(3 1/2) What I like about La Bou (Sacramento sandwich chain) is its consistency. It's almost always the same. I also like how it's priced. A bit pricy for some items, but true quality in the contents.

My usual there consists of an Eggplant Panino (roasted eggplant, basil and goat cheese) and the chicken salad. The salad has crisp cabbage, lettuce and real chunks of daily roasted chicken. That with a side of dill sauce makes a great noon meal.

Today I had the new Butternut squash soup instead of the salad. It was fantastic! The perfect pureed consistency, a tad sweet, a tad salty and a great opportunity for heaps of ground black pepper. Yum! Oh, and always a free newspaper around!

The downside of La Bou is that sometimes their bread can be too thick for sandwiches and the service folk aren't the nicest.
