This place is the best! I frequently order to-go and everything is packed with care and presented as sushi should be! Everything I have tried here has been delicious from simple to fancy, and I'm not afraid to try something new because their recipes are always spot on yummy. They're also super quick with their delivery- so much so I even wonder how it's possible! Don't hesitate to order from here, you'll be a repeat customer in no time!

Just started picking up from here (after Oshima closed) and so far very impressed. Fish quality is spot on, and the rolls are nicely made.
I normally do all small rolls (with just fish), but last night I was joined by a buddy who did all fancy rolls. Each was fantastic.
The ambiance leaves something to be desired, but I only do pickup. -
Review from Barbie L.
Best Sushi in my delivery area, hands down!!
All the classic rolls are excellent...since all their seafood is fresh, fresh, fresh! And they are always consistent. Super reasonably priced lunch specials.
The Chirashi is very generously portioned. I highly recommend the salmon tartar app. It's roughly minced fresh salmon with a raw quail egg in the middle that you mix-in yourself. Some sushi places do salmon tartar differently with assorted mix-ins, but the fish is so fresh here they know they don't need anything but the egg! They let the salmon flavor shine.
For dessert, check out the Banana tempura. -

Koto has best-in-class delivery and perfectly fine sushi. You won't be overwhelmed, but the prices are excellent and the food tastes fresh. I wish other sushi places in Brooklyn had this kind of service (and were this affordable).
Try the crazier rolls - they are good fun. -

Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, NY
This used to be my go-to place for sushi. The last 3 times I have ordered, delivery has taken an hour or hour and a half. The sushi is not as fresh as it used to be. Shrimp tempura arrives cold and soggy now whereas before it was always perfectly crispy and fresh. The salmon is sometimes stringy, whereas it was the best in the area previously [other than Gen]. I might as well order cheaper sushi I know is mediocre rather than continue to be disappointed in this place.

Yum, just ordered delivery from here. my spicy tuna & shrimp w. pineapple roll was very fresh. the gyoza was cooked perfectly and still very hot when it arrived.
the delivery came super quick too, I think I just found my new neighborhood sushi place. -

tsaright...tsaright...
Popped in shortly after it opened and was delighted by the inventive looking specials and traditional feel, but was a bit underwhelmed at the quality and flavor or the selections. The service was friendly and attentive, but the menu seemed like it was trying a bit to hard and needs to balance with the flavor of the fish itself. In any case, if you like vibrating chairs, then this is the place for you, as the two train runs right below! Perhaps that helps with digestion? -

In the top for sushi delivery places in the area.
Dislike their nebayaki udon - too fishy. -
Review from Pamela B.
I ordered delivery from here because I was craving some cold noodles on a hot day--zaru soba, to be exact. When the delivery man arrived (timely, too!), the soba noodles were plentiful and cold, but WHAT: The dipping broth was warm and came in a tiny condiment container! I'm supposed to be dipping all the soba in that thimble of warm liquid? I can't even get any of the wasabi and scallion mix-ins in there! (Also, not to be a snob, but I think horseradish is the more traditional mix-in spice.)
That aside, the gyoza were excellent, and my husband's tempura looked good, too. Maybe I just need to order the zaru soba in the restaurant and stick with more portable entrees for delivery. -

Staff friendliness and helpfulness: 5/5
Price compared to food quality: 3/5
Bathroom: 2/5 (tiny but fine!)
Ambiance 3/5 (ordinary Japanese sushi bar with cute decorations like origami penguins)
Sashimi 3.5/5 (salmon 5/5, portion size 1/5, tuna 4/5 but none of our favorite white tuna, and other assorted raw fish and squid)
Rice 3/5 nice, sticky, ordinary sushi rice.
If it were slightly less expensive, we'd give it a 4/5. We had a terrific dinner here after a long day shopping at Woodbury. We had the Sashimi Special plate (not generous with portions at all), the Spicy Tuna roll (amazing! one of the best rolls I've had... very unique and the seaweed tasted slightly smoked), Yellowtail Scallion (3/5 ordinary and small portions), hot Sake (very alcoholic taste... good!), -

As a new (and brief) NYC resident (Manhattan), I was looking for sushi... and it was all SO expensive. I decided to look in Brooklyn since its a quick train ride and I'm a pretty big fan of the places I've been so far. I found a few places with great reviews and went with Koto. I definitely have no regrets. The rolls we had here were amazing and the service was great. Everything was reasonably priced and I'll definitely be back when I have my next sushi craving. Oh and the desserts are great! Tempura cheesecake is one of my favorite things on earth :)

