L'Etoile Catering

We had the shrimp and grits at Kings Family Vineyards. It was delicious and the shrimp was fresh and tasty!

L'etoile did a fabulous job catering our wedding. My husband and I wanted something a little different than the traditional Virginia Southern/farm-to-table menus that you often see at weddings in the area, and Mark and Vickie nailed our vision from start to finish, including developing a delicious Japanese-inspired shrimp appetizer that I'm still hearing about more than a month out. Our tasting with them so informative-- Mark is literally cooking right there so you can ask him questions at any time and he's able to throw out potential adjustments while you're eating. It was also nice knowing that we were tasting food made by the person who would actually be the one cooking at our wedding. A couple other places we looked at had the executive chef make our tasting meal but then told us that someone else would be onsite at the actual wedding, which seemed weird and not especially useful.

As vendors, they were prompt, professional, responsive, flexible, and very willing to work within our budget. Vickie helped me with the (million) adjustments to our rental order and was endlessly tolerant and helpful when it came to some of our crazier DIY wedding ideas. Their staff was great, too-- the catering captain even stepped in for us in a major way when our day-of coordinator/florist was taken to the hospital the day of the wedding. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone in the area looking for a great caterer.

Okay, so, hubby and I visit Charlottesville frequently because our good friends live there. We had the wonderful opportunity to experience our favorite restaurant's catering services at a party that we attended during our last visit. Our friends had a 30 year anniversary and L'Etoile Star Catering did their thing...
All I can say is WOW. Southern hospitality at its finest! We had a lovely field greens salad to start, which was served with warm Chiabatta and herbed butter. Really tasty. I've never had beef burgundy before. This was absolutely delicious! It was cooked with winter root vegetables. Real comfort food! Dessert was a chocolate/apple bread pudding with warm caramel and creme anglaise sauce. OMG. I ate every bite. I have to say that the coffee was so good! Dark and velvety (French roast?) and really hit the spot. These people know their food. The service was spot-on and friendly, too.
Can I say? They are like ducks: Paddling like heck underneath, but cool and calm on the surface.
I SO WISH they existed here at home! I would hire them in a second.
