Review from Irit E.
Sunnyvale, CA
I've been coming to La Bella for year now and really like working with their nail technician, Ann who is really nice, humble and thorough.
I didn't give them 5 stars because they are a bit pricey, and their gel nail doesn't work (it peels after 3-4 days, so something is off).
However, I never have to wait, I can usually get same day appointment with Ann, and their place is very elegant and clean. -

For someone who barely pays $25 bucks for a haircut, i don't know what I was thinking willingly coming here knowing a pedicure would cost me $30.
Don't get me wrong, the gal did a great job and the place is clean but the price is pretty steep. Well, I guess we are in Cupertino after all; I could get it done for 15 bucks in ESSJ haha
Anyways, the place is clean and we had no trouble making an appointment for the same day. We came in during lunch and it wasn't too busy. The ladies are nice and they did a good job. The nail polish also lasted really long. I was torn between giving them 3 stars vs 4 because of the price but it's a business afterall. Thanks gals, you did a great job but I'll stick to somewhere cheaper =/ -

I came here for a pedicure back in September. They did a great job, and pampered my feet completely.
Pedicure with parafin wax $45
I then came here for an eyebrow wax by Julie. She did a fab job!
I have sensitive skin, and after my waxing, my eyebrows weren't even red.
Eyebrow wax $20
I highly recommend this place for their service, and cleanliness. -

Anna did a fantastic job on my french pedicure, eye/lip waxes. The salon is clean and the staff is friendly. This is the best pedicure I've had in a very, very, long time. Anna was gentle with my toes and no mishaps here!!! It costs more than your average nail salon but its worth the nail spa experience.

I can't stand crooked lines or anything out of alignment. I guess you can say I have a mild case of obsessive compulsive disorder? I don't know, maybe!? My point is that I haven't found a nail technician who suffers from the same disorder as me. I haven't had a perfect french manicure done and it seems that the only way that I will get perfection is to get a set of acrylic or gel nails--no offense, but I really prefer my real/natural nails instead. Okay honestly, I can't expect perfection, but if I'm going to pay more than other salons...I'm going to also expect the services and quality to come darn close to it!
La Bella was only A-OK, I think they are little over-priced and I guess I had higher expectations because of all the good reviews. I came in and stood confused, as the front desk was towards the back of the salon. There were three nail techs and one customer, so I was immediately seated. I had a pedicure and manicure, both done at the same time. Obviously it saved a lot of time, however the experience wasn't as relaxing and comfortable as I had hoped for. I wasn't given any other option--if I was, I would have preferred to have each done separately. The pedicure included a soothing feet/leg scrub and lotion massage, while the manicure included only a lotion massage. An hour later and my nails were clean and freshly painted (french manicure for both hands and feet).
The salon was much quieter than other salons I have been to, but not so serene and relaxing as a spa should be. The total came to $55 without tip. I adored the decor and friendly staff, but I don't think I will be coming back anytime soon.Listed in: Oh, you fancy huh?

Ew- So I thought I would try this- went for an appointment because of all the ratings of cleanliness, but couldn't do it. Goodness they don't even line the pedicure soaking tubs with plastic liners!

Review from Bhuvana H.
Malden, MA
I'm a little conflicted as I write this review - I took my mom and sister here last week for a birthday treat. My mom got the spa pedicure, my sister got a regular pedicure with nail art, and I got a manicure. The place is clean, as other reviewers have mentioned. And the employees are very nice and friendly - they spoke a minimum of Vietnamese in front of us, which I appreciated.
My mom and sister found their pedicure experiences to be really relaxing, with nail shaping and polish done well. The nail art on my sister's nails turned out beautifully. However, my pretty red manicure started chipping from the tips within a day or two - I think it's because the manicurist didn't do an extra layer on the tips of my nails. I don't think I did anything to put extra wear and tear on my nails, but I noticed polish coming off in the shower, while washing dishes, etc.
So, I'd probably go back, but I'd ask them to do an extra layer of polish on the tips of my nails. -