I used to walk by and have doubts about the price since it was almost always empty but I now know why. Almost everyone gets take out! Great service and good prices. I haven't tried their delivery service but I can tell a lot of other people have as they always have orders waiting for delivery.
Service is fast - I order for pick - up and its always ready in about 10 mins. Chicken katsu is great and the dinner box is definitely enough for 2 meals. -

Brooklyn, NY
I've ordered from this place at least 10 times, and I've got to hand it to them, the food is excellent. It's at least as good as all of the other sushi places around.
The reason why I'm giving it 2 stars and not 4 or 5 is that the delivery guys (or guy, I'm not sure if it's the same one) are incredibly rude. I'll admit, on 2 occasions, I didn't answer my phone right away, and they waited outside for 5 minutes. I'm not exaggerating; 5 minutes both times. On the first occasion, the guy yelled at me. I apologized, and we parted ways. The second time, he absolutely ripped into me. I mean, to the point where I felt like I was on one of those TV shows where they put you in a socially uncomfortable situation and see how you react. I couldn't believe that someone who I was paying quite a bit of money - regularly, at that - would say the things that that guy said.
The bottom line is, Park Slope is full of food, and full of good sushi places. they're all reviewed well on Yelp. Since that's the case, I'm never ordering from Koto again. If you get bad service, don't think that it's a fluke, and order from somewhere else. -

Brooklyn, NY
Very friendly, family owned and run business. Manhattan quality food at a reasonable price for Sushi. I am a huge fan of this restaurant and would highly recommend them to anyone in NYC. It is by far the BEST Sushi in Brooklyn.
Also recently hosted a birthday dinner there and they went above and beyond the call of excellent service to super duper awesome excellent service! I grew up in Manhattan and this has replaced my childhood favorite Sushi place. -

Brooklyn, NY
I just ordered from them for the first time through SeamlessWeb and let me just say I am VERY impressed.
I ordered a Dinner Box for $16.50 and the first thing that impressed me was the fact that you can choose up to two things to go into your dinner box in addition to the Shumai, California Rolls, White Rice, Miso Soup and Salad they give you. Wow. Now, I decided to try that, as I couldn't choose between Chicken Katsu or Chicken Teriyaki, so I expected they'd just throw in a few pieces of each, with two California Rolls, two pieces of Shumai, a scoop of rice, a small container of soup and a small salad.
Well, about 20 minutes later, my food came and I was definitely wrong. The main container had a big scoop of rice, a full-sized order of Chicken Teriyaki, three pieces of Shumai and six California Rolls. Another container had a full-sized order of Chicken Katsu in it, complete with dipping sauce, the Miso Soup was really big, at least a pint, and the salad was the perfect portion to go with the rest of the meal.
The food tasted great and there was enough for me to be full and have another meal left over for later. For $16.50 you definitely get your money's worth and then some. Whenever I crave Japanese food again, this will definitely be the place I order from. -

Manhattan, NY
This was one of the first places that popped up when I did a search for sushi on my blackberry app when my fiance and I drove into the BK to goto IKEA and Home Depot.
It averaged a 4 stars..so what the hell....Its a nice quaint place that wasn't very busy..but looked like it does well with takeout. We ordered the usual...sashimi deluxe..maki combo and a yellowtail hand roll...
Not bad for your neighborhood sushi joint..The fish was fresh and the service was good. The price was pretty reasonable too for us Manhattanites. -

My favorite sushi in the slope!
Amazing customer service. Once the delivery man was busy, so an employee (may have even been the owner or owner's wife, not sure) delivered my sushi to my apt herself. While visibly pregnant. Every time I drop by, they are so nice and my order is always perfect.
Try the salmon special roll. So yum, I have to get one every time. -

Every sushi place in the Prospect Heights area has something going against it. Taro: no delivery (to me, anyways), Gen: no service (unless waiting 30 minutes on average for your food is "service"), Sushi Tatsu: Mediocre. And then there is Koto, delivered to me from the Sushi gods.
Pretty easy to sum this one up: Taro level sushi, really fast delivery, and extremely reasonable prices for the quality. I debated wanting to write this review because I didn't want the "secret to be out" but I really want this place to do well. Do yourself a favor and try Koto for all of the reasons I've mentioned above. I have a feeling you won't regret it. -
Review from Peter D.
I've been eating terribly unhealthy food lately, and I thought it was about time I grabbed a less fattening meal. But then I started thinking about fried chicken, so I went to Mitchell Fish & Chips. They are evidently closed on Monday and Tuesday, so I ended up at Koto.
(You're probably reading this review because you want to know about Koto, but I know you're glad I took you through that progression. You're welcome.)
The place smelled of brine when I walked in; I wasn't sure if that was a good or a bad sign. But I sat down anyway, ordered a Sushi Deluxe, and pulled out my book. Based on the 45 minutes I spent there, Koto does a lot of takeout/delivery business, with not many people dining in. In fact, the only menus they have are takeout.
But the service was impeccable, and as I sat and enjoyed my meal, I couldn't help but overhear the staff speaking Mandarin. Now, many people refuse to eat sushi from a place run by Chinese owners. I, on the other hand, am an exceptionally tolerant, gracious, and strikingly handsome man, so this doesn't bother me. At least as long as the fish is plentiful and fresh. Which it was.
All in all, Koto serves affordable, quality sushi, which is better than 90% of the places in my experience. -

