Came here for a late midnight dinner last night with friends.

I had better. I ordered the Shrimp plate. Came with shrimp, rice, salad and fries. I asked for no cilantro, but ended up getting cilantro all over my dish, ahhh just great!

I think it was $15 for the dish not including tip.

It wasn't crowded so that was nice and this place is decent looks wise.

The owner is nice. He's Lebanese. He asked me if I was a dancer and I told him I bellydance and told me they a bellydancer and I should come back. Whatever that means...

I say if you're in Hollywood, try somewhere else, food isn't the greatest, not worth what you are paying for atleast.

      Sorry, this is a negative.

I've eaten at Kubar a couple of times, weeknight dinners. First, I have to say that the decor is really nice. I love the aesthetic of this place. It makes me expect something a bit fancier in terms of food. This is Lebanese food though you have to do a bit of prying to find that out. The menu, however, is just not very interesting. Lots of rice and ground beef and hummous. Nothing particularly daring or exotic or even very healthy sounding. Starches galore!

In addition, the food is more akin to a cheaper, diner type place. It's good, I have no complaints, but this lovely restaurant should step it up and get a chef who can create something new! Maybe a new take on Lebanese food? Each time I went there with my friend, we were the only ones or there was one other table. A bit strange given the heavy traffic on the boulevard. It just doesn't have the pizazz and coolness that many of the other restaurants do and it looks expensive.

I'd say their biggest problem is the experience doesn't match the image. But both are fine.

It's taken me a week to write my review of this place because this is just how pissed I was. I wanted to cool off a bit, so I did not let my anger get in the way.

As someone who has been in food service pretty much all my life, from being a server to owning on my own BBQ joint, upscale catering business and then a private chef, this place is as worse as it gets.

I will the only reason this place gets a star is because it is the lowest rating you can give....well ok, I would have given the one star for looks.

Service- was less then lousy, they offered us this free drink at the door but only if you ordered dinner, which is fine, but after all three of us order we were still reminded that the drink was only free if we ordered a meal. Ok we get that and we did that, so there is no need to mention it again.

Since our waitress-for lack of a better word, was far too busy getting hit on by the owner, she was unable to take our drink orders and once she finally came over to the table she was in a hurry. Not once did she look away from her servers pad and was clearly unable to answer questions, we saw the bus boy far more then we saw her.

It was nearly 30 minutes before our appetizers came and when they did it was very sloppy. The grape leafs were saggy like a diaper filled with you know what that has been on a babies butt far too long.

My best friend asked for a refill on his wine and this is when she asks him "which wine did you have" We look at her and said "it was the free one, that came with the meal" She then says "I know, but which read wine." we then reply ask the girl who took the order for you. She walks away only to come back three minutes later with a wine list. Now thye are pouring FREE RED WINE if you order a meal. I am very sure they have some cheap wine they are using for this and our SERVER-again for lack of a better word, should know this.

The food comes about 10 minutes later one plate at a time and one of the plates is COLD. Not the kind of cold from being cooked before the other plates, but the kind of COLD you get from refrigeration. We tell her this she reaches for the plate and says "would you like something else?" Hmmm, cold plate dont offer to fix it, offer something else. Classic I dont know what the hell it is I am doing move.

We then tell her that the music is way too loud and ask if it could be turned down. She says "no" we then ask for a manager and she walks away leaving the cold plate on the table as if everything was ok.

The manager walks over and says "let me walk to the other side so I can hear you" He walks around and as he does so he is stopped to by women who are with the owner, he proceeds to hold a conversation with them instead of coming to handle the situation at our table.

When he finally comes over we mention the level of the music. He says the music level is fine ans then waves his hand as if to say move on I am not turning it down. This is when he is reminded that he had to come around to the other side of the railing to hear us. He then lied and said well it is on an IPOD and the music level goes up and down at will and he cant control that and again waves his hand.

We tell him about her bad service and he replies she is new, we tell him how long the food took and the plate is cold and he blames the cook. Another classic move, when something goes wrong blame the cook. He went on to tell us how busy they are and someone called out sick and the cook is slammed and has no help. Not once did he offer an apology. he simply made excuse after excuse and basically told us to sit down shut up and eat the slop with the loud stripper music and enjoy it. When I asked him about the wine, he says yes they have a certain bottle brand they pour for the FREE offer. When I ask why no one is in the kitchen helping the cook, someone like him or the owner who is now rubbing the ass of our waitress he again makes excuses.

Finally he offers to fix the cold plate, but still so apology, this was all out fault for eating at the hole. We get a new plate and his offer to take 50% off the price and no sooner then the plate is dropped she comes and tries to remove it. "What are you doing?" we ask her and she then has this stupid look on her face.

We then ask for the check and boxes so we can leave. She returns minutes later drops the check and the boxes and walks away.

This place sucked from beginning to end. My other best friend even offered me as cook and he replies "we only hire people from the middle east. We have someone coming in from there next week" So we only hire people who have no right to even be in this country.

This place is a AVOID spot. I am learning that many of the places in Hollywood have this, there are plenty of tourist mind set which allows them to give lousy service and crappy food. They are also the places who hire illegal workers.

