Oh, Kuroshio, you have quickly become my favorite place for sushi in the Kennesaw area. You're my favorite place for sushi all in all, as a matter of fact.
I usually start with the Pork Gyoza, which comes with a fantastic scallion ponzu sauce. Delicious.
Next, of course, the salad with ginger dressing. Their ginger dressing is damn fine, and they will sell you some to take home, if you ask.
After that, the Gambo roll, which is " stuffed with blue fin tuna, cream cheese and avocado, topped with sweet broiled unagi and masago." Delicious, sweet, and I love the masago. I could eat two orders of this.
Sometimes, I even splurge and get The Earth Mover assortment, which includes fantastic tuna roll, spicy tuna temaki, rock 'n roll maki, california roll w/masago maki, unagi, maguro, sake & masago nigiri, ahi poki sashimi, served with miso soup and salad. I love EVERYTHING on here, and find the ahi poki sashimi especially perfect and delightful. For $23, this is a pretty good deal, and a good amount of sushi.
I usually order the small hot sake with my meal, and it's a perfect accompaniment. They also offer free filtered water - the Kangen water, if you're familiar.
Service is pretty consistently good, and the food is solid. Given the choice of several sushi places in the area, this is definitely my first choice. Wish they would host another sake tasting soon! -

My husband wanted to rate this place 5 stars because of the hot blonde asian server. Still!
I had the Inaka Yasai Udon Noodle soup. The serving was HUGE! However, the fish cake, inari tofu, and spinach were missing. I mean, those ingredients complete an Udon noodle bowl! Those ingredients were spelled out in the menu, but there was none to be found. I was really looking forward to that sweet inari in my soup ::sad face #1::
Second dish we shared was the Spicy Lemongrass Tofu. I LOVE lemongrass. Despite the name, this dish had no lemongrass pieces or taste. While spicy, had no discernable hint of lemongrass at all. Maybe they forgot to add the lemongrass? ::sad face #2::
The Cha Cha Cha roll, however, was super yummy! Hot Wok shrimp over a fried avocado roll with a drizzle of eel sauce and aioli. Spicy. Sweet. Creamy. Yum! ::happy face::
So maybe we didn't get the proper sampling of what they have to offer. Still on the fence about visiting again. Although I'm sure hubby would be happy to see "hot blonde asian chick" again. -

I hate to give this place anything but a 5 star because their food is AMAZING but I guess you have to take the good with the bad. It's a common theme for dinner to sit at your table for roughly 5-10 minutes before a waiter comes over to greet you. Their food has been worth it to us. Like I said, you take the good with the bad. In their case, the very good!
This has been my sushi place for the past three years. Since my recent move across town, I don't get to go here anywhere near as much as I used to.
We always start with the edamame appetizer. It's the same price as any other sushi restaurant but the portion is probably 3 times larger.
The la rhumba roll is my favorite. That is my usual order. I have tried many other rolls but I always end up with this one! I should mention that their rolls are larger than any other sushi place I've been to. Their lunch specials are pretty slick as well. For ONE DOLLAR more, you can add 6 pieces of nigiri. Ridiculous right? It's a must!
My wife flops between two different things; the shrimp tempura roll or the fried shrimp and scallop dinner. Neither EVER disappoint! Also, my wife claims their ginger dressing is THE BEST she has ever eaten anywhere. It isn't my thing but I believe her. She craves it quite a bit.
Mmm now I want to go tonight, too. -

Great sushi, the quality has never dropped in the times i've eaten here. Service could be better but when served, it is not a regret.

Gawd awful sauce laden sushi for the round eye. The miso and my soda were the highlight of the meal. Too much sauce and too little flavor. blech.

So, I wanted sushi. I don't know why, but we were out on Barrett Pkwy, instead of going to Ege's. I think Kungfu was thinking "mm... Willy's" and drove out here on an impulse while we were discussing sushi.
So... I tried out about three rolls here. It's about as atrocious as Ru San's off Windy Hill. Is this really sushi? The spicy tuna temaki had this weird super sweet sauce and every piece of sushi I ordered had this super sweet sauce on top. I think I stared at it, gave it a try, and spat it back out onto my napkin.
Oh, and I had yakisoba, or this.. thing they called yakisoba. It was horrifying. It was buttery and the saving grace was sriracha that I slathered on top to neutralize this buttery taste. I didn't even taste a HINT of yakisoba sauce, and using pasta in place of yakisoba? What in the world?
Oh, and their seared tuna appetizer was terrible. The sauces here are terrible. It's sweet and has this strange aftertastes. It wasn't ponzu for sure.
When I saw that you could to-go or order extra sauces, I thought in my head, "who in their right minds would ask for more of this?!"
I had some of their cucumber wrapped rolls instead of nori, and uhm. How are you supposed to eat this monstrosity? If it was half the size and if the vinaigrette on it was less sweet, I might be ok with it.
Overall, service was great as Kungfu's sister's friend was our server and she was super nice, but the food? If you think this is sushi, please head over to Ege's for some real sushi. Derek will do you justice and set you straight. -

