I think I'd rather give it a 3.5, but let me explain.
The times I'm actually here are between 2-5 am, so this is kind of a niche review.
Actually, at this time of night the Kroger on Ponce is ok too.. there is no one at either. its usually a shock when I actually go during normal hours (before 2am), and there are lines. I feel slightly appalled.
Sooo You should try to go at a time like midnight-5am.
In comparison to Ponce's Kroger (I want to call it murder kroger.. but that makes it sound worse than it is. Come on guys, it even has a redbox :)), its much cleaner, nicer, and newer, more spacious, better laid out, the floors are brown and not white. There is not a cop car sitting outside all the time.
The frozen food section is all on one side and has motion sensor lights so the freezer aisles only light up when you walk by.
I usually find this very amusing.. lack of sleep will usually make most things amusing, so its really fun to kind of moonwalk through the frozen food section and watch the lights go on and off.
hm lets see. I think the natural foods section selection is pretty decent.
Also one of the perks of shopping at this time is having the whole store to yourself and the people who stock. So you can talk to yourself out loud without being looked at too weird, or do a little dance when you find something you were really looking for. oh yea, my favorite thing in the world: being weird.
PLUS IT'S 24 HOURS. this fact by itself is like 2 stars.
It has most of the stuff I need at any place, cereal, fruit loops, milk, eggs, frozen pizza, bertolli's, salsa, the occasional fruit and vegetable, deodorant, soap, tp. ice cream. The basics.
Beer + Wine. Everyone said it. bam.
I think I give it another star for being in a plaza with other things, and another for being safer. or.. at least perceivably.
Kroger plus cards- FYI you can just put your number in and you don't need the card on your key ring.
Um yes I do see the occasional crackhead, some bums, and backpack kids that are probably doing something illegal or being teenagers, but they're not bothersome at all. I just giggle when I walk by them, mostly internally, because they're funny-looking, unless they look really sad, in which case I make a stoic face.

I'm willing to eat things bought from this Kroger.  This is unlike the one by my home, Ghetto Kroger.  Decent produce, although none of the local focus I remember from Appalachian Krogers up in Virginia and that state below it on the west side.  Ok bakery.  That isn't saying much in Atlanta from what I've seen.  And gluten-free resources, including Udi's.

Parking seems to suck even with the massive complex's lot, as does surviving the drive into and out of that complex.  I'd give away my tricks, but I want to keep them for myself.

Why do people that don't know what they're doing
go through the self checkout lines?
Why is the damn parking lot
the biggest clusterf--k of all time?
Why do I always have to
carry around a damn bonus card?
Why do I always get cut in line
    by some rude smacktard?
    God I hate this place:
the people, the aisles, the smell.
They have decent beer and wine
but the people drive me crazy as hell!

Whatever you do, if you are looking for some fresh vegetables to throw in a dish, do not hit up the Edgewood Kroger late at night. The veggies leftover from the post-work rush leave a lot to be desired. Wilted, banged up, and lacking.

However the cheese stand does have some tasty vittles and the store is fairly large.

You get good variety of people shopping in here, but it doesn't quite have the same ambiance as my one true love - Crackhead Kroger (also known as Murder Kroger).

This place scares me!! Maybe I came on a wrong day the people here are a little questionable(working there that is).  The products seems beat up and the produce I would not touch. The places smells funny, egh!   It was craziness!!  Fortunately, all I needed was plastic bags so I was in and out.   I'll stick with my frou-frou grocery stores.

Pros: Huge wine and beer selection.  (Although, they will move my favorite beer around making it hard to find.)  they have a huge selection of food, an olive bar, hot bar, and a sushi bar.  It's also near Little 5 Points, Inman Park, Candler Park, Edgewood, and Reynoldstown to make the people watching interesting.  It also has good security making it feel safe.  I also like the great coupons For freebies that Kroger sends to it's plus customers.

Cons:  parking, staff, layout, and prices compared to DeKalb Farmer's Market and Publix.  The parking lot is always an adventure and i end parking near Target or Borders about 10 percent of the time.  I love the wine selection but they have wine displays blocking almost every aisle. The staff is friendly but they spend too much time chatting with each other and not enough working on their speed at the cash registers.