In the end the check was free, I guess this was our apology. As we left the manager says. "we hope to see you again"

In the words of Elton John--"The Boulevard is not that bad"...

For realz, Hollywood Boulevard is becoming less a tourist trap as each day passes. For every cheesy t-shirt, bong or cardboard pizza house there are an increasing number is chill spots.

Loaded just opened. Essex house has great beers and great food. Now this place!

I have walked byt his place countless times and always dismissed it because of the location. I figured if I hadn't heard about it, it must not be that great. Come to find out they are a Lebanese restaurant. I think people would by more likely to go if they had the nationality in the name but that's just me--Mediterranean is so broad.

In fact, if you search for Mediterranean food in 90068 it doesn't even come up--weird.

Well it was good. It was real good. And the prices are even better. The service was great, although we were one of the few people there on an early Saturday evening.

      Now to the essentials:

2 large 16oz imports for $5 is not a bad way to kick it off here. The hummus was great (Tahini heavy) and they constantly swapped out room temp pita for fresh warm strips throughout the dinner.

The Soujouk was amazing, although I don't know how traditional sausage resembling pepperoni topped with cheese is. Even if it's fusion it was delicious. The spinach pastry and meat pastries were also good.

Total for 2 was well under $50. I'd be back sooner than later.

      ----

I recently came back to use a restaurant.com coupon. The Arrayes was dope--it's like a quesadilla but with all meat inside instead of cheese... I guess it's a meatadilla.

The shrimp dish was good, but honestly all of their dishes with cheese are almost the same. It was a bowl of baked mozzarella with shrimps and jalapenos inside. Tasty, but I can't imagine that's really Lebanese. Whatever, it was great,

The hummus starter is always a good idea... Heart this place. Cheap too. Our waitress was crazy, frantic and possibly on speed but she got the job done.

My friends and I were going to watch a show at the Pantages and wanted to grab a quick bite before the show. Decided to come here since the menu looked decent.

When we walk in, the entire place is empty, the lights weren't even turned on yet even though it was 6PM already. The waitress was very friendly and brought us our drinks and some pita bread for us.

I ended up ordering the CHICKEN KEBAB SANDWICH. It came with a side of coleslaw and french fries. It was ok, nothing spectacular. The sandwich was basically a wrap that had pieces of chicken kebab, french fries, lettuce and cornichon pickles inside. It was ok, but I definitely had better. For $9, it wasn't really worth it.

My friend had the CHICKEN WRAP, which looked exactly the same, but a little bit more filling inside, and was only $6, since it didn't come with the cole slaw and french fries. For a difference of $3, I would have just gone for the wrap, since the cole slaw and french fries wasn't anything spectacular.

There are definitely better places for Mediterranean food. But I guess for something on Hollywood Blvd, I can't expect any deals or spectacular food.

Parking: either lot or street parking. Meters are only for 1 hour only.

Never heard of this place before going there for a friend's casual bday dinner. It was the most americanized mediterranean food I've ever had! I ordered a chicken kabob sandwich, and it was very meh....the chicken itself was decent, but they wrapped it with heavy mayo-mixed slaw, and french fries! Very strange indeed. And it came with side of more slaw, more fries, and it cost $10. Way overpriced for what I got. Def have had better at a mall food court!

Seems like an ok place for drinks/appetizers and if you wanna smoke a hookah on the patio, but I wouldn't go there again.

Probably my favorite restaurant. I take friends and family here all the time! The chicken schwarma wrap is excellent! The chicken breast platter is so yummy. The platter comes with rice, fries, salad, chicken, pita, and garlic sauce :P Yum! Try a fry with the garlic sauce and ketchup. You'll be addicted!
I highly recommend you give it a try!!

I adore Kubar! Very sexy, the candlelit patio allows intimate convo while people-watching in the heart of Hollywood Blvd. The belly dancing offers a nice touch to the evening. Many people walking along the Blvd will stop and watch from the patio. Make sure to bring a few $1 bills!

Saturday night Bellydancing (bring $1 to tip)

      First to Review

I have seen this place many times driving on Hollywood. I love Mediterranean food so I decided to try it the other day with a friend of mine.

We sat down on the patio, it took the server (who only had 2 tables) 10-15 minutes to greet us and take a drink order. By that time we already knew what we wanted and we ordered.

The Menu wasn't very impressive and the pictures they had on the Menu were terrible looking. Should just stick with the descriptions and no pictures because it didn't want me to order the items. The Hummus was terrible, tasted like it was store bought and the Pita was kinda stale. I had a Falafel sandwich and my buddy ordered a Kabob sandwich. Both were boring and didn't have much flavor.

Steer clear of this place, its an over-priced tourist trap. The service is bad.

Sorry guys...... I really wanted to like you.....

My family and I went around the hollywood last night just for a walk and our eyes catched this very cozy place. The ambiance looks very cool.

We ordered chicken kebob with side of coleslow and fries. It was really good and authentic meditrranean food. The waiters were good and welcoming the customers. They have a good service. And one very good thing the price was so reasonable. Overall we are very satisfied with our experience with kubar. For sure we will come back there not only my family but ofcourse with some of my friends so they will also experience what I had. Oh before I forget the grape leaves were so awesome, the taste was so incredible, yummmyyyyyy....
