Kobe Steaks rocks my socks!
I've never been to Benihana but those who have say, " you ain't missing much."
Once you've experienced Kobe Steaks relaxing atmosphere and fun entertainment, their is no other comparison in town.
Whether it is dining for a group of 12 or a romantic diner for 2. You are sure to get the same exceptional service and dining experience. I love, love, love this place!
We had to wait about 15 mins even though they were slow. It's no Kani House. The food was decent, although my shrimp weren't that tasty. My friends hot an spicy streak was awesome. Our chef was really funny and he saved this place for me. The sauces were yummy.
The whole place smelled like a dirty stove, like they don't clean the grills properly or something. So there is that....
I've been trying to find a Kani House on this side of town and I think I'll keep looking.

Went for a birthday party. Had a room. Two hibachi chefs. The French-speaking Japanese chef brought the party. I guess the ones in the green hats are still learning.
Food was okay. The dipping sauces... Good... sauces? The soup... tasted like corn... Got the rib eye. It was okay. Vegetables. Can you mess up vegetables?
Thought service was not good. Maitre'd on point, but wait staff was definitely missing in action. Will I go again? Probably not.
To respond to the review that say Kobe is no Benihana... you are absolutely right--which is exactly why I choose this place over the chain restaurant any day! Benihana may have a little more flair, but if you want great food and a more intimate experience, then this is place to be.
The whole hibachi grill experience is fun for any size party (whether its a romantic dinner for two or a birthday party of twelve). Granted, the chefs all have their own personalities so some will be more lively than others but bottom line is the food is spectacular.
I also go for the filet mignon, salmon, and scallops. Basically, you gotta get the steak. It is after all, Kobe Steaks.
Oh, and it's actually a great place to take kids. The rooms are sectioned off so you don't have to worry about a bunch of rowdy kids at your table if your doing the romantic dinner thing, just ask to be seated at a table without children. However, if you do have kids, they'll love the show. My son enjoyed watching the onion volcano go up in flames and the trick where the chef flips the shrimp tail in his hat.
GREAT food. Good drinks. Fun atmosphere than can also be a little romantic if you manage to snag a grill all to yourself and your loved one. Oh, and did I mention GREAT food!?!?! Enjoy.

I was invited to a birthday dinner at Kobe Steaks. There were about 12 people so, hibachi was definitely appropriate.
My dinner included shrimp, scallop and vegetable (hibachi) and that was good. It's always fun at the grill. The fried rice was okay. Something about it that didn't mesh well with my taste buds. The rice came out yellow before hitting the grill. I don't know, was it dyed first? The miso soup wasn't impressive and ginger dressing that came with the house salad was salty.
I've been to this restaurant once and haven't had any desire to go back. Maybe if a bunch of us decide on hibachi then, I'll go. But that rarely ever happens.
I tried their new "Black Angus New York Strip" it was so yummy.... nice and soft and so juicy. The price is very reasonable for the amount they serve with soup, salad, vegetables & dessert. This is a must try menu and you will not find at any other hibachi restaurant in Atlanta!
Also, if you have a birthday here, you can get a picture cake. They will take a picture of you and they will put it on a cake. Great memory!
Overall, If you are looking for a "QUALITY" food instead of cheap rubbery meat and frozen shrimp, you MUST GO TO Kobe Steaks in Sandy Springs.

I am not well versed in the area of Japanese steak houses. Once I got beyond all the flames, food flinging, knives twirling...when it really came down to it....the food was worthy of the circus act around it.
The decor screamed "Japanese Restaurant" as a Japanese Restaurant might want their decor to be.
A nice big bar area circles the foyer to bid the time awaiting your 3 ring seat.
I can't exactly recall what I ate, but I trust it was meat and rice....diced, tossed, and set on fire japanese style.

I'm rather surprised no one has reviewed Kobe Steakhouse here yet. Back in high school this used to be the place everyone talked about if you wanted hibachi meals. They were pretty much the originator (as far as I know) of the cook it in front of you place, where you can eat high end Japanese fillet mignon and shrimp while men in colored hats swipe their knives around.
This place is still definitely the high water mark of those places. It's a bit more expensive, and for that you get a sleeker, more sultry kind of environment for eating in. They have large relaxation areas with leather sofas where you can wait if you don't have a reservation, and they serve cocktails.
The eating rooms are dark and beautiful, with enough seating to put ten per table. The chefs still pretty much do the same shows they've been performing since open, but it never gets old to me.
An excellent Japanese meal with a bit of theatrics, for a price.