Nom nom nom! While I have yet to find "the" sushi place this is pretty close. Not only is it close to our house it is pretty delicious.
For this one I am going to do a pros and cons.
PROS: Reasonably priced, expansive menu with several house special rolls that are pretty tasty. Fantastic service, fish and decent beer, wine and liquor list.
CONS: It is not really authentic and it is highly Americanized. The edamame is expensive and edamame for me is not optional.
I do like he sushi and this place always does satisfy the craving but I am still on the hunt for the place. I just think I am going to have to make a significant drive to find it which is okay but when I want sushi close to home this place will always win! -

My husband and I have been going to Kuroshio's at least once a week for a long time now. From a Friday date night to taking visiting out of town family to celebrating special occasions, we love this place.
Coming from Hawai'i we may be a bit more particular about our sushi and sashimi than some others and Kuroshio's does not disappoint.
The staff is friendly and since we have going regularly for a long while it is nice when you get to know the staff and they get to now you. They know what you like to eat, what you want to drink, the minute you sit down.
We have tried other places in the Acworth/Kennesaw area, but Kuroshio's is the best hands down!
Note: When we go on the weekends (at night) it is very noisy, but that is just because they are packed and people are out to have a great time. Weeknight and lunch time are quiet. -

This place was a Huge disappointment. Arrived at 8:30 the place was loud and crowded. Our server was not interested in waiting on us because his friends were sitting a few tables away. The food was mediocre. The spicy tuna was drenched in a sweet teriyaki sauce. The teriyaki beef and rice was Bland and Luke warm. Will not return.

going down hill...I reviewed two years ago, and have been several times since.
The service is horrible.
Food is incoonsistant, I didnt say bad, because It can be really good, especially the udon noodle bowls, it just seems that the same dishes taste different from night to night. It will be awhile before I go back, there is a better place close by.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Had a Gift Cert to this place so I thought I'd try it.
I have to preface this by saying, I used to live in Japan so the "authenticity" of Japanese restaurants weighs heavily on me when I review them. This being said, I was quite shocked when I walked in. Perhaps the multiple neon signs in the windows should've warned me. If I didn't see the large sushi bar to my right, I would've thought I walked into a large sports bar with all the multiple televisions, loud crowds, and loud music. At one point there were about 7 guys at the bar yelling while they all decided to down a shot. It was very very distracting. I like my Japanese restaurants to be calmer but that's just me. I would guess a lot of this attributes to the University nearby, which is OK with me. Whatever works for the business, b/c it was busy.
Service: OK, polite.
Food: Americanized Japanese - Quite a bit of maki, nigiri, and western sushi to choose from. I however prefer my sushi to be made by a sushi chef and not some fellow that just smashed some rice in his hand and threw a piece of fish on top. However i will say that the nigiri was inexpensive and the fish portions generous. I would've preferred it to be fresher though.
My softshelled crab app was overfried, while the accompanying vegetable tempura was underfried.
Drink: Various Japanese beers on draft and in bottles.
Cleanliness: Decent. Could be better considering sushi joints sometimes aspire to a higher standard.
I would come back if I was in the area and craved sushi and was tight on budget. However, I do have my usual haunts I frequent. I wouldn't totally dismiss this place but it's not my very first choice either. -

