The light at the end of the tunnel.. is usually red, yellow or green. This tunnel has an opening at each end - pretty standard stuff. There's usually a photo shoot for some booty-licious (shout out to TLAP day) picture posting publication going on here so don't get caught off guard at the fab-a-lus rump stickin' way out and wreck your hoopdie into a pillar.
I mostly ride my bike through here and count it as part of the beltline trail until they figure out how to get Hulsey Yard to scoot itself down Dekalb Ave. a few miles.
I'm graffiti agnostic but occasionally I get a chuckle out of something I see on a pillar or on the southbound entrance coming from Inman Park. An artful and informative cavity you will enjoy coming out the end of. -

When my brother and I was walking to cabbage town, we passed through street tunnel! I was amazed at the graffiti and art! I could not stop taking pictures! What a great place for a photoshoot!

Being an Atlanta newbie, I'm always looking for places that are unique to the area, and Krog Street Tunnel is one of them.
No matter how many times my Atlanta friend and I drive through it, I always enjoy listening to him relate some of the pieces to Atlanta's historical graffiti culture while I stare at the artwork on story-telling walls... -
Review from Alex M.
Really cool place to visit in Atlanta, especially considering the perceived lack of urban culture.
While the graffiti is not the best quality, it is very entertaining to read the running commentary of individuals and it is one of the mainstays of public graffiti in Atlanta. Also, it's a really cool backdrop for photoshoots if you're into photography/portraits
If you are in the area, make the trip through, preferable by foot-the experience is much different if you slow yourself down and soak it all in -

I always enjoy what Krog Street Tunnel has to say.
I especially enjoyed the FU BP display. -

Krog Street Tunnel is a true gem in our neighborhood. In fact, I remember driving past this long before I moved to the city years ago.
KST is an over-sized version of both the high school bulletin board where you can read people's responses to things, see some WTF phrases and even find out what shows are going on at Lenny's or Star Bar. On top of that, I've seen many photo and music video shoots here.
If you're in the neighborhood, check it out. -

A great urban landmark, right out my front door. Love it and the sound of the Marta passing by in the mornings. Always updating with local music and events. I cannot believe no one posted this picture... remember the canoe? Don't try to drive through if it appears flooded! http://www.flickr.com/...

Instead of having to look up upcoming concerts and events in the area, Krog Street, and it's evolving graffiti billboard, can tell me the majority of what I need to know. Being along the route to work for me, I always get stuck at the light on Dekalb Ave. I wonder if it is a secret goal of the city planners to stop traffic at entrances to the tunnel. It just looks so enticing to flip on my blinker and take a quick jaunt down and back to see the changes since my last visit. Great Atlanta tradition.

The Krog Street Tunnel is a wonderment in Atlanta. Yeah, yeah, hyperbole thy name is Ivan, but I really dig this ol' thing. Driving through it always makes me feel like I'm in a real (sorry, fellow Atlantans) city. It's dark, dank and dirty. And it's filled top to bottom with graffiti, most of it bad, but some of it remarkably good.
Look, I know I'm getting old when I see a tagged building and I think "Ah, man, someone's got to pay to clean that up." I no longer denounce The Man because I've come to realize that I've BECOME The Man. Still, there's a small part of me that enjoys seeing a well-placed graffito, whether it's a well-drawn mural of Bob Marley or a peon to who sucks and why sucking continues to be that person's forte. The Krog Street Tunnel provides the concrete canvas for all these would-be artists and poets. (And entrepreneurs if you go by the number of bills also posted in there.) Every city needs a space like this, if only to keep the kids off my lawn. So for that, five stars to the Krog Street Tunnel!Listed in: A N00b's Guide to Atlanta

How cool to have an opportunity to sing the wonders of this Cabbagetown landmark! I often take the long drive to my friend's house, just so I can pass beneath this nefarious cave, learning about upcoming underground events, who turned 30 this week and who loves whom.
Graffiti covers the concrete, with stencil-like images of Bob Marley on every post, and--I heard--repeated references to Hunter S. Thompson. (No matter how slowly I drive, I just can't find them.)
On a lazy Sunday afternoon, while zooming through this dank, Batman-like space, I witnessed a photo shoot taking place in the corner closest to Irwin Street--a lovely black woman with long, sleek mane, throwing her hip out, wearing a basic white button-up and black pencil skirt. Yowzee, she was working it.
The Krog Street tunnel is as urban as it gets--and I just might use it to make a future important announcement to the city...forget Craigslist! -