Bottom line:  it's convenient and reliable, but I'd rather go to Trader Joe's or DeKalb Farmer's Market.

I hate grocery stores. I hate traffic. So crappy traffic at the grocery store is an unholy combination in my book. I love the fact that this Kroger is so close to my apartment, but it's a pain to get into and out of. I typically only go here if I'm in a hurry. I've been here several times where the manager had to direct traffic out of the parking lot.

I suppose I'm a Publix and Trader Joe's girl at heart.

How do you know you're officially in the dirty Souf...

                                                                 1
                             CANNED FRUITS         CANNED FISH
                             DRIED FRUIT                PORK & BEANS
                                                                       INSTANT POTATOES
                                                                       CANNED VEGETABLES

Yep, that was the sign over aisle one at this here Kroger, which I should add is quite possibly the biggest market I have ever seen. This place was like a Costco! Karayzee! Anyhoo, they seem to have everything here including aisle end caps with canned corn and canned peas and they sell pig's feet. Oh yes, sweet pig's feet. What?

The wine section is fantabulous here and they even sell wine bottle openers so you can take your wine bottle back to your hotel room and have at it. Oh, is that just me?

    Kroger. Yeah.

When they first announced your existence, we in the know immediately declared you "Crackhead Kroger." A Kroger in Edgewood? Definitely Crackhead Kroger. How could it be anything but? And oh, did the hipsters wail and gnash their teeth at the audacity, the AUDACITY, of putting big boxes adjacent to the ground zero of grunge. But when you were completed and with a deft hand borne of hundreds of similar Sembler-style Stepford developments, the Powers That Be had succeeded in bringing a slice of the 'burbs to downtown. And the hipster kids loved it.

No longer forced to trek to the Kroghetto down Moreland, (poor, poor, lamented Kroghetto, I still haven't forgotten you) or parting ways with their paycheck to even sniff The Whole Foods wares, the former opposition embraced you, Edgewood Kroger, as one of their own. So what if my cell phone never seems to work in your aisles and so what if your parking lot is criminally small, the kids with the shaggy 'dos and the skinny jeans dig you. So, with the power vested in me by the State of Georgia and the good folks at http://yelp.com, I dub thee "Emo Kroger." What therefore hath yelp put forth, let no man tear asunder.

    I mean . . . I semi-recently discovered that I am more of a Publix girl than a Kroger girl.

    Howeva . . .

I love this Kroger. Let me count the ways:

    a) saved me from a near disastrous pre-Thanksgiving baking experience by rescuing me - they carried a Key Ingredient (ancho chile pepper, if you were wondering) that my dear Publix did not carry.

    b) It's huge, it's bright, and it's clean! And - in a great location - hit up the bookstore and Target (um. . .and Sole: http://www.yelp.com/bi...) while you're there!

    c) there's a hot food bar. It looks tastewise, maybe a 3/5, but great to pick up something if you need it quick

    d) and there's a Starbucks inside

    e) nice meat/deli counter. . . with samples!

And, to top it off, this has got to be a hot spot to pick up girls/guys for the cool kids.  Being in between EAV and L5P, there's always a slew of hip peeps searching for their spaghetti sauces and vegetable oil and organic hot sauce.  If in the market, I would take an extra stroll or two around the aisles here. . .

I lived in the West End and would love to go to the Edgewood Kroger's  because it offers so much more than many other Kroger's. My goal was to move in the area because of the plaza and Kroger's! Since I've been here the illusion of being such a great store is a thing of the past as far as I'm concern!
This particular day I was standing at the customer with food from the deli that looked until I got home and tasted the cooked to death Pork Chop and I wanted my money back with no hard feelings. I know some people would have loved a well well done Pork Chop, I'm not that guy!
People were behind the customer counter, Moving & Doing a lot of nothing to help the people in the customer service line! One lady was trying her best to accommodate the counter as more people lined up, she was failing to serve the people. I was looking at a manger showing people which line was faster instead of getting behind the counter to help the lady who was in the weeds! (very busy)
I said as loud as I could hoping the traffic manger to hear and come help! Instead this Ebonics Speaking Cashier Said loud enough for me to hear," Don't he know we be busy on the 1st of da mouth! I can say that I to spoke Ebonics until I read a book...as a child! Anyway! I said do you think I care about the date! And I Asked Why are you talking to me way over there? A older employee made her shut the heck up by saying Erin hush! Erin should have been fired for jumping tuff with a customer!
Being the only grocery store in the neighborhood gives them no right to treat a customer with anything but courtesy!
P.S. I told the lady at the deli you have flys on the french toast and she told the chef and he said," What Chew Want Me To Do Bout It" No more deli food for me! I hope I wasn't to nasty!  That's just how I feel!

