My friend and I came here on my friend Rose's recommendation, making it the first stop on our trip straight from the airport. Nothing I love better than breakfast. Breakfast for breakfast. Breakfast for lunch. Breakfast for dinner.
I had the grilled mahi mahi with over easy eggs. It's served with hash browns or rice, cornbread or toast. You can pick one or two 6 oz. fillets. It's a lot of food. The fish was simple and tasty. The hash browns were good, but I would ask for them crispy. My eggs were too buttery/greasy. The corn bread was amazing. The regular coffee was nice and strong. Overall, a pretty good meal.
Went here with the wife for some breakfast on a busy Sunday morning. Waitresses were running all over the place (there were only two) and orders kept on getting mixed up. Seriously, get some more staff.
I had the Sampler with french toast, got to my table luke warm. The wife had an omelet which she said was delicious. So, if you go, get an omelet.
I bet this place could have been better, but when I went it was not so great, hence the low rating.
I love good dive restaurants like this, where the portions are huge, the prices are good and you want to be hung over when you walk in because you know the food will make you feel like a million dollars.
Get the pancakes, the french toast or the pig omelet. Can't go wrong.
Definately Favorite place for breakfast on the island. Can't go wrong with banana or macadamia nut pancakes with COCONUT syrup. One of my favorite meals of all time. Go here and you won't regret it.
Pretty damned fine breakfast. We didn't make it here until 11:30 am but needed breakfast and not lunch. My bride ordered an mushroom and Cheddar cheese omelet. I had the sampler. 2 pancakes,bacon,2 eggs, and 1/2 a papaya. The only bad thing I can say is the eggs were cooked medium hard, not over medium as ordered. The flavor was fantastic, and very yummy. The portuguese sausage is really worth a try, so don't miss it! Large servings, and arrived fast. I like a place that has corned beef hash, and Spam on the side orders! Parking was easy, honestly friendly service, and we saw our waitress when shopping next door after breakfast, and she stopped and talked to us like an old friend would do. I felt right at home, not like a tourist
Food - polynesian omlet (portuguese sausage and kimchee) --- I had such high expectations but was flatly disappointed. Flavor was ok, but it was super heavy on the sausage and therefore, the whole thing was a grease wad. It needed a bowl of rice to soak up the lard. Unfortunately, we ordered hashbrowns to accompany it which didn't help the greasefactor. Lipitor, anyone? Don't get me wrong. I love my grease in measured quantity. The saving grace was the macadamia nut pancakes. Great texture and the nuts IN the pancakes rather than ground into the syrup was marvelous.
Service - knocked down a few stars due to the sassy attitude that came from the woman (middle aged woman with big bleached blond hair with roots) who took our money. We used a coupon provided by the hotel for 10%. Yah, I know it sounds ghetto, but we're in a recession people! She looked so put off. Well, if you don't like taking coupons, don't distribute them. Guy in back of us, poor thing, had a coupon too.

My friend who has visited the island many times told me one thing--"You gotta have the Loco Moco at Kountry Kitchen!!"
Well, my travel pals weren't too excited about the rice with a burger patty, fried egg and gravy on top. So, I ended up calling in and getting it to-go for the drive. Because of that, I didn't get to "experience" the diner setting and relax with a cup of coffee, so that might have downgraded the meal.
First, I'm not a big white rice fan. Second, my meat patty was really dry. You can't mess up an over-easy egg, so that was good. Their gravy was a thick brown one, pretty tasty...made me wish for mashed potatoes. The showstopper was the bread! They offered toast or cornbread and oh boy...one of the best cornbreads I've had!
If I ever return to the island, I will definitely make a proper visit to K. K.

Good service.
Probably the best omelet I've ever had.
Awesome hash browns. Very krispy :)
Will go back.