I don't live anywhere near Kennesaw, but was at the AMC Barrett Commons movie theater on Sunday. I have several http://Restaurant.com certificates, and printed a $50 off $100 since 6 of us were going that day.
I lived in NYC for 5 years, and had what I consider to be the best (freshest, highest quality) sushi there...even at "average" places. Sushi in Atlanta is a totally different thing since there are many "cheap" places with "dollar" sushi...but its generally pretty gross. Ru Sans has definitely gone downhill in the last 10 years, and to get truly good sushi you really need to go to a more expensive place such as MF Sushi in Midtown.
But sometimes you just want some quick, good, nicely-priced sushi in a casual atmosphere...well...that IS Kiroshio in a nutshell. Its a casual type of place that reminds me a little bit of a Moe's Swouthwest Grill on the inside. The server was friendly and prompt, and the menu was delightfully extensive...such that it takes a while to read through everything to finally decide what to get!
The Valentine Rolls were excellent...wrapped in the delicious yellow soy wrapper filled with asparagus and raw tun and salmon. The fish was FRESH...it looked right, tasted right and was on-par with the high-end sushi places in NYC. We had a party of 6, so we ordered a variety of things from Lemongrass Tofu, fried rice (EXCELLENT) and miso soup to Conch salad, shrimp gyoza and Dollar Rolls. All were good.
Its a shame that I live 30 minutes away from Kiroshio because I'd be going there once a week otherwise. It is rare that I venture outside the perimeter, and even more rare that I happen upon great sushi anywhere in Metro Atlanta. So give it a try...but don't expect a posh atmosphere or even an interesting atmosphere. Its just a laid-back, noisy, casual place with tile floors, little decor and crammed-together seating. If you can put that aside...then GO. -

UPDATE: Today (1/28/11) Groupon is selling a $35 meal for $15!

Yummmmmy!!
(Also, this place has gotten a LOT busier so get there early! If you're starving, take a seat at the bar while you wait. But if you see me, get up because I totally gave you that tip and you're in my spot!)
I've been trekking all over the greater Atlanta area looking for delicious sushi. Seriously, look at my profile. You'd think I'd have a mercury problem.
Kuroshio's is the best out of all of them. Ra, Wasabi, Rusans (yuck, I can't believe I dared include it in the list), Sushi Bites, the list goes on and on of places I've tried in Kennesaw, Marietta and Atlanta. Every one of those places either lacked or was inconsistent in one extremely important aspect of good sushi dining: freshness.
Not only has the sushi at Kuroshio's been fresh EVERY single time I've been there (four times now.... in about 3 weeks), but the entire menu from miso soup to specialty rolls to $1 rolls and chicken teriyaki are mouth watering-ly fantastic.
I got the pork teriyaki as take out one day & was shocked at how much food I had to carry home. Four separate containers filled up one grocery-type bag. And that was just one meal.
What else are you curious about? The prices you say? I have NEVER seen prices this reasonable for a place this spectacular. Every time we get our bill we're surprised. (We being my boyfriend and I who I have now turned in to a sushi snob.)
Now, I hope everyone doesn't rush in at once. There's never been a wait when I happen to waltz in and I like it that way.
Recap:
Everything on the menu is delicious + unbeatably good prices + fast, friendly service + great location with lots of parking + monthly specials + 15% discount for students =
I'm sorry, cannot compute.... too much awesomeness for one restaurant. Must be a mirage. -

This is the first place I've tried sushi. Have been to several other sushi places, but this is still my favorite place. The prices are good and the portions are large.
The service is usually top notch. But the past couple of times it's been slipping. I hope this is a temporary issue that gets fixed quickly. -

Kennesaw, GA
The Yelp sticker on their door prompted me to write this. Not to be a jerk, but anyone who gave this restaurant more than three stars does not know sushi. I only stopped in because I was craving sushi and my usual sushi joint (Ege) isn't open on Sundays.
We only ordered sushi - hand rolls, rolls, and a few pieces of uni (sea urchin). The terribly cooked rice made everything we ordered unpleasant. It was overcooked (pasty) and sour from being prepared with too much rice wine vinegar. The sushi makers also packed the rice so tight that it made everything dense. The tempura soft shell crab was over-fried, rather than being light and crunchy as tempura should be... so much so that a piece scraped the roof of my mouth when I bit down too fast. Lastly, they topped almost everything with a dark sauce that was entirely too salty and sweet. Dense and pasty rice with mediocre ingredients... not good eats.
The service was minimal and it took a long time for our food to come out. The manager even stopped to ask if we had waited long. Our server promptly fetched our food from the bar when he saw the manager stop by our table.
Prices were reasonable, but I'd rather pay extra for quality and authenticity. I won't be back. -

