I love Korean BBQ, but I was pretty disappointed with this place.  Although the wait was not too long, the service was not that bad (for a Korean restaurant), but that may be because they seat you at a table with other people.
However, the food itself was very bland and much too expensive for the quality.  They also do this weird thing where they ask you whether you want your meat cooked in the kitchen or on the table.  I assumed that they would allow me to cook it myself on the table (like most Korean places), so I chose that option.  They brought out this portable grill that looked like it would fall over at the first sign of a stiff wind.  They then proceeded to cook my meat for me, leaving and returning every now and then to check on it.  Eventually, they said I could start eating it.  That was pretty random...

I must say that there ventilation system was really good.  This is the first time that I went to a Korean place and did not leave completely smelling of Korean food.

Where do you go to find non-greasy, yet comforting, grub at 3 in the morning, after a long night of drinking at a lounge in Midtown or Chelsea?  K-town, of course.  However, choosing from all the brightly lit restaurants that line the short span of K-town's W 32nd Street can be a tough decision.  But Yelpers led me to the right place: Kun Jip.

Kun Jip was my late night meal haven while I was in NYC.  No matter what time I came here, whether it was 1am or 4am, this place was always scattered with tables of people here and there.  The late night staff were friendly and accommodating -- banchan were served before we even ordered.  The banchan changed each time I came and the variety was delicious.  I especially loved the egg banchan they give you in the beginning.  One big steaming stone pot of an egg souffle of sorts.  Their budae chigae (processed meat casserole galore), kalbi tang (short rib soup), and kam ja tang (spicy pork bone and potato casserole) were all perfect endings to nights of inebriation.

Prices are typical of what you'll see at most Korean restaurants.  I've heard stories from friends that service is rude and they herd you like cattle when the place is packed during the day.  But luckily for nights owls like us, service is friendly and the atmosphere is inviting.

The Kalbi/Galbi was very tasty, as was the cinnamon drink they bring at the end.

We didn't know what to do with all the add-ons they brought out, but we tried them all. Not a fan of most of them.

Service and decor were very good. We were lucky to be seated right away because a long line formed right after.

I cam here last night. I really enjoyed it.
There was six of us and it came out to be just about less than25 dollars per person.
We ordered white beef soup, seafood pancake, veggie bibimbab, clear sesame oil noodles, rice cake dduk boki, tofu bowl, soju, & ob beer.
It tasted all reallllllllllly good, and i love how they had purple rice (kinda..it was majority white rice with some purple rice in there) and they had steamed egg for appetizer :) :) :)
I was very full when i left, with a big smile on my face!

First of all, this may be the most efficient restaurant I have ever been to.  You wait in like for a minute or two, then the hostess gives you a menu. When you get close to the front of the line, she will take your order. Then you wait inside a little bit. Once you get shown to your table the food comes out within minutes. This process is surprisingly not annoying.
The food is good. My go to place to get jiggae.
The Ssam gyop sal is a bit on the pricey side, but the pork is thick and fatty. They will also make fried rice when you are done if you order enough.
Seafood Pa Jun is good.
Ban Chan is all pretty legit.
All the Jiggae are good.
Duk Boki is too sweet though.
I wish they wouldn't give that weird cinnamon drink. Just stick to Shikhae
P.S. Korean joints are not know for service, so get with it and just roll with it.
P.P.S. You can order beers while you wait in line!!!!!

Kun Jip is supposed to be one of the best places on the block, but the food is par for the hood and -2 for the wait.

I don't mind waiting, but I do mind waiting in a line snaked along the interior of the restaurant. The food has to be exceptional to go through that kind of stress. We tried the pork belly which is supposed to be their specialty. Too tough. Then they have to rush you out as the snake line encroaches on your table.

Just go at 3am and then no complaints.

Randomly stumbled upon this restaurant since I saw so many people waiting in line on a Saturday night.  Wait was about 20 minutes on a Sat night.  They just make you wait in a line in the restaurant like Miss America and you have to order while still waiting.  I had the bean curd soup w/ seafood and the bean curd was very soft and silky.  What I loved were the side dishes especially the steamed egg soup.  Can you believe it's only $10?  I didn't know cause when I ordered, their picture menu didn't have prices.

