Need to feel immediately relaxed?  This is your oasis! Upon entering, you can grab yourself a relaxing cup of hot tea or a refreshing glass of fruit infused, chilled water.  The services are amazing here.  Each person is a complete professional, along with being perfectionists!  Which...you gotta appreciate when having a facial.  All the specialists won't let you leave until you are wholly satisfied with the service!

Great massage and infrared sauna. Just wish there was a shower to rinse off. Also, reasonably priced and nice location.

I came in for the infared sauna and facial.  I was greeted by Laurie and she got me all set up for the sauna.  I never experienced an infared sauna before.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.  You set your own temperature and time and you just relax.  I sweated and felt all the toxins being released out of my body.  However, this facility does not have a shower.  There are hot and cold towels for your to wipe yourself down.  It was alright, but I would have liked to shower.

Next, I went in for my facial.  Laurie is sweet and pleasant.  She likes to talk, but not overly.  She does ask your skin type and if you are allergic to anything.  She sort of explains the process as she is working.  The mask she put on my face she explained would tingle, but would go away.  For me it didn't.  She immediately started to wipe it off and said my skin should cool off.  It didn't, but not to the point where I was bothered.  So she continued.  She started to do the extractions...OMG!!!  I hurt soooo bad!  I never had extractions done where I would tear up and ask for a break!

You also get a mini massage with your facial.  Which was fabulous!  Laurie knows how to give you a very relaxing massage.

Ok...why am I giving only 2 stars?  The extractions I believe were not done properly.  I left this place with blotchy red, scarred skin.  I was assured, it would go down in a few hours.  The next few days, my skin started peeling.  In two spots, I had developed a red bump.  I called Linda, the owner, and expressed my concern.  She wanted me to come in, so she can look for herself.  Laurie admitted that perhaps some of my blackheads or what not were not ready and she irritated my skin causing the breakout when she did the extraction.

It has been 8 weeks now, and the two spots are finally not red and obvious!  One of the two red spots was on my nose bridge!  It is hideous and embarrassing!  I was almost sure I was scarred for life.  Thankfully, finally today the redness has gone down and I believe it will eventually go away permanently.

This place is good for massages, but I would forgo any facials.

Have been here quite a few times now.. but yesterday was my first time in since being a yelper, so I just had to write a review. This is hands down my favorite spa in the Bay Area!! So what do I love about it?? The first thing is the spa environment. You cant help but relax from the moment you go in. Its just so beautiful and serene. The next thing I am a huge fan of is the sauna. I do not usually like traditional saunas (too uncomfortable to stay in for more than 5 minutes), but this one feels completely different! Have been in when I am sick to "sweat out" my germies, or after a massage to really loosen up my muscles, or just to relax... and always feel absolutely AMAZING after! You really have to experience it to understand what i am talking about.

The next thing I love about this place is their quality of services. As I said I have been here several times now... and I have never once had  anything but a great massage. Sometimes I want deep tissue, and sometimes I just want more of a soothing, relaxing massage... and Kure is ALWAYS able to accommodate!!  Have been to 2 or 3 different therapists.. and they are all great. They always tailor the massage to whatever specific needs I have... its great to have a "custom"/personalized massage by people who actually know what they are doing!!

I have also had a few facials at Kure... and my skin is always GLOWING after! I looooove the products they use... they smell great and don't irritate my skin. I have sensitive skin that's really hard to work on as its both dry and oily... but Kure knows how to make my skin look great. The same thing I said about the massage therapists customizing your massage applies to the estheticians as well... every facial I have received is tailored to target my skin issues.

I could sing Kure's praises all day... but I'll wrap it up by saying that I would HIGHLY recommend checking out this spa!! I am a bit of a spa junkie so I have tried a number of spas... and this one is the best of the best. Enjoy!! =)

So, after 6 months without a facial or a brow wax, I was feeling desperate and knew the woman I had been seeing here in town would not be available short notice. This is how I came to find Kure Wellness Retreat. I love Yelp and love that I can find places I would not have known about otherwise. What I forget is that sometimes, I need to see how many reviews each person who rates a place 5 stars has written before and how they write/rate other places before believing what I read.

