Category: Children's Clothing [Edit]
Neighborhood: NorthgateThis place has it all - seriously - they have everything in this store. It's filled to the brim with things you will want to buy. The staff is friendly but the parking sucks!!!
I was really disappointed, this place was packed full of stuff you couldn't really find much there was so much! Also their "back room" was damp and a gravel paved room it smelt moldy! They keep there stuff out doors all the time. Also their prices were not great! Service wasnt all that great either!
Sure the first thing you think when you walk in the door is dump. But take a deep breath and carve yourself a path. Treasures abound and for the most part the prices are great, especially if you are looking for clothing on the cheap. Most of the baby clothing is in the $2-$3 range. I have picked up several like new products for amazing prices and her trade in rate is wonderul. Much like a thrift store it can be hit and miss. If you are looking for something specific just call and ask the ladies while busy as all get out are always wiling to help. Oh and she has a great selection of used cloth diapers, I had a really hard time finding these when I was diapering our daughter as most consignment shops won't touch them.

I have to say that after reading some of the other reviews on this page I feel I need to correct some things. There is parking down the gravel driveway on the side of the store. It is their parking lot as indicated on their signs along the driveway. There are New strollers advertised on craigslist. They have display models set up and outside when the weather permit. There are new strollers in a unopened box available. The Display models are marked down in price. Although everything is not always in prestine condition it is well worth it when you see how inexpensive it is. I always see people in there with their children and there is also a train table to play with. I agree that some of the other resale shops are presented better but their prices are much much higher. Also Kym's takes same day appointments and you get paid right then and there. You dont have to wait a month for your appointment , then for your stuff to sell, and finnaly to pick up your stuff that didn't sell. They have same day appointments and you leave with money in your pocket or some new things for the munchkins at home :)

Overall, I like Kym's Kiddy Corner because it has so much stuff. It's a great source of things in the largish category (such as exer-saucers, standing play tables, gates, cribs, car seats, etc) because you can save a significant amount of money on these things that tend to cost more new.
They squeeze a ton of merchandise into a tight space, so it can feel claustrophobic. However, if they have what you're looking for (and they often do), you'll get a good deal.
As with most thrift stores, you have to wade through the less-than-nice items for the good stuff. I've found that most of the stuff displayed outside is worth skipping.
They have a nice selection of new toys as well, things more in the "nice wooden European toy" category than the "Barbie" category.
Kym's also buys items, although I'm not to the point yet where I'm selling, so I can't comment on how much they pay.

If you're looking for anything at all that has to do with kids, this is your place...although they don't have any kids to sell, they've got just about everything else.
Good quality new and used toys, clothing, equipment, furniture and loads of advice if you need it (and what parent doesn't need a little advice?)
Don't go to Target! Support local business instead! This is a great store with lots of creative and fun toys for kids, both new and used. Some of the outdoor playstuff like little houses, kitchens, and slides are very used and you can definitely tell they've provided lots of fun in the past. But kids really don't care that much, and they're going to get dirty anyhow, so why not? They also have a great selection of brand new items inside--games, art supplies, clothes, etc.... And the staff is very friendly and helpful. The only real drawback is that there's not a parking lot. So just park on 15th Ave and get a little exercise. :)
I buy almost all the kid stuff I need at consignment or thrift stores and I have to say that although Kym's is the closest store to me, I don't go there often.
They do have a lot of stuff, but there are a few things that keep me shopping further afield.
First, there is no parking, which is a drag if you're buying something larger or if you've got small kids in tow. Sometimes, if it's raining hard, I park in the lot behind them, which appears to be for the building next to them. I know I'm not supposed to, but I've never been towed or ticketed.
Second, you can't bring a stroller in because there are a bunch of stairs up to the door.
Third, everything is so crammed into the store, it takes quite a while to find things. The used toys in the front of the store are piled high and deep, so you have to take many out and put them on the floor to see the rest. I found after the first visit that it's really hard to go there with a toddler, so I only go if I can go alone, which is rare. I don't see many kids in there when I go either, so I'm guessing that others have drawn the same conclusion.
On the other hand, you can get some real deals there. I needed a double umbrella stroller and found one there for $25! Granted, it was moldy and hadn't been cleaned (food stuck to it, mud on bottom), but I took it apart, washed the fabric, and soaked all the parts in the bathtub and it was pretty nice after that.
Overall, if you don't mind the parking issue, you can go w/o young kids or a stroller, and you don't mind that most of the used stuff is pretty grubby, Kym's is a cheap alternative to some of the nicer consignment places.
If you want a place that is fun and easy to go with kids, where they have a train table to play with, and most of the merchandise is clean and in good repair, try Me 'n Moms in Ballard. I consign all my own stuff there.