UP-UPDATE September 27, 2009:
So I see the owner finally replied to my post TWO YEARS after the incident! Wow, thanks a million! Instead of contacting me and trying to convince me to return as a customer and then retract my horrible review, they insult me by saying I was half an hour late and well I should basically have expected shitty service. I'm sorry, but I wasn't half an hour late, I never said that. I said "tardy" which is about 15 min to most ppl. If you have memory enough to recall how late I was to an appt 2 years ago, why don't you have enough common sense to contact me , apologize, offer a free manicure and convince me to change my review? My critique stands.
UPDATE ...JUNE 20, 2007:
I had reviewed this place a year ago, 5 stars- now down to one :-( ...
I just got married last weekend, and had a gel fill w/ Julie scheduled 2 days before my wedding.
Now, I was running late (what bride isn't??!!) to the appt, but they made me feel HORRIBLE, every single technician and the receptionist all MENTIONED IT several times. So my tech RUSHED THRU my bridal fill-in...and they made me feel like DIRT and extremely stressed out with only 48 hours before my wedding. My MOH actually told them to stop berating me for being late, or the 3 of us (me, MOH and Jr BM) would walk out!
They refused to reschedule me when I arrived late (which I first asked for), refused to actually take their time, and when the next client walked in, rather than beg a few minutes extra from her , they abruptly ended my service with crappily applied gel full of bubbles.
I've been that "next client", and I always wait 10-15 minutes longer when I see a panicked bride, or any customer for that matter, ahead of me..haven't we all "been there"?
So the technician was rushed, would NOT move her next appt back even 15 minutes to concentrate on me, and did an entire fill, gel application, polish, etc in 30 MINUTES. EE-yuck. You can imagine what sloppy work that was! I was backed into a corner with zero options once she'd started the "drill and fill" on my nails, and THEN told me she'd have to RUSH and finish in 30 min or less for an appt that normally takes an hour.
Even as I checked out, the receptionist AGAIN took it upon herself to tell me never to be late again, or they'd skip my appointment entirely!
Thanks MOM, you can ALL stop telling me how LATE I was with 48 hours to go before my wedding! I was in TEARS as I left.
Is that "ONE CLIENT AT A TIME"??? I DON'T THINK SO!!
Who's the CUSTOMER HERE??!!
They just CHARGED ME full price for a half-done fill, plus my sisters manicure, plus $35 for a polish change on a 9-year old. YES LADIES it's true- $35 friggin dollars for a french manicure and two crappily painted pretend flowers on a 9 year old GIRL!....so that gives them the right to make me feel like total crap? I guess so!
The icing on the cake (no joke)...
I BROKE 3 TIPS OFF THE DAY OF THE WEDDING!
* one holding onto my husband during our entrance, arms around his shoulders.
* one when tapping on the table in time to the music
* one when pulling "up" the crinoline after a restroom run.
I WAS HORRIFIED!!!!
I have ZERO PICTURES OF MY HANDS FROM THE WEDDING now, I had to curl my nails under on my ring hand, where 2 tips SNAPPED RIGHT OFF.
So I called today and left a message for the owner, begging her to re-do my nails....
She just called back! Good, yes! A wesome for her to call me so soon!
But get this.... the jist of the whole story- it's ALL my damned fault for the whole thing, NOT theirs in any way.
The owner who reminded me AGAIN that the entire thing was MY FAULT for being late, and that she could not possibly give me a reimbursement for services- she's going to issue me a "credit for 3 tips to be redone"..... No "redo at our expense", no "let's just soak those bad puppies off and redo an entire new gel set at our cost".
Nope, they'll redo 3 broken tips for free. Ummm yeah, I don't think so.
THEY RUINED MY WEDDING DAY AND ALL THEY CAN DO IS ISSUE A PARTIAL CREDIT???!!!
I have to now pay my photog SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS, RE-ORDER A BOUQUET AND TUX, AND PAY THE HAIRDRESSER AGAIN in order to re-create the entire scene and get decent shots of me & my new hubby in our full attire, a few weeks from now.
Hmm I'm thinking of just telling my story online on every forum I can until they get the true meaning of CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Seriously, I have referred at least 3 girls from my office, a few from ballet class, my own family, etc to come here. I'm emailing them all this story (but they saw in person so that was proof enough of shoddy work) and "tell a friend" to NEVER COME HERE if it's a CRITICAL appointment, ie WEDDING or PHOTO SESSION.
Screwing up a brides' nails is simply UNACCEPTABLE.
That is really the ONLY DAY IN YOUR ENTIRE LIFE that you must have perfect hands, would we all agree?

