Thank you for letting us know we did not meet your expectations. We have reviewed the work order. We did quote you $997 for the manufacturer's original replacement part and the labor to install it + our 1 year parts and labor warranty. It sounds like you have a great deal on the $89 part you found. Good luck and enjoy your day.
Nov 28, 2020Previous reviewIt is so insulting that someone from Kotz comes on and lies. The lady from Kotz called me and told me the part was $797.00. Not the job....The PART. I called back and said that was ridiculous I can get the part online for $89 a little over $100 if delivered the next day. The Kotz employee responded with this quote " we only buy top of the line parts that's the cost of the premium part we buy." Done believe the Kotz hack that he told. It was not for labor and guarantee. I called back a third time and the employee repeated the same thing. $797 for the part and sorry I was unhappy with the situation and was returning the $200 check that I had given them to start. Nothing worse than a company trying to rip you off but then to insult the customer with a lie that it was for the job and warranty or what ever the employee posted. That is a LIE. Again three times I was told the part was 797 because they only use premium parts. Again that was only for the part. Never again!
Nov 19, 2020Previous reviewAWFUL. DECEITFUL. CORRUPT. TOTAL RIP OFF. $797 charge for an $89 part I replaced myself in furnace. They literally said the $89 part was going to cost $797 then labor etc. it took me 15 minutes to install. Would never use them again.
Oct 20, 2020Previous reviewI wasn't going to post this because it was such an awful scoundrel type event but then I realized I would want to know. The pilot light in my furnace wasn't lighting. I called Kotz the man that came was fine. It was the Intelligence thing that triggers the stages was bad after 12 years. They said they had to order one. I also bought a 2 year coverage plan for the furnace. The next morning after I had researched and found the exact part online for $89 $105 with overnite shipping Kotz called. They told me the replacement part was $797.00. I couldn't believe what they were saying. I'm a senior. I think they thought I was dumb and desperate. I just said no and hung up. Ordered the one online and called them back the next day and talked to someone. I told her I didn't appreciate being told an $89 part was $797. She said well the one that we buy is the best. I was so disgusted that they would take advantage of me. I installed the part myself and the pilot fired right up. I'm not a mechanic. But to charge a $1,000 for a $89 dollar part should make a Russian oligarch blush. I will NEVER even think of using this corrupt company again. Shame on Kotz!
This is the piece that was replacedOct 7, 2020Previous reviewMy 12 year old furnace had a problem this week. The pilot wasn't lighting. I called Kotz Heating and Cooling in Waterford and they sent a repairman out. He discovered immediately that the Integrated Furnace Control system wasn't triggering..lighting the pilot. The repairman showed me what it was. They would have the part the next day. Well they called me with the price for the part. $997.00. I had already researched it and told the Kotz employee the EXACT one that ran the furnace for 12 years was only $89. She hung up and never called back. So I called the next day. She said she would research and get back to me. No return call so I called back and got one of the same women that answered. I said I'm having the same one that is in the furnace now delivered tomorrow. How could you think of replacing an $89 one for one that costs $997. She said it was the best! So it should last 120 years???!!! They were totally taking advantage of me. A total rip off. That was just the cost of the part. Labor wasn't included. They are the LAST COMPANY I WOULD EVER CALL. TOTAL SCAM ARTISTS.

Molly completed today our first annual maintenance to our furnace. She was patient and answered our questions. She was knowledgeable and very kind. Each technician that has come to our home has been equally professional as we replaced this past year; furnace, hot water heater, central air, and sump pump/backup system. We highly recommend KOTZ to family and friends. Thank you, KOTZ and Associates. Joe & Myriam Manrriquez

Wow! What an incredible experience. I was referred to the Kotz team by a coworker when my ELDERLY VETERAN father needed the entire house redone. I wish I could have given them an even better rating but 5 was the most amount of stars possible. They were upfront about the entire process: HONEST hardworking people. They kept him involved the entire way and even followed up a week later to ensure that everything was working properly. Costs were extremely fair and they did fantastic work. I have taken the "cheap" way out before and that is why I needed to have all of the work redone. Great service, fair, honest, smooth process. I cannot say enough about how incredible and caring my technician was. I could tell he treated my father like he treats his own. 10/10!