    What I liked:
-How quickly I was called back and how diligently the receptionist(or owner?) worked to fit me in with someone.
-The atmosphere itself and the gorgeous water feature. I also liked the green/brown color combination of the place.
-The hand and arm massage given to me during my session.

    What I didn't like:
-My facialist was late. I did not realize this was not an establishment with actual employees, but paid contractors. The woman I was set up to see was there "on call".
-The amount of time it took her to come to the room once I was undressed and on the table and again to return once I was dressed.
-The constant "upsell" during the entire thing for products, peels, eye/lip treatments, etc.
-The cost for a 60 minute facial. It turned out to be more than a 90 minute would have been due to the "special" being run at the spa. Sadly, the 90 minute was not available, but they could have given me the discount.
-The fact that my skin didn't feel light or glowing later in the day or the next (even with the addition of the glycolic peel).

I added the eyebrow wax and granted, I had not had my brows done in a while. I do take care of strays, etc. and do not have hairy brows in general, I just wanted to have them "cleaned up a bit'.

What is unacceptable is that the facialist ripped my skin. I have a small area under my brow area that is raw (this is not a burn, the skin is actually gone). Both above and below my brow lines now have dry, scaly skin that even the best moisturizer, cream, ointment, etc. is not helping much. It will take a few days to heal but beware. When I told the facialist my skin was burning around my brow area after she put some sort of mask on my face. She quickly got a cool washcloth and wiped it off the area, and then made a few excuses about being sensitive and that sometimes redness from waxing is worse the next day and that maybe I needed to put some neosporin and that would make it feel better. At no time did she say that she ripped skin, that I was raw-nothing.

So, will I come back? The jury is out. If I come back it will not be for a facial with the woman I saw. I might try a massage or one of their other services someday, but I have some serious reservations about ever getting anything waxed here. I could only imagine this happening to my nether-regions if I ever decided to go "there"!

I took my father here for his birthday so he could be pampered. We both scheduled time in the sauna and massages. Our therapists were Linda and Kate. Linda was wonderful and delivered exactly what I wanted. My dad said that Kate gave him an incredibly relaxing massage which left him renewed and stress free.

The owner has done a wonderful job in creating a healing, holistic and restful space at Kure with blue, white and dark brown tones, and a beautiful water feature along one wall. There are private lockers for your things and spa robes and slippers.

So wonderful and so close by. I would recommend Kure to others.

The hubby treated me to the best massage and facial treatment I've ever had in my lifetime!  Dorothy worked on my back and I can't say enough about how extrememly helpful she was.  She is the first person who truly acknowledged my stiff neck and shoulders and concentrated more on that area to work out them knots. Usually, no matter where I go, they tell you to write down where you want to be worked on, but still go through the same full-body routine and before you know it, the hour's up and you're left wondering what happened to the spots I wanted them to concentrate on?!  I didn't even have to ask Dorothy, she knew exactly where I needed the most help and even after our session was up, she told me she wished she could have had more time to work on my back! (cuz that's how bad my knots are, lol)

I normally don't like getting facials because they've done more harm to me in the past than good, but my session with Laurie changed my whole outlook on facial treatments!  She refreshed my whole face by giving me a great facial massage, performed an extraction on tiny white spots that I never knew could be removed.  Also, Dorothy had told her about my stiff shoulders, so she performed another massage technique to help me even further!

After one visit to Kure, I am definitely a fan and cannot wait to go back here!  I'm truly happy my hubby learned from me and did his research on yelp to give me the best surprise bday gift yet!

Last night I slept like a champ! Had another massage with Grace - and it was the best! The bf finally relented and went to get a massage with Grace before mine. (He typically does not get massages because he complains that they are never all that good and that they are not 'strong' enough). He 'actually' agreed that Grace gave him the BEST massage he has ever had - how about that! Trust me, this guy is REALLY hard to please. He even went as far as trying to figure out when he would get his next one!