Very loud place and if you get one of those tables next to all the waiting people glaring at you, just know that they'll promptly serve you and give you the bill in under 20 minutes.

I really have no idea how people think this place is good.  On 32nd street where all korean food is average, Kun Jip is bad at best.  All the food is loaded with MSG and salt.  As for the service, if you want to be rushed through your meal and get your check before your done eating, then this is the place.  Want good korean food, goto flushing or bergen county NJ.  Then come back to NYC for comparison in taste and price.
It amazes me, people actually wait in line for this place.

Sometimes it is hard to make a choice when seeking dinner in Koreatown because there are so many amazing places to choose from and they are all around the same price.  We ended up choosing this place because they had a small size version of Dukbokki, and the prices were slightly lower than other places.  The resteraunt is smaller then most, consisting of only one level with a long narrow dining hall.  We were there around 5:00pm, so we did not have any problems being seated.

The banchan dishes were minimal, only about four dishes and nothing that delicious.  The cabbage kimchi was not even fermented.

So, I ordered the small version of the dukbokki (spicy rice cakes) for $9.99 and there were only 4 rice cakes in the whole dish, and it was not even spicy!  Shilla's is $14.99, but much better.   I also ordered the Je Yook Gui (spicy pork BBQ) $19.95, which was also not even spicy.  And, was also the smallest portion of pork that I have ever had at this price, maybe 10 ounces if I was lucky.  When you order the BBQ meat items here, they bring out a portable frying pan for you to cook it on and lettuce leaves and spicy bean paste to wrap it up in.  It was somewhat bland, and for the same price you can go to another place on the block that actually has a coal fire grill built in the table with a ventilation system, too.  The Kong Bi Ji (tofu sludge soup) $10.95, tasted like mac & cheese without the noodles, and was very bland.  To be honest the highlight of the meal was the scrambled egg in dolsot (stone pot) that came as a side dish with it.  The Dolsot BiBimBap was pretty standard, but the spicy paste was too thick and just tasted like straight up gochujang without any other flavorings.

FYI- There as a line for the restroom the entire time of customers that had just eaten.  And, after our meal our stomachs hurt just the same.

I do not even remember the end of the meal, because by then there was a line of customers arguing and waiting for a table lined up all around the back of the restaurant, where we were sitting.  They were very loud and fighting with the staff and causing me stress, so we just paid and left.  That was $89.00 wasted, but a lesson learned.  I can cook better Korean food at home.

Think Disneyland line.

At peak hours (6:30pm - 9pm on a Fri/Sat night), you stand in an initial line at the doorway.  The host gives you a menu and even takes your order.  As you think you're the next person to be seated, the host scuttles you across the restaurant to the back, near the restrooms, to stand in front of a Korean-lettered chalkboard for line #2.  After about 30-40 min wait, you are seated.

Sometimes, the food comes out earlier than your seat.  For example, our seafood pancake (which is a MUST-ORDER - delicious, melt-in-your-mouth seafood gooey goodness) seemed slightly lukewarm as we had ordered it in line #1.

Why go here: The best sides!  Plentiful, huge portions beat all the Korean tiny side dishes we have in the SF Bay Area.

Money-saving tip: For bibimbop (rice/vegetable/meat) and tofu soup lovers -  As for the bibimbop, I'd highly recommend the $16.99 new combination of bibimbop with strips of meat and soondubu (tofu soup).  Though the tofu soup is 1" in diameter smaller in size compared to ordering one separately, it's a deal vs. ordering a $10.99 tofu soup that is exactly the same.

Drink tip:  Always ask for tea and water, otherwise they'll see you and give you one or the other.  I didn't speak Korean, so they gave us water.  We wanted tea, too!

The dessert is some kind of sweet water/tea... tastes sugary, but at least they come with something vs. other places with nothing to cleanse the palate.

Since Kun Jip is open 24 hours, you'll find me here after a fun night of dancing--a gal can work up quite an appetite, ya know?   While you wait for your order, you can rely on their many many side dishes (steamed egg custard, for one, oh my!) to hold you down until your entree arrives (super quick!).  There's nothing like recapping your night with friends, while slurping your soup or noodles.  Did I say slurp?  YES!  Kun Jip is like an Asian diner in my book...no one cares because they're all sobering up in the wee hours of the morning (you'll notice a sea of red faces around you)!