I really like this place.
I've just moved from across town and was looking for a new 'home' for my nails. Julie the nail tech was GORGEOUS and the staff there was really nice.
I had to reschedule on my way to my appointment as I was running late after work and the staff were very understanding and helpful.
Though the price is a little higher than some other nail bars in the area, it is defiantly worth it. The attention to detail, friendly atmosphere and little 'extras' make the experience worthwhile.
I actually felt jealous watching people get pedicures as they looked SOOOOO good!
My only small criticism is that I had a set of old acrylics removed and I really dislike the method where they are pulled off (slide an acrylic tip between the real and false nail to separate the two) compared to having them soaked off. I have naturally thin nails and find this method very uncomfortable and a little stressful. But I'll ask next time.
This certainly won't dissuade me from making this my 'regular' nail spa. -
Review from Margo G.
I have had a manicure and pedicure as well as a Brazilian.
The mani/pedi was good, It was $45 for both. They are really good about sanitation. They clean, rinse and run the water after each use in the pedi stations. I'm really anal as I had a friend who got a nasty infection before. They use new clean tools for each person. The mani used clean tools as well and was really good about making sure I liked the shape of my nails. Too many times I end up going home having to file them the way I like. They don't rush you at all. They let you take your time and enjoy it and also give great hand and foot massages as they are applying lotion.
The Brazilian with Dawn was great! It was my 1st time and Dawn talked me through the process, talked to me to put me at ease and would give me a heads up before every pull. She uses a hard wax which is way better than regular wax on the larger areas and also uses regular wax on other spots. She wore gloves, didn't double dip in to the wax and is really good about cleaning up the areas the wax didn't get. I would definitely go back to her for those again. $50 was well worth it.
I didn't give it 5 stars because I wished my manicure lasted longer. :-( The polish chipped pretty quickly and my feet were not as smooth as I expected them to be. But I would definitely go back. -

Update 8/22/07:
I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. I brought my sister who is diabled here for services and the staff were so, so respectful and kind and not snooty!!! They were very gentle, patient, and super careful with her. They were great with my mom, too.
************************************************** *********************
I called the night before I needed an appointment and I left a message asking them to call me back. I'm thinking "this place wont call me back"...but guess what? 10am the next morning, they called me back and gave me an appointment for that afternoon!!! How awesome is that?
My nail specialist, Phoung, was the nicest, friendliest person and very detail oriented...They offered me water and were very attentive. Yes, its nice to be treated like a princess and with respect during a mani/pedi....(there were no shaking heads or speaking badly about me in another language)...
My feet and hands were a disaster, but Phoung took care of them with a smile and didnt make me feel bad about it at all! She did a fantastic job on my mani/pedi and all for 45 (+tip)...it was worth every penny.... Also, they used OPI and Nailtiques which are really good products!
Im telling everyone in my family and at my work about what a nice place this is. I made another appointment and they said that they would call to remind me the day before...Is that wonderful or what??!!!
Their motto is something like "treating one client at a time" and boy, do they! This place really cares about their clients. -

My experience with this spa was the worst experience I ever had that after 6 month I can't forget it.
There was a nosy Asian guy (the secretary I suppose.) He interfered in any conversation about price that I had with the lady working on my nails. He just wanted to raise the price of services that I got. I took one of my Muslim relative with me and he rudely made fun of her hair covered and having manicure.
My nails were OK but I couldn't tolerate the behavior of that guy, he kept the whole time telling something to other girls and they all giggling and sometimes they translated what he said. (ashamed to mention!)
NEVER GO BACK! -

I have been looking for a decent nail spa around work for a long time now! I don't like going into those combo hair/nail salons for cleanliness reasons. La Bella is so clean (with stainless steel feet sinks for pedis) and the ladies are smiley and very polite! I walked in since I had some extra time in between errands and was welcomed right away. I recommend Phong. Loving my toes! (4 stars because my pedi, a regular spa pedi, costs $30 without tip)

