Claims to be the toughest golf course in the US from the back tees, having a Slope of 152.  This is a spectacular golf course.  Amazing vistas, nestled next to a dramatic mountain--you don't even have to like golf to enjoy the experience of Ko'olau.  I played the white tees and lost many balls on the front nine.  They have rough that they call "the jungle."  Do not hit your ball into the rough.  You will lose it (your ball and occasionally your mind!).  For serious golfers, this is a course you must play.  It may be maddening, but you will talk about your experience for years to come.  I normally do not give out five stars, but this rating is deserved.  Even the burgers in the restaurant were good!

There's a church and it's activity center connected to the Pro Shop and restaurant.  Little bizarre, but it did remind me that even God can't hit a one iron!

Mare Pacificum (latin for "peaceful sea") known as the Pacific Ocean.  This is the  backdrop amongst the majestic green cliffs.  Makes one so humble around nature .  My friends had asked me to come 2 hours early, a golf pro was hired to yell at me for each hole and had me hitting a bag for 30 minutes prior.  Was my best golf game ever, it was a good day.

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE MTG FACILITIES ONLY.

Attended a retreat here a few wks ago.  They arranged large round tables for 8 providing ample space for flip charts and interactive group exercises.  Our room had ceiling to floor windows that were draped to keep the sun from blinding us or people spying ; )

The only negative comment is that while the room had an enourmously elongated screen, they didn't have a projector mounted to the ceiling.  Therefore, projecting images from a table top was visually challenging for people sitting furthest from the front.

The breakfast food was decent--fresh fruit trays, mini bagels, & assorted mini pastries.  Lunch was a buffet with a white fish in a rich cream & caper sauce or chicken, fresh greens, gnocci, new potatoes or brown rice and a really good tofu dish with olive oil and seasoning.  I don't care for tofu much but this was really good.

This is as hard a course as their is...in the u.s. for sure , if not in the world.  it is a must play for anyone going to oahu who happens to be a golfer.  i have played twice with little or no wait, and cannot wait to play a third time.  absolutely beautiful and challenging as well. the only thing you'll be disssapointed in will be your score.  again, if you are going to oahu, like/appreciate golf......play this course. you can't play the hardest golf course (based on slope) in the u.s. anywhere else other than here! do it!
