My friends and I have been going to Korea house for years. The food has always been amazing, but under the new management, we were shocked, yes SHOCKED, at the amazing service we received. The waitstaff was very attentive and accommodating. We ordered the Kal bi (short ribs), bol go gi (beef), chicken, and dol sot bap. They were always there to refill our tea and refresh our side dishes. They brought lots of personality, and homestyle feel. We felt very much at home at the new Korea House.
Thanks ladies, we'll be sure to come back soon.
My family and I have been here a few times over the past few years, for both the lunch buffet and the dinner service.
For lunch buffet, I haven't been to it since I guess they had a new ownership, but I expected to have the same stuff as they usually do which is pretty cheap for good, filling food.
For dinner, we just had dinner recently with the new waitresses which the staff was VERY friendly and attentive to us! We're a family of four, so we've always get the 2-person dinner special (includes one fish dish, one meat dish, and one soup dish) and one entree which was more than enough to fill us up with all the extra side dishes! It was about $13-$15 per person including tax and time, and always free refills on the small side dishes! My favorites are the kimchi, sweet potato, pickled radish and the season roasted seaweeds (which always seem rare to get at other korean restaurants!)
This review is primarily based on lunch.
When I'm feeling like Korean food, I would usually head over to Korean BBQ Palace, but it can get a little pricey. My best friend recommended a cheaper alternative, so we ate there for lunch. My first impression of this place was hilarious. I laughed at their lunch buffet set up, but soon after, I took it back. You help yourself to a bento box and pick whatever you want to eat. The sushi was ok, but no complaints. The pickled lettuce salad was very good as was the noodles. The fried chicken was the best. Fortunately, I was able to experience it when it came fresh to the buffet table. The quality of the chicken and love put into cooking this made it a smash hit at my table. The beef short ribs was delicious with "fall of the bone" goodness. You can eat all this for just $9! You can't find this deal anywhere else.
I only wished they had fried rice in addition to the steamed rice they are offering now. Don't get me wrong, I love steamed rice, but I eat it all the time at home, and fried rice, in my opinion, is a better accompaniment to these wonderful dishes. My best friend said they changed ownership...and for that, they are off to a great start.
I will definitely be back!
I'm not usually a buffet fan because food's usually bland anywhere I go, but theirs is delicious and affordable. The Kalbi and pickled cucumbers are my favorite!
For dinner, the prices are more expensive but worth it! Customer Service not bad at all, either. We always get one of the tofu hot pot soup, Dolsot Bibimbap, and Kalbi.
Place is awesome for a cheap Korean Buffet. The price on the lunch buffet's sky rocketed. But at least they modernized everything + hired cutie korean waitresses. Rrrr. Been eatin here with the homies for birthdays and routine after church muchin circa 8th grade.
Tasty MSG covered buffet items with asian Escorts with their white companions everywhere. This place is awesomeeeee. ( no sarcasm intended)
Changed owners again? Coordinated BCBG inspired ruffled tops?
There use to be more panchan selection (small anchovies, napa cabbage, sweet potato, and even chicken wings!)
Panchan was pretty good and I was surprised by the pretty decent "korean" service. They came by our table a few times to ask us if we wanted refills.

Now I know why I don't like this place as much:
Dried Kalbi - not juicy.
Tofu soup - it's slices of… Read more »
My family took me here for dinner because we planned on getting some Korean BBQ catered. They initially sat the four of us at a regular table, but they moved us to a larger table to accommodate us. How nice of them!
First thing I noticed when reading the dinner menu: everything is so expensive! $16.95 for short ribs? But considering how much food you get with each order, it's a good idea to share. Ordered the dae ji bulgogi (spicy pork), kalbi (short ribs), and my dad got an order of bi bim bap. All the meat was flavorful and fairly tender. Banchan selection was pretty big.
Overall, nothing special about this place. I'm sure the lunch special is a better deal than dinner.
