Fun atmosphere fun food!
This great market rooftop is a great spot to eat with the locals and have a solid meal.
We ordered an array of small plates from the fried chicken sandwich to tacos.
Our waiter was delightful. The vibe was very cool!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Artem R.Grand Prairie, TX705155115Aug 10, 2020
Good but not great and definitely not priced fairly!! Yes the roof top terrace is cool. But this is a restaurant; you should focus on your service more! We understand this is a tourist trap. But you won't trap me again!

Decided to visit the Mecado, and eat here due to the options. The food was subpar and the attitude of the staff was awful.
WARNING: they brought us bread, WHICH WE DIDN'T ASK FOR, and charged us for it. Which would be fine if they had been more pleasant when we asked about it.
We speak fluent Spanish, so the bad attitude of their waitress was not lost on me.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 80169739Nov 26, 2015
We ventured to this rooftop after stuffing ourselves with freshly sliced meats and tapas downstairs in the mercado below. This was the place to be - every seat and almost any standing space was taken. We managed to grab a table as a group was leaving and I thoroughly enjoyed my mini carafe of sangria.
The ledge was completely protected by a tall glass/plastic wall (I guess for safety sake?) so the already small area seemed a little more confined than it would be if it were completely open. I was glad to have been able to check this place out but there were many other rooftops yet to be seen.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Liad B.Berlin, Germany12065Sep 11, 2018
Amazing view but such a poor service. Ordered a cocktail from their menu and the Bartender didn't know how to make it. Served it with rum instead of vodka. Poor poor service. The food got to the table before the drinks. Such a shame for the view.

Overall, I really enjoyed my dining experience during my week in Madrid. Dinner here was the exception.
Neither my dining companion or I finished the food. One ordered salmon, one ordered salad, and neither found the food inspiring.
Service was surprisingly slow despite the restaurant being relatively empty --- 8pm is early for dinner in Madrid.
I did enjoy my glass of wine and the free platter of olives. I spent the rest of the meal wishing there were more free olives.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 40412483756Sep 17, 2017
Fun space inside, and the outside would be nice if they forbid smoking. Since there are tall glass walls, when someone lights up, it just fills the space. And not like there's an amazing view--just fun to be up high. We enjoyed the food, and dig the fact that there's a guy standing there carving out pieces of ham or cheese as part of the entertainment/ ambience. The croquetas were really, really good. Just be careful not to dive straight in as they hit the table. I burned my lip as the insides gushed out as I bit into it. Whoopsie. The Thai veggies were sorta oily and had too many onions and green bell peppers. The sheep's cheese we got on our little platter was outstanding. The pan con tomate was the best--especially with the cheese. We enjoyed our meal. Service was a little slow and the sangria was just ok. Just noticed we got charged for a coke that we didn't have--check those receipts. Still, a fun stop and glad we went.

I thought the days of taking advantage of tourists in Western Europe was over but apparently not at La Cocina de San Antón. Mediocre food and above average prices. Our party of 7 was seated promptly at a table prepared with some bread and 6 slices of cheese. We asked for tap water while we decided on drinks and dinner. 2 blue bottles of water arrived at our table, one without a lid and the other with a small disk which was removed at the table. We asked for more water and the water delivery show happened again. When the bill came we discovered why. There was a 1.95€ bread and cheese charge per person and the water..likely tap, of 3.00€ each. First of all there was only 6 slices of cheese for 7 people. And there were only 6 pieces of bread, of which they did not offer more. Don't waste a meal here with so many other places.

Great atmosphere and vibe but the food is just okay, nothing special. I had the hake and was disappointed by it and the yuca that it came with. I am used to very fresh yuca so maybe my expectations were a bit too high. However the atmosphere was great and I enjoyed the drinks. I also enjoyed the cheese plate appetizer. For me it was a bit too expensive for the quality of food that I got.

Located at the top of the Mercado the restaurant has a cool and funky vibe,.
We visited last year and had the pork loin roast and it was amazing. This year we just popped in for tapas and a glass of wine and had an enjoyable time. Its probably touristy, but the fact that we returned says something...I still like it. I also enjoy the freshness of the veggies and the sangria is amazing!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
