this is an actual review of the Kiwiberri fruit.
but i promise you I have been here, and its pretty much the same as any yogurt place. Generic and unfulfilling . Pretty much like my personal Ad on Craigslist (M 2 M).
I'd like to think that the kiwi berry was the result of a cross-pollination accident between a kiwi and some sweet New Zealand berry. I hope it happened on its own in nature's strange glory, by adventurous bees or brisk spring winds. A more likely scenario is that the kiwi berry is the result of bored and overpaid New Zealand genetic-fruit scientists tampering with God's plan. The grape-sized lime-green fruits have all the punch and vigor of a kiwi fruit wrapped in the convenience of a berry. Gone is the coarsely haired rind and in its place is an edible skin not unlike that of a muscadine. The interior is reminiscent of the color and texture of a kiwi, only with tinier black seeds around a tinier white starburst. The taste is far less tart, though--somewhere between a fig and a blackberry. I imagine the mutation process providing many failed attempts before the current result. Surely somewhere there's a laboratory filled with nightmarish atrocities of fruits misshapen and foul.
Like the scene in Alien Resurrection with all the horrifying failed Ripley clones, the kiwi berry, too, must have had several botched representations--each with a more grotesque and testicular appearance than the last. The kiwi berry might only be a gateway experiment, though, only a step in a process that will eventually lead to the discovery of some sort of über-fruit, which will no doubt look like a peach but taste like a cheeseburger. -

Ew...
Okay fine...there was no hole in the middle...they just gypped me in other ways...
So instead of the hole...they decided to cut it off from the top. Man...that small plain with 3 toppings was not even enough to feed a blue baby smurf.
I sampled their mango passion and blueberry...they were both...eh. The plain I had was not that good either. It was a bit watery and just didn't taste right. I don't know...this place kinda sucked. Even their cups suck. They stick on the Kiwiberry sticker on the cups...its not printed on there. It looks pretty ghetto in my opinion. -

If you hate Pinkberry, then brace yourself for another sneak attack. Because it looked Kiwiberri is another fro yo chain popping up all over town.
I went to the one at Rowland Height's City Walk at Diamond Plaza because it opened it up late last year. To me it was on par with Pinkberry's expectation of what a tart yogurt should be.
However, I just don't feel the same with this location.
Interestingly, it was located among the bar crawl joints of 6th Street in K-town where it's walking distances to many of the popular late night hangouts. In a lousy twist, it is within 5 minute walking distance from Pinkberry, Ice Kiss, and Koffea where all of them are serving frozen treats to any crawlers. Competition is that tough around this part of the town.
The vibrant place of leon colors decor similar to PB where selections of either Kiwi or Original is also patted down the same way. With the yogurt prices being in the similar range also where you can get a medium size with 3 toppings for $4.95.
The service is very friendly with details to efficient conveyor belt movements of getting the yogurt with toppings to you in a snap. The cash register collect the money from you. Chit chat with you about their stamp cards to get a free fro yo after a certain numbers of purchase. While this chat was going on, another worker gets the printout of the order and prepared the yogurt for you in a jiffy. Team work at its best.
Noticeable difference in this location is that the fruits are not as dicey or well cut as the other locations. But with the fruits being on the yogurt, it's still tasted fresh. The yogurt at this place tasted a little bit more sour than I like, but retains some of the tartness at the same time. I guess Sweet & Sour wouldn't be out of the question for this place.
The place is very small with limited seatings of 2 tables on the exterior with another table and a few bar stool seats on the interior. Very tight and confine space for a small location.
The only thing that bothers me is the parking. This particular plaza has valet parking which I thought it was a joke. I think you get plenty of parking elsewhere and plus most people stop by here before the next stop of barcrawling. So plan ahead to avoid the valet parking in this plaza if you can.
Yogurt wise is not bad and the going rate is the same with any other yogurt place. If needed to be ask, I still prefer Pinkberry just down the street. They are still the best! :PListed in: All Because of YELP... LA…, Frozen Desserts..anyone?