ALSO, had my first waxing session with Katia. I have had bikini waxes before - including brazilians - but I have to agree with the other yelpers in saying that Katia's style and light touch has made this the most pain-free experience (as much as it can be at least) I have ever had. She was great - and she is also funny, easy to talk to and a complete professional. I will definitely be a repeat customer! It's refreshing to meet someone who truly enjoys what she does and is good at it!

So, nothing new - but just reiterating that this place is great!

My sister had just arrived from Australia and we both wanted to get our eyebrows waxed. We tried to get an appointment at a couple of salons in Danville but they were all booked out ... lucky for us as we came across Kure Wellness Retreat through Yelp and decided to try our luck to see if we could get in.

We made an appointment for both of us at 6.30pm and were told that Julie Harris would be doing our eyebrows. We arrived early and Julie was available which was great as we had dinner plans that night.

What can I say? Julie did an amazing job on our eyebrows. She asked us what we'd like done and gave us some recommendations. Although we were her last clients for the day, she took her time; explained what she was doing and made sure we were happy with the end result.

Given this single experience I would definitely go back there again and would try some of their other services. My sister also said she'd come back again on her next visit to the Bay Area.

My first visit was WONDERFUL.  The best facial I have ever had, anywhere!  I had an organic 90 minute facial and was so impressed, I purchased some of the products.  Smells great.  I've never had such a massage during a facial.  Almost afraid to tell you how good it is here; I may not be able to book a return engagement!

Cheryl is hands down the best! I felt as though I had a full body massage after my facial because I was so relaxed! She uses only the finest products on my face and I am glowing when I leave. Try her once and you'll never go to anyone else. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! It's also right across from Vinoteca, a great wine bar!

This review is for waxing services only.

I followed Laurie from a different salon. She is amazing!  She takes her time every time no matter what.  She is very sweet.  Talkative if you feel like talking and quiet if you feel like being quiet.  She does a wonderful job waxing. Unfortuanately since she moved to Danville, she is way more expensive then she used to be but is worth every penny!!

I tried Kure a few weeks ago after having my back ache for weeks. I had Kate as my therapist and she was wonderful. Kure is more than a place to get a massage, its staff really try to help you alleviate your pains & aches.

Kate made several suggestions to me as to how I could improve my back pain and gave tips without being overbearing or giving off that "I'm getting lectured by mom" feeling. Most massage places will just recommend that you come back once a week/month etc to maintain your work but at Kure you can tell they really do care & are trying to help.

Now a few weeks later, Kate has me aligned and I can feel such a difference in my back. I can't wait to go back! Give it a try. Its in Danville in

KuDOS previous yelpers. This place was amazing.

From the moment you walk into the building you are greeted with the warm scent of lavender and the cool torquise, cream and brown colored decor is so calming, as is the giant water feature on the back wall.

My hour long swedish from Rachelle was by far the best massage I have ever had. She diagnosed ailments in my body within minutes of starting and offered simple remedies, like simply drinking more water!

My friend received her massage from Debbie and said it was fabuluous as well.

They are cheaper than neighboring day-spas and offer more professional service than anyone I've ever gone to.

The only thing I didn't like about my massage: that it had to end :(

    Can't wait to go back!!

Seeing all the 5 star reviews I was very hopeful but I'm very sorry to say I was disappointed:( I ll give the pros It is a beautiful decorated and very meticulous in details in terms of decor but sadly services have room for improvement. Massage ok not terrible but not good enough. Facial really not good. I loved the way the product smelled but the facial rushed and left grains all over me face and hair. My skin felt kinda grimy not how it usually feels after a facial. Infrared is something I adore and the reason I chose this place. But to get the benefits of it you need to do dry body brushing before they have those for sale but not to use. And there is no shower for after to wash all the toxins you perspired off so you leave feeling gross and sweaty. That not my idea of a retreat sorry. I really had high hopes and have been to many spas hopefully they will work out the kinks.

