Good food and friendly service.

I called ahead to make sure we didn't need a reservation (I was part of a small group of 3).  They told us we could just show up.  We sat at one of the BBQ tables and ordered the BBQ Beef and the BBQ Pork.  Side dishes came out immediately, and the marinated meet a few minutes after.  Meat was very flavorful and the side dishes were good.  Good kimchi and daikon.

Service was fast and very friendly - gregarious, in fact.  I'm still somewhat new to the Korean BBQ thing but enjoyed it.  Only potential drawback - it's not cheap.  $66 plus tip for 3 of us, so it's somewhere between a bargain and a fancy dinner.  So, maybe for special occasions only?

Lent's over. It's Easter Sunday. And dag nabbit, I'm eating RICE today cause I chose to give it up for 40 freakin days... and I'm glad I got to celebrate this special occasion at Korea House.

Service is a hit or miss, but the food has always been at a constant: yummo-licious. I love all of the small dishes that they bring out: seawood salad, kim chee, pickled radish.. you know, the typical Korean stuff, but 10 times better. I also love how my Kal-Bi dish always comes out SIZZZZZZZLLINNGG HOT! One thing that IS a lil odd... is that every time I ask for a knife, they always give me a pair of scissors. Like it kinda makes me wanna bust out with my Scrapbook kit; although, those scissors work GREAT while cutting kal bi. It's easy, fast, but still.... kinda weird.

Overall, this is a great place for some Korean BBQ, and I always make sure that I find some time for Korea House when I'm in Sac-town.

It was like an awkward setup that your friends think will work.  There was nothing glaringly wrong, but just a bunch of things in aggregate, so it didn't click.

My friend and his family took me here thinking I'd like it.  First off, it was a hot day in Sac.  And it was a hot day in the restaurant.  They had the ceiling fans going, but no a/c, so it was hot and humid in the restaurant.  I was sweating profusely before we even got any food.

I had the dinner combo (fried calamari, don katsu, bbq pork).  The pork was okay, the fried calamari and  don katsu were drowning in sauce.  bleh.  Some people might like it, but I'm not really a sauce guy.  My friend and his family ordered the bbq ribs and the bbq chicken.  They seemed to like their orders well enough.

Service was energetic if a bit strange.  I don't think their English is very good.  They came with water and asked if we wanted water.  We said yes.  They took the water away without giving us any.  We asked for a fork.  They nodded yes and then just walked away until we asked again and made an eating motion with a fork.

I feel bad cuz my friends like this place, but I didn't really care for it.  I pretended it was okay so as not to hurt their feelings, but I'll never come calling again.

Sorry Korea House, you seem real nice, but we just don't click.  Sorry, it's not you, it's me...no, wait...it's definitely you.

I currently live in San Francisco, but am originally from Folsom. Long, long ago, my family and I had resolved to having to leave Folsom's bubble for good Asian eats. Now that I'm living in SF, great dim sum and inventive sushi is literally around the corner from me, but Korea House still holds a special place in my heart.

Out of all the ton katsu I've had in the City, none come close to the ton katsu here. My brother and sister love their sesame chicken, and probably haven't ordered anything different here since 1999. My dad usually gets sashimi (he's pretty picky), and my mom is the adventurous one, usually just randomly selecting her order. The little appetizers are pretty typical fare, but I LOVE the cucumber kimchi.

The place IS different than when we first started coming, but I still love it the same. The service always makes me feel welcome, and in most small Asian places, personalization isn't really something you expect.

Side note: On trips home, my dad and I always stop for lunch here, and when one day my dad came in without me, the owner started asking about my absence.

When I recommend this place to people less familiar with the area, I tell them: You go straight down Bradshaw, and keep going over the train tracks. There's a "shopping center" on the right, and once you pull in, you'll feel like you're about to get shot. Keep going, all the way to an ill-placed corner, and there, you've found it!" There's a karaoke bar and a beauty shop for black ladies next door.

Sure, seems a bit sketchy, but when you grow up a minority in Folsom, you learn that clean, safe-looking ethnic eateries taste just how a place like Korea House looks.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!

