We were on a family trip and stayed at the Ko Olina Marriott Beach Club so I figured that a round of golf at the golf club is in order.  My brother and I were stoked to play because i've watched the LPGA tournament play there on TV a few times and had to go check it out for myself!  Plus, I've been told that it's The Big Wiezies home course and there may have been a small groupie/papparazzi moment in there when making the decision to play.
We had the hotel arrange the tee time and I think they gave us a discount because we were staying at the property.  It was still like 150 bones to play, but no biggie....we were on vacation and that's what you do.
So because we were a twosome, we kicked the starter $50 to let us play ahead by ourselves and he obliged with no hesitation.  Carts were nice and clean, had GPS and a complimentary cup with comp water as well.
The course is well maintained and the rough is pretty short.  I figured that they don't grow up the rough so we spending tourists will have a good round of golf and come back to play again one day!
The only minuses were that we caught up to a group of Japanese tourists that clearly shouldn't have been playing a course of that caliber and the wind kicked up pretty strong on some holes on the back 9.
All in all it was a good course and a good experience to play on a course that the pro's play.
I would play here again, but not for awhile because there are other courses in Hawaii that I want to play before coming back to Ko Olina.
Big Wiezie sighting?  Negative.

Granted, this is the only golf course I've played in Hawaii, but it's not a bad place to start.  The golf course is located on the Marriott's land and connected to the Roy's restaurant.  Standard rates are in the $150 range, but if you live there, and my parents do, the rate's $50.  Not a bad savings there.

Upon arrival, you're free to drop your golf bag off at the bag drop, then park your car so you don't have to schlep your clubs around.  It is a resort after all.  When you check in for your tee time, the guy tells you your cart's waiting for you in the cart parking lot.  You walk out there and find your cart, which, surprise surprise, your clubs are nicely attached to each cart.  The aren't mind-readers, so if your bag's not with the person you wanted to ride with, by all means change the bags.  Also included in your cart are 2 bottles of water and 2 souvenir plastic cups, which you're welcome to take to the bar upon completion of your round, and enjoy a beer on them.

The coolest thing about the carts is the GPS system they have attached to it.  The computer screen tells you how far you are from the pin, the other carts in front and in back of you, your pace of play and you can even order snacks.  It's the best thing!

Of course you're playing in Hawaii at a resort, so the greens are very well kept and the fairways are perfect.  Depending on the weather that day, the wind can be bothersome, but not terrible.  It sprinkled a little bit, here and there, but again, it's Hawaii, so get used to that.

All in all, it's a great course to play if you live there or know someone who lives there.  Otherwise, you'd need to be rolling in the dough to afford to play.