I've always loved the tunnel. I'm a third generation Atlantan - my grandmother grew up on Seminole in L5P in the 40's and my uncle went to Bass High School now Bass Lofts in the 70's - and there are a few places in Atlanta I feel are urbanist goldmines, this being one of them. Yeah you can look at it as just another graffiti-ridden rat-hole, but if you do, you're missing the point. There are a few places in ATL where local artists showcase their skills blatantly and this USED to be one of them. That being said, there is some real garbage art there now, but I can't discount the tunnel because of that because this place was one of the original spots where you could showcase your talents.
Will it ever be that place I remember again? Probably not, but look around you...in Cabbage Town, on the train, in downtown and just think about this: If it weren't for the original artists and their places like the tunnel, we wouldn't have the other goldmines we have today. -

You know......you really can not appreciate the brevity and awesomeness that the Krog Street tunnel has, until you have experienced it up close and in person.
NO! I'm not talking about you smucks that "drive through" the tunnel and then write a review on it. I'm talking, park your car. Walk your self down to the tunnel; and then through the tunnel. ON BOTH SIDES!
Then, and ONLY then! will you get to appreciate the blood, sweat, tears and urine smells that pour in to the truly incredible masterful work that goes in to creating this cultural phenomenon.
One shout out I MUST give; While snapping pictures this past Saturday we happened upon a young artist working on piece on the Inman Park side of the tunnel. He was kind enough to allow me to take a few pictures and watch as he worked. Names have been changed to protect the innocent. Killer job Mitch! -

Love it. Took a nice, long walk through this tunnel for the first time after the floods of '09. And it really is a truly-interesting collective of art work. That's right...graffiti is art and this concrete canvas is weird and beautiful.

This is my favorite place in all of Atlanta...i felt like it was my own cherished treasure, and was surprised to find it on yelp!
i love the feeling that i'm escaping to the true core of the city when i'm there, and it's easy to ignore all of the regentrification that is going on in nearly all other formerly authentic ATL areas....i'm glad that this, unlike numerous other unsanctified art projects in the city, remains in tact. i think that it's sooooo beautiful -

I don't understand the people who move to this area and then whine about the art in the tunnel. It's said art that makes the tunnel what it is, and it's a real Atlanta icon. Some great art lies between these cold stone pillars. If you're able to take a walk, it's highly recommended, but if you can only drive (or for some reason are too scared to get out and walk), at the very least do so!
It's hip, it's cool, it's fun, it's Atlanta graffiti at it's finest. The Krog Street Tunnel is just as Atlantan as Blondie and Baton Bob, so don't miss it... and lay off the hate, y'all! -

Krog Street Tunnel is awesome because it's every dank graffiti-filled tunnel from every 70s crime/80s action movie ever. Chuck Norris would get into a fight with six toughs in the Krog Street Tunnel right before he drove a pickup truck through the wall of the Clermont Lounge.
Highly approved.Listed in: You Just Gotta Try This…

Wow, We review anything on Atlanta Yelp!
I passed by the tunnel almost everyday and never gave it any attention until a friend from out of town pointed out the spray painted party announcement. Now when I drive by I notice. -

I really dig the Krog Street Tunnel.
I drive by every day on the way home from work and always hope to be stopped by the light @ Dekalb & Krog just so I can take an extended look to enjoy all of the free spirited art. I have a deep love within my heart for grafitti and all who create it. There's just something so mysterious and individual about it. The risk of being caught with the excitement of showcasing your art to the city has to be one of the best feelings. It keeps me wanting more. I admire the artists who have left their mark on the Krog Street Tunnel. It's really something to see. -

art + city = this tunnel
Some is good, some is lousy, some is great, and all of it was poured out and sprayed out and plastered out from the mind of whomever cared enough to paint for you to see.
Quite a few large cities have no open graffiti areas left, but Atlanta apparently does. I have no idea what the history is, but the present is great. I'll have to come through more often to see the future. -
Review from Adam M.
Few things in this city make me happier than the sheer anarchy - yet controlled artistic dance - of this tunnel. There's always something new, and yet it never seems like someone else's artwork was covered up.
FYI - Great spot for artsy engagement pics or location scouts. We did a few E-pics here and the colors are explosive. -
Review from David K.
I've only recently started to appreciate the uniqueness of the tunnel. Prior to that I always just thought it was another graffiti filled area. Truth-be-told, that's pretty much all it is, but I don't think there's anything else like it in Atlanta. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Since graffiti is mostly gang related, I'm gonna say it's good. This, however, doesn't appear to be totally gang related. It's a giant canvas for personal expression and that's pretty cool.
I'm amazed at the pictures that have been posted. Without them I definitely wouldn't have been able to see some of the beauty, especially the photos with people. That adds another element to art.Listed in: Welcome to Atlanta, Y'all!

