Two couples, a toddler, and a hot grill.  This was one of my favorite Korean BBQ experiences.  All the flavors were there, and the wait staff was nice.

The table was a bit small for all the food we had, but that's OK.  A few of my favorite appetizer plates weren't there, but I guess that varies from place to place.  (I was hoping for the little dried fishies).

Overall, I'd totally come here again.

I got the 6 Person dinner special, which included Duk Mundu gook (dumpling soup), Garbi (beef ribs), Pa Gun (pancake), Gob Chey (wormy noodles), Chicken bulgogi, pork bulgogi...It was a ton of food for 6 people and affordable.  Our total bill was $120 including tip.

The duk (rice cakes) in the duk mundo gook were perfect.  Not chewy at all.

Everything was close to perfect except:
1) Garlbi was a bit grissly.  Still tasty just hard to chew.
2) Mundu (dumplings) in the soup fell apart to easily so it was hard to get a real sense of how they tasted on their own.
3) The purple rice (they call it brown rice) was too dry...tasted over 12 hours old.

Staff was great, very welcoming and friendly.

I will definitely be back, but not for the Garlbi.

Decent Korean restaurant and the Korean BBQ is the only thing keeping this from getting 2 stars.

The steam buns are bad in my opinion and I feel like they may be bought frozen.  I've eaten frozen buns that taste almost exactly like those.

The side dishes that accompany the korean BBQ were unimpressive as well.  The korean salad wasn't great, even the house-made kim chee wasn't as good as other places.

The korean bbq was actually pretty decent and I enjoyed it very much.

Service was great at first(because we were on the only people in there) but then once other customers started rolling in, I definitely felt neglected.

The ice water tastes funny. Might be because it's in a crystal plastic cup.

Overall not a bad place and definitely has it's good parts, but since it's kind of far out of my range, I will not be revisiting. Plus, I heard there are better places in Fed Way.

Mouthwatering food, dinky bathroom.
Ordered barbecue dinner for four: five different types of meat, lots of greenery, and all the typical "works".  Three happy tummies for $50.  Excellent service and good exhaust system over the tables, so the clothes/hair were not reaking of food.

Food was alright. I definatley have had better tasting Korean food (O-Bok) but this place wasn't horrible. I felt as if some of the flavors were lacking in its depth. Also, the rice was mushy, something you don't want at a Korean restaurant.

Service was pretty lacking when we were there. Took them awhile for everything and it wasn't that busy. I am used to bigger portions than what they serve. The decor was very nice.

A gang of us (party of 6) headed here for dinner last week. We ordered the combination platter which is said to feed 6. It did not disappoint. The food was really awesome and plentiful. Definitely enough to please our hungry stomachs. The service was a little slow at first (which is my reason for a 4 star and not a 5), but it was a little busy when we got there. The service vastly improved as the crowd started to dwindle.

We will definitely be back!

We were on our way down to Portland on a Friday evening...spending a lovely evening stuck in traffic...when we heard a faint rumbling...a kind of growling, like a baby tiger.  I looked aroudn the car wondering where this peculiar noise was coming from...and then I realized what it was.

MY HUNGRY BELLY.

Uh oh, better get something in there ASAP!  So my hubby goes on Yelp Mobile using his trusty iphone and there we were.  Let me give you a little background of myself.  I'm from LA.  We've only been in the Pacific Northwest about a year.  AND my parents own two restaurants in Koreatown in LA.  So needless to say, I was skeptical about finding authentic Korean fare in the Seattle area.  Or really anywhere outside of Korea and LA.  :P  (I know, I know.  I can be a total snob.)

I was pleasantly surprised.  YAY!  I love it when that happens.  :)  Now I didn't have kbbq or anything like that but the dishes we ordered (yuk-gae-jang, mandoo, bibim nang myun) were definitely on par with what I've had down south in the mecca of Korean cuisine (otherwise know as LA).

We went back another time and once again, we had a very pleasant meal.  This time I tried the su-jae-bi...it was YUUUUUMMY.  Hubby once again got the yuk-gae-jang but he said his tasted a bit too salty this time.