It's the best place for Sushi in Kennesaw. They have very reasonable prices and very good sushi. I go with the $1 and $2 sushi, spicy tuna rolls, and a few of the specialty rolls they have with miso soup depending on if I'm eating lunch or dinner.
They also show UFC fights there which is an added plus. Sushi and guys beating the crap out of each other. What more could you ask for? -
Review from Craig G.
Nothing tasted bad and the other members of our party of six loved their rolls. But I found the quality of most of the nigiri disappointing. Only the the octopus had the freshness I expected. The squid was a bit dry, the eel lacked firmness, and the toro's color was a bit off. My wife really loved her house salad with the ginger dressing. My squid salad was very tasty but too dry, and the initial impression that I'd received a huge portion was quickly dispelled when we found that the thin layer of squid salad was hiding an enormous "brillo pad" of tasteless carrot strings. Don't take me wrong: the amount of squid was fine, but it was the deceptive presentation of generosity we found unpleasant.
The rolls were a bit more palatable as the lower quality of ingredients can be disguised or compensated for by the other ingredients. We had the Spider, the Falcon, the Rock-N-Roll, and the Shrimp Tempura rolls. With soft drinks the total came to $66. Not a shocking price, but I've had better sushi at a lower price.
Service was excellent with an attentive, friendly, and accommodating waitress. The atmosphere was decent, but "worn around the edges" and I prefer my sushi served in a place so clean a surgeon would approve of the sterility. The acoustics were a bit noisy and conversation was only possible with the party members immediately next to you.
To accommodate our friends, we would eat here again as the overall the experience was okay. But if it were just my wife and I, we'd either select a different cuisine if we needed to eat in this part of town, or make the trip to a better sushi establishment. -

This spot was a bit of a drive for me, but the food was so worth it!
Our group was quite large and a lot of people wanted a sushi boat, but the waitress suggested two bridges instead to make sure everyone got enough to eat. She was very patient as we were quite a few orders with a couple stragglers to boot! I wound up ordering a couple of rolls to try and my boyfriend ordered the Katsu pork. My guess is that because our group was so big, they wound up giving everyone soup and salad even if it didn't come with your order. The salad was very good and gingery, and the miso soup was warm and inviting. Delicious!
The bridges were GORGEOUS. The set up was lovely and filled to the brim with all kinds of sushi, sashimi, and rolls. No one who bought into that left hungry, and I was fortunate enough to get a piece of yellowtail shashimi that melted like butter in my mouth. It was a very nice, fresh piece of fish, that's for sure! My rolls came out and were beyond fabulous. When they said spicy tuna, they meant it! Even the spicy mayo had a kick to it, which really added to the flavor. My boyfriend's katsu pork was also very good and consisted of good cuts of meat along with fresh veggies and a heaping pile of rice. All was quite tasty!
So big portions, nice servers, great prices, and creative rolls. What more can you ask for? It may be Americanized sushi, but Kuroshio at least takes it to another level that still takes you out of this world. :)Listed in: Domo Arigato Gozaimasu

I came here for my co-worker's birthday lunch, as it is one of her favorite sushi joints. She says it's always crowded, no matter what the time, so I assume it's a great place. I can't say I'm too much of a sushi connoisseur, but if you want authentic sushi, don't come here. If you're into the more Americanized sushi (like I often opt for), then this is the place for you. I got the Crispy Cali, which is a deep fried California roll with a dark, sweet/spicy sauce which I didn't really like (the sauce, I mean). I also got the Wild West Roll, which has snow crab meat, jalapeño, cucumber, and fresh lime, topped with honey and avocado. It's a strange sounding combination, but it was really good! I let some other co-workers help me finish it and they all liked it, too. I'd go back just to get this again.

I grew up in the Midwest, Ohio to be exact but I travel enough to know quality and great service when I see it. This place has an excellent mix of the standard and non standard fare at a sushi place. The ingredients are really fresh and the service was attentive.
I even asked for a roll that is often not presented well to me- the spicy salmon skin roll. The only thing missing was sprouts (but it's not something that has to be there for this roll to work) but that's just because they don't carry it.
I love the ambiance of the place- a mix of sports bar and beautiful paintings and decor. Usually clashing but the TVs don't scream for attention and there's not a plague of them.
If I had to give any feedback on the negative side I'd have to say tea bag brewed green tea makes me a little sad. But I was spoiled by roasted loose leaf green tea back north and you tend to get used to that excellence after a while.
Other than that I will definitely be back and a regular here. -