This place is a shithole.  Tonight/this morning I walked in to find one register open with a line stretching back almost to the frozen food section.  It's not the first time I've walked out in disgust because of crap like this.

I'm a frequent after midnight shopper and I've noticed that this store seems to go out of its way to make the experience as unpleasant as possible for people who shop at odd hours.  I realize that magic faeries don't come out to restock shelves and that the process can somewhat inconvienience customers.  However, this stocking crew is a real piece of work.  You can hardly get to anything because they seem to block all the aisles at once.  And I don't think I've actually witnessed them stock anything come to think of it.

The staff just doesn't seem to give a shit here.  Either that or they're completely incompetent.

It's amazing how one Kroger can differ from another.

ok, it really hurts me to write this review. I have been very faithful to this particular Kroger for over 4 years now.

I've mastered parking here, this is the worst Kroger for parking.

I've mastered getting in the fastest lanes for a quick and easy exit.

I've mastered the customer service line.

I've mastered the layout, even after the recent renovations.

yes. they have a great beer selection. a good wine selection.

yes. they have a sufficient organic food selection.

I know this is a very busy and over populated Kroger. no one wants to go to murder Kroger (ponce) so they come over here. however, i am so tired that after everyone gets their food stamps, there is not enough stock of the food I want. Don't let Kroger have a special on chicken breasts, they will all be taken that very same day. who ever orders the freaking food for this store needs to be fired. they know this Kroger is one that is well frequented- very busy. so please choose your orders sufficiently. every time I come here for meat, they don't have anymore because there is a current special, I have to drive my ass down further on moreland to the other Kroger and sure enough-they never disappoint me. so, edgewood Kroger, you sir, have just lost my business!

This Kroger and I have a complicated relationship.  I prefer Kroger to Publix because of the prices, the selection and the unionization.  But this Kroger!  It will try me!!!!  Oooooh it will TRY ME!

I live like a quarter mile from here so the only draw is the convenience.  That's up for negotiation, though.  Why?  Because this particular Kroger requires at least 30 minutes for one of those, "I'm just going to run in and grab (one item) and be done."  If you need to get something quick spend more time driving to another Kroger and you'll still get done more quickly.

Maybe you don't want to stock the shelves at a high traffic time of day, maybe you don't want to have the employees stand around chatting up while the customers using self check out are waiting for the clerk who has been notified, maybe you don't want to have pallets of items parked in front of a majority of items causing customers not to be able to reach them...I could SO go on and on about this Kroger!!!

For all of the inconvenient times at which stocking occurs (as well as the inconvenient locations of to be stocked items) this Kroger is always out of stuff.  Need frozen veggies?  Need some Morningstar items?  Need pink grapefruit juice?  Good luck with that!  Need to get some condoms from the locked case?  Good luck getting that taken care of in less than an hour, too!

Oh, and the security guards who can't be bothered for most things- well they can be bothered to beat the shit out of a kid who steals a $3 bottle (plastic) of wine.  I've made several complaints about this Kroger over the few years in which it has been operating.  The first time I got a $5 gift card.  That is it...

I suggest you head over to Decatur to hit up the DeKalb Industrial at North Decatur Kroger and Your DeKalb Farmers Market.  Or endure the Hell that is this shit hole of a Kroger.

Everyone knows how all the Krogers in town have nicknames, right? You've got the Disco Kroger, Murder Kroger, etc. Well, this one is Hipster Kroger.