As for me, I'll be the one slurping the udon noodles from their nakji bokeum.  You'll find your favorite too...from seafood pancakes/pan fried dumplings to a huge selection of soups/stews (perfect for sharing on a cold winter night), or rice dishes, etc.  And if you met up with friends late, you can catch up and drink there, too!

This is, by far, my favorite korean restaurant in NYC!

As someone who has an insatiable hankering for korean food, I am eternally grateful that I found Kun Jip! I've mostly developed my palette for korean food, back home in SoCal and the west coast in general. Comparatively speaking, Kun Jip is right up there with those other equally superb, korean restaurants. I'd highly recommend getting any of the casseroles for two, spicy pork strips, and the seafood pancake!

Although very friendly and bilingual (at least some are), the waiting staff can be a bit pushy at times. This is especially evident when one is ordering or done with their meals. The latter is mainly due to the fact that the place is always bustling and new customers are trickling in by the minute, but I like to savor and enjoy my meal with conversation.

However, with an outstanding selection of quality, korean specialties in family-size portions and moderately inexpensive prices, Kun Jip will fit the bill for an authentic, Korean BBQ experience.

After living in Boston for three years with their horribly subpar Korean food offerings, eating at Kun Jip was like taking the first sip of a cocktail after a long day at work, or tearing off the wrapping paper off a long-awaited package, or diving into a pool during an excruciatingly hot day, etc.... (you get my point.) Extremely satisfying. :)

The atmosphere and the service is a little Soup Nazi-esque, but the food is definitely worth the long wait. I had the Kimchi Jigae and my friend had the Budae Jigae. Both were excellent and similar to what comes out of my mom's kitchen (and goddamn it, I can never seem to reproduce it quite right... perhaps it's the poor quality Kimchi that's in Boston). The banchans were plentiful, delicious, and replenished in a timely manner. Also, yay for the Gyeran Jjim (steamed egg with scallions)!!!

Perhaps I have been without proper Korean food for so long that my opinion of this place is a little skewed, but I still think it's four star-worthy.

i heart kunjip.  Although I've only been here twice, I'm hooked with what I've tasted thus far.  My first time was dinner with my lovely cousin who said that the place is usually very packed.  Well there was a line when we walked in but it must have been our lucky day because there was a little table for two waiting for us when we arrived!  What do I love about Kunjip?  Well, you can find a little of everything.  You can satisfy those who love soondubu (spell check??) because there are many varieties.  Or are you simply a meat lover?  They have your korean bbq.  Those die hard kalbi/bulgogi lovers may object to the fact that it's not cooked over one of those grills set in the middle of the table but I LOVE it because it means that my clothes/hair don't reek of meat after my meal ... thus no need for my friend to febreeze me !  What else is so awesome about kunjip.  The choice between regular or large for their appetizers!!!!  I love their rice cakes cooked with vermicelli, beef and vegetables.  I'm also a fan of their seafood pancake.  Now do I really need a standard portion for my tiny self?  At most restaurants I would have no choice but at Kunjip, I can easily opt for the smaller portion which is conducive to my summer diet.  Finally, what else draws me to Kunjip is their beautiful menu, all decked with colored pictures!! Helps me choose but at the same time, takes me longer to decide because I want it all.

Want to skip that line during lunch but still catch the lunch special? Do what I did and order to go.  Might have been a smarter idea to just call in advance but I ordered while there and it took 20 minutes.  It is free delivery and CC purchases require $20 min.  You get all the ban chan with your order to go!!!!

My favorite Korean food joint in NYC's K-town street at the moment (3 times in the last 4 weeks, hah), Kun Jip came highly recommended to me by my NYC friends. Coming from LA, it's comforting that there exists a restaurant that I can depend on for above-average, albeit not superb, Korean food. You get your standard Korean fare - soondubu, bibimbap, all those panchan - in addition to the more "home-style" Korean food. All tasty, and I would especially recommend getting the seafood pancake (sorry all the hangooksanam reading this, I don't know the real name for it). I wouldn't recommend the Korean BBQ; this isn't the restaurant for it. Although the BBQ is cheaper than a legit place, it's still not worth the money.