I went to this place with my family last month at 6:30pm. There was no customer in the restaurant except us. But we got treated with extremely bad service. The server was a greedy old women in her 50s. She was also a racist.  As we entered the restaurant, she was speaking rudely in her broken English. We ordered 3 BBQ dishes with 1 bowl of soup. But it took her 30 mins to start serving the food. Since we all ordered water, she even spilled some of the water on the table and it got splashed to my mom's clothes. But she did not say or show any apology. Therefore, my family was very unhappy for receiving this kind of service. WE WILL NEVER ENTER THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN AND WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANTS TO ANYBODY.  If you would like to have korean foods, there are still a lot of korean restaurants out there on folsom blvd with better dishes and the better service for approximately the same price such as Oz.

4 stars for great service...they're really excited to have you there.

The Bulgogi was less than average (kinda bland).

Side dishes were as expected. They give you what they should.

Ugh. If you're korean you won't like this place that much. They used to be fantastic, but in the last few years the cook changed and the food is just subpar. Their only saving grace are their soups. don't bother ordering the bulgogee or galbi. It's barely marinated. If you want some korean ribs, go over to oz. My friend's cousin owns the joint but I can't in good conscience recommend this place.

Fantastic place to eat Korean food.  My whole family have been going here since i have remember, like 1998.  With my father having been to Korea before, he knew what real Korean food tasted like that this place has to offer.  The staff has always been very kind to us over the years.  The usual food order we would always get is the bolgogi (BBQ beef), fried calamari and the fried pot stickers, theee best!

Highly Recommend this place for good Korean food.

So where do you go to eat Korean food? Oh, well, what do you know??! KOREA HOUSE BABY! Ok, more like 4.5 stars because, it would have had 5 only if it was so damn far.

I always order the same dish every time I go to a Korean joint: The Tofu-Kimchee With Pork. Now, I do love the BBQ, those things are great, it just doesn't give as much pizazz as the Tofu-Kimchee With Pork. Sarangbang by far, has the best presentation and taste, but, their bad service shadows them for good. At Hanbat Gomtang, it looks ok, not as appealing, and not as tasty. As for Korea House well...the dish is a secret on the menu.

HAHA the first time I wanted to order that dish at Korea House I couldn't find it on the menu. I don't know whyyyy its not labeled in english but instead I had to ask the person taking our order where it was at. The second time around ordering it, the lady taking order asked me "You know what that is??!! Do you speak Korean?" LOL

Their Version of the Tofu-Kimchee with pork is just barely at the bar with Sarang Bang. Although it is a bit soggy, its still holds that great taste. YUM!

SERVICE is good. They always come back to ask how we are, and, fill out cups with water! That's a BIG +++ when you're eating spicy food!

Korea House, you have now reached my favorite list of Korean Joints in Sacramento. So sorry sarangbang, try having better service next time.

This place is interestingly place in a dingy corner between two bars.
Very difficult to find; however, I personally like this place a lot.
I have been here several times.
The food selection is really good, lots to try and choose from.
I always have a hard time looking for what I want because there are so much to choose from. Well, most of the items are more family oriented so you would share with everyone on the table. Also, they have a small selection of Japanese and Chinese food (the easy ones). The food has is tasty to a certain extent, not mind blowing (well, depending what you get). The price is fairly high in my opinion, a lot of items are over $10 but its understandable for it being its BBQ food.
Also,  before you get your food, they give you 10 snacks ranging from kimChi, Sweet potatoe, and other good items (see pictures); Most of the items are good, the sweet potatoe is good. (One time it was nasty). The food normally comes out fast, like in 15 mins. We ordered about 5 dishes: soup (~10), ribs(~15), rice cake(~10), calamari (~10), 3 meat combo (beef, chicken, pork, ~15), totaling $66+ tip. All dishes, and snacks over filled the table. There was no more room for anything, literally.
The service is pretty good here in my opinion.
The lady clerk was nice in answering our questions about things and didn't hesitate to recommend things. The restaurant has been empty most of the times I went here. Normally, 4-6 sets of customers in here. The ambiance is okay here, nice decor, organized. The parking is in a pretty decent size, had no trouble.

The thing I like is that they have a grill for the customers to cook there food (I haven't tried it yet, see pictures).

I would highly recommend this place to try.

Pros:
Short Spare Ribs is sizzling
Service
Food is fast
Snacks =)
Fresh Meat on Grill
Parking

Cons:
Location seems bad
a little pricey

Neutral:
Kinda hard to spot

Notes:
Mandoo = Gouza = Potsticker.... LOL

Food was delicious -- we ordered family style and shared everything, which included BBQ Short Ribs, BBQ Beef, BBQ Pork, Jap-Chae, Soft tofu in Hot Spicy Soup.. I know we ordered more, but I can't remember everything off the top of my head.  Everything comes with a number of Korean side-dishes (Kim-chi, daikon, etc.) as well, so lots of food comes to the table.  In a group of six (but only five of us paid, as we were treating the birthday boy), it came out to $20/person including tax and tip.  The woman who runs the restaurant was also very helpful when we were ordering.