I love this place. Again, one of my favorite restaurants!!! The service is great, they greet us by name each time we come and always go out of their way to accommodate us!
The spicy filet and shrimp is to die for. Their home made ginger salad dressing is terrific! The white wine and cream sauce with chicken and shrimp is also very good!
Phin-Phin always takes good care of us. Theresa and Greg at the bar are a delight and are always open with the pours!
Plan on spending an hour to hour and a half if you go...it takes a while as all of the food is prepared before your eyes!

This is pretty much my favorite establishment in Metro Atlanta. I've come here on several occasions, drawn primarily to the hibachi-prepared steak. As is typical of hibachi-style dinner, you receive each major ingredient in phases, so it's important to resist the temptation to wait for all your food to be on the plate - just dive in as soon as it starts so that you get it piping hot.
As is normal in hibachi-style cooking, the fillet mignon itself is diced then cooked, which means each piece is perfectly seasoned on all sides and cooked evenly throughout. It melts in the mouth like any good steak should, so eat slowly to enjoy the texture.
On my most recent visit I tried the shrimp/scallops/fillet mignon/chicken combo (about $29), and it's a great way to sample their fare, but the steak still holds a special place in my heart (or stomach!). The chefs put on the typical hibachi show, which usually includes the egg-toss-in-the-toque, the onion volcano, etc. I enjoy that stuff, but I come for the food, pure and simple. It's a great place for groups, but you'll probably want to make a reservation. The area also has a new parking deck that's very convenient.
Came here for work. I'm not going to lie to you. This place kind of sucks. It's no Benihana. It reminds me of several of reasons why don't like Atlanta. Skip it.

Of all the Teppanyaki restaurants in Atlanta Kobe steaks use the highest quality of steak. I would recommend this place to come eat here for parties or with your kids because they will see a show.

I went to Kobe tonight for a close friend's birthday party - we had a party of 16. I was in the mood for some great sake so the bartender recommended their "purple haze" sake and it was fabulous. I ordered a medium-rare filet mignon & chicken dinner with the fried rice. I enjoyed the chef's show as he cooked our meals a few inches away. The noises, the smells, the flames added to such a special occasion. The food kept on coming and I'm surprised I finished it all. I almost had to undo my top button on my jeans! Two thumbs up, 5 stars, the Diamond award. The whole night was great. The food, the service, the atmosphere was all excellent. I want to go there for MY birthday;)
The staff at Kobe is wonderful. The bar is very Quaint and Kozzy. Chill atmosphere, and the cooks are very talented. Try to have a reservation on the weekend, but they always do their best on seating you quickly.
My Favorite is the lobster, filet and chicken.
Kobe Steaks makes for a fun atmosphere but for a foodie, this is not the place for me. I had a great time tonight mainly due to the good company but the food was kinda so-so. For $30 (inclusive of 20% tip for the cook and his entertainment) I had the chicken and shrimp dinner combination with fried rice. Although filling it was just okay. The shrimp were cooked pretty well but the chicken was a bit overcooked. This is a good birthday party place.
Personally, I am not going to return unless it's someone else's birthday.

I have been many times with different sized parties (2-5 people) over the past 10 years. The last time was definitely a good experience once again, despite the long wait. Versus Benihana I would recommend Kobe every time!
I went here for a company lunch. I'd heard from several people that it was awesome, so I was excited to try it! Everyone has always told me, "You've gotta have the steak if you go there, it's Kobe!", but I'm really more of a chicken than a steak person. I went with my gut and was glad I did! I had the chicken & shrimp in creamy white wine sauce. It was DELICIOUS!! Their fried rice is really good too! I guess it really depends on what chef you get, but it can be very amusing! They usually find one person to pick on at the table... as ours did. He gave the poor guy a hard time like he wasn't going to give him any rice, then dropped like 3 grains on his plate! Hilarious! I would definately recommend giving this place a try. The only down side to why they didn't get five stars is that they don't have free refills on their soft drinks. You can get free refills on hot tea, water or sweet tea, but not if you get a Diet Coke. Weird. I haven't tried any of the desserts, but I'm planning on going back to do so. I think that since I went during lunch time, they don't do as much of a "show" as they do during the dinner hours. All in all, it was a good experience!
