4 reviews for La Cocinita Mexicana
Went in for my Father's Day meal and was delighted to see La Cocinita is now offering tortas as a main option and had barbacoa as a meat option. Both were a delicious combination. They have also added menudo to the menu.
Now accepting credit cards.

This is one of my new favorite places to eat. I made my first visit about a week after they had… Read more »
After hearing good things I made it in and was impressed. As I heard, the owners are brothers and very friendly. They are proud of their food and should be. They start with homemade tortillas which I really enjoyed. They were thick and tasty. Then decide if you want rice and beans. Next, pick your meat. The meat selection is good, and you can sample a meat before you commit to it. Then your burrito moves down and you can pick the rest of your toppings.
When I was there I sampled the desebrada (shredded beef), another type of beef - not sure which, and the carnitas. I decided to go with the carnitas, and it was great. The burritos are very large and satisfying.
Highly recommended
This place is **AWESOME**!!! Not to be missed if you live or visit anywhere in the area. Just down the street from the new Overland Park Soccer Complex, in a strip mall by a Subway and pizza place.
"Fast food Mexican" doesn't quite do it justice. Super yummy authentic food (homemade tortillas, fresh tamales, made to order burritos), loads of choices, FANTASTIC prices, the friendliest staff, clean and inviting -- what's not to love?
We eat dinner at La Cocinita at least 1-2 a week, and look forward to breakfast each weekend (the best breakfast burrito I've ever had). I can't believe this place isn't packed at all hours, but I guess the good word just isn't out there yet. I highly recommend giving them a try.
You wouldn't expect authentic Mexican food in a strip center at 135th and Quivira. But La Cocinita Mexicana delivers.
Great food. Run by two really friendly brothers who just want you to be happy with the food.
The tamales and home made tortillas are a must. The shredded green chile chicken, too. All kinds of different meats to choose from.
Give it a try.