Always expect a wait when you come to Kun Jip. I've come at all hours, including very odd hours, and there's always a line, one that usually goes out the door. Seating is cramped, meaning there's always a whole bunch of people in there, lending the Kun Jip a noisy ambiance that's easily tuned out. Grab dinner at Kun Jip and afterward pick up some Red Mango/Pinkberry or if you're going boozing, hop across the street to Woorijip and pick up a bottle or two of soju. At the moment, Kun Jip is my go-to place for Korean.

My third day of craving Korean food is getting way out of hand so I pursuaded my brother to go to K-town with me.

I wanted to try the Korean, "Cafe Zaiya"  at Woorijip but the line was madness!  Instead, we strolled across the street to Kun Jip.

It was pretty packed in there but our wait for 2 wasn't too long  - about 5 minutes.  The waitress had us sit in the "waiting area" sorta-speak, and pre-order from the menu.  When we got seated, our meal came out very promptly.  Not too bad for a weekday, lunch-hour rush.

My Yook Gae Jang (hot and spicy beef stew with assorted vegetables, bean curd, slices of beef) wasn't too bad for $8.95.  It was piping hot in temperature (not taste), that I almost burned my mouth a few times.  I only wish they added more stew meat to make the bowl of hot goodness even more yummy.

I would come here again. Expect to be seated snugged with your fellow neighbor and do not sit around for a long after meal conversation as the waitress waits impatiently for you to leave the table for the next customer.

An amazing place for lunch! All of the food was fresh and full of flavor. The squid and kim chi were out of this world. I had the rice cakes, dumpling and beef flavored soup and it was out of this world. The dumplings weren't greasy - they were full of natural flavor. The rice cakes were melt in my mouth delicious. The complementary tea and the desert drink were excellent additions. I'll definitely be back.

Just be prepared to wait a few minutes during lunch time (the place is packed - for a good reason). Service is a bit rushed/harried, but that didn't detract from the high quality food.

To be honest, I was never a fan of Korean food, until I went to Kun Jip. It came out of blue that I wanted some Korean soup on a windy day. I went to Kun Jip, recommended by a friend, and OMG their spicy ox tail soup was beyond delicious! For an anti-spicy person like me to fall in love with this place, it definitely has some charm. I went back in a row and tried some other dishes along with some soup. For someone who is a light eater, try not to order too much as Kun Jip offers yummy side dishes (free and refillable of course) that are going to fill you up quick

Now I consider myself somewhat of a Korean Food Snob. Mainly because I'm a foodie and Korean food is my favorite category.  I consider LA korean food to be the best, although I know I haven't tried Queens/New Jeresey Korean food like everyone tells me to.

Kun jip was the first sit down restaurant I've really eaten at in NYC, other than Gam Me Oak. 2 of us got there first, and it was incredibly crowded and stuffy.  I can understand that since it was Friday night at 6pm, but man--- it was AMAZINGLY stuffy.  We had to wait since our party wasn't there, but when we finally got seated into a cramped table of four, we all decided to get the same thing: soondubu.

I think K-town soondubu in LA is the best, so I don't think it comes even close. But it was pretty decent. They only have one kind of soondubu, which is I guess pretty much kimchi and seafood?

I had my friend try the budaechigae and that was pretty ok too. I liked how it came in its personal little dish with a constant fire going on underneath.

The staff is very nice and efficient.  Other than the heavy crowds (which apparently they can't be blamed for) I do like this place. 3 stars is pretty good for a Korean place for me. I haven't tried any of their meat, so I'll probably repost about that!

Great for groups.  I ordered the Haemul Gobdol Bibimbop and I DEVOURED it.   Bottle of soju costs $13, which isn't bad.  Wish they had some flavors.

Service is nice as well.  I've been here twice, and will definitely go again!  If dining alone I'll still go to Kom Tang, but with others this'll be the spot.  Much more crowded and livelier.