Disclaimer: I may not be the first to christen this Kroger with a nickname, but in my (humble) opinion, mine is the most accurate, due to the types of people who shop here, usually late at night. You all know at least one of these kids: He only listens to bands YOU'VE never heard of, dresses like he fell out of an Urban Outfitters or American Apparel catalog, sports a hairstyle that looks like he cut it in the dark using safety scissors, and somehow always has money to maintain a coke habit (and we're not talking fizzy brown sugar water here), despite not working a day in his life. For some reason these kids flock to this particular Kroger, probably because it sells 24-packs of Pabst Blue Ribbon for $12. Sadly, this is the location I frequent most often, because my only other choice is Murder Kroger. But the beer selection is enough to keep me coming back.

When I chose to move to in-town Atlanta, I was afraid I would be confined to convenience store and grungy/tiny markets for my everyday shopping.  Not so- this Kroger was one of my first finds when I arrived, in all it's giant, clean and well-stocked glory.  It had the usual plentiful aisles of everything you would need in a grocery store, plus a huge bakery, deli, and prepared food section.  It also has a floral section, ethnic food aisles, and 2 aisles of beer and wine.  Love their premium chocolate chip cookies from their bakery!

This Kroger is in a plaza with Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, and bunch of other stores- very convenient for one-stop shopping.  From reading the other Yelpers' reviews, apparently, it is in the heart of grunge/alternative Atlanta (Edgewood, I think).  And I think people here are too used to the giant parking lots...though you should always use caution in a busy parking lot, this is pretty much standard for all the supermarkets I used to go to up north...the fact that underground parking is even available is worth checking this place out.

This has been my go-to Kroger for over three years now.

A year ago, when I had flexible hours at work and could shop midweek, midday, I was a fan. Now, that I'm 9-5 and switched to doing the majority of my shopping at Trader Joe's & farmers markets, only making my way to this Kroger every now & then (prescriptions & my Oreo fix), I really cannot stand this place. The atmosphere & service on nights & weekends is enough to send a normally sane person into an anxiety induced tissy.

Parking is ridiculous. The whole shopping center is constantly busy, but I think they gave Kroger the absolute worst parking in the entire center & it's always the busiest. Not to mention there are always promoters or sales folks putting flyers all over my car, no matter how long or short I am parked.

The staff here, with very few exceptions are rude, slow, and at times it seems unaware that they are even at work, expected to a JOB. This attitude exudes from the folks stocking shelves, to the cashiers, to the pharmacists. Attentiveness & a smile go a long way - both ideas that the management has yet to properly convey to their staff. Not to mention, over the last three years I have probably had about $30 worth of groceries LEFT OUT of my bag at the checkout counter & not realized until home unpacking & reexamining the receipt.

The positives: This place is huge & has just about everything you could possibly need. This Kroger is located in Carolyn Street shopping center (Lowe's, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Barnes & Noble, etc.), so I can get all my errands knockout in one swift swoop. It's 24 hours. The pharmacy has a drive-thru & is open late.

If you can swing your grocery shopping Monday-Friday 9-5, good for you. If you're like the rest of us... enter with low expectations & some patience. It's going to be a bumpy road.

How can you not love this Kroger? Okay I admit that I moved here from New York, so getting back to my true southern roots by enjoying a Great grocery store has probably been more fun than it should. But, 24 hours? You just can't beat that. I do most of my shopping later at night when there are no lines!  I love the SELF CHECK LINES here becaues they have the lazy susan style bag holders....LOVE THEM.  Yeah

UPDATE: I forgot to mention one of my favorite things about this Kroger. For those who love seafood, please know that this Kroger will season and then steam your crab legs, lobsters, whatever....for no additional charge. So a meal that would have cost you $30 at least at a restaurant, can be be had for a mere $10, while you shop. LOVE THAT.

As Ivan S. alluded, the parking lot situation at this location has made me lose my religion more than once. Still, I think this is one of the best K. Roger's I've been 2 in the city. The staff is surprisingly friendly (even if they're not always the most helpful). The wine selection is vast (on one occasion, I had someone assist me in making a selection...though I'm still not sure if that dude actually worked there). And the older gent at the seafood counter always, always makes me smile. Plus, the piped in music usually has me singing to myself and jammin' down the aisles (seriously, it's that bumpin').