Summary: 3/5 stars
+Waited all of 2 minutes for food to come out
+Good food, good meat...
-Waitresses never checked on us
Honestly, you cant really beat the 9 dollar lunch buffet!
i love love love the fried chicken, so even if you miss it during lunch, order it for dinner and add on some light korean beer. so so satisfying.
the seafood pah jun is so good. i could just eat that alone for dinner.
soon doobu :) need i say more. bubbly, spicy, silky.
OH YES and it has definetly changed ownership. new plates, new workers, new korea house.
Can't believe I hadn't reviewed this yet. Me and my co-workers have been going to this spot for awhile now. I went there today and just learned that they have no owners. I'm not sure when this change happened but it hasn't affected the buffet. Sure the set up is a tad different, but the food quality is as delicious as ever...maybe better. I haven't eaten here outside of the lunch buffet so I can't comment on that. I usually get the salad, tofu, rice, sushi, and of course the short ribs. Everything is so good. I usually go back for seconds, sometimes thirds if I'm feeling it. The short ribs seem to have had more meat on them than they usually do. Another plus...one of the new employees there is pretty cute!
This place used to be one of my friends and family's favorite Korean joints. Whether it was for the lunch buffet or for dinner. Now, since the change of ownership, things have gone downhill to a point I don't ever want to go there again. What a waste.
Everything is deep fried and doesn't taste so good at all. The choices are limited to fried chicken, beef bones and the worst sushi I ever tasted. Yakky.
It's overpriced for the food they offer. Will never visit this place again.
This place has VERY sucky service. One of the few guys that work there has a really bad attitude and gave my cousin attitude when we asked for take-out.
What had happened was that my cousin and I ate there for their lunch buffet and thought she would get some take-out buffet (which is weird but it does happen at some places) for her boyfriend back at the house. They told us we had to pay for one more person which was okay. They gave us a take out box and said "You have to tell us what you want and we'll give you the portions" IN A VERY MEAN WAY. So she said okay, fine and went to the buffet. She asked for the sushi, which was by the way low quality, and they said you can't take sushi for take-out only the simple stuff.
REALLY?! You're going to pay a full price for a buffet take - out that isn't even worth the real price. Wow, so I don't love this place anymore.
By the way watch out for the cockroaches. =)
One of my favorite Korean restaurants. Don't know what else to say..just YUM=]
I can only comment on the lunch buffet here because I've never been for regular dining but this place is good...for the price. $10 for all you can eat korean bbq, chicken, side dishes, small variety of sushi. For around $20 a person, not bad at all!
I wouldn't say the food here is necessarily good though, just average. The chicken and beef were a bit on the oily side. Can't say that I was a fan. Service was alright. Didn't come in expecting much so I wasn't let down or anything. This place gets packed though! So try to come before 12 to meet the lunch rush. I would come back here again if someone was treating or wanted to go but it would not be my first choice.
I'll probably never come back... its ok.. cheap and filling.
Been to the place several times. The place is good in terms of food. I had dinner there several times and tried the lunch buffet once.
Lunch buffet, not a huge selection, but it's okay. The one thing i kept going back for is the vegetable noodle dish that I am addicted to. The line can get pretty long for the buffet, the place isn't big at all, so the line can go winding around the joint, making moving around kind of a pain.
Dinner is good. They take your order for the entrees, than come back with a tray full of little dishes of appetizers like fish cakes, kim chee, potatoes in some kind of sauce, dried seaweed, a crunchy-spiced cucumber dish, and etc. The entrees are pretty good. My family usually orders the oysters cook into eggs (which gets a bit mushy, but I don't mind it) sweet and tarty squid (a bit chewy), the chicken and beef hot platters with lettuce and peanut sauce (yum!) and a seafood or meat rice bowls ( comes in big black pots where you mixed the sauce in before you eat). I love it, the one quirky thing i don't like about the place, and i guess about korean culture, is that they put the hot rice in metal bowls, so sometimes the thing is too hot to hold. But that's just me.