Geez, where do I start with this place?  First off, the restaurant is located in the back of a dim, drab, and uninviting shopping center.  We actually drove past it because we did not realize that it was located in the back and from the street you can't see it...so if you decide to venture out and try this place, make sure you drive into the shopping center.

We went around 8:30pm and when we walked in there was only one other customer dining in the restaurant.  The service was not bad until I heard the cook ask the waitress if she should make another dish for us as a "service" and the waitress actually said no.  Obviously, they were speaking Korean and they didn't know I was Korean but it really sucked to hear that they lady actually said no.  Mind you there were no other customers in the restaurant and there were 4 of us in the party and we ordered at least $65 worth of food.

As for the food, here is what we ordered....
-  fried mandoo (Korean pot stickers) - okay, but a bit oily
-  pa jun (green onion Korean style pancake) - pretty decent
-  kalbi (marinated bbq beef) - worst kalbi I've had, it was bland
-  kimchee chigae (kimchee soup) - OMG, this was SOOOO terrible, it was the WORST I've ever had in my life...not only was it lacking in flavor, there was hardly any kimchee in a dish called kimchee chigae.

Although it sucked that the waitress thought I didn't know Korean the one and only reason I would not go back to this restaurant is simply because the food was BAD!!!

Based on other reviews saying that this place is the best Korean restaurant in Sacramento....either they have never tried good Korean food or I won't be eating Korean food for the remainder of my stay in Sacramento.

Finally a Korean restaurant that has good service and good food.
Unlike Sarangbang (good food HORRIBLE SERVICE) or
HanBat (BAD FOOD great service).

I would recommend this place to anyone.

Long live Korea House!

PS. Try the kimchee chige, kalbi, and these egg/green onion/flour snacks..  i dont know the name of the snacks but they are sooo good.

When my family first moved here from San Francisco, this was the first place we ate at. I know it has changed some and like everything else, the prices are going to go up. The food is always very good and I cant stop eating the kalbi once I start eating. There is no need to order appetizers since they bring out the traditional Korean side dishes. Its always very good and I prefer this place over the more Americanized and expensive, O-Z. Peace!

I have to say that this is one of the best Korean places in the Sacramento area. But I also must mention that... being one of the best Korean places in Sacramento doesn't mean that the food is great. The food is decent, but really nothing to write home about. They are also quite expensive.

If you are ever in the SF area, my suggestion is to go to Brothers and see what a real Korean restaurant tastes like.

I haven't met a Korean restaurant I didn't like...  Not really, I didn't like Koreana Kitchen in Walnut Creek, but, technically, it was not a REAL Korean restaurant!. (See previous reviews...)

From Watt Avenue to Bradshaw Road on Highway 50 in Sacramento, the epicureal public has as much diversity of dining choices in this segment of town than anywhere I've seen! And one of the most numerous ethnic categories is Korean Cuisine in this area. Walnut Creek should be so fortunate!

Korea House is located on the NorthEast corner of Bradshaw Road and Folsom Boulevard in a small seedy strip mall. You would not know there was a Korean restaurant inhabiting this mall unless you were looking for it. The whole mall is dark and drab and uninviting. On Friday or Saturday nights you will be competing for the limited amount of parking with the customers of a low-life bar directly across from Korea House.

As you enter Korea House, there are semi-private Korean Self-BBQ booths with bench seating at the Front South and East walls, with an exhaust fan over each table. At the center of the restaurant is table seating, with no option of barbecuing. The kitchen is at the rear (North) of the restaurant.

Among Asian Cuisine, Korean Cuisine is probably the most approachable to the Western palate. Koreans, as does the Japanese, love Beef! Unlike some Chinese dishes, there aren't any unusual textures when one starts chomping away. And you will not encounter anything raw, such as in Japanese Cuisine (unless you get invited to a Korean home). American Korean restaurants, in the last decade, have introduced more chicken as a primary meat which makes Korean Cuisine even more attractive to the health-conscious.

What I don't do at Korean BBQs: Barbecue. I don't perform the self-barbecue because I don't want to smell like I've been working in a kitchen all night after eating at a Korean BBQ! I ALWAYS have the chefs BBQ my meats...  ALWAYS. Not a fun guy, right?

