I went to this place over the weekend and the first think i noticed was how clean it was. maybe overclean. it had a Pine Sol smell. anyhow, we ordered breakfast and it was decent. nothing to write home about. the homemade tortillas were pretty good though.
But the lunch menu looked good and they had daily specials i'd like to try out.
Oh, the bathrooms were spotless. probly the best bathroom i've been to in years! Go figure.
Worth the drive, not only for the food, but for the drive itself. This restaurant is about 20 minutes from downtown Sac, we took the back way up Jefferson, which is a beautiful drive in the fall. The homemade tortillas are delicious and the prices are REALLY good. $6 for one item with rice and beans in a recently redone restaurant setting... I was expecting to spend more. I guess I'm still used to living in the Bay Area. The wait staff is also very very friendly. Only open for lunch and breakfast. The food is simple, but good, and the overall experience makes for a nice lazy weekend afternoon.
I guess this place is also called "Shorty's" for some reason.
Either way, Shorty makes some kick-ass homemade flour tortillas. The rest of my food was so-so, okay....you know, serviceable. Tasty enough, but didn't knock my socks off or anything.
We arrived too late for breakfast (no chilequiles, boo) so I had a "spicy" beef burrito with rice and beans. What made my beef (braised chunks, not ground) spicy was the addition of freshly sliced jalapenos. Yowsa. Beans and rice were ok. Husb's food was ok too, he had a quesadilla and some kind of pork thing.
Didn't check the restroom situation, but the room was cheery in a country-formica manner. They take the card, and they've got Negro Modelo cold in the bottle.
Not a place I'd necessarily drive to Clarksburg for all by itself, but it's a nice starting point for a lazy Sunday drive in the Delta.
Our friend graduated from Delta High and we saw this restaurant so we decided to stop by here on a Saturday since their sign said homemade tortillas. We were not impressed. Their food is bland, they didn't know what pico de gallo is, they gave us some sauce similar to tabasco. Their cheese looks like it was made of soy. Mission makes a better flour tortilla. This place sucks! Nothing was good to me. What a waste of a drive for us.
