This place screams yuppie wilderness hippy. A very odd combination but one I admit I like. The clothes are wilderness-trendy and comfortable but rather pricey. The only thing I've bought here so far were a comfy pair of brown winter boots on clearance for $24, down from $50. Woo! I love their clothes but quiet frankly I can't afford most of it. Oh well. That's life.
In the middle of the store where most of their fishing and outdoor equipment is they have signs posted with upcoming classes and group trips in the area. I'd love to check it out sometime. -

I guess I need to wait ten or twenty years before thinking any of the clothes here are fashionable. We came in armed with a big shopping list (and ready to SPEND): blankets, bathrobes, pajamas, slippers, coats and maybe some miscellaneous items.
The honest truth is that the selection is either dismal, or LL Bean got lazy. We walked out with just two pairs of slippers (great because of the lifetime guarantee). The pajamas were all thin and flimsy and not very warm-looking. Coats all seemed to be made for people under 100lbs and four feet tall. Blankets were boring and the only one that stood out was a bit much for a "hey lets get a blanket" purchase at $300.
Overall, we really just didn't like anything we saw. In Maine I can find all kinds of things I want to buy but the selection here was just blah and not with buying just for the sake of buying. -

I am going to warn in advance that LL Bean is not my style whatsoever. Ergo, this review is biased as hell and you really should ignore it.
How would I possibly end up at a place like this? I'm not outdoorsy, athletic, or woodsy in any way, nor do I have a fetish for flannel and Henley like a lot of crackers I know.
So, yeah, good damn question. Pops misguidedly sent a $200 gc to LL Bean for my birthday. I guess he figured that New Englanders need warm clothes. So off to LL Cool B we go.
The good: the help is amazingly friendly and helpful here, even when they're jam packed on a Sunday afternoon. Filled to the brim with snot-wad suburban assholes, the staff nonetheless delivered service with a smile. So good on them. There are also pretty cool gadgets in the sport departments. Good, but limited, camping gear. And they sell knives. I could have used one to slit my wrists after the prolonged 1.5 hours I spent inside.
The bad: Ok, so every WASP for miles around congregates in this store. and it is crowded as hell. It doesn't help that there's little room to navigate between racks. The store is huge, but then again, with the population, it really isn't. Plus, it smells like wet sheep dog and cinnamon inside.
The ugly: Good god, what ugly clothes. I suppose it's all good if that's your style, but, uh, no. Even basic jeans were, well, basic, and made me look like Mr. Puffy Ass Person. Plus (wait for it...) the prices are ludicrous.
Never in my life have I had trouble spending a $200 gc. You'd think it could take me exactly five minutes to blow through the store, but I had real trouble with this one. I finally got a black goose down vest, a thermal style crew sweater, and some neutral cords. Throw in a Kleen Kanteen and can we get the fuck out of here please? Later, I took back the jeans and just gave the credit to the wife so she could get a vest too. I mean, honestly.
To top it off, the lot is full of planet-raping SUV maniacs, all aiming for you and your children. Have fun parking here.
Again, it may simply be that LL Cool Beans simply isn't my particular style. Seeing so many be-flanneled white people in one concentrated area scared me. But if I never go here again, I'd be satisfied.Listed in: Boston: Metro

The only other Bean location I've visited is the Flagship in Freeport, so this one is much smaller by comparison. Otherwise;
Nice store. Very friendly and helpful staff, good selection of Bean products. Love their top quality stuff, just can't afford a lot of it.
Most of the staff is pretty knowledgeable about the products. -

It's not the Freeport 24 / 7 Maine store but it's 2 1/2 hours closer.
Initially I went there to get some hiking clothes for a trip to Scotland, ending up buying all kinds of clothes for the trip - all without gawdy designer tags & labels (I don't like wearing clothes overseas that scream "American" from a mile away).
Then I bought a nice pair of snowshoes, boots, & poles with a gift card from the kids last Christmas - and have spent hours & hours out in the wild in complete comfort (OK once the boots were broken in) since.
The staff is awesome - there and really there if you need them and not if you are just browsing.
A bonus is it is located inside "Mansfield Crossing" which is fairly new and has quite a few of my other favorite shops like Borders, Kohls, Payless, Best Buy.
PS - I spent a couple hundred $$ there for my trip which seemed expensive at first, but I'm being seriously here - it was cheaper to buy all the clothes that I did than to have them cleaned just one time in Scotland. I should have bought twice as many clothes and tossed them there! -

I really love this store...It is so authentic. It reminds me of Maine....Only the friendly Maine with beautiful beaches, quaint B and Bs with a lobster in every pot.
This store is a smaller version of their iconic store in Freeport only with the same knowledgeable staff and incredible guarantee