Living in the Clinton Hill area, it's a struggle sometimes to find the best food. Fortunately, Koto is a gem! I've had their sushi twice, the first time was delivery and the second time I happened to be in the area - heading to Freddy's Backroom Bar. Knowing how quickly they delivered, and how absolutely delicious the place was, I stopped in there for dinner. The same lady that so kindly took my delivery order was working that night.
I ordered the dinner box - for $15, you get two choices. I got the sushi (6 pcs) and sashimi (3 pcs). It comes with miso soup, salad, and the dinner box itself has 3 shumai dumplings along with a large ball of steaming rice. The sushi and sashimi were TOP quality - salmon, tuna and striped bass sashimi, salmon, tuna and fluke sushi. I was pleasantly surprised to see such great fish choices come out on a meal like this.
I would easily give Koto 4.5 stars! The fish delicious, the service is fast, their rolls are amazing!Listed in: Clinton Hill Digs

This was not my first neighborhood sushi place but, unless Taro's prices come down, it's my last. The quality is good and the lunch special is great. The staff is very friendly in person and on the phone. Their crunchy, spicy rolls are delicious!

Food is pretty good. Have gotten food from here for lunch several times. Delicious, but they do not use a lot of salt. This is good. So you may want to add a little if you need it. I have had the Shumai (shrimp dumplings), Shrimp Teriyaki, Chicken Teriyaki, Sesame Chicken and Salmon. I usually get a Lunch Box or Kitchen Special which come with soup and salad. The Lunch Box comes also with Harumki, California Roll, both also come with a choice of white, brown, or fried rice.
They do have a vast menu of various item for every palate. I am not big on sushi but theirs is pretty good.
If in the neighborhood, come out and try. The service is very good also, eat in, take-out, or delivery. -

Yup! That's right Koto Sushi - i'm giving you 5 smackeroo's. This place is awesome, not only do they deliver late the food is delic. My favorite items are the goyza and the crazy dragon roll. My boyfriend is... for lack of a better word, a total food snob. One late night he asked me to order him food and Koto sushi was one of the only places delivering. After some initial resistance he gave it a shot and fell in love! If you are looking for some great sushi delivery get Koto!

i used to have doubts about delivery sushi, but this place makes sushi so good i have happily spent the last $15 in my checking account to feast on spicy rolls. more than once. so friggin good.
lunch is the way to go - since you can get any 3 rolls for $10
i've never actually been to the restaurant, but i plan to change that asap. -

One of the BEST Japanese restaurants I have been to! I have been eating at this place a few times over the years and they are consistently great. The sushi is fresh and delicious, the service is friendly and the deco is casual and tasteful. Highly recommended if you are near this neighborhood.

this. place. is. FIYAH!!!
i completely recommend eating here. i am guilty of ordering the same items (e.g. shrimp shumai, spicy shrimp roll) every time i frequent the restaurant and am completely satisfied each-and-every time. ok, how often does THAT happen? got to love it. great food with a wonderful hostess/waitress and awesome gentlemen staffing the sushi bar? couldn't ask for more. the next time you see me in here, say "hello fellow yelper!" -
Review from Lama B.
For delivery this place is spot on! I worked nights for an entire month and out of the 20 nights I was on call I ordered Koto maybe 15 of them. Koto, if you are wondering why September was such a great month for you, I am single handedly the reason. The delivery is not very fast, depending on the day, but the fish is invariably fresh and delicious. I always get the sashimi platter and a roll and everything is always delectable. They have really good specialty rolls too if you're feeling adventurous. So Koto, this review is my tribute to my sanity, which I still have after night float, was maintained through the graces of your perfectly sliced raw fish morsels. Thank you!

