Very yummy Persian food!  my ex is persian and we would go here from time to time.  the chicken kebob with zeresk-polo (rice with barberries) is amazing!  and I always have to get a side of maast-o-kiar (the yogurt and cucumber dip) to go with it.  Its a bit pricey, but they have great lunch specials that are a little cheaper!  Nothing is as good as home cooked Persian food, but this comes close.

I recently had a craving for Persian food and decided to check out Kolbeh with a few coworkers. It seemed like a hole in the wall, which usually makes the best dishes.

I got the Zereshk Polo, which consists of a piece of chicken, basmati rice, barbaris, and a salad. Growing up eating Middle Eastern food, I had high standards coming in and I have to say this dish was mediocre at best.

I felt like the entire dish lacked that distinct flavor that makes Persian cuisine so delicious. The rice was pretty bland, and only the barbaris helped add some flavor to it. The chicken, however, was well cooked and fairly delicious. For that price, I wish there was more of it, though.

I should have realized that when a Mexican guy brought out our to-go bags, it wasn't going to be as great as I expected. No offense, but this type of food tends to be the best when people who grew up around it and know the recipes by heart since childhood make it. If you pass it on to Mexican cooks for cheap labor, you ruin the authenticity of it all.

Good food... a little bit on the pricey end when it comes to bottle of wine because they wine is actually a very cheap brand but good. The decor from what I was told by my persian friend he said in Iran it's kind of like this setup.. so that felt authentic.

Either way i recommend the Koobideh :)

I first started out having the dolmeh? and yogurt dip.  Both were good, but the dip also came with half an onion with which I had no idea what to do.

I ended up choosing the chicken kabob which was served with rice. The rice was super super delicious, but the chicken was just ok.  I felt that they over cooked the chicken a little.

Overall, this place was pretty good, a little pricey though.

The food here was pretty good. I especially like the rice. Although I don't know the name of it, I could eat a whole plate of it! I ordered the beef kabob and it had a lot of flavor. I really enjoyed the salad that it came with. It gave the dish some off time from the flavorful beef. I also tried their chicken, and it was good too.

Maybe I'll come back here. I'm gonna try some other Persian restaurants first...

I'm not going to be mean, but I am going to be honest. I have only been here one time. The first and last time, mostly because it just doesn't feel clean in there, and the smell that hit me when I walked in the front door was not a smell I want to be smelling when I'm thinking about eating lunch. Let's just leave it at that.

The food, itself, was mediocre. My boss eats it all the time and swears by it. I recommend ordering the chicken and ONLY the chicken, though, as someone at my table ordered the beef and it looked like, well, see paragraph #1.

Final verdict? There are a lot of other places to eat on Miramar Road. Try one of them out.

Kolbeh is one of my favorite restaurants, because of its unique charm, fun atmosphere, and great food. It's located in a tiny strip mall on Miramar Road, and you wouldn't even know it was there if you weren't looking for it. When you first enter, you are immediately greeted with a smile by one of the owners, who will show you to your table. The decor is cheesy, to be sure... there are mirrors all around, a disco ball and colored lights hanging from the ceiling, Christmas lights adorning the fake plants, gold-framed artwork, and a large sound system / speaker setup taking up almost the entire front wall. But for some reason, it all works, and makes for a fun, relaxed, don't take yourself too seriously kind of environment.

The food here is just delicious and plentiful. My favorite is the Chicken Barg, which is marinated grilled chicken, with rice, flat bread, and a cooked tomato. I've tried several other dishes on the extensive menu as well, and they have all been very good.... but I keep coming back to my favorite, because I like it so much. And all this food comes at a very reasonable price.

Every Sunday night at 7:00 they have a bellydance show, which is the main reason I come here. They crank up that sound system of theirs turn on the light show, and one by one the dancers come out and perform. They typically have five or six dancers performing, but sometimes more for special occasions. And sometimes there will be a live drummer accompanying the music. During the show, there is always entertaining interaction between Paul (the M.C.) and the dancers as well as the restaurant patrons, and sometimes the dancers even get the customers to get up and dance too. And like the restaurant itself, the bellydance show is laid-back and casual, but very fun.

I've been to Kolbeh many times now, and every single time I have had so much fun. Great food and great entertainment at a very reasonable price... can't beat that!

I love absolutely love the food here. I have to eat at lunch here at least once a week! I typically get the chicken kabob lunch special which runs about 8 bux. It comes with rice, salad, flat bread & butter, and 5-6 big juice chunks of charbroiled chicken kabobs.. im getting hungry as we speak!
The customer service isnt no 5 star resturant thats for sure but if you are just looking for good food then we're all to the gooodd :D

Okay, ive only been there once and had the chelo kabob and it was pretty darn good. I ad dinner there with my parents, so it was 3 of us for about 75 bucks, it's pricey for just three adults and no desert. But it was good I can't complain, the place is a bit old school looking for the price you pay, but it taste good. My parents love the place.

this is not  a persian restaurant that i'd recommend.

i got zereshk polo and my boyfriend got something i can't remember the name of. mine was pretty blah. they weren't skimpy with the barberries, but they used WAY too many. the chicken itself was greasy and not too great.

my boyfriend liked the sauce on his chicken, but the chicken itself was very dark, very greasy and full of tiny bones.

they have faloudeh and that's nice. oh, and karaoke, i guess, if you're into that.

I went there for the first time the other day and I got their chicken kabob. It also came with saffron rice and some raw tomatoes and onions. Their chicken was flavorful and very tasty. It took awhile for the food to come as I got a to go order. They served me this black tea as I waited. I would like to come back to try their other plates

Eh. It's just ok as far as Persian food. A bit expensive for what you get though. Service sucks and owner seems very grumpy.

I am a fan of the food, so good, the Zetish Polo is my fave.  Along with the yogurt cucumber dip.. My only problem with this place is the owner.. well I believe they are brothers.. one is fabulous and nice and the other well let's just say he frightens me, and carries a huge cordless phone from 1982 on his belt loop at all times which makes me laugh.. But it doesn't matter the food is what keeps me coming back..

If I could give it more stars I would!! #29 is awesome! Big enough to share. Its a combination of chicken kabob, beef and filet mignon. The chicken is not greasy, doesnt have dark meat and I have never had any BONES. The long grain rice is so light and fluffy. The meat is very tender and flavorful. I go here whenever I can because its the best middle eastern food. It's a quiet place but they have belly dancing around 7 on weekends if you are looking for entertainment. :)

Tasty and authentic. Two large persian families were eating here while I was. I enjoyed my stew #20 and it reminded me of home cooked persian. Not 100% rave, but definitely a good choice.

the food I great! But the service sucks! The owner has a bad attitude always gets the orders wrong n gets angry over tips. The restroom n the kitchen is a nightmare. They need to hire some friendly people cause the is really good.