The service in the place used to be better. They use to be owned by this one korean lady who would greet you very warmly and always checked on you during the meal. She even gave us a lesson on eating where instead of using chopsticks to eat the rice, just take a piece of seaweed, pick up some meat with it, and pick up some rice with it and you got yourself an improvised rice roll.
Now that management has changed, the waitress didn't check up on us at all as much. Last time we were there, they tucked us into the backroom they have and no one checked on us the whole meal.
The prices of the entrees are a bit pricey. Somewhere in the $20-30 range, but they soften the blow by offering all the little dishes and such.
I've been coming here since I was 5 years old (I'm 23 now, so that would be 18 years of experience). The food is still good, but the service has definitely changed. My parents knew the original owners and they were good friends. Ever since the new owners took over things haven't really been the same. My favorite items are the rice noodles, the tempura carrots, and the california rolls.
Go for the lunch buffet! All you can eat for around $8. A little pricey, but the food is worth it.
Food: Decent value lunch buffet (7 days a week) at $9.95
Service: Spotty, but just wave them down
Price: Good value.
I was craving Korean food for lunch so went back to Korea House for the first time since moving to the bay.
My finer-tuned tastebuds were a little disappointed. We did the lunch buffet. The kalbi was a little bland (maybe I should've waited for the hot, fresh batch), the chop chae ok but lacking depth (just onions, no veggies at all) and the seaweed salad thrown together.
The stars of that buffet are actually (interesting enough), the fried chicken (tender!) and the fish cake/daikon soup.
Tip: That red-kool-aid like drink is WAYY too sweet.
Palace is way more expensive, but you can definitely taste the difference!
It's so great to be up in the bay...now time to grub. My homie Aldouse suggested Korea House. I'm always down for some Korean. My bf and I met him and his friend Khang up at the restaurant.
We ordered I believe Dinner D or something...I do not remember...but i do know that the food fed the 4 of us. The food just kept coooming. It surrounded our whole table. It was just great. Everything was pretty good especially the spicy octopus. The hot pot was delicious as well. The homies ordered the beer. My bf ordered a green tea BUT they only had arizona green tea...uhmmm. I guess they don't have hot tea here.
Overall, along with great company came great food, service was decent (they did take our group photo), the price wasn't too bad if we splitted it into 4 people...but my buddy AR paid for it...THANKS :) i got him when he comes down to daygo. anyways. I give this place a solid 4 STARS.
Till next time-- I want to try Thai food up there.
I like this place because of their generous side servings. They consistently give the same things... and a lot of it! For Korean food, I've always gone to the one down the road called "Korea BBQ" (I'm not sure if that's the exact name of the restaurant but I can't seem to find any other sign) but have recently been introduced to this place by my neighbors.
I always end up ordering too much because my eyes are always bigger than my stomach. On the bright side, I always have left overs to take home and eat for days. The people who work here are always so nice and I always get noodles on the house :)
This place has completely gone downhill in the past couple years, probably due to new ownership. It seemed noticeably different around 2005? As someone else noted, there was a time when you'd have to wait in a line that went out the door for a seat.
The food is not as good (especially the side dishes), portions are smaller, prices significantly higher, and the service is not as friendly (attitude if you ask for side dish refills). Really disappointing.
My family and I usually come on a weekday at one o' clock for lunch. I think this is the best time because all the workers on their lunch break leave the restaurant, so there's no wait. The place isn't big, so I suggest coming around this time if you don't want to wait.
For about $10.00 per person and $6.00 for my kid sister, it was pretty decent. There wasn't a crazy selection of food in their little buffet, but everything was a little better than good. The fish was the right amont of saltiness (according to my mom), the kimchi was "freakkin amazing," said my sister, and me? The ribs. MMM. There was a lot of fat on it though..but once you tear all those bits off, it's good to go.
I think I'm gonna try their dinner menu next time with my friend :)
Best korean chicken, beef and fish.