I heart this tunnel in big ways. I was tickled pink, yet once again, when I saw that Ivan started the review on this landmark location in Atlanta. First, by way of a disclaimer, I might be biased since I'm a huge fan of tunnels in general. The longer the better...uh oh now I feel like I'm writing an online personals ad. This is a short tunnel, but the character speaks for itself.
The tunnel displays some of the best graffiti art in the state. It's well worth the drive to see it. While you're around the area stop at 97 Estoria and grab a beer. Then walk to Inman Park (through the tunnel). This is also on my top 5 places to see while visiting Atlanta. -

One of my favorite photography spots in the city. Remember discovering it about 10 years ago when there tended to be some sketchy folks hanging out in the area, but the whole neighborhood has really cleaned up (for better or worse, however you view it). Ever changing graffiti and a perfect excuse to stop by 97 Estoria.

I love the Krog Street Tunnel. The tunnel is a form of literature, a window into cultural and artistic affairs, a gigantic, public artists' canvas & bulletin board. Don't just drive through it. Park somewhere nearby and walk it. (It is pedestrian safe.)

The Krog Street Tunnel is, for me, synonymous with Atlanta. It is ever-evolving public art, interesting and inspiring for natives as well as visitors. DeKalb Ave was the main artery of my daily commute for one year, and every day that I passed by the tunnel it didn't lose its edge. I have a crystal clear mental picture of the river that became the tunnel during the flood in 2009. I was stopped at the intersection of Dekalb and Krog, surrounded by freak-out drivers (myself included) and buckets of rain pounding down... and one girl in an Integra who decided to drive into the Krog-River... haha. To this day I wonder if she made it across.

I've lived near this tunnel for years and it's always on my route to and from work. I love the changes you see in the artwork from week to week and sometimes the best will arrive to showcase their talent. Unfortunately after it's done some regular fool from the neighborhood will tag it with his/her crap. You also get a great look at the some of the social awareness that exists to let us know that our government and the big corporations aren't fooling us.

I wish i could give this 5 stars but so much of the graffiti is crap...It also smells like pee in the summer but that's probably because its covered in pee in the summer. That's not the tunnel's fault though. I was once driving home from work and I was on Edgewood. These cars were all cheating and using the bike lane as a turn lane so i scooted over to block the cheaters. This car squeeeeeezed beside me and started posturing and I mouthed "that's not a turn lane" and continued when the light changed. I turned and headed toward the tunnel. The lady in the passenger seat lost her mind at the gall I showed. I think she felt i disrespected her. anyway, she got out of the car. I was (shhhh, don't tell anyone) on my cell phone and kind of making fun of her chickenheading out behind me. Her head was like a bobblehead she was so angry. And then she got out of the car. She started screaming "what did you say?!" and then she tried to get in on my passenger side. luckily it was locked but I would have stabbed her in the throat with scissors if she got in. It would have been ok because I could say she was carjacking me. anyhow- oh yeah- the light was still red and she's banging on the window screaming "SAY IT TO MY FACE!" and then she (no shit) pulls her pants down and rubs her fat booty on my window while screaming "SAY IT TO MY MUTHAFUCKIN ASSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!" She then proceeded to try to get in again. She's a wacky one, right? Eventually the driver of the car behind me told her to get her ass back in the car. I was on the phone the whole time and it was hysterical.
To summarize: yes, go to the Krog Tunnel and check it out. -

Since I drive through this tunnel multiple times a week...perhaps the thrill is gone for me.
It floods easily during torrential rains (more common than they used to be since our drought is over) and frankly it's a bit creepy at night.
If you are a big fan of creative graffiti though - then this place is worth a visit. -

I maintain that this is my favorite art gallery in town. And apart from being colorful and interesting to look at, it's also one of the prime, unofficial advertising spaces in Atlanta. It seems that every time I drive by, new festival dates or race locations or rock shows or marriage proposals have been slapped up above Decatur St. The Krog St. Bridge keeps me informed!

Although I think it needs a little bit more lighting at night the Krog St Tunnel is awesome. I've lots of model wannabe's take pictures in front of the graffiti, It should definitely be kept as it is but still need more lighting at night.

The Krog Street Tunnel is worth the drive to check it out. When I drive through it I feel like I am in the movies. Its nice and dark and floods super easy- not that that is a problem in this continous drought. It is my favorite spot for feeling like I am in super urban area., plus there is always some hot new artwork on the walls. Oh did I mention the great bar right across the street. Check it out.

Krog Street Tunnel is really something special. There has been some great street art in here and on the side where it faces CTown. Some self-righteous overzealous Cabbagehead disagrees and has roller painted gray over some really wonderful artwork. Pooh on You!

The Krog Tunnel is probably one of my favorite places in Atlanta. In a city gone aquamarine highrise condo crazy, the Krog Tunnel is a little reminder of the grit and grime that make this city interesting and ecclectic. Take a slow ride through there on your way to Estoria and take a moment to appreciate the forgotten art of tagging. Also a great place to get some street wisdom and philosophy if you're lost (have you tried the Hare Krishna?)