The quality and availability of the fresh meats and produce are on par with pretty much every other Kroger; which is to say they're average at best. But for my everyday shopping needs, it more than fits the bill.

    cheers,

I'd had it now and had to vent.  I remember now after only one visit, why I started to boycott this Kroger after it first opened.

I was so excited when this opened in Edgewood awhile back.  It was the closest grocery store to Grant Park and filled a much needed void.  After probably our 3rd or 4th visit, it slowly started to go downhill and then extremely.  I came in at times where the produce section was near empty, people were rude, and the store was just picked over and dirty.  That started my migration up to Ponce to Publix.

After about a year off from Kroger, we went last night to find a totally overcrowded store & parking lot, barely any meat or produce (not a single piece of chicken), rude workers, and just a messy store.

I will again make the trip up to Publix as Kroger has pulled that very last nerve.

This is the Kroger where I'm usually doing my main grocery shopping at. I love it! It's huge, very clean and in the same shopping center, there's a Target, Ross, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble and other smaller retail stores. It even has a deli! I usually go on weekends and while there's usually a crowd when I go, I'm never standing in line for a ridiculous amount of time and if I am, its because there are still idiots out there that don't know how to use the self check-out machines (c'mon really?). There's plenty of parking and the selection is great, very comparable to a Publix. I actually like coming here rather than the Publix on Ponce because it's more spacious and I don't feel like I'm going to bump my shopping cart into a display as I'm going down the aisles. This Kroger makes me like grocery shopping. :)

This place is great. I had to get the battery jumped before I went grocery shopping. When I was finished it turned out to be more than a bad battery.

I talked to the manager on duty Jermaine and he found an employee (Sheila) who had some jumper cables to give me a boost.

They both stayed with me until I was on my way. I tried to give Shiela $10 for her trouble. She graciously declined.

People like Jermaine and Sheila will keep me coming back!

    I HATE THE PARKING.

However, this Kroger is the best Kroger in my immediate area for gluten free finds.  They have a bajillion Kinnikinnick items in their frozen healthy bread section and that's a must have.  (Not as fabulous as fresh fare though, so if you're closer to Buckhead, go to that one.)

Good fruits and veggies when I went today.  A pretty good alcohol section.  A really good "healthy" section.

I almost walked out today when I saw the lines were all at least 8 people deep, but I persevered.

Oh and a recommendation - go on off times, early in the am on the weekend or after 7/8 on weekdays (or during work hours) cause this place gets crazy.

Up until this weekend I'd rather have punched myself in the gut than shopped at this Kroger again. The problem is the crowds and the parking during Saturday and after work hours and the generally grumbly employees. But my usual store had been out of my veggie meal starter crumbles for two weeks, so Kroger was my only hope.

Luckily I managed to get to Kroger before 10am on a Sunday and had a really good experience. Unfortunately the aisles were crowded with employees stocking the shelves rather than crowded with other people. But all was forgiven when one of them ran up to me and returned my dropped shopping list pen. Then check out was lightning fast, something I never thought I'd see in a Kroger.

The selection at this grocery is very good - lots of produce choices and a big natural foods section. Usually I don't go to Kroger for meat or produce, but I generally can find quality fresh foods here. It's cheaper than my usual grocery stores for staples, so there is a draw.

I dunno, I'll probably still go here if I can get in at off peak hours, but it's not my favorite.

The best thing about this place is that they are open 24hrs. How convenient when you're in a pinch, looking for that pint of ice cream that you misplaced... It happens to us all, I know...

I personally don't shop here unless I need to. I can't get produce here as it all looks so poor in comparison to Whole Foods, but for little things like... well beer and cigarettes? Heh. Just kidding. Though I did peep some Brooklyn beers when I went in on Sunday. Damn the "no sale of alcohol on Sunday" rule... Sh*t sucks...

Brooklyn Pennant Ale and Brown Ale in the beer aisle. Woo hoo!