Food is never disappointing although service can be slow and the wait can reach a solid 45minutes to an hour on Friday and Saturday nights.
Prices are fair for the amount of food.
I would recommend getting take-out to avoid the lines.
4.5 Stars
I jumped in my friend's car yesterday and said, "I'm in the mood for Korean food." She said, "OK", and started driving. I asked, "You know where we're going right"? She looked at me and said, "Yeah, I know you too well, Korea House of coure, where else"? So far, this is my favorite Korean restaurant. I love the small dishes that they serve before my entree. We always order a dishes from the BBQ section and a hot clay pot or the stone rice seafood. I love wrapping the BBQ meat with the piece of salad and dipping it into the sauce, yummy.... I also like the stone rice. It's soft and crunchy at the same time. They always fulfill my requests at all times, even when it's super busy. I give this place a 4.5.
I went here with my fiance a couple days ago because we wanted to try some place new, but they were closed so we ended up here. I would give this place a 3.5 stars only because it was around 3 in the afternoon, and it was practically empty.
The service was good, but we came in when they were going to have their lunch/dinner. The side dishes is good, including the other food we ordered. The spicy beef soup or something, was okay, wasn't good to fit my taste much. But I heard from others that it used to be better also.

For the lunch buffet, just a tick under $10, it's a good value. But because the variety of foods are very very greasy and since the Kalbi is the only hot, unfried option, it gets three stars.
There's tuna and salmon nigiri, and tasty salads as well, though the only veggie in the salads are lettuce.
However, it is a fast and efficient way to stuff your face at lunch with tasty Korean food.
i had both lunch and dinner there...um...it is a OK.
lunch time is buffet, pretty pack...foods are ok, but not too many choices. dinner is not cheap...but their small dishes are pretty good. couple of my friends love this place, but it is just a average korean food restaurant for me. so i have nth much to say about it.
but i guess it is not bad at all.
come on guys... 3.5 stars? This is one of those moments when I am disappointed at yelp rating system...
Korean food must be rated by Koreans only. lol j/k. But seriously, Korean people do not eat here. I know it's cheap and what not but this stuff is crap guys.
I am ashamed to even call this "Korean" food. Take it from a Korean guy, avoid this place.
I went here for my friend's birthday recently and I wasn't a big fan of the food. Particularly, the cold dishes they serve in the beginning before your entrees. I had chicken and rice. My boyfriend had the fried tofu and I found myself wanting to eat more of his than mine. There was 5 of us dining this night, and our waitress avoided coming to our table. I think it's because someone was constantly asking for something when she came to check on us, but oh well. The food wasn't good enough for me to return, unless it's a birthday choice again for one of my friends.
I did, however, love the wine I was drinking.
Came here for the all you can eat lunch special. While it wasn't amazing, you really can't complain either given the cost of the food. There was a good variety of stuff. Just be careful how much you eat, as food coma is often the aftermath! I'd come again on a very hungry day. The meat is by no means the best quality, but not bad either.
Huge variety of banchan (small side dishes). But not as excellent as a couple of years ago before the owner changed. Wish they would make a conscious effort to make it as good as it was.
It's been a long long time, but I finally came back to Korea House. Ordered one dish between two people again. The scary woman who gave us dirty looks for it was still there, and she tried to do it again. However, there was another waiter this time who was much nicer.
This time was as good as the first time I came. So now I donno what to think. Is Korea House on the mend?

I'm definitely no Korean food connoisseur but I know when stuff tastes good. Last night, we went with the 6-person dinner...and I'm still full!
One of the best parts about this place is the great variety of side dishes that come with your meal. They're like a meal in itself so sometimes it doesn't hurt to order light..unless you're really deprived of Korean goodness like I usually am. :)
The lunch buffet is a pretty good deal, even in Korean terms. It's all a bunch of "fast food" items that most non-Koreans enjoy. If you love fast food as much as I do and you love Korean food, then Korea House is the place for you.
