43600 Mission BlvdI like KOHL - ya know in the mornings, when you dont feel like listening to a corny morning show and lots of blah, blah, blah...
I listen to 89.3 and get to hear music during my morning commute.
They play more variety and not the same old stuff like the other 2 stations (94.9 & 106.1) They play the same stuff over and over..
89.3 throws in some rock and other types of music.
Yeah some may be a bit inexperienced, but you gotta start somewhere. Ya know what I mean?
I miss 89.3 when I'm here in San Diego for college. They have a good mix of pretty much everything, which is a nice break from the constant rap from 106.1 and 94.9.
I have this radio station preset and I always wondered why it only worked in Fremont. But now I know! They do play a good mix of stuff; rock, r&b, hip hop, etc. It's nice to not have to continue switching stations to listen to other music. However once I'm out of Fremont, I have to switch stations anyway.
great radio station, djs are sort of inexperienced and not as funny as the 949 or 106 ones but they play some great music and give away great prizes, I've won twice. Good station! 5 stars, keep up the good work
One of my favorite radio stations in the Bay Area. I found out about KOHL after Z95.7 disappeared. Gotta love the Top 40 hits on the radio!
woohoo for 89.3! I love that they play top 40 music. Whenever i need a break from all the hip hop and r&b and rap of 106 and 949, i turn to 89.3. They play a lot of the great top music. And I actually like the fact that it's run by students. It's cool knowing that Ohlone provides a great radio station for students who are trying to work towards possibly doing this as a job in the future. They get to have firsthand experience with being a DJ. And, it's a really good radio station compared to other college stations.

YES! The coolest thing about Ohlone College is that they have their own radio station. They play a lot of mainstream music but at least its a mix of hip-hop, alternative, and pop. I would never have never jammed to Jessica Simpson or Nickelback if it wasn't for KOHL.
The DJs are cheesy but its b/c they're interns or drama geeks.

The great thing about KOHL is that it is top-40 and plays a diverse mix of music.
The bad thing is it's a college station so some of the DJs suck eggs!

'Tis the season of giving and taking.
Give me the newest hottest group, song or artist.
KOHL gives it to me.
Give me traffic and weather reports in the morning.
KOHL gives it to me.
Give me few commercials.
KOHL gives it to me.
Give me less talk.
KOHL gives it to me.
KOHL is one of the few reasons I like living in the Tri-City area. Seems they are building more towers, I can hear them in Milpitas and on the Dumbarton.
When they get rid of the bonehead DJs that fudge up cue cards, and the slow jams on Tuesday nights, then they will get the full FIVE stars.

I love this radio station. It plays an eclectic mix of contemporary hits mixing genres and I also love when they play those silly callers that dial in thinking they are calling Kohls and asking for some commercial good or another.
Also much love for the one time my friend called in to do the top songs, whereby the conversation went like something like this:
DJ: "Hi what's your name and do you know the name of that popular song in Shark's Tale?"
Joshua: "Joshua, yes it was Car Wash by Christina Aguilera."
Before he could get another word in *Click* The DJ hung up.
Later on the radio we hear edited together:
DJ: "We have a caller Joshua who will announce the 5th song in the countdown tonight"
Joshua: Car Wash by Christina Aguilera.
Hilarious... I still laugh thinking about it. The one caveat I have about this station is that it's not strong enough to get in Cupertino without static. Boo.

This station rocks! For some odd reason, the Bay Area somehow feels it is too hip for mainstream Top 40 stations (we haven't had one since Z95.7), so for those of us in the East and South Bays, KOHL certainly fills that void!
Now, I'm into the backpacker underground stuff as much as the next man (I used to play hip hop on 90.5 KSJS), but there is definitely a place in my rotation for some hit pop. The DJ's aren't the greatest, since they are all student trainees at a JC (not on the level as us KSJS'ers), but that's not what you listen for.
Also, one of the few shows that breaks away from the Top 40 format is "Lowridin' with JJ," and it is one of the finest programs on any station! It basically talks about local issues within the Latino community, and he spins some great Motown oldies to go along with it. I'm not Latino myself, and don't ask me how Motown is at all related to their subject matter, but JJ is one cool dude, nonetheless! Someone needs to sign this man right now! He deserves to be on the professional airwaves.

Awesome station... except for the one-hr block that plays some weird stuff.
There's some deadspots in the south bay, oh well.
No other bay area station comes close to 89.3's playlist....that's because there's no other Top40 stations.

KOHL is the best. The morning DJ (Adamic?) is very funny and the rest of the crew do really well to. I think they are as good as the so called radio stations, especially when you consider the budget KOHL has.