Good selection, decent prices (could be lower). The blueberry and mango flavors set this place apart.
Price: For a small with 3 toppings, the price is $3.95. Not the cheapest but also not the most expensive froyo around.
Choices: The toppings have the standard Pinkberry selection of various fruits, grains, and sweets. You can order plain, green tea, mango, or blueberry froyo. I only tried the mango and blueberry, but both were awesome and pretty tart (near Pinkberry levels of lactic acid). The mango flavor genuinely tastes like mangoes. As for the fruits, they're fresh as they can get. No frozen junk here.
Decor: Seating is limited inside but there is a spacious patio outside complete with glowing cube/table and giant blocks of foam serving as chairs. Like many other places, the furniture appears to be of Ikea origin. Don't sit outside if you hate cigarette smoke and car exhaust.
Synopsis: Good yogurt. I salute you Kiwiberri!Listed in: Ice Cream, Frozen Yogurt,…

The first time I tried the new style of frozen yogurt, I had it without toppings. Big mistake. This time I had a natural with mango and Fruity Pebbles. It was awesome!
This location is worth visiting for the squishy stools in front alone. Its like sitting on a marshmallow.
Revision: "Squishy stools?" Dear God. One could so take that the wrong way. -

Pretty good in the the grand fro-yo universe. It's not Red Mango, but what is?
Open to 1am on the weekends it's a pretty average in price (small w/ 3 toppings = $3.95) but i was really surprised at the texture.
I got the plain and it was very tart and smoother than Pinkberry or Cantaloop (which I find a bit grainy). A bit skimpy on the toppings, but at least the fruit was fresh.
I would definitely rank this as one of the better Fro Yo stands.

One night we hit Pinkberry at ten minutes past 11. They wouldn't let us in, but we didn't want to have a fruitless venture into the night. So, I made the executive decision to go down the street to Kiwiberri (with a "berri" at the end, mind you).
I'm not a yogurt connoisseur like Matthew K. I'm not even really a big yogurt eater. Kiwiberry's (sorry Kiwiberri's) yogurt seemed a little more sour to me, which is fine cuz I like sour stuff. The fruit they had that night was fresh. The decor was decent - bright colors against a sharp white background - even if it wasn't as elaborate as Pinkberry's. And there was NO line.
The yogurt tasted fine to me (again not a connoisseur), but there are two things that Kiwiberri lacks (-1 star each)
1) The Pinkberry vibe. A shorter line means that you get your yogurt faster, find a seat with no effort, but you can also get that awkward feeling when it's just you and the yogurt guys standing around waiting for another customer to come in.
2) The heroine juice. I did not experience that distinct Pinkberry buzz after Kiwiberri. Kiwiberri may taste similar but it is sans the crack cocaine, which is really why we all keep going back to Pinkberry anyway, isn't it? -

I had the blueberry fro-yo sans toppings and it was great. A little cheaper than Pinkberry and they have more fro-yo flavors (plain, green tea, blueberry and mango).

You have to compare all yogurt places to Pinkberry. That's not necessarily the standard, but it's like 0. It might not be your favorite number, but it's where you start going positive or negative.
So here's my analysis. This kiwiberri has the same texture as pinkberry but without the tartness. It's creamy and delicious.
Lines are short here, and the server for me was extremely generous with the toppings. I had lovely fresh strawberries (chopped), bluberries (my favorite), and dduk. They were super generous with the dduk. In fact, I had strawberries and dduk left over at the bottom of my cup and no more yogurt left. Crazy, eh?
The place isn't as spacious as it could be. There's not a lot of places for you to sit, but it's nice enough. The price is comparable to pinkberry.
All in all, yummy yogurt. -

After getting Boodaejigae next door..we came here. What a disappointment. First of all, the poor Korean boy at the counter was there all alone and he looked like a frail 14 year old Korean girl and he had the stereotypical haircut all the Korean boys have in the movies.
I think it was best said by one of the guys i was there with "This place is crap!"
Yes, it is. I think it was march or so. And they were using CHRISTMAS M&Ms as toppings! -