Wow...fresh. My tastebuds tell me a tantilizing story at lunch. I love that their lunch specials come with prescribed nigiri sushi, as opposed to chef's choice. Each piece a selection of lovingly placed deliciousness. NOT whatever the sushi chef deems MUST go out before it goes bad.
Fairly priced lunch specials, with fresh fresh sushi. If you're there at the right time you can watch one of the sushi chefs turn a WHOLE fish into the managable portions displayed in the sushi case.
If you prefer your lunch cooked, I could not get over the melody of garlic laced sauces that were playing a love duet in the wok. I will be back for more. There is so much more to experience! -

started going here because a friend invited me out to watch a UFC fight at the restaurant (big plus). nothing like eating sushi and watching some asskicking going on. the quality of the fish stays pretty consistant. I have tried both the sashimi and a number of the freshly preapred sushi rolls. even the noodle soup which was pretty good (couldn't finish the bowl and got dogged by my friends). If you like dessert I recommend the bananas with icre-cream. Its definately recommended that you share (huge portion).
they also do special events like Sake tasting, and like I mentioned earlier host most of the PPV Events (UFC and Boxing). -

I still continue to come back here time and again for my sushi fix. We had 36 people here for my birthday and while some of the food come out a little more slowly than most people would have liked, you have to give them credit for keeping up even just a little.
Khoa, the owner, is always kind enough to take our reservation and even though I thought we would only have 20 for my birthday celebration, we ended up with way more and they didn't even bat an eyelash.
With service like that and a genuinely caring owner and staff, how could you go wrong??
By the way, try the Rick's Special Roll, most people I have know who have tried it liked it! Let me know what you think!Listed in: Top Restaurants, Free WiFi Locations

Very well A-OK!
Well, I went during a quiet time of the day on a Tuesday afternoon last week and there were not very many people there. Regardless, I was warmly greeted by the Host as he was walking in the door and even held the door open for me with a warm, genuine smile and I was immediately hosted to my seating, even allowed to sit outside where the seats were clearly folded over. I was very pleased!
Then I was greeted by another passing staff member, which is rather rare in a lot of cases so I must have talked with at least three people that worked there, all very hospital and kind.
The food selection was very wide and I can tell it's the kind of place to bring a heard of friends, with their wide selection of boat sushi. I was very pleased by the miso soup and knew immediately I was in for a real treat! I got a good amount of sushi for very affordable and left with a happy and full belly.
Even without my Certificate from http://restaraunts.com, I still received a GREAT deal and a great about of food!
No rush or sweat here! I'd gladly come back again and recommend it to anyone I know that loves sushi as much as I! -

Excellent sushi (for Georgia, at least) for reasonable prices! It seems like most of the servers and chefs defected from Ru San's, so if you used to go there and wondered why it no longer tastes as good, it's probably because the best folks left for this newer place.
My only complaint is that I signed up for their email notifications and when they advertised a holiday "gift card" special, stating that patrons could use gift cards "from Lowes" and other establishments to pay for their sushi for a limited time, they did not honor this deal when I was there. I showed the server (who claimed to be the cousin of the owner) the email on my handheld and she still wouldn't honor it, insisting that they could only take "visa gift cards." Well, duh. Visa gift cards are good at all sorts of places -- what kind of deal is that?
Oh well -- they still rock. Just don't take their email specials seriously. -

Sushi in Kennesaw is always an amusing experience. Sushi for KSU students made by KSU students.
Don't get me wrong, you could do worse, such as Fuji Hana down the road. BUT despite what every other reviewer says, this is NOT five star sushi.
The rolls we had varied, from one pretty good (owl roll!), two kinda meh, and one throw-up-in-your-mouth-nasty (power roll). Noticed that the menu is largely fried. The decor and environment is clean and modern, but my date complained of being very very cold.
This clientele was mostly KSU students with a few locals. There was one lady in a moo moo, I swear, no lie.
The service was pretty terrible. We waited probably 30 minutes just to have our order taken, probably over an hour between sitting and getting our appetizer. Not a good place if you are in a hurry, or very very hungry.
This place probably deserves a 3, but I'm giving it two, just to take this down to a more reasonable. level.
Probably the best sushi in an area of town, that really doesn't have much in the way to offer sushi-wise. -

My friends and I have a standing lunch date at Kurushio's every Wednesday. We've been going there for over a year and love it. The food NEVER disappoints. We start out by sharing a couple of the Ginger Salads (2 of these will serve 5 or 6 people). I tend to always order the Bagel Tempura Roll but have recently been turned onto the Drunken Tiger. Amazing. Today, we celebrated a birthday and they brought out a flaming, fried ice cream. It was delicious. They have a very friendly wait staff that greets us by name. I like the music too.
Right now, they have $2 house wine on Wednesday (another bonus) and it is very good. Go and Enjoy. Have Fun! -