Excuse me while I continue to digest...
I've been here once for dinner, but the lunch buffet on several occasions. I last visited Korea House this past Tuesday, and as expected the same consistent taste. I really like the spicy tofu and the pickled daikon. The short ribs are okay, it's a little on the fatty side. I mainly go here for the side dishes, I heart the spices!
If your budget is under $10 dollars for lunch and your tummy is screaming feed me, this is your spot. When you are done grubbing, as you exit the door you will here the ladies say "Thank you, see you tomorrow"... hahaha....
OK food, not OK service!
If you're in need of unlimited food, then go here becuz they have lunch buffet for about 9 bucks + tax.
I definately prefer to go for dinner here over buffet lunch.
4 stars for dinner, 2 stars for lunch.
I love the spicy pork and the best part is, all the sides that they provide. Sides are mostly vegis so I feel like I'm eating a balanced meal :)
We came to eat here on Christmas night. It wasn't packed like how it was at Palace Buffet and we've eaten here plenty of times before and it hits the spot.
The sides are usually very good. This last time though some of the sides were a bit salty for my taste. We had the galbi, beef soup and tempura veggies & squid. The galbi wasn't juicy as I liked it but we ate it anyway. The squid and veggies were a bit pricey but delish.
The service was OK. The waiter kept forgetting what we were asking for and there were times where my husband had to go get the items we needed himself.
After having Korean food in LA... it might be hard to please us going to the Korean restaurants in the bay area. We'd go again but not in the near future.
Alvin O. knows that I'm always craving Korean food. So just last week, the bastard calls me up and says, "Hey, I'm in San Jose. What's the name of that Korean place we used to go to?" Yea! I know.. only bastard friends drive a hundred miles away to satisfy YOUR craving WITHOUT you. Gosh..
So while everyone comes here for lunch, we usually grub at dinner time. Standouts include the Soon Dubu, Pajeon, Jap Chae, Chicken Bulgogi, and of course Kalbi. But after ordering all these delicious dishes, I always end up eating more of the Panchan than anything. Which by the way, rivals the variety of the best LA K-Town restaurants. Including my favorites, Odeng and Oi Kimchi :)
The prices are more than reasonable and since entrees are served family style, everyone can order something different and there are always leftovers to take home. My only critique of Korea House is the service. After you get your food, it's pretty difficult to get the waitstaff's attention for drink refills or other requests. But this isn't a huge deal, especially since we're usually too busy stuffing our faces. I mean, who really needs water? We've got Korean food! Yumm, so Kimchi-y..
[ Hey Alvin O., I'm still mad at you. But DD next weekend and we'll call it even :) ]
My Ratings:
Quality of Food - 5 Stars
Quantity of Food - 5 Stars
Price - 5 Stars
Location - 4 Stars

Service - 3 Stars
Speed - 4 Stars
My Opinion/Story:
My husband and I tried this place because we see alot of people eating here. Glad we did because they give you water right away and a pitcher of it too. They give you those little dishes and they give alot. There's alot of selection too. Food is tasty and affordable. Service is ok esp when they get too busy and it's hard to get their attention. But I've taken my family here so many times and they always love eating their food. They can't get enough of their fish dish. So I'll keep going back to this place for years to come.
I hardly give places 5 stars and I give this place 5 stars because currently it's my favorite Korean joint. I've been here several times in the past few months with different people for dinner and from all the Korean places I've been to, I've enjoyed the food here most. I think they also have the largest variety of ban chan and I like most of them. This is because they have a lunch Buffet and the ban chan is what they have leftover from that. I haven't tried a lot of different things on the menu here but the everything I have tried, I've liked.
The food here is pretty standard for a Korean place and the waitresses are very nice. They always bring you a pitcher of water, which is greatly appreciated for those of us who find eating food that smells spicy a challenge. I have taken different friends here and my family also to try and it's definitely at the top of my list right now for Korean restaurants.