I've been looking forward to eating Korean food for the longest time because I've heard such good things about it.
Well last night I was suppose to actually go to Kion (peruvian fusion) but after looking at the menu pricing and my wallet, I figured Kion wasn't in that stars for me that night. So the group and I went over to 32nd area just looking for places to eat and some recommended Kunjip.

It was around 7pm and the wait too a while but I wasn't mad or anything, I don't mind waiting for good food.

We were seated and orders were placed BUT I did not partake in the order process. Our first round came out (appetizers I guess) and I don't know what my friends ordered but it was a NO-GO. They were cold and I wasn't really sure what the motivation was behind the dishes.

Then the next thing that came out was a big/broiled fish. first things- I dislike broiled fish in general. The one served here was salty and it was bones in it. OH hellz naw!  Okay maybe I'm being a bit prissy but I like my fish boneless thank you.

Next, they started grilling meat next to my face...meat was okay but it wasn't well done...I like my meat well done without a trace of pink.
The rice was okay...it was plain rice but cooked with some kind of beans that gave it color.

Oh so the best thing i tasted overwhile was a stew type of dish with meat and carrots it in. It wasn't "Great" but compared to everything else, it was the winner of the night.

Needless to say, 3 of the 5 individuals in my group (myself included) were kinda disappointed.

I will say that since I did not partake in the ordering of the food, I will allow the fact that my friends made BAD decisions in terms of ordering. I'm pretty darn good at ordering things that are tasty esp when I'm in new territory I try to order nothing too crazy.

I will definitely try to visit another korean place. Oh before coming to Kunjip we did stop by Red Mango down the street because they had free yogurt ...I think that was the real highlight of my night.

After reading really positive yelp reviews, I made a reservation a month in advance for a large party to try out Kunjip the Friday after Thanksgiving. I called a couple of days in advance to confirm the reservation. When our party arrived there this past Friday, they had given away our table and said that there was no record of any reservation under my name. The lady by the door said that I couldn't even go inside the restaurant to discuss the issue with the manager. WHAT KIND OF RESTAURANT IS THIS?

Since there is always a long ass line outside of the ladies bathroom, my favorite thing about kun jip is that there is a garbage can and chair right outside so I can puke freely without waiting. This is good since it leaves my stomach hungry and craving for more post-drunkdom late night korean food. This place is always very crowded at nighttime so the service is VERY quick. As soon as they bring out the banchan I start to sober up and become happy. I think all the foods here are safe bets, pretty much the same stuff you can get on the rest of the block. I usually like to start off with either seafood or kimchi pancakes and follow up with some hot kimchi jjigae and some grilled mackarel. Yum.

Came here on the recommendation of a DC friend who hangs out in NY quite a bit.  Wasn't impressed.

First, we got up to the restaurant and then had to wait in the entry corridor.  The lady handed us some menus and then asked us to order right there.  I'm like, "what???"  Not the kid gloves I get at Yecheon (yeah, I do know the folks there so I guess that helps).  Then, once we order, we get ushered inside to wait next to a table where a couple is trying to finish their meal.  We watch as the waiters wait for the right moment and then start scooping up their dishes while they're polishing off the last bits of food in their bowls.

Then we get seated but ask if we could change our orders since they had some specials written in Korean that weren't on the menu.  But apparently they already put our orders in and said it was too late to change the food.  Uhhh, WHAT?  We hadn't even sat down!  Whatever.

So we were seated and promptly given our food.  The pork bellies we ordered were fired up immediately and the other stews and dishes followed soon after.  Once we were mid meal, the lady was quickly cooking off all of our pork so she could make kimchi fried rice for us.  Once that was done, she flung it off into a couple of dishes and then put it in front of us.  I don't even remember how quickly they walked off with the table grill.

We got through most of the meal but my friend looked like she was still eating when they brought out the soo jung gwa (a cinnamon punch) and took our dishes.  The soo jung gwa tasted terrible - something was absolutely off and then they handed us the check.  I paid but they were so damn efficient, they took off with the check and cash before I could scoop all of the ones out of my wallet to pay the tip.

I left one dollar on the table and that resulted in the little waiter chasing after us and asking if the service was bad.  I explained to him that they were too efficient and I had already paid with tip before I could get everything out of my wallet.  He chuckled it off with me even though I was sort of serious - ease up people.  I felt like I was force fed and booted out of that place in short order.  Not my cup of tea.