The Kountry Kitchen is AWESOME!!
My husband and I went to Kauai for our honeymoon, and we stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant. In the course of a week, we had breakfast here 3 times, making the 30 minute drive down from Princeville.
In our three meals there, we tried the pork-fried rice omelet, Polynesian omelet (with Portuguese sausage and kim-chee), chili omelet, cheesey eggs (the best eggs benedict you can imagine) and sweetbread french toast (with coconut syrup, yum!). ALL were amazing and we could not get enough!
If you're going to be in Kauai anytime soon, you MUST check out the Kountry Kitchen, it won't disappoint!
Overall pretty good cafe/diner type place. After asking to be seated near the window the hostess seemed a bit peeved so she reached over to throw our menus past the waitress and over the booth chair (they don't take well to mainlanders uppity requests)-minus one star. I ordered a bacon and cheese omelette. It was huge and a little greasier than I'd like although stuffed with bacon and cheese. My Mom ordered macadamia nut pancakes. Fluffy yummy and filled with bits of macadamia nut. They paired well with the coconut syrup which seems watery but tastes great. My Dad's meal was filling and well made. My nephew (5) enjoyed his meal and had enough room in the booth to lay down when he was over it. Beware of the angry hostess if you make any requests!!
In the end this restaurant lives up to Denny's with a bit of an Island twist. Add some local Hawaiians, a macadamia flavor here, a coconut flavor there and you got yourself a Hawaiian Denny's without the Logo. The meal was heavy enough to hold us over till later in the day and it was conveniently located on the main highway (most things are around here!). This is my third time to the island and my second time here. It's mediocre with a twist so I will be there again on my next visit while out and about.
Not a bad place for breakfast in Kapaa. An unlikely country style diner, a cross between island and Southern Living; it works.
There are plenty of booths and the place keeps busy. The service is polite and prompt, but without any pretension. I had the cheesey eggs (see my photo) and my husband had the moco loco.
What possessed me to get cheesey eggs??? I doubted my choice when I saw the bright, radioactive-like, orange, processed glow in front of me. Honestly, I could've skipped the cheese, it was too weird. But the poached eggs on top of an english muffing were just fine.
The moco loco was drowned in a watery brown gravy and was average. You want a moco loco? Go to Mark's Place.
All in all, the ambiance and food were fine, but nothing to write home about. PS. The restrooms are small but very clean and nicely decorated.

You know i haven't been here in years, and i mean YEARS, and yet whenever i think about breakfast one of the restaurants that pops up in my head is kountry kitchen and that just goes to show you just how meaningful this place is.
It's not a big restaurant but what it lacks in square feet it makes up for with great food. If you're in Kapaa, or on Kauai for that matter, there's no place like Kountry Kitchen to enjoy a hardy meal. Just remember to go in early!
Had the macadamia and banana with the coconut syrup which was great. The banana add a nice moisture while the mac nuts add a wonderful texture. The coconut syrup was just the icing on the cake. What really stole the show for me was the Polynesian Omelette! An omelette with Portuguese sausage and kimchee? i am in heaven! I was worried that the kimchee would have been too overpowering but it wasn't. I am not sure if it was washed before added to the omelette but it had just the right amount of kimchee flavor for me. Awesome. Even my brother who doesn't like kimchee loved the omelette!

