Just perfect!

For ~$80 a night (ridiculous!), I was stoked to find this place.  It's a 10-15 min drive from the Kona airport and located in tourist central Kailua-Kona.  Great adjacent restaurant (Tante's) with a perfect view of the water.  Discounts if you're an AAA or AARP member.

As I had read elsewhere, the rooms are basic (bed, tv, ac, fridge, ceiling fan,...). You can request for a microwave if they have one available, and the front desk is very nice and helpful.  Most likely to have a vacation pet that come in the form of ants, green gecko, or beetle, but no biggie.

They also provide:
* 2 pools
* a laundry facility (3 washers/dryers), college dorm style ;)
* daily towel change
* daily bedmake
* vending & ice machines
* parking for $6/d

A bunch of touristy shops, restaurants, shaved-ice huts (one with internet cafe), coffee shops and FARMER'S MARKET in walking distance.  Ali'i Drive has a bunch of pull-over beach stops, popular w/ snorkelers and tanners alike, and green turtle sightings are common!

The landside of Palani St is packed w/ malls, fastfood joints, gas stations, etc. so you're pretty well-equipped.  It's right off of the main highway (19), and half an hour drive to Hapuna beach.  I found it super convenient :)

I'd stay here again.  Very basic, meets my needs.

An average hotel that is kept clean. A couple of pool decks with smallish pools will allow you to soak up the sun and time

Owned and operated by a hawaiian family, thats authentic.  This hotel was part of my package deal for about $600 a person including air n hotel for a 4 night stay.  Fair price and decent hotel, very convenient location.  Walk to Big Island Grill, Splashers Grill, Rapanui, Island Lava Java a lil farther.  Up the street, there's a Walmart (open late),  Starbucks, and even a Macys.   Clean, friendly staff, open air lobby like many hawaiian hotels, pool is decent but who would use that when you have the beach.  Room was a good size with desk, mini fridge, patio.  Good enough, no complaints.  Parking is $6 a night extra, internet is extra.

I  just checked out today from the Kona Seaside Hotel. I had a decent stay at the hotel. Despite what some reviews people had said, my rooms was very maintained and very clean. The Front Desk Staff was decent. The area was great, everything in Kona is within walking distance. Next time I go to Kona, I will not rent a car, maybe a moped for a few days. Kona is a great place to chill in Hawaii, great weather, great prices, and a few beaches that are close.
My only complaint about this hotel is the daytime parking attendant has a serious attitude problem (he reminds me of the soup nazi on Seinfeld). The parking spaces are really small (great for Mini Coopers) and if your car in not exactly centered perfectly he leaves a big note on your window, I actually got 2 in 1 day. Even if your midsize car is perfectly parked you'll have a hard time not opening your car door on someone else's door. They also charge 6 bucks a day for this service. There is a free spot a block away, save the 6 bucks a day!