The line was out the door and the hostess was really uptight about having every single person in our party of 9 physically present before she would seat us.  She threated to give our table away and made us look at the menu and place our order while we were standing in line.  Once I was seated inside the restaurant , I realized why they were running their business the way they did.  This place is very efficient.  The busboys basically stand next to your table when you are almost done so that they can quickly clear the table and seat the next party.  There is nothing calming or zen about this place.

I must say though, ordering while in line turned out to be a good thing since our food arrived almost as soon as our butts touched the chair.  Most importantly, the food was good.

I probably should not even review this place yet, but I'm sure it'll be updated soon, so I'm just gonna roll with it...

The first time I came here was after Maria's B-day party - karaoke and round after round after round (etc...) of sake.  Not only that, we had headed over to Space to shoot some pool afterwards.  After leaving Space, Maria continued the celebration at Kun Jip - thank goodness for 24-hour joints in K-town!

At this point, I was already pretty tired, but there was no way I wasn't going to continue the festivities with my homechick, so in I went.  My body, on the other hand was not feeling it...

I ended up sitting there feeling sick and picking at some banchan.  The steamed egg helped, but not enough - and that shit always makes me feel better!  Tried to have some japchae and though it was good, I just wasn't feeling well enough to enjoy anything, so I ended up just watching everyone eat and trying my best to hide my nauseousness.

So, the result - 3 stars.  Not good, not bad.  3 because you sat us all the way in the back near the dirty dishes station that was probably what made me feel nauseous in the first place...

The food is really good, especially their pancake plate.

The price can get a little high if you're not careful, but there's something there for every price range.

I want you to read this review.

I want you to know how good this place is. And that it is this good 24 hours every day of every week. That their Doo Boo Gui cleansed my soul. That it maintains standards on a Wednesday night at 5:43am. That the appetizers were plentiful and free.

I want you to know these things, but I don't ever want to see you here. I want Kun Jip for my own. I claim it.

But considering this place now has 131 reviews, I'm sure we'll meet and share a few laughs over a bowl of kimchee. Good day, japchae.

i have been in a long-term love/hate relationship with kun-jip.  A helplessly loyal patron since its inception, I find myself back here time and time again.

i'll start with the hate: i am FULLY aware (even if no one else is) of how unsanitary this place is - bathrooms, tables, silverware, water glasses (and i can only imagine what a peek into the kitchen might uncover).  the service is not just bad, it is insulting.  they shuttle you like a herd of cattle through the restaurant to continue your wait in awkward spots (like right in front of the bathroom).  they bring you your check before you are done.  they ask you to order before you are even seated.   you have to understand, though, that they're not angry nor are they trying to be rude. they are just BUSY.  long waits in a line-up that wraps around the storefront are a given, even in the blistering cold.  very loud and very cramped.  i have on several ocassions been forced to share a table (no divider or anything) with another party.

the love:  their food.  no one in their right mind would come back here for ANYTHING other than the food.  this is the SOLE reason this place has been kicking ass on "korea way" (i only recently discovered the actual street sign)

i help justify my continued patronage by arguing that you kinda have to expect at least a few of the cons mentioned above when dining at a korean restaurant as "authentic" as this one. *shrug*

Went here after watching Wicked the Musical and had a blast semi dressed up, drinking Bek Soju after Bek Soju and downing yummy Korean BBQ and slurping on spicy soonudbu. The service was great and super quick but never made you feel hurried. The waitresses were all very smiley and helpful and were able to tend to your requests quickly. May not be the best Korean food I've ever eaten but everything ordered here was pretty solid. Loved the atmosphere here and will definitely come back on my next NY visit.

There was quite a wait so I thought the food was going to be really good. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things? They had meh-woon-galbi-jjeem, which I had once in cali and loved, so I got all excited and ordered it. Did NOT taste good.

As for their ban-chan (the little side dishes), I wasn't impressed. Their gamja tang was pretty good though.

I don't think it was worth the wait...

Used to go here all the time after our FNBS.  A pretty decent korean restaurant that's open late and satisfies late night hongers.