One of the better breakfasts we had during our stay in Kauai. Clean restaurant, good food, but pricey (however pricey is a common theme in my Hawaii posts & it's to be expected, so eh). The pancakes were excellent, and we also had one of the daily specials, which was a bowl scrambler which had hash browns, eggs, chorizo, cheese, peppers, etc.
Okay...so they seriously nickel and dime you here! I had the sampler - eggs, bacon, pineapple and pancakes. My DH had the banana pancakes and omlette with bacon and sausage. The coconut pancakes had so much coconut that there was hardly any pancake batter, and the banana ones had some bad bananas in them. The omlette bar does have a lot of options, but very expensive to make your own. Not enough egg - so much meat that it you are eating spoonfuls of meat but not much egg. The hashbrowns were meh. The cornbread was decent. Yes, you do get a lot of food, but getting a lot of food doesn't make up for quality. We really liked Eggbert's a lot better!
We went to the Kountry Kitchen on our last day on the island for breakfast. It is so not what it looks like on the outside of the restaurant. It is very cute and charming inside. The food was good, nothing fantastic. My wife had the coconut sweet bread french toast which took her to "coconut paradise" after she added the coconut syrup. I had the macadamia nut pancakes which were very heavy and filling. I couldn't even finish half of them. OVerall, Kountry Kitchen is tasty for breakfast! Cheers!
This place is off of the main highway, but unless you know what you are looking for, kinda easy to miss. The inside is VERY 1990's "Country Styled." The food was VERY VERY VERY (should I dare say EXTREMELY) GREASY! I love a "greasy spoon," don't get me wrong, but when that is all you can taste... I am not too happy. If this Kountry Kitchen is anything like my Aunt's Kitchen (where the family is 300lbs+) then I don't want to go here..... Once was fine, but not again.
For some reason, I expected a tiny, dark hole in the wall after I read some Yelp Reviews. But when we finally tried Kountry Kitchen out, I found that it had a clean, homey feel to it. The patrons were a nice mixture of tourists and locals alike. It's smack dap in the center of the town of Kapaa, which is on the east side of the island. Both times we went for breakfast, we didn't get a seat immediately, but only had to wait no more than fifteen minutes. The servings were exceptionally generous and the prices fair. My daughter ordered a cheese omelet that spilled over the sides of her plate. They served some typical Hawaiian fare, such as spam, rice, and eggs, but they also had regular breaksfast items such as pancakes, toast and eggs. It was wonderful breakfast food; you can't expect too much from it. Each table had a container of a thick, pale substance; it turned out to be heaven in a (coconut) syrup. The syrup was not too sweet and melted smoothly into the buttered pancakes. The combination was harmonious to the taste buds. So much so that I ran to Food Land and bought two teeny tiny containers of the exact coconut syrup for a whopping $14.00 to bring home!
On the way to the Hanalei Bay, be sure to make a stop at Kountry Kitchen. It's definitely worth it!
I heard a lot about this place from others about how great it was. I thought it was just ok. Yes, the coconut pancakes are good and the coconut syrup is probably the best thing at that place (not sweet at all) but eggs, bacon, omelette and other preparations were not good at all.
We read such great reviews of the place, so we were really excited to have our first breakfast in Kauai here.
Unfortunately, this place epitomizes a 3 star restaurant.
Everything was pretty mediocre. I had the sweet bread french toast, and seriously, it was so bland! It needed more vanilla, sugar, cinnamon, something! I've had this dish other places, and really enjoyed it. Although, at Kountry Kitchen it had no flavor. It was also a little greasier here than at other places.
Service was pleasant, and out food came FAST! Which we appreciated, since we were excited to explore Kapa'a.
I can't give them less than 3 stars, since they were nice, and food wasn't horrible, (just not very good.)
We never went back, and probably never would.
The theme for our trip seems to be chickens. There are chickens freakin' everywhere! Kountry Kitchen fits right in. Chicken theme all over inside.
They have good food, too. It's a combination of standard white food and island fare. One person can get loco moco, someone else can get eggs benedict.
Small, friendly. They mixed up POG for my kids when they asked for it. There's some of that coconut syrup on the table that's probably 200% fat (wait, we're on vacation so it doesn't count, right?).

So we visited here strictly based on Yelp reviews because I wanted to try the coconut syrup so badly. And I was not disappointed! I have the Coconut Sweetbread French Toast and it was so tasty. Freshly shaved coconut on top of the spongiest, sweetest bread, and all topped off with their coconut syrup. It's a coconut lovers dream! My boyfriend had their banana pancake which was so huge it could double as a spare tire, and he loved it as well. They serve cornbread with some of their breakfasts and it's really fresh. The wait was a little over 10 minutes, but well worth it.

Eh. The Service was great, nice people, and the food was hearty, but the food was nothing great. I thought the pancakes we're dry, even after all the butter and syrup. The chili omelete sounded good, but I don't dig canned chili at all. I don't care for canned corned beef hash either or hard hash browns. Maybe it was just a bad first experience, but I didn't see what all the hype was about.
So two stars for me. One for the service and One for the portion size and price.
This was the best place I ate while I was visit Kauai with my wife. We liked it so much, that we ate their three times in our one week trip. I recommend any of the pancakes with the delicious coconut syrup. I also really enjoyed the Idaho Omelette, it comes with tomatoes, bacon, sour cream, hashbrowns and onions all packed inside. They have to use atleast 4-6 pieces of bacon, there's so much of. Highly recommend this place if you happen to be anywhere near Kapaa for breakfast. Or just figure out a good reason to be in Kapaa around breakfast time.

Dammit! Coconut French Toast WITH coconut syrup? Ridiculous. Throw in the Polynesian omelette with Kim Chee and Sausage and you have sheer brilliance!
BEST. BREAKFAST. RESTAURANT. EVER.
We had the Coconut French Toast and the Polynesian Omelette... nothing can compare. The Coconut Syrup is addicting. Service is great. There's always a line.. but it's fairly quick and worth the wait.
Cute chicken decor. I included pictures just because I love this place so much.
This was a perfect place to bring our big appetite. I had the sample plate with two strawberry pan cakes eggs, bacon, and hash browns. With friendly service and great food I could stay in there all day. They also had great local artwork for sale on the walls. Very chill vibe. We walked out of there ready to take on the rest of our day.