The self-checkouts are manned better here, and the attendants are actually helpful and friendly. If you can actually get in and out of the store without the parking debacle that usually occurs, then it is a good day at this Kroger. Unfortunately, the parking situation is out of their control, but it affects the overall rating of the store. Otherwise, there are nice people working here, the shelves are well-stocked,and the produce is frequently fresh and colorful.

This is my staple grocery store.  I live in Grant Park so it's like 10 minutes away and the selection is outstanding.

The plusses: I am able to go in the AM when they open, so yes I am spoiled in that regard.  Restocking of dry goods takes place on monday am, and meat and produce are majorly re-stocked on wednesday am.  I have had nothing but pleasant experiences with the staff.  The deli selection is great, and this is the first store I've seen with a computer to enter your entire deli order, then swing back to pick up all of your stuff in 20 minutes or so.  GREAT organic and natural food selection, ethnic foods as well.

minuses: The parking is truly horrendous on weekends and PM rush hour times.  If that was truly the only time I was able get here, I might not even bother.  During these times, the crowds are unreal.  You spend as much time bumping into other carts and excusing your self as actual shopping.  I have heard customer service horror stories, but again, none personally.

Overall, I frequent the place and will continue to.  The convenience of being right next to Target and Barnes&Noble is a hug draw for me too.  I recommend!!

I am so glad I live within walking distance of this Kroger. They have a great natural foods section and a decent (though not spectacular) selection of organic produce. In addition the beer and wine section rivals many decent package stores (blows the nearby Towers out of the water). I use U-Scan almost exclusively and it generally work fantastically. Plus the workers - even when very busy - are always pleasant and helpful. Love this place!

Whoa! just read some of the other reviews and they are harsh O_O But I think maybe I should add this: I'm a pedestrian, so I don't have to deal with the parking on most occasions. Also, I'm self-employed so I'm free to shop at 2pm Monday, or 10am Thursday or whenever I please! Accordingly, I guess I usually avoid rush periods and have a much rosier view of the service etc here.

That said, I think people are at times unnecessarily cruel due to life's frustrations. If you don't like diversity, move to Alpharetta. If you don't like traffic, get a bike (or learn to use your legs (they're quite useful)). Life, folks, doesn't have to be that stressful! A positive attitude attracts positive experiences :-)

Love It! I love the Olive bar/Salad bar and the Asian Bar is great!. The staff is VERY friendly & helpful. The girl at the cheese section is extremely helpful, (if you are having a party and you need a quick & delicious appetizer, ask her, she knows whats shes talking about) I use to go to the Ghetto-Kroger or (Bad Kroger as know arounnd EAV) down Moreland, but after going to the Edgewood Kroger I won't be gracing The Ghetto-Kroger with my presence anymore! This Kroger is as good as any Publix I've been to, Great Staff, Fresh Food, Reasonable Prices & it's open 24 hours!  Can't Beat That!

The dad pushing his young son in the shopping cart near me in the produce section last night said it best: "They're out of broccoli?! (the panic in his voice started to rise) I've never been to the grocery store when they're out of broccoli!"

Umm I was amazed when I stopped by this kroger today. It's HUGE and it's clean! I really prefer Kroger over Publix because of the prices. I wish this one had a gas station because I always get the best gas deals.

As this is the closest grocery to my house, it is my regular staple food venue.  I haven't experienced the dirtiness or rudeness that Kaitlin L. speaks of but I will say that the non-cashier (usually nice) staff are about as helpful as a swimsuit in the desert.  On a recent shopping trip, my wife asked for the location of pesto - no one there had ever heard of such a thing (is pesto that exotic?), nor did they try to find someone who might know.  Also, at least in the evening, the produce section is completely picked over and may even be missing very basic fruits/vegetables. Honestly, the most redeaming quality of this Kroger is actually the wine selection.  The store carries quite an array of good boutique wines as well as the usual suspects - actually a better selection than several wines stores in the area.

Although this Kroger stays pretty packed and the parking lot can get a little crazy the selection and atmosphere is good. Since I am not a fan of the over crowded parking lot where finding a space can take 5 minutes I find that going in the evenings is best. Also, the lines here, when long move quickly.

