The place has a cool vibe. Kristin definitely knows what she's doing in regards to jewelry design and making and it's on display, along with the fine jewelry training offered at the same location.
I actually took the intensive here about a year ago. First day I was told to sketch a design that I'll carve in wax. Sketch? Carve? What? So I asked for help from above (and from Kristin and/or assistants) and didn't sink but swam and loved it. It's still my favorite design!
I enjoyed the flexibility of hours, and of curriculum if you need it to be.
Creativity does flourish here and you meet pretty cool people.
You learn a lot in a very short amount of time, from wax carving, to piercing, sawing, etc. and llet's not forget stone setting (God willing I'll never have to do a prong setting again in my life for I'd like to retain my eyesight and sanity for years to come ;)).
Some FIT students came here as well, saying they liked the ability to create your own designs and not have everyone do the exact same thing. Before this, I hadn't taken anything other than the FIT continuing ed courses in beading and wirewrapping so I really can't say.
Kristin also hires some very knowledgeable assistants who are very helpful to students.
What I liked the most was the flexibility, not only of hours but of design. You need freedom to create, and you'll have that here.
