I go to L'Azure for Catherine Thai.  She is the manicurist.  She works Sundays and Mondays.  She does a terrific job.  She is clean, and gentle, and the color lasts for days without chipping.

The manicure is $24, the pedicure  $40-both include a hand or foot and calf massage.

This salon does not charge tips, so be sure to have the cash on hand.

During my first visit, I was very pleased with the service.  Chicha did my hair.  It is naturally curly/kinky/wavy (lol) with a soft texture and she blew it out and flat ironed it.  It wasnt the best job I've had because it was still a bit poofy but I think she did well for it being her first time dealing with my hair and it was styled nicely. Chicha was also very quick.  My hair is very thick and she only took about an hour or hour and a half to wash, blow, and straighten. So that was a plus. In addition, she was sick and Im a germaphobe. I saw her cover her mouth to cough and then head straight to the hand sanitizer to apply to her hands. I thought that was commendable before digging into my head. So another plus in my book! :)

I also got a pedicure done by a black woman who's name escapes me. All I remember is that it begin with an 'E'.  She was thorough and I have no complaints.  FYI..there's just not a large variety of polish. Neither Chicha nor the nail tech talked much which was fine with me because I like to relax at a salon and not engage in a bunch of meaningless chatter.

The reason I gave 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is because of the receptionist, Michelle. She's not the friendliest over the phone, somewhat curt and nice nasty mixed with a little abruptness.  But in person, she wasnt too bad. It's just that first impressions are established over the phone and she didnt do a great job of that. Wait! I take that back!  I came into the shop to make an appointment in person and she seemed somewhat annoyed by my presence.  Sooo she wasn't the best in person either. IDK, maybe its her personality and it just comes across as rude. During the morning of my actual appt., she was not so bad and even struck up some "small talk".

All in all, it is a nice salon. I like the music and most of the staff. More importantly, I was pleased with the service. My hair was $45 and my pedicure was $40. FYI...tips must be paid in cash!

I have my hair colored by Aziza, she is the owner of the salon. The receptionists are always friendly and professional, the salon has free parking which is great and the decor is nice and relaxing. It's always clean and I never have to wait when I make an appointment.
Aziza is fast when we color and she knows what I want to achieve. They only use Aveda products which I love. My color for a double process runs $180 and an almost full head of highlights was around $120.
I would recommend this salon as a new person to DC, I didn't find it pretentious.

I bought a groupon for L'Azur Salon and Spa and could not have been more disappointed with the entire experience.

First - the groupon was $50 for $100 in services.  I expected to be able to use all $100 at the salon.  When I called for an estimate of the price for a haircut, I was told $70 so I booked another service for $20 - equalling $90.  I was satisfied with losing $10.  I thought I was booking with the owner.

Second - When I arrived, I waited 10 minutes though the salon was empty.  The waxing was fine.  Then they had a very Junior stylist cut my hair.  She was interrupted twice by the general phone of the salon which she left, answered, and then took appointments.  THe owner and the nail technician sat in plain view folding foils and gossiping.

Third- Turns out, JR stylist was $60 instead of the $70 I was quoted, but, oops no time for additional services.  I was lectured about how bad a deal groupon was for the Salon, how they were not making any money off groupon, and how people bought it for $50 and did not even use $50 in services, so why should I care?  I asked to use some of the remaining money for a $5 aveda travel size item to use the remaining $30 and the OWNER told me it was against her rules and that she would never be able to account for it with her accountant.

I felt like they lied to me about prices on the phone so that they could avoid giving services for the entire $100 of the groupon.  I think its horrible to have a stylist stop mid hair cut, TWICE to answer a phone when it is a $60 hair cut [that is not really even appropriate for a cheaper cut).

Groupons are meant to be loss leaders to bring people to businesses to pay full price at a later date.  When you get bad service when paying 50% of the price, you will never go back to pay double.  I guess if you are nearby, you can probably find a P R and Partners or Bubbles to get a haircut of similar quality, so I'm not sure why anyone would go to this Salon at full price.

Aziza did my color and cut and did a great job.  The salon is a little cold but the staff was terrific.  I would definitely go back.

It's a great place if you want your trip to the salon to feel like you're in the middle of a Mexican soap opera, complete with petty bickering, estrogen fueled arguments, and internal turmoil (all from the management!)  I purchased two gift certificates as a gift for my wife (from Groupon) and she was turned away from her first appointment as the woman at the counter didn't seem to understand the concept of giving certificates as gifts.  I thought the problem was resolved after speaking to her manager, who assured me there was no reason for that to have happened the first time, only to receive more lip from the same annoyingly pompous employee.  On the plus side, my wife's hair straightening turned out beautifully, but in a service based business, customer-service should be the top priority!

It was great!  Aziza cut my hair quickly and did a great job!  I had a little problem with the nail person telling me her whole life's story (and it is kind of a downer) so that was really the only down part.  I absolutely love my hair and will definitely be going back!