This place was fantastic! The food came in large portions (the pancakes were HUGE) and it tasted just wonderful.
The atmosphere was great and there were even locals eating in there (so you know its good and not overpriced).
Not sure what's up with the hateration from the recent reviews - we came, we ate 2 omelettes, we loved 'em! The Luau Omelette has kalua pig, spinach and cheese and was suckling-pig good. The Polynesian Omelette has Portuguese sausage, kimchee and cheese, and this odd blend was a wonderful medley to the palate. The place is a bit run down and homey, but that's part of the charm. Ok I know, maybe it's the 3 'K's in the name and locale that has people hating, but look past the initials, this place is good!
Read closely: Cream cheese-stuffed French Toast with Pineapple Mango Jam. I have photos to prove it. Droooool....

My wife and I were talking about this place the other night. It is hands down our FAVORITE place on Kauai for breakfast. The pancakes are incredible and the service is always nice. We've been to Kauai 3 times and eat here almost every morning for breakfast. I asked if she really liked the breakfast and her response was, "they could serve garbage and I'd still love it because we'd be in Kauai."
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day...and let me tell you it's not just that - it's wikked yummie here too!
Don't fret because there is a wait - it's well worth it.
Service is prompt, the menu is diverse and even the coffee is good (not Dunkin Donuts good but good nonetheless) The view of ocean from the windows is worth it as well.
Several hometown shops are nearby so you can do a little shopping after you eat (helps it digest)
In my opinion this is the place to come for breakfast! Came here twice and were seated promptly. I got the same thing both times we came and I am telling you not to pass up those pancakes:) I got the sampler which came with 2 eggs your way 2 pieces of bacon and 2 pancakes. You can pick the flavor of pancakes your choices are banana, coconut, macadamia nut and I think one other flavor that I cannot remember right now. I got the macadamia nut pancakes... they were awesome!! The service was fast and friendly and it was not over priced. Definitely give this place a shot!
Second time in Kapaa and second time eating here. This place is nothing special, but unfortunately it's the best out of all the places that serve breakfast. There has been approx. a ten minute wait each time I've come. The service is subpar in the sense that no one seems to have a personality there. It essentially is a place to sit, eat, and leave and you probably see you're waitress MAYBE a handful of times. The GF didn't receive her drink until after she got her breakfast. We tried to stop the waitress, but she COMPLETELY ignored us without saying a word. I know she heard us because about two minutes later she came by and asked what we wanted. It gets a three because the food doesn't deserve a two, but the service is probably a one.
After reading the previous review by Heather, my husband and I went there for breakfast. The prices and portion are both good and the service was prompt.
It's got your typical diner food here, but also some twist of the local flavors (such as loco moco, kalua pig omelette) I ordered the omelette that had kimchee, sausage, onion and cheese. I had a choice of hashbrown/rice, and I picked rice. Also had a choice of corn bread or toast and I chose cornbread.
The cornbread came steamy hot! Just a lovely thing in the morning! My husband ordered a standard 2egg breakfast w/meat and also another side order of one pancake. My omelette was very tasty, and they gave me two scoops of rice.
Oh yes, the cover of the menu shows a copy of a page from the Kauai Island Daily War Post (not totally sure if I remember the name of the post correctly but it's close) from December 22, 1942. It's a good read. Interesting stuff going on then.
We didn't order coffee and my husband had an orange juice. The whole tab came to about $25.00. Not bad at all. I'd recommend checking this place out. Oh yeah, this place gets busy. We had to wait, but not that long, like 10 minutes. I think it's worth it.
Possibly the best breakfast we've had in a long long long while. My husband had the banana pancakes and they were unbelievably delicious. I had a Denver omlette and it too was fantastic. Not the "cutest" of eateries, but the taste of the food makes up for it.
Me and my boyfriend LOVES this place. It is "our" breakfast place on the weekends. Great friendly speedy service. The coffee is great and so is the food. I recommend the banana pancakes and omelet. There is usually a long line but the staff is so on it that they really keep things going. Our average wait is about 10 min. The service is always consistent. This place is great!
This place was pretty cool. Where all the locals go. Huge pancakes!
This was the best breakfast we had in Kauai! Okay, well, it was the only breakfast we ate out while we were in Kauai, but it really was excellent. I had their special of the day, a stuffed sweet bread french toast served with mac nut honey. YUM! Big portions, good quality. Only issue was the wait, so be warned you might wait an hour.
Greatest coconut french toast you can ever eat! Wonderful omlets too!
Very reasonable and friendly service. Unfortunately we discovered the Kountry Kitchen on the last day of our vacation or we would have eaten there many more times. Definitely a place you want to visit while in Kapaa.