Other than that...nothing much to write home about.  hahahahaha

What is there to say about Kun Jip that the other 157 reviews already said?
... not all that darn much.

But I'm doing it anyway. Because I need my Yelp Elite.

Love the food. Hate the wait, the crowded space and the rush.

Despite the lovely crispy haemul pajun (seafood pancake), tasty bubbling soondubus, crispy fish, and all that jazz, I find it hard to convince myself to come here. And not just because of the wait.

It's the hovering that gets you.
The old auntie standing over your table giving you the evil eye as you take yet another bite. Oh the horror!

I get an evil satisfaction by shovelling more food in my mouth and then staring the auntie in the face.

Oh, and of course, the silent 'screw you' to all the people lined up against the wall behind you and at the door waiting for a table. Because you know. I was there. Suffering for delicious Korean food.

Then of course, I order more refills of the panchan.

Yes, I am that person.
... you only wish I didn't like their food so much.

This is one of my favorite places.

I love the spicy beef soup and the pork and kimchi.

My main complaint, and the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that it OVERCROWDED. It makes the place really uncomfortable if you eat there in the summer.

Kunjip is AWESOME.  One of my fav places in KTown.  This is also the only place I've been to so far that serves the salty steamed water egg as an appetizer/side dish.  Love it.

If you come here for dinner, be prepared for a wait regardless of the size of your group - it is THAT popular of a place.  Also, be prepared to be kind of rushed to leave if there is a huge wait.  They like quick turnover of tables.  Service is FAST.  You order while you're waiting in line so that by the time you sit down, your food is already there.

I like everything I've tried on their menu - the rices, soups, pajuns.  Everything is yummy.  Kunjip just feels very homey.

GREAT STAFF. When we arrived, we were soaking wet because of the rain. The staff kindly ushered us inside and gave us paper towels to dry ourselves off. Even though the place was PACKED (around 9PM), we were seated very quickly.

YUMMY FOOD. The service was fast and the food also came out in a timely manner. I had the oxtail soup with ox blood. I didn't eat most of the ox blood, but it added flavor to the delicious broth. The oxtail was huge, tasty and tender. I really liked the bowl of rice that came with it. I think it had a little bit of red bean mixed in. To top it off, the portions were quite generous.

GREAT PRICE. We were all more than satisfied, and the bill only came up to $14 per person (including tax + tip). Aww yea, that's what I like to see at the end of a good meal.

MINI-COMPLAINTS. I took one star off because they neglected to refill our waters (I was super thirsty), and I was also disappointed that they didn't serve Saengseon jeon (fried fish) in the banchan. Saengseon jeon is my favorite and most Korean restaurants I've been to have included it in the banchan. However, we did get a hot bowl of steamed egg that I couldn't get enough of!

EXTRA PLUS. At the end, they served us this really sweet tea. I don't know what it is, but I would come back just to get that drink at the end of my meal again :D Also, Pinkberry is RIGHT next door! I will definitely come back when I'm in the area.

This place is on the must-visit list every time we're in NYC. Great atmosphere and good food at reasonable prices. The line can sometimes be long, and you can get lined up way to the back of the restaurant.

People, delicious (!) Korean food, nice ambience, reasonable prices. Everything a nice restaurant needs! First of all I should say that only reason I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 is the waiting line during evenings..

Since they have great food, you have to suffer the line between 7-9 pm, but still no reason to complain. Recently I'm spending at least 1 day of the week at this place for my dinner. :) Amazingly I don't feel like I'm wasting my time nor money for nothing !

The food is just amazing ! I'm a big fan of their Samgyupsal (pork belly - literally means 3 layers of meat ^^) and their Pajun (kind of Korean pancake, not sweet though. Either with Kimchi or seafood).

On top of that they have good alcohol in terms of foreign alcohol. You don't get to see Korean wine everywhere in my opinion. I can't really remember the name but it should be something like BokBunJa, or simply Black Raspberry wine. ``` A must, you should try it..

Overall, this place have good service, good food and friendly employees. Hong is my favorite :) Everytime I go there I get a free pajun !! Yay ~

IF you have time you should go and check this place out ! I'm pretty sure you'll love it :)