I had a wonderful experience at Kure Wellness Retreat when visiting my sister in the bay area.  I went here to treat myself as I have been going through a tough time in my life and felt the need to take care of myself.  I enjoyed a wonderful massage by Rachelle, it was very relaxing and just what I needed.  She was very in tune with what was going on in my body and really knows her stuff.  Very intuitive.  Julie, the acupunturist was very attentive and extremely knowledgable.  It was the first time I received acupuncture and I was really nervous about it, but she immediately put me at ease and I found it to be relaxing, which was a nice surprise.  Ruth Kellogg worked with me on some intuitive, spiritual healing.  I have never experienced anything like this before and she really helped me with the issues that I am currently facing.  If you are going through a tough transition in your life or simply want to feel better about some things, I highly recommend Ruth.  I liked her very much.

I then enjoyed 30 minutes in the infrared sauna.  It is tucked away in it's own separate space and it was just the perfect thing to do between treatments.  This is not like those dry, rock saunas.  I don't like those, but I did enjoy using this one with the infrared heat.

Lastly, I also received a 90minute facial with Julie Harris.  I really enjoyed the Eminence Organic skincare line that she used.  Everything smelled so wonderful and I could actually feel the products tingling and working on my skin.  She was very thorough with her extractions and my face felt so clean!  I also enjoyed the massage, the pressure was just right and she put me to sleep.  I'd also like to comment that I had my brows waxed and I usually get so red after being waxed.  The wax she uses is of superior quality.  I hardly turned pink and it didn't hurt as much as other waxes.

Overall this was a 5 star experience.  Everyone was so nice and professional and it was just what I needed.  It is casually elegant and very clean.  Next time I am visiting the bay area I will definitely go back.

I had the pleasure to experience a massage at Kure. Rachelle was a massage therapist who had come into our office for a day of corporate massages and she did a great job so I decided to give her a try at the spa. I have to admit I have been going to a massage therapist and good friend for over 10 years who really is incomparable but extremely difficult to get an appointment with so I was not sure what to expect. The spa was very tranquil and serene and had a very zen feel to it with the decor and Buddha's. Rachelle's massage was great. She is a very intuitive healer and body worker. I have had many massages in my days and I would highly recommend Rachelle as she even gave my massage therapist of over 10 years a run for her money!

Coming from San Francisco where there are a variety of top notch facial spas to pick from,  I was pretty happy with Kure as an overlal spa.  I do have two small complaints:  1) first visit my masseuse spoke too much and wasn't that great.  2) Second visit had a great massage BUT what this place desperately needs is a receptionist to get appointments straight and meet and greet walk in customers which they promote.

My hubby sent me there for Valentine's and at first it wasn't what I expected and after speaking with the owner, Debbie, she invited me back to try it again.  This time it was WONDERFUL!  I must say, it was THE BEST massage I had in a long time and I had over 40 massages just last year alone!  The ambience is nice. It's small and cozy but the decor is exquisite.  The only thing I didn't like was walking to a public restroom down the hall in the middle of other businesses in my robe. So I recommend stopping to the bathroom before you change into your robe. I will definately recommend to my friends and patients and I would definately go there again for another amazing massage from Debbie!!

This place is still going strong! Even though I've cut back on many expenses these past few months, I can't tear myself away from the services at Kure. Debbie is seriously the best massage therapist around, which is why I followed her here from the salon she worked at before Kure. Now my husband and uncle go to her on a regular basis as well. The spa is very tranquil, and even more so now that the business next to them is no longer there and Kure seems to have the whole floor to themselves. There's a fabulous new facialist that came from Burke Williams too and I love that everyone continues to use pure, natural products. I've never been "upsold" anything during the many times I've been here, which is actually very important to me. I tend to shy away from spas or salons that push their products because I like to do a lot of research before I decide to go with a specific product line versus purchasing something on a whim. That being said, I'd still consider any of the products Kure carries since Debbie also does her research and doesn't carry products with all of the ingredients that I try to stay away from (propylene glycol, sulfates, petroleum, etc.) The prices here are very reasonable, especially for the level of service as well as the location and luxe feel of the space. It may be tough times right now, but a little pampering always makes me feel better and at least I feel like I'm getting a great bargain.