Had a quick take-out dinner from here tonight - I wish I had known how large the portion sizes were - I would have ordered less!
The seaweed salad and the edamame that I ordered could easily have fed two people.. The edamame was fresh, moist and not overly salted. The seaweed salad had a nice flavor and texture and was way more than I could eat.
I ordered the Volcano & Rainbow roll. The Rainbow roll was a more manageable portion size - and it was very tasty. I did not notice that the Volcano roll had cooked Tilapia on top of it.. otherwise, I would have made an alternative selection. I don't like cooked fish on my sushi. I ate the rolls that were buried underneath the Tilapia - and they were quite good.
If I'm ever in the area again, I'll order wisely the 2nd time around! -

This is probably the best sushi I've had in Kennesaw
The service is always nice and accommodating, even when we request to move tables.
If you eat out alone, they have a sushi bar which is staffed by a quick and efficient staff (however, sadly, the last time I went non of them were Asian... but that's Georgia for ya).
They always do a nice job wither their plate presentations, and the rolls are always tightly-packed.
Another plus: their salads are of a decent portion size. Too often have I been to sushi places where I order a seaweed salad and it feels more like a shot glass than a bowl. All of their salads there are of a good portion to price ratio.
I still continue to frequent this place, even if it's a little out of the way. -

I was here a few weeks ago for my cousin's birthday. This place is not authentic! Its not even owned by Japanese. Sushi rolls were horrible. Especially their Volcano roll. When you go to a sushi resturaunt and they have chinese fried rice on the menu then you know its not authentic Japanese sushi. If you are craving real authentic Japanese food, i suggest you go to a real Japanese owned and run resturaunt.

I had a Groupon for this place, and it was a good deal with that; without it, it could be a little pricey. The food was excellent, and the place was hoppin. The service was a bit dicey, but everything worked out and nobody left hungry. I'll definitely be back, as the rolls I had were mighty tasty.

Stumbling upon this restaurant due to http://restaurant.com was the best thing to happen to me when it comes to sushi dining. I have since added several customers to this establishment just due to my ravings. My first visit several months ago was a girl's lunch with a couple of friends. We never felt rushed and our wait staff was quite attentive. Could be we continued buying drinks after we had completed our meal, but no rush, none the less.
Since this visit, I have brought my sons along a time or two. One of them now requests "that place with the great miso soup". I have only tried sushi here and NEVER been disappointed, even if I have made a bad choice. I feel comfortable in trying new sushi dishes with Kuroshio. It's all fresh and yummy. It's a little pricey, but it's a get what you pay for type situation. You really need to give it a try. -

Great place. Thanks to Yelp for the suggestion. Portions are huge, prices aren't bad. Definitely recommend the "Funky Roll"!!

I've been here a couple times, the last time only because I had a gift certificate from http://restaurant.com. I don't think I would have gone otherwise, and this last experience was just as mediocre or worse then the others.
I would say the sushi is hit or miss. I don't order very complicated rolls, usually just the avocado, california, or eel rolls. Yet all of those have been oddly flavorless (maybe it was the rice? no vinegar or something?) compared to most sushi restaurants I've tried. They seem a little overpriced for the quality and area. Also...I never use soy sauce, I always use ponzu sauce for dipping. And theirs somehow is gross. I have never encountered that before.
Oh, and the music is too loud (usually cheesy trance/techno music) and the service is seriously slowwww. There are some better options 5-15 minutes away, worth the extra drive. -

The sushi here is fresh. I never get scared that it's been sitting out for too long. The menu is pretty good, lots of variety. You don't have to get sushi as there are plenty of other options from chicken teriaki to fried rice. The service is usually pretty good, nothing to brag about. The boat is big enough to feed four people, though you may need five. You can tell the server what fish you enjoy the most and the chefs will use more of that fish for your boat or bridge (feeds fewer than boat).

I always try to ask servers for their recommendations. Sometimes it's obvious we have different palettes, but I totally trusted the opinion of my totally-not-Japanese-but-still-sushi-expert server when I stopped at Kuroshio this past weekend. He suggested the Drunken Tiger roll, and it was excellent. I ordered the Spider roll of my own volition, but I should have requested more assistance because it definitely wasn't as good.
