Great price, great bento's. awesome delivery if you want to stay in.
I hesitate with stars, we had a reservation for Xmas eve last year, only to show up and they were closed. very disappointing, as we had called ahead to make sure they would be open and could help us celebrate,
we never complained, but gave them another chance,
and that chance will keep us coming.
just be careful when making reservations, they will not call you if they change their plans to stay open. -

Koko Sushi Bar is one of the best Sushi restaurants i have ever been to. My friend discovered Kokos through Grub hub and they delivered to him all the way in Albany Park. Going to the restaurant is a much better experience. The decor is really nice, and the staff is very friendly.
I have been here to eat a couple different times, and my favorite item has been Fire Maki. It is cream cheese, avacado, and a spicy mayo wrapped in a warm white fish. It is one of the most delicious things i have ever eaten.

Sooooo disappointing.
I ordered some rolls and pieces from here in January and it was tasty and the delivery was quick with gorgeous presentation.
This time...not so much...
Well.... the presentation was still fabulous. However, the fish arrived a 1/2 hour after the promised delivery time (which meant an hour and a half wait, and I'm about 1 mile away). The quality of the fish was awful. My yellowtail was fishy tasting, and the two pieces of salmon were completely different colors. Ok...I'll give them the white tuna...I've had better, but it was decent. The maki was boring and bland...even the rice was terrible. I also want to know who decided that bananas belong in an appetizer called vegetable tempura.
In sum, there is waaaaaaaaaay too much good sushi in Chicago to waste your time with this place. -

DELIVERY
The presentation is very pretty, I love how they carved a leaf in the wasabi BUT... the Sushi is Disgusting, never had worse sushi before in my life. BARELY EVEN EDIBLE... WHAT A HUGE WASTE!! Eek! Methinks not! -

I'm a sushi freak, and when I found out I had a sushi joint that delivered to my neighborhood I was ecstatic.
While I will not say the food was bad, it really wasn't, it was just very very bland. I ordered a number of different rolls to see what this place was made of and out of the 4, only 1 was decent.
My cheesecake dessert was the best part of the meal, I'm sad to say. -

Lunch special kicks all sorts of butt. The price is too low for the food you get. I've tried a lot of items on the menu and haven't been disappointed except with the spinach salad which was a little overwhelmed by the dressing. Also, the waitresses are great.

**this review is for delivery only!**
we ordered in sushi and thought we'd try out Koko after reading some decent reviews. the delivery got here in 40 minutes as promised. I picked out the New York and Amber. Really, nothing special. I wasn't blown away. I wasn't completely disappointed. I just thought that it was a little expensive for what it was. I'd pay dolla dolla billz for bomb sushi and this was far from that. ok so it may not be fair to judge because it's DELIVERY, but i've had some amazing delivered sushi in my day... (NIU SUSHI!)
I'll hit up the restaurant itself one of these days and give it a full review.
And that's. that. -

My normal sushi delivery place was closed for Independence Day, and so my lady and I ordered from Koko instead.
My assessment- very underwhelming. The prices at Koko are comparable to other sushi places, but the quality of the food is not.
I got a Bento box which came with miso, sushi, veggie tempura, shrimp tempura and rice. The miso, for some reason, had corn and peas in it. It tasted alright, but the choice of corn and peas seemed strange. The sushi was probably the weakest part of the whole box. The maki rolls were flavorless and bland rather than crisp and clean, and they fell apart to the touch which made eating them tricky. The tempura was the best part of the meal. Both the shrimp and vegetables were delicious and crispy. The rice was- well rice.
Anyway, this place loses almost all points for being a sushi place with lousy sushi, though if you have to get something from here get the tempura. -

I posted this same review on grubhub, and I feel so strongly that I chose to share here, as well.
Looking for a wallet-friendly sushi delivery option, we were ultimately disappointed in Koko. We ended up spending around the same amount of money as for Papajin's delivery, only to receive food of a lower quality.
A few points of interest:
1. The vaguely named "house soup" seemed a harmless (if red) miso. Mussels and miniature octopus were unnecessary and unwelcome guests in a classic staple.
2. Presentation left something to be desired, even for delivery. The Rainbow maki looked thrown together, at best.
3. All maki tasted noticeably fishy. I know sushi is fishy, but this was a bit overboard.
4. The avocado maki was delicious: ripe, voluptuous, well rolled.
Unfortunately, my favorite item we ordered.
5. As far as delivery goes, the service was prompt and the order was complete.
My view: there's no real reason to order from Koko's again. Not bad, but not good, and there's often a slippery slope from mediocrity into the latter , when it comes to sushi. Stick with Papajin. -

I don't know what it is about this place but it's hit or miss. I've had a few good rolls and a few that made me wonder why I wasted my money. So I guess I will say that if you are craving sushi but are too lazy to leave your apartment and have some extra cash, it will do the trick. However, if you're on a budget don't waste your money. You'll be sad.