Tastes like the yogurt is missing some key ingredient.... perhaps yogurt?
I can tell they use some cheap powder to make it because it tends to be very icy when it should be slightly creamy. It kinda tastes synthetic too.
They're very stingy with the toppings as well.
Sorry but Pinkberry is way better. -

why 5 stars you ask?
here's the super short version(which is really all you need):
-frozen yogurt that tastes better than pinkberry.
-a way shorter line.
-and finally, it's not pinkberry.
Enough said. -

Kiwiberri is the best! The yogurt is so awesome! Pinkberry sucks! Ok ok, I'm bias towards kiwiberri, especially this one on 6th because my buddy's g/f opened this joint. But seriously, I've tried both, and they're pretty similar...but Pinkberry, although spacious has long ass lines...and Kiwiberri doesn't. So, I rather not wait for 30 min to get yogurt, and I rather not pay for my yogurt...and since I get my yogurt from Kiwiberri for free...I go there. I'm such a cheap ass. Kiwiberri!

the original flavor at kiwiberry definitely tastes different from that of pinkberry's. since i'm not addicted to pinkberry (yet), i can enjoy kiwiberry. i like variety. but if you have an eccentric addiction on pinkberry, you may not like kiwiberry.
on a typical weekend night in k-town, you would see a long chain of people lining up to get a taste of pinkberry. drive only a couple of blocks away, and you would be lucky to find a single person here at kiwiberry. that's how we ended up coming here.
i would've given them one more star if they had more seats. -

Stumbled into this place after a night of drinking. I was very surprised to find a frozen yogurt store still open. The yogurt here is too tart for my taste and I'm not surprised to read that there is never a line. However, it still gets 4 stars from me just because they are open until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays.

For me, i have no preference in my fro yo chains. While, there are some subtle differences in taste (tartness versus creaminess) and texture (smoothness of the yogurt), to name a few, my rating comes down to freshness of the topping, how big the air pocket is in the middle of my yogurt, ease of parking and overall feel good value.
The toppings here generally looked fresh. Today, I went with almonds with a blueberry flavored yogurt instead of my usual original with pineapple, blueberries and mochi. After devouring Galibi at Chil bo, I was too full to eat more toppings.
When I got to the middle of yogurt, I was very disappointed to see a huge air pocket. My yogurt was hollow in the middle; I mean air was taking up space where I should normally find yogurt. That did not leave me with an good feeling. If I was an owner of a fro yo place, I would advertise - "We do not have big hollow air pockets in our yogurt."
How much more does it cost to make an extra turn from the yogurt dispensing machine and make the customer feel good about their order. To me, this is the same as serving two orders Galibi with three servings worth of bones, putting empty clam shells into my seafood stew, serving me sushi with double portion rice, triple battering my corn dog to make it look bigger, getting large fries that do not fill up the container, etc. You know what I mean.
There is a valet parking lot here, which makes it easy to get in and out, but it adds to the cost of the fro yo. If I am eating it there, then worth the valet service charge.
One positive over Pinkberry is that the flavored yogurt is the same price as original yogurt. -

First of the pinkberryish places that we tried in L.A. cus pinkberry was closed when we wanted to go. I thought it was a little better than pinkberry actually. And they are not as sheisty with the toppings. thumbs up from me. still pretty pricey though.

I really liked their version of frozen yogurt--a bit creamier than Pinkberry's which I like since I'm an ice-cream girl at heart. It's definitely cheaper and they gave us a lot when we went (mid-day Saturday). We tried a medium original w/strawberry, mango, and mochi ($4.95). Fruit was fresh (except the mango seemed canned since it was sticky sweet and darker looking than fresh) and the mochi was nice a chewy. And there was no gaping hole in our cup=)

I like Pinkberry yogurt better, but Kiwiberri was closer and empty so we dropped by. A good alternative and satisfied my yogurt craving...but I think Pinkberry/Red Mango is a tad more appealing to my taste buds.

the texture is not so creamy and tangy- i would say it's pretty light. their portions are pretty small compared to other places like beachberries or rosegreen, and toppings look okay but not so fresh fresh! the parking sucks...but, if you go there often just get their stamp card so at least you could get a free yogurt.