We'll definitely head back here any time we're in the vicinity.  Oh, how I wish we had a Korean restaurant of this quality closer to where we live (in Isssaquah)!

YUM! Okay, so this restaurants was my first Korean BBQ experience, so first and foremost I will say I am not an afficionado of any sort, but oh-so tasty!
We have been back multiple times, and everything has been great! I love the dolsot bibimbop (spelling?), and my husband digs the spicy chicken bbq. We have yet to do our own cooking, (they have half tables where you cook your own, half where they bring it out to you cooked), but hope to do that soon. The staff was so nice and incredibly helpful and describled all the panchan dishes as they bring them out. We thought service was slow the first few times, but then learned that each table has a little button you push to notify your server that you need something. aha!
Now we know!
If you haven't had Korean BBQ, I highly highly recommend this place!

Authentic Korean food with great decor and fabulous service. The first thing you get is a dozen kinds of pickled dished - the panchan - save your appetite because you need those to break up the flavors of the main dishes. I tend to order the beef because I just love that rich barbecue flavor that Korean barbecue has, and with rice and the small dishes you are full before you know it. The staff is polite and courteous, although once your food arrives they tend to leave you alone unless you make a point of getting their attention for something.

If you like Korean food, or have never tried it and want to experience something new, drive down to Kokiri and enjoy!

this is proper korean food and some of the best i've had outside of Seoul or L.A.  very extensive menu--oftentimes Korean restaurants will focus on one aspect of Korean cuisine (bbq, tofu, etc.), which isn't necessarily a bad thing.  so if you want a serious spread that will cover every square inch of your table and have the people in the next booth over gawking at you in envy and horror, this is the place.  i'm a big fan of dumplings, and the Kokiri house dumplings are recommended--light, impossibly fluffy, fresh.

and on a side note, Kokiri translates to "elephant," which i think is adorable.

It's been a while since I have some decent Korean food. I had the steam buns, cold noodles, and the bbq ribs there tonight and everything is good. Also the restaurant is clean and the staff are very friendly. I haven't try everything on the menu yet so I can only give it a 4 star.

For really good Korean food, Take a trip to Federal Way to check out Kokiri Korean Restaurant. I'm a really big fan of this type of food. 5 star power ***** for this place.

Broiled Mackerel with Bibimbap (dolsot style) was perfect together, at least for me that is =)  With all the additional side dishes that came with the meal I was so full.

Dolsot bibimbap ("dolsot" meaning "stone pot") bibimbap literally means "stirred/mixed rice" or "stirred/mixed meal." , is served in a very hot stone bowl. The bowl is so hot that anything that touches it sizzles for minutes. Before the rice is placed in the bowl, the bottom of the bowl is coated with sesame oil, making the layer of the rice touching the bowl golden brown and crispy. Various Vegetables are mixed together with an addition of an egg.

Mirak & Kokiri are the Top 2 players in Federal Way. I'll have to flip a coin everytime I head over here to have some Great Korean food =P

A great restaurant (and finally a decent one that I can write home about). My girlfriend and I visited on a Friday night, not too busy, and the staff was more than welcoming.

We ordered the spicy tofu soup with beef and the dolsot bibimbap - both of which were excellent, although as usual, I liked my girlfriend's dish better so we switched (she never minds either :-). We also chowed down on some vegetarian Korean pancakes and they were as close as you could get to my mother's, but nothing can match my momma's cooking.

The side dishes were fresh and were of typical fare - marinated bean sprouts, sweet potatoes and banchan.

I'd come back for more and recommend it to anyone.

Note: your clothes won't smell when you leave this place, as other restaurants will do.

Kokiri is the Korean restaurant my family goes to all the time when we go out. Most of their foods are really great. Their meat selection is very good and the quality is excellent. The service can get inconsistent (like most korean restaurants) depending the time you come and who is working. It might be a challenge if you're not Korean though, the waitresses will most likely not speak English well enough for you to understand 100%.
The interior is very nice and spacious.
Other than that, it is a fine restaurant.

Great Korean food here.

Lots of parking, good location.