What I order:
  Appetizers: NONE.
You will get at least ten side dishes (Banchan) at Korea House.  If
that isn't enough, you're a bigger eater than I am (Don't be afraid to
ask for more!)! Hint: If the side  dish is reddish-orange in color,
most likely that dish will be spicy or hot!
Korea House has introduced Korean "Pancakes" (Gujeolpan) as
an appetizer; this is the only Korean restaurant I know of that has
this dish, which is usually served on very special family occasions.
I have yet to try this here as I know the main dishes along with the
Banchan would be enough for me.
Side Dish: Rice - Koreans like short-grain (sticky) rice.
Bulgogi, Galbi: Marinated (usually 24 hours) beef and beef ribs.
These are probably the most popular and well-known Korean main
dishes. Probably the only variation I've seen from one restaurant to
another is the amount of pepper used in the marinade. This is a
     sweet and addictive dish.
You can also BBQ shrimp (not marinated), chicken, or pork.
  Noodles:
Jap Chae - Korean noodle dish.
  Soup as a meal:
Mandu Guk - Dumplings in noodle soup. VERY GOOD! Whomever
orders this probably will finish sooner than the rest of the table
as the dumplings will disintegrate as they sit in the hot soup.
Kimchi Jiigae - Soup from Kimchi...  HOT! Only in Winter.
Make Your own Fried Rice Meal:
Bim Bim Bab - This dish is served in a HOT stone bowl consisting
of rice topped with vegetables, slivers of meat topped with a dob
of hot sauce and a sunny side up egg. When served you are
supposed to mix the entire contents of the bowl thoroughly; keep
on mixing as you eat because the stone bowl will stay hot for a
LONG time. After stirring your Bim Bim Bab enough... voila!
Korean Fried Rice! And you made it yourself!
Hint: If, by chance, your Bim Bim Bab becomes more rice than
vegetables and meat... Just toss in some Banchan and start
stirring again...  AND, by the way... Keep on Mixing and Stirring...

Warning! You will be spending at virtually any Korean restaurant anywhere from $13 to $17 for the above items. I've lived in Las Vegas and Phoenix the past decade and have tried Korean restaurants in the Bay Area; the prices are similar in those locales. If you want Korean any cheaper, try Koreana Kitchen in Walnut Creek.

For the Lunch-"I can't stay but twenty minutes" or the "D***, it's expensive here!" crowd, there are Lunch Combos that range from $6 to $9 that come in foot square segregated oriental style trays. Never tried those, though.

When you dine at a Korean restaurant, expect your length of stay to be at least an hour and a half (or more).

The service here is attentive and polite; seems like a family run operation. Korea House is as good a Korean restaurant there is in Sacramento!

Stopped here on the way back from Tahoe. The prices here were reasonable (at least compared to the city). Someone in our party noted that there was only one cashier/waitress and two people in the kitchen, which meant the place was understaffed given the size of the restaurant. This was also apparent given the amount of time it took to get our food. It took over half an hour just to get the cold appetizer dishes. The menu was definitely geared towards an American audience.
We ordered the BBQ Short Ribs (Kalbi), BBQ Beef (Bulgogi), BBQ Pork (Daeji Bulgogi), Jap-Chae, Kimchi and Pork Soup, and Green Onion Pancake. Overall, the bbq meat was average. The Kalbi was a little tough and chewy in my opinion. The Japchae was strangely spicy (was confused when they asked how spicy we wanted given that i've never had it spicy) but not in a bad way. It was actually quite tasty. The green onion pancake was a hit as well. Also, the portion sizes were pretty good. Overall, the experience was average.

This place is has great food and if you go there more than once and they get to know you they give you extra side dishes.  The service is great and fast.  It is a little hot in there for me, I think it felt like 78-80 in there and on top of the kimm-chee I felt like I needed an eskimo shower!  Anyways I have been to Thailand and am used to hot food and hot weather, besides the hot women, anyway back to the food.  The kim Chee tofu soup is probably one of the best I have had.  The soup was thick and hot but sweet, and had my nostrils blazing fire!  The food is a little pricey for korean food and should not be that highly priced, I would have ordered more dishes is it was cheaper.  The little side dishes were some of the best I had, summer kimm chee and other things I really dont know what it was but it tasted different and good.  Definitly good food for the digestive track but that is another story...