Review from Jan P.
This is by far one of the better nail salons in the South Bay, notches above the chatty neighborhood nails salons reeking of acetone. The salon is super clean and always bright and airy and I've always found available appointments upon walk-in (though I do come in during weekday afternoons). The employees are not concerned about each others' gossip, and instead focus solely upon a quality manicure.
For only $15 for a manicure, I've come out with one that lasts at least a week with no chipping at all and no bubbles. The extra few bucks more than the generic salon makes quite a difference here. Granted, they are strict with their appointments, but this just guarantees their clients the time they deserve.
My only complaint? The hand/arm massage with rather forgettable. Wait, did I even get one?? But I do love the variety of nail color options, in both Opi & Essie brands. -

After seeing a couple of 5 star reviews, I thought I would check out this new spa near my home.
I called to book and appointment for both myself and my cousin. We were given appointments at 6pm. The next morning, I receive a call that the tech is ill, our appointments were cancelled. I called back to reschedule, and was told that it would not be possible to book an appointment at 6pm for two people because they close at 7. Hmmm..just the other day I could have sworn I had an appointment for two at 6pm.
Anyway, I have yet to use their services, but so far, customer service isn't looking great. -

This is definitely a clean and neat nail/facial place and I was very impressed of their interior and space. BUT...
I got the spa signature pedicure for 55$ and I was not too impressed with the massage and paraffin wax. It was okay.
When they applied the color I was very pleased not to have any bubbles and I thought I should add some design... and my disappointment just started to grow more. They handed me over a book filled with great designs and I couldn't decide which to pick.. I asked her to make my nails just look pretty ... but she put just crappy looking flowers on my nails. I was debating in my head if I should complain and go through the awkward process of her redoing my nails or just pay and leave! I did the latter part and paid 100$ (tip included)... I learned this place is not worth coming back not only is the price ridiculous.
But it should have been a big warning sign for me if the place is empty on a Sunday afternoon.
And when you see the nail technician talk on the cell phone while working on a customer.
And when they keep talking in their language in front of the customers. -
Review from La L.

Had a mani/pedi there today. I really appreciated how clean and sanitary the salon is. The pedicure stations all use stainless steel sinks (no jets) that they meticulously clean after each pedicure.
The nail tech did Anna did a good job, though the massage could have been longer (considering the price).
I used to go to Lavande for pedicures because they don't use the pedicure jets, but I think I'll start coming here instead. Parking is a lot easier here than at Santana Row! I will miss the gummy bears and people watching at Lavande though. -

Well i read a lot of 5 star reviews and therefore went for waxing to this place.I must say the place is very clean and nice.Aalaa(am not sure if i m spelling it correct) did my waxing and was very friendly and nice.I must say that the wax they use here is very nice and different and is not too painful. However, after i came back home,i did see that there were a few areas which hadnt been waxed,actually....quite a few.
The lady at the counter wasnt too friendly but otherwise the place is good for waxing. -

Update:
You know it's time to find a new salon when:
1. Your nail tech rushes you and does a crappy job on your nails; and
2. The salon confirms your appt the evening before, then the day of cancells on you so somebody can 'go to the airport'.
What the F? If I did that to them they'd try to charge me for the appt. Don't waste your time, ladies! This place has slid all the way down the hill and the prices are still outrageous! I won't be going back.............
Ive been going here for pink & white acrylics for a few months now. What started out as pretty decent work (at high prices) has now turned into me getting rushed to make room for the next client. Sloppy work at a high price. If I want this type of service I'll go to a cheap salon. I'm shopping for a new nail tech. -

My mom took a friend and I for a special "girl's day out" as soon as my husband and I moved to the area. They were very nice, conversing frequently with us in English and really taking their time with us. Everything was very clean and nicely decorated (not tacky like SO many other places). They were very gentle with my feet, as I had a recovering wound from a few weeks prior. I really enjoyed our time there. It's also next door to my dry-cleaners and near the Y ... so a great location!
**They did answer their cell phones A LOT, which is one reason for only 4 stars. I also find it unnerving when they FREQUENTLY talk amongst themselves without interpreting. As an interpreter myself, I find it rude. But I've had it much worse at other salons -- they did keep their discussions to a minimum. -