We ordered the bulgolgi, which is marinated beef, very very good.  Everyone got little bowls of rice,   The best thing is all the little sides of 'Banchan', which is different kinds of sides that you get at eating at a Korean restaurant.

I also had the 'Doh Bek Ki',  which is rice cake cooked in hot sauce with fish cake.  It was very hot and a little sweet.  Very Very good.

was craving bibimbap and found this place down south in federal way.  i ordered the dolsot version (served in a very hot stone bowl) because i love how the some of the rice gets a lil' crunchy. it gives it a lil' texture when you mix the whole thing together. be very careful when eating this dish, the bowl doesn't cool down anytime soon so where long sleeves when you eat this. i didn't and got burned. youch!

i love this dish and this is the place to get it if you're craving an authentic bibimbap.  four stars for now because i've yet to try their bbq!!! soon though, soon.

More authentic than a lot of other places.  They have decent naeng-myun.  I usually get hwe naeng myun, but their mul naeng myun is good, too- not too sweet (mul naengmyun isn't supposed to be sweet!)  I liked their ugoji kalbi tang, too, but don't get the sunji- it's dry, flaky, stinky, and gross.

when my band and i played down in federal way for an event, we headed to kokiri for good korean food. alas they were closing when we were going in...disappointing me and putting a craving to try their food in my mouth. that was about a year ago and i still hadn't gone back. (it's fw...i dont make it a point to go there much).

but when my sweet marrieds picked me and d up from seatac, we were all starving and figured korean food would relally hit the spot. one of the pockets in wa that has good korean food, surprisingly, is fw-so we headed there.

kokiri was awesome. we had a meat meal where there were 4 different kinds of marinate. it was 40 bux for that. it came with dang jang jji gae (soybean stew) and then there was the ban chan & rice (with free extra bowls of anything if we wanted it).

i loved their service, it was spot on, the food was great and everything was so clean i actually relaxed.

if you are going to head to fw and want another place to try besides mirak i highly recommend you head over to kokiri.

they rule. like the elephant they are named for. (i know....i lost it there)

I was in the mood for some down-home cooking so me and some of my friends headed over to Kokiri for some korean food.

The restaurant itself was very spacious and has good lighting. They have a HUGE parking lot which made parking easy and painless and the waitresses were friendly and very attentive.

The food was possibly the best thing I have ever eaten. We ordered various dishes and every one of them was superb. I had tofu stew and my friends got kalbi (marinated beef), jap chae (noodles and veggies), and an omu-rice (Fried rice with ketchup and egg).

I don't speak Korean well so I was freaking out over the menu trying to pronounce things but the staff helped me out and was very friendly. Before your main course arrives you get about 10-12 side dishes along with bowls of rice. It was so cool when the waitress came over with a mountain of side dishes. I tried all of them and they were all exotic and tasty.

All the food was hot and freshly prepared and there was nothing I regretted ordering. I even got a second bowl of rice and extra side dishes at no cost! What I didn't know was that you could grill your own meat at the table so now I have a reason to go back!

If you're ever in Federal Way Kokiri is definitley the place to be.

If I could give it 0 stars, I would. Food was good, service was a F- total FAIL! When we walked in, we specifically asked if they take credit cards because we had no cash. When we went to pay, their credit card machine was "broken"..... so my boyfriend had to go to the ATM while I sat at the restaurant as collateral for our dinner. It took us over 30 mins to settle our bill and when I asked the manager if she would give us a discount for the inconvenience, she told me "Its not my fault" Even though the food was good, I would rather eat McDonalds were at least you can get some service.

man, just moved to the area.  i have no idea where to eat.  i stopped by mirak the other night and also found kokiri. (thanks to the 2 that wrote reviews about mirak)  seems like there isn't much here once you leave the strip.  one good thing is the food is pretty consistent in this area.  kokiri is pretty damn good, even when compared to the restaurants in cali.  by far the closest thing to cali korean bbq i've eaten here.  i must say this though, the pajun and kimchi stew are the best i've ever had!  if spicy's not your thing try the pajun at least.  was awesome.  please post more for this zip code ppl!  serious lack of info about federal way.  cheers!