I'm finding myself constantly switching my sushi loyalties, unable to choose just one sushi place in Park Slope to consistently order from. It's a stressful yet awesome problem, but I may have solved it when I ordered Koto last night. The Godzilla roll reminded me of something I'd get at my Michigan sushi place, and the shrimp tempura roll was perfect. The delivery was pretty quick and the prices are reasonable.

One of the better sushi places in the Heights. Prefer it over Guido sushi which is just down Flatbush towards the park. Koto is fairly priced, with good quantities, and great bang for your buck. For $32 all-in I got chicken terrayaki, rice, veggies, miso soup, and 3 rolls.
Would recommend it to folks looking for a good sushi spot. -

Brooklyn, NY
We went in around 7 on a Wednesday evening. We were the only ones there, but they were keeping the delivery person on his toes. The service was wonderful. Very attentive and cheerful, but not at all bothersome, as can sometimes be the case. We started off with some hot tea, then had miso soup. This was the best miso I'd ever tasted. I was impressed that some of their rolls actually don't come with rice. I usually have to order expensive hand rolls to get rolls that don't have rice in them. The food was amazingly good, and the presentation was beautiful. I had to wonder if the people who were ordering for delivery knew just what they were missing out on when getting the food in a box instead of beautifully plated and presented. Not only were there the normal garnishes, the rolls themselves were beautiful and there were rose petals on the plate. The food was almost too pretty to eat, but we ate it anyway. This was some of the best, if not THE best sushi I've had.
My nine year old son is not into sushi, so he ordered the terriyaki chicken. It was also very, very good.
I'm not sure how a previous reviewer saw the place as a cheap Chinese take out place decor. We found the decor to be simple and pretty. I will be going back there, and would recommend that anyone else go, as well.
Bottom Line: The prices are reasonable, the staff is very nice, and the food is wonderful. -

We ordered the uni which was on the "specials of the day" list. It came and it seems stale. The service was great but food was mediocre. There are better quality sushi places around the area such as Gen Sushi and Taro Sushi.

Brooklyn, NY
There are several sushi places in the area, and we have tried a few. This one has a particular distinction of being a bit better than the rest. We've had it a few times and it has been consistently good. The fish is fresh and everything is flavorful and well prepared. So far my favorite rolls are yellowtail jalapeno (not short on spice!) the mango shrimp is amazing, and salmon avocado cucumber. Had a piece of striped bass sushi, delicious! I was curious about what Ume Shiso, and loved it. Kinda a smokey taste to it. My only complaint was that I ate huge chunk of wasabi by accident, but that's my own stupid fault.

I don't ever write reviews, but I felt it was necessary to write one for Koto. It's awesome. The fish is extremely fresh -- I've ordered delivery or take-out tens of times and the quality has been consistently excellent. I've never sat-in (its pretty small and not that great looking), but if you don't care about the decor and people walking in constantly to pick up food, then I'm sure it would be cool. Especially considering that the surrounding sushi spots are pretty weak, this place is a gem.

This place is a hidden gem! It doesn't have the hipper look of some of the more well-known Japanese restaurants in the 'hood. It looks like any other run of the mill, old school Japanese restaurant, but don't let outward appearances fool you. The food here is amazing. The fish is always fresh, served promptly, and the wait staff is nicer than you could ask for. But the main draw for me? The salmon special roll! Amazing! I have it once every week now, and I usually don't like ordering the same things. It's a salmon roll with avocado, but then wait! There's some kani salad on top mixed with spicy salmon, a little bit of lettuce shreds for texture, and roe. I've gotten into the habit of eating the kani first, which for some reason is a party in your mouth, and then the roll. It is yummy! If you're a salmon fan, and a fan of kani salad, you can't go wrong. AND the prices are just right! I am so happy I decided to walk into this place on my way home from salsa one night. One of the best finds in the neighborhood.

Ordered here for the first time tonight. Really liked my maki combo--the salmon and tuna was very fresh. Service is fast and friendly. Pretty cheap as well--I am definitely going to check out the lunch specials one of these days. Three rolls, salad, and soup for less than $10!

this is just right around the corner of my apartment so i hit it up for a quick dinner. i got the dinner meal which includes miso soup, salad, shrimp dumplings, california rolls and your choice of 2 entrees (i had sashimi and chicken teriyaki).
koto gives you a lot of food, so they get 2 stars automatically. unfortunately, the shrimp dumplings were some of the worst i've had. they were made of shrimp paste and the wrap was paper thin. the chicken teriyaki was mediocre. i like my chicken marinated and this version however was strips of chicken breast drizzled with teriyaki sauce. that's disappointing.
i give koto another star for great take out packing. i'd prolly go back for just the sushi. the staff is friendly and attentive. -