Thank you for the awesome 5-star review, Timothy. It's great to hear things went so smoothly for your father. Kotz Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing now looks forward to maintaining his new system in the future. We hope you will continue the word-of-mouth advertising by telling other friends and coworkers about the service you received.

Horrible. Have used Kotz in the past with no problems. Both furnace and water heater. This time had to schedule 2 weeks out for a kitchen sink and told it would be between 10-4. Fine. Took time off to be home. At 1pm had to call to see if everything was still on track. Talked to Riley. Was told no notes by the tech so everything should still be a go. At 2pm was called by Teresa and told that the tech 'was having a problem' and I would have to reschedule for next week. Told her no thanks but thanks for wasting 3 weeks of my time including a whole day off for a no show.

Couldn't have a more opposite opinion of other reviews. While Kotz isn't cheapest group around, the quality of the service, the professionalism and punctuality of their people, etc. has always been great. They always clean up and make sure everything looks the same or better then when they came. Technician even offered for me to sit with him to watch what he was doing and inspecting. Have used them for new installs and ongoing maintenance and never had an issue.

BEWARE!
Kotz charged us over $700 for a simple blower motor replacement, they got lucky because I was out of town and called them and needed the furnace working again for my wife, had I been home I would have found many reputable HVAC companies that said they would have only charged me about $300. Kotz does that so you can get a $400 credit towards a new furnace IF you purchase one within two weeks of the service.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jesse B.SPRINGFLD Township, MI01Oct 12, 2018
Be very cautious considering a 'service' plan. We paid up front for 3 years over $500 for twice a year service. Nick, the guy who came to service was great.
But, when trying to schedule service, it's a 2.5 month wait every time. For maintenance service, that was paid up front. It's a classic take the money and run.
Based on this, I would recommend to NOT do business with them at all. We were told if it was an emergency, they could get someone out here sooner. I assume because that would be paid work.
If my HVAC fails, I will NOT purchase or have them install or ever service.
When we asked for a refund of the balance of the service plan, the lady (her name was Star) got very rude with my wife on the phone.

Very dishonest business. Came to my house and charged my AC unit with 1.5 Lbs of R410. I was charged $514. Never fixed the leak as I was asked for $369 more for the die! Two days later I called someone else who came added the die for $90. I asked how much it ccharge for refrigerant? The response was $80 per pound. I do not recommend .

Kotz Heating, Cooling & Plumbing always strives to provide our customers with a fair price for services rendered, but we will never compromise quality to provide service at a lower price. We were charged 224.00 to be told that our AC unit was freezing up because we use a 3M furnace filter! It took Anthony 1 hour to tell us that. So, we were charged 84.00 service "diagnostic fee" and one hour "labor fee". We will NEVER call this scam of a company again. Oh, and I called to make a complaint and was told the managers were "in a meeting ". Yeah, okay. If you dont work hard for your money and enjoy tossing it out a window, then give these guys a call!

Scam, They prey on the elderly. DON'T BUY A SERVICE PLAN!
An elderly family member has kept a service plan with KOTZ for several years, maybe decades. I moved into her house when she became ill and received a postcard from Kotz saying her yearly checkup had been prepaid the previous year and I needed to schedule. I scheduled it that week. I thought great! They'll come out, clean the furnace and AC, maybe make some adjustments, fill a little Freon, change the filter and let me know if there were any major problems. Everything had been working great, cold air, and no problems. When the tech showed up, ALL he wanted to talk about was getting me to pay upfront for service calls for the next 3 yrs. She had paid $279 for this one yearly visit- he offered $600 for 3 years. I asked what was included and was told absolutely NOTHING was included!! The $279 covered him to come out. It didn't cover any adjustments, filter or Freon. I asked, why wouldn't I just call if I had a problem? He said I could but there was a $125 service call fee- THATS LESS THAN HALF OF THE $279!!! He did an inspection and said he could add Freon and change a capacitor (just because) and it would be $400-600 depending on how much Freon he needed. If my aunt had been there I'm sure she would have been worried and payed the $400-600 plus the $600 service plan renewal. I told him to get the hell out of the house. The furnace and AC has worked flawlessly now for a year without his recommended repairs. They should be asshamedHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