Ok people you should know, Kroger is a huge huge retailer.  They are not only in the south.  They are giant.  Why would anyone rate this place high when they don't even cut their own meat.  It's all pre-cut, pre-packaged, and trucked in...and it sits and sits.  Yeah, go try to ask the butcher for a 2 inch porterhouse....like you can in Publix and Ingles.  Not gonna happen.  I can't tell you how often I've gone in and looked at the nice green meat.   Now I would have given it 1 star except for the fact that the chicken is typically fine and it's typically the best priced of all the supermarkets here, and I actually had a steak my brother had purchased and it wasn't that bad.  i still shy away from their meat section because it usually isn't that good.  Also, their generic brands of anything are usually pretty bad too.  Publix is more expensive but their red meat is the best.  Ingles would be my next choice.  Kroger and Food Lion fall to the rear.  I'd say Ingles is your best mix for price and quality.

I love this Kroger !  In fairness it's the closest grocery store to my house, other than your ghetto hybrid liquor/grocer. The Edgewood Kroger has sprung out of the ghetto to become a hipster's shopping mecca (with Target, Barnes & Noble and a Starbucks in all 3).  So if you can find a parking spot between 5-7 pm - go on in and find your friends . . . it's like a game . . . I always see a few I know or a few I'd like to know.  I've actually rekindled a few old friendships thanks to you Kroger.  I think my one big complaint is that the milk is in the farthest corner of the whole store - wouldn't it be a novel idea to put a selection of staples right near the front instead of candy and crummy DVD's ? I'd love to run in & get milk, bread, eggs, coffee, coffee creamer - and be out in a flash on occasion.  I know I'm living in a idyllic dream world, so other than that, this Kroger is Large, Clean, and has the selection we've come to expect from a major supermarket.

It probably doesn't do much good to Yelp review a huge chain like Kroger, but I can't help it.  Each time I enter, I have new-found disdain for this particular store.  It was supposed to be a bright spot for folks south of I-20, but I end up going out of my way to find a grocery store that doesn't raise my blood pressure.

I am a mom.  I have very little time for nonsense.  When I go grocery shopping, I mean business.  The somewhat new produce layout is ridiculous.  I can't even find words that express how poor of a design this is.  There are no clear-cut aisles so you have to navigate (with a cart) in and out of boxes and longer display cases, which inevitably leads to forgetting something vital because you inadvertently pass it up.  In addition to the complicated design, they are ALWAYS stocking the main produce wall, which makes it impossible to get down the aisle without retracing your footsteps and/or colliding with other shoppers who are also trying to figure out how on earth to navigate this section.  Please, management.  Just watch the surveillance cameras to see how stupid people look while shopping in this section.  It goes against every piece of consumer research there is.  Consumers want big, wide, CLEAR aisles in which to shop.  It's just not that hard.  Thank goodness I don't have to venture into the breads and bakery section because it's just more of the same.

The other unbearable issue is that the store is ALWAYS stocking what seems to be every single aisle.  Every. single. aisle.  The stocking carts are large and take up most of the space (there's usually more than one), which poses yet another obstacle for multiple shoppers in the same aisle.  I thought there were night crews for things like this?  You can't possible have an emergency need to restock the rice pliaf.  Come, on.

One more thing.  Today, the store had no tomatoes.  I was there at approximately 10:15 am and the tomato shelf was empty. Yes, empty.

That just about sums up why this Kroger makes me furious.

Today I was totally disgusted and offended by the "people" at this Kroger. I had to bite my tongue as I listened to two thugs (pants down to their knees) loudly talk about carrying guns, bustin' caps, how they were felons and the arsenal they have in their homes, cars, and on their person. I tried my best to avoid every aisle they were in, but I could still hear them from across the store cursing, dropping the "n" bomb, and acting like uncivilized animals. I was so annoyed that I just left my full cart in the middle of the aisle and walked out. I am done with this shithole...it's lazy, inefficient, and rude employees, the dirtbags that shop there, and now the gang-bangers that I have to dodge as I buy milk. I'm moving onto a fulltime Publix shopper; however, if I am ever in or near this Kroger again I will be carrying my own gun. If a gold-toothed felon can walk around the grocery "strapped" (as they put it)...then I can too.

    Enjoy your shopping experience.
