Taco - Little expensive but the carnitas was delicious.
Agua Fresca - Sweet and refreshing. Agua fresca has to to be 3 parts sugar, 2 parts water and 1 part  fruit.

My Friends Order
Carne Asada and Camarones Combo Plate - Probably the best carne asada I have ever had. It was nice and flavorful and tender.

Bomb!

This is my secret place that I do not tell my marina district transplant friends about. My high school girl friend lived in the neighborhood and introduced me to this place.

Food is awesome and the shrimp burritos are mindblowing. I like to get my burrito and sit at the window counter so I can watch people walk by on the street. Especially because it is such a cool neighborhood. I also find myself engaged in conversation with other strangers sitting at the window counter. There's something nice about that.

The refried beans have lard in them (I asked) and I am pretty sure they use MSG because I am always dehydrated after my meal. Who still does that? It makes me disappointed in La Corneta. I had a nightmare of an experience at the Mission Street location involving other peoples barf (see Yelp review) and now associate trauma with La Corneta.

Sorry.

Since the day this place opened it has been flooded with people.  People just love La Corneta.  Lines snake around the table as peoples mouths salivate at those who have already gotten their orders and are happily eating their burritos and enchiladas.

Despite often having to wait in line, it moves fairly fast.  I'm a huge fan of the Chile Relleno super burrito.  Then again, I love anything deep fried and put that in a burrito and you got fat girl on a rampage status.  The carnitas is extremely moist and succulent.  The super tacos are very filling.  Hell, even the super baby burritos are filling.  They are constantly putting out fresh ingredients, not refilling existing old containers.  And the horchata is off the hook.

Can I just say that the owner is ballin!  His house is like something transplanted with perfect precision from Cuba. It's so cute!  I'm not a stalker or anything if that is what you are thinking and I know that comment totally wasn't needed.  Now I need to clarify that I live down the street and I see him coming and going when I walk my brat of a dog.  *Shakes head* I'm still not a stalker.  Most importantly many workers have been here for years so one would assume that they are treated well.

After a busy day of packing and moving, I was STAAAAARVING!  I headed to Glen Park with Julie F. to get some yummy burritos.  We've been getting burritos from here for a while now, and noticed the prices have gone up.  =(  With the economy in the crapper, everyone's got to try to make money somehow.

I always get the Super Carne Asada burrito( http://static.px.yelp.... )...sorry for the fuzzy pic...must've been shaking from the hunger.  The guacamole and sour cream make it oh so good.  They put plenty of meat, so you definitely get stuffed.  Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs, and we also split a Quesadilla Suiza with Carne Asada( http://static.px.yelp.... ).  This was my first time having any of their quesadillas, and it was delicious!  Lots of meat and cheeeeeese!

If you happen to go during the lunch or dinner rush, you might be waiting in a pretty long line.  This place is always poppin'.  Parking can be a pain sometimes, so you might have to stalk people and follow them to their cars.

Although their hot sauce tops out at "not very hot" it's still very good. The green tomatillo at the tables is fairly good as well. The meat is excellent. The prices are slightly above the usual average for the Mission (tho' this is the Glen Park one) it's definitely worth it.

Their chips are always fresh and crispy. The line can get to be a bit much, but it's the price of a good restaurant, right?

The shrimp is excellent, although I'm a fan of the carne asada. One taco, which goes for the price of $3+, is enough for a meal. For the hippies (and cubans) they have black beans, and just for the hippies (not cubans) they have spinach tortillas.

They steam their flour tortillas, and on this grounds alone they fail to reach perfection in their burritos (although they will grill the tortilla if you ask, but I rarely do). They even have vegetarian rice (for the hippies), although I never eat it.

The portions can be fairly large, and you'll want to make it a "baby burrito" to avoid having to stuff yourself, or get it to-go.

So if you want a delicious mexican meal made by hand by woman with silver capped teeth, this is the place to go.

I used to think this was a great taqueria, back when I moved to SF years ago.  I recently moved to the neighborhood and was happy to be close enough to get burritos here regularly.  I have been disappointed each time thus will not likely return.

I usually order a super baby.  Used to be, this was a great burrito, just a bit smaller than a regular.  The past two times I went, it was like eating rice and tortilla, with a touch of sour cream.  They go REALLY light on the chicken and other fillings.  Yes, it's a baby but I am still paying 7-8 bucks and a tortilla filled with rice is not worth that price.  Too bad, I do like the salsas there.

WHERE'S THE COMMON AREA COURESTY?

i decided to walk around Glen Park during lunchtime before I jumped on the Bart to the office. I passed La Corneta in search for "something good to eat for lunch" and saw bookoo people in line. Here? At Glen Park? How interesting. Hidden yummie spots, gotta love it. I thought to myself "it's got to be a good place to eat, but there's alot construction workers inside? haha". What really tempted me to come inside was seeing the portions of the people who were eating by the window.. huge burritos in your face screaming at you COME INSIDE, COME INSIDE. I eventually walked in and joined the line and ordered the Chicken Taco with a side of rice. Small order, just to try it out, trying not to waste money.. especially when our recession is in a crisis!

I recevied my Chicken Taco but no side of rice after mentioning it 3x. Uhm hello I know I'm not a quiet person? They have enough staff you'd think one of them would have heard me say "with a side order of rice". By the time I came to pay I still didn't receive rice and they gave me a bag of free tortilla chips and asked for what kind of salsa and i've mentioned "mild" 2x to not even get salsa with my chips. ANNOYING. Then to only see dirty available tables for seating. WTF? There's alot of workers standing around NOT doing their job. I decided to clean my own damn table and sit to enjoy my food. Common area? Courtesy? What the hell is going on?! I might as well have gone to Taco Bell.

I did enjoy my taco for a very affordable price. As I ate my (soggy) taco with a fork, I skimmed the menu hung on the wall and said to myself "DAMN THIS PLACE IS PRETTY GOOD AND AFFORDABLE" but didn't know this place was ran by the hearing impaire.

1) Service - my experience; sucks
2) Food - delicious
3) Price - Affordable
4) Portions - filling

I will be sure to order "TO GO" with a shouting voice to make sure all my requested items will be included.