By recommendation of a GF, I went to try this place out. I've been here a few times for pedi and eyebrow waxing. This place isn't like many other Asian nail salons/spas. If you have an appointment, they will take their time with you.
Everyone there is friendly and professional. I've even done drop-ins and didn't have to wait that long. Always a nice and relaxing experience. Never feel rushed.
*clean, small cute place
*located somewhat in the same plaza of Bed Bath & Beyond
*prices are slightly a tad more than other Asian places -

I called La Bella Nail spa two hours ago for an impromptu appointment and the woman said to come in 10minutes. I got there in 25minutes because I got horribly lost, and didn't realize Stevens Creek Blvd was so long. Anyway, when I got there, I was immediately assigned a technician and asked to choose my nail color. The technician was Anna, and she was nice and friendly. She made some small talk with me and was very kind and helpful when she realized I was pregnant, helping me move around and get out of chairs and things like that.
The manicure and pedicure were standard, but the environment is so quiet and serene that it adds a more relaxing element to the whole process. I will definitely be going back. -

I just arrived in the area and I was looking for a manicure/pedicure... Checked on Yelp and choose that one.
Well... Bad idea!
As a foreigner (French) I have been asked several questions (do you have an apartment here? what do you do?)... all I wanted was just an appointment! do they need all those info just to do my nails.
The ladies were not what I can call nice and friendly at all... Finally I just left so I cannot judge the quality of their work but I can surely judge the quality of their welcome: terrible and offended. -

I got a pedicure there and loved it! Parking is available. Chairs are very comfy. Sinks are very clean. The aromatherapy lotion they massage your legs and feet with smells so good. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. I drove all the way from San Carlos, and would definitely go back!

Review from Sarah G.

I REALLY like this place. I must admit that it's not very often at all that I make time or spend money to pamper myself. Well...at least not in the sense we're talking about here. My "pampering" happens much more so in a retail kind of sense. : )
Anyway, my friend wanted to get her nails done last week and asked me if I wanted to go with her after work and if I knew of any good places. I remembered that I had been to La Bella to get my nails done for my wedding a couple of years ago (and the fact that that's the LAST time I've had my nails done is SAD. haha) and that they did a good job.
We checked out their website and noticed that it said that scheduled appointments were "highly recommended". That being said, we called to see if we could get an appt for that night, but they were all booked up already. They said they could get us in the next night though, so we took it.
We both went for the Deluxe Manicure w/ Paraffin for $25, which seemed like a great deal. I got a french manicure, and my friend got her nails painted a really cool dark purple/blackish. The paraffin treatment was pretty cool. They have you dip your hands in a warm liquid wax, which hardens on your hands a couple of seconds after dipping it. They then place your hands into plastic gloves and cover those with these big mitten things and leave it on for about 5 minutes. After the 5 minutes is up they peel the wax off your hands (which comes off easily) and wipe them down with a warm cloth, leaving no residue. The process was cool and my hands definitely felt silky smooth afterwards...smelled nice, too.
*I will say though that by the next day I saw no noticeable difference in the softness of my hands at all. I'm not sure that I'd bother with that treatment again, but it was fun to try at least once.
In the end I was really happy with the way my nails came out. The lady that worked on them (sorry, I don't remember her name) really took her time and was careful to make sure everything was even and very neatly done. This is especially good with the clean lines of a french manicure. I am super picky with having someone else do my nails, but I was very pleased with how they came out.
The atmosphere in the salon is very soothing and it has a comfortable small feel to it. I did notice as we were getting our nails done that a few ladies came in for pedicures (or were just finishing up) and they seemed to be talking to all the staff like they knew them well. That was nice to see because it shows they have a loyal following. All the ladies that work there are extremely friendly and you definitely don't get the impression that they are talking smack about you while they're working on your nails. That's nice in and of itself. : ) All in all, this is a really great place. Everything looks very clean, they seem to really take their time on you and they do a great job. They even offer to help fish your wallet out of your purse for you when it comes time to pay so you don't mess up your perfect nails...much appreciated by someone like me who doesn't plan ahead like I should! ; )
I really enjoyed my experience here and whenever I feel the urge to have my nails done again (hopefully before another 2 years passes!) I'll definitely be back to La Bella. Who knows, maybe I'll even become one of their regulars... : ) -

Awesome Awesome Awesome. Got a pedicure here for the first time and I am sorry that after a year of living in San Jose I am just finding this place and am moving this month! By far, the best leg and foot scrub and massage of any pedicure I have ever got. The atmosphere is also very nice and relaxing. Super clean place which is really important. The pedicurist also allowed me to relax while she worked rather than force conversation which I really appreciated after being at work all day.

A while ago I got my first mani (no homo) while the gf got a pedi. The ladies were very nice and gentle on my rough hands. Place is clean and professional and my gfs nails and toes are always cute as fck.

I was hesitating at fist because this place is much pricier than the place across the street that I normally go to. I went anyway because of the great reviews they have. It was definitely a great experience. They took the extra time to massage my legs and took extra care of my nails. I got the regular pedicure and to me it was worth the 30 bucks they charged. If you want a nicer pedicure experience, i would highly recommend this place.

While everyone is very friendly here, I've had several bad experiences. I've been getting pedicures for many years, and never had an ingrown toenail until I started going to this spa. My very first pedicure here, I got a bad ingrown just after, that became infected. I ended up having surgery to remove it. And after it healed, I gave the salon the benefit of the doubt, and went back. They must cut the nails back too far, because I got not only another ingrown, but a nasty infection, which required another surgery and three rounds of antibiotics! I also took a bad spill on their front walk, as it gets very slippery in the rain. Bad experience all around :(

Okay so I am pretty picky about nail places since I have a cosmetology license. So the people were really nice, the pedi and mani were pretty good, and I felt comfortable there. I was the only one there for pretty much the whole time I was there, so I wasn't fighting for anyone's attention. As far as cleanliness, I felt that they did a pretty good job, but there were a few things that weren't exactly up to state board procedures but not really anything crucial, and I won't get into it. All in all I felt like the experience was good, I know it's hard to find a really good nail salon, so this place is worth trying out.

I usually go to QT Nails, but decided to try La Bella. I'm so glad I did. I saw Anna for a pedicure and she was fantastic.

I live in Hollister and this place is definitely worth the hour drive. The salon is extremely clean. They follow very stringent cleaning and sanitizing procedures. I felt very comfortable letting Jennifer give my 7 year old daughter a pedicure. She was very kind and gentle with her. Phoung did my pedicure and she gives an amazing foot and leg massage. I've told my Mom and Mother-in-Law, both who live just minutes away what a great place La Bella is. I can hardly wait to go back.
I have had many pedicures and this is by far the best place I have ever been to. -

The salon is clean and quaint. Not the best place for a walk in as there aren't many people who work there. The reception desk is situated towards the back of the salon which makes it awkward when you come in and no one is there to really greet you and help you out. The good thing though is when you have your appointment, they really do focus on you. I had my appointment with Julie and she was really great. I was very happy with her attention to detail and easy going personality.

Review from Michelle L.

I have been going to Julie for pedicures and gel fills. She is truly an artist who takes her craft seriously. Swear to honest goodness that not one single nail has broke since going to LaBella. The pedi's are dreamy! Occasionally I bring my 8 year old daughter and they treat her wonderfully.
I highly recommend this classy and clean salon. -

I came here on a Friday afternoon for the first time upon reading the reviews. The inside was cleaner than some, but my experience was not as good. She put me at the end for my pedicure and as I was soaking I was fumbling around trying to get the chair massager to work. Then, finally she comes over and I ask her how to turn it on. She told me it was broken. Then she asks me if I want to move, after already soaking for 10 min. Why would you put me in a broken one if you have 5 other chairs open. Very unthoughtfull... I believe they did a scrub which was nice. But my nail polish chiped off two toes the next day and I had to repaint them... not worth your $30.
