you cant compare Kiwiberri to Pinkberry... who came first, whatever, doesn't matter...
i love Kiwiberri... i love the tartness, i love the consistency.. I love the simple choices.. regular, or large (the large is LARGE), plain or green tea, and fruit ... simple and great, i love Kiwiberri... whenever I'm in Claremont i go and I cant wait to go to the one in Pasadena...
PS .. its not for everyone... don't go if you don't love plain tart yogurt with fruit toppings..
Kiwiberri's plain yogurt was the plainest I've ever tasted. Read: NO flavor!
I've said it before and I'll say it again: PINKBERRY RULES.

With the semi-recent fad of "-berri/y" yogurt shops around LA, I thought I'd try Kiwiberri in the Village (since I was in the area eating Pollos Kikyriki mmmm). I had one bite of the green tea yogurt and quicker than you could say nasty I had to wash out my mouth with the coffee I had in tow. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they've been open for several months and apparently haven't gone out of business yet, but dayamn that green stuff was chalky and nasty like poo.
I had a small free sample of smoothie back when they first opened, and that wasn't bad, but there was nothing special about it (I could've made it at home with my blender, some TJs yogurt and fresh fruit for a fraction of the cost). And since there really isn't much else on the menu, consider me finished with Kiwiberri.

STOP HATIN. It's not SUPPOSED to taste like ice cream!!!!!
If you just go in KNOWING that it is more yogurt-like than ice cream-esque, you might walk out more satisfied. It might not have as many "health benefits" as they advertise, but it certainly has fewer calories than American froyo or ice cream. It might not be the most titillating dessert, but it makes for a very refreshing snack.
That said, one star off for their creepy hybrid fruit prints on the walls.

This place is incredibly refreshing and healthy for something that can be considered dessert. Hell, a plain kiwiberri with granola and raspberries is good enough to eat for breakfast when they open, which is what I did. I don't even remotely enjoy the tatse of fresh, runny, normal style yogurt, but this type of frozen yogurt was crisp and tart but mildly sweet, and the idea of mixing it with fresh fruit, dry cereal, chocolate and other little goodies is pure genius! Trendy and healthy.
Never been to a Pinkberri, so I wouldn't be able to compare Kiwiberri in this healthy dessert genre.
I wish they had this stuff in Nor Cal!!!! I absolutely crave this stuff on hot days, which we don't have much of here up North, but I do loooooves me some Kiwiberri, and I long for it often.
I love this place. Maybe too much. It can be quite addicting.
I think the people that have said they don't like this place simply don't like this type of frozen yogurt. If you come here looking for a sweet snack, you're not going to find it. Instead you're going to find a refreshing, healthy (at least healthy tasting) concoction. The green tea yogurt is my favorite. It doesn't even really taste like green tea but it is delicious.
I think this place has pretty good ambiance and compared to other places i've been to (Harmony in San Carlos), reasonable prices.
Only complaint is that once you're done... you want more. One time I got a small with toppings and when I finished I was on my way out and I had to go back in and grab one for the road. I recommend getting the large.
I think after a few visits to Pinkberry, I've completely gotten over the tart fro'yo craze. I wanted so badly to be a fan of this less fat, healthier concept of fro'yo but deep down I'm still the old school "i love vanilla w/ hot fudge" kind of girl.
In all fairness, I'm basing this review from my observation of my BF's reactions to these new yogurt places. It seems to me that he really loves Kiwiberri more than anything else. After lunch, we could've driven to the nearby Pinkberry but instead, we paid a visit to the City of Claremont for his dessert fix. I really haven't noticed the difference between them, but obviously Kiwiberri has the advantage of the two.
Although Kiwiberri may never have launched 1000 parking tickets, this one would've if it was located in an area with more ppl than from the claremont colleges n the village. kiwiberri makes me feel better about havin a sweet binge after dinner. my personal favorite is gettin the green tea flavor with cocoa pebbles, blueberries, n mochi. Mochi goes soooo well with the greentea.
*1 star less for not having the mochi everytime.
While Pinkberry's facin a lawsuit over whether it actually is a frozen "yogurt" or not, kiwiberri's still on the DL n as long as no one questions it, im gonna stick with the "kiwiberri = frozen yogurt = less fat = healthy" idea.
Plus you can always park right by the store without gettin a parking ticket =P
*****edit*****
what happened to this kiwiberri?? the fruits aren't fresh, the staffs aren't nice, and when i went at 9:40pm today, they were CLOSED! WTF kiwiberri. n the two girls inside straight up ignored me. i'd rather drive all the way to irvine kiwiberri for their delicious mango flavored one than walk 15min to this kiwiberri. =(
Meh. It's honestly not that great. I actually prefer the frozen yogurt over at Fruizen in Claremont or even the Pinkberry in Rancho.
The first time I tried their green tea yogurt...it was o-tay...then I tried it again and it wasn't bad...the more I taste the tangy sweetness I just can't get enough...especially with the mochi toppings...yum!
Compared to Pinkberry, the large + 3 toppings is 4.95 ...I just can't imagine eating $7 of frogurt!! One time I noticed the server gave mucho toppings to this guy she thought was cute...hmmph! Not fair...that's my only gripe....hopefully the prices haven't changed since May.
I wish I understood why I like Kiwiberri so much.
I wish I understood why I keep giving them what litle cash I have. I wish I understood why I like their yogurt, because it's definitely not your run-of-the-mill fro-yo. It's this random sour-ish tangy thing that, by itself, I wish I wasn't addicted to. (However, it's only 65 calories per regular serving, according to the manager.)
I think about it... and I realize it's the freakin' mochi. This place is nothing without the mochi. The mochi by itself is another star. Other than that, it's a fun place to walk down to from the colleges if you're in the area. Actually, it's the only reason that I ever walk down to the Village. Little cups of yogurt with tasty rice cake. That is all.
Very giving on the toppings... I didn't think they gave as much froyo as Pinkberry... Frucci.. Yogurtland is just different, they have more flavors and toppings to choose from in general). I don't remember how much they swirl in the paper cup. But I thought that it was good for what it was. Reminded me of Frucci (atmosphere and topping-wise). I thought that Pinkberry's taste was more tart and tangy than Kiwiberri's. I would go back, but I wouldn't say its my favorite spot to get froyo.

This place is the exact same replica of Pinkberry, and for half the price! I love the yogurt flavor that both places have to offer, and really, it's because they taste like those tiny Japanese yogurt drinks that I think every Korean kid had tons of when they were little. Just brings me back to my childhood. =)

Hello. My name is Kiwiberri, and if you like my twin Pink Berry, then you will like me. I have the same two flavors to offer, plain and green tea, as well as some smoothies. I am slightly jealous of Pink Berry because she offers a wider selection of toppings, especially the fruit ones, but I do offer the best ones she has to offer. My price is slightly lower and you can add more toppings with me. I am fat free, full of calcium goodness, and have that real frozen yogurt tarty, sweet and sour taste (non of that fake sweetener, ice cream like "frozen yogurt"). I know that after meeting me you will become one of my best friends and visit me often. So come in today and have some yogurt. Don't worry, Pink Berry won't mind if you visit her less.

I like this place! I love their plain flavored yogurt, because it tastes like REAL frozen yogurt, and not that fake crap available at most places. Really delicious with fruit mixed in!
Like Pinkberry, I don't get KiwiBerri. The green tea yogurt is horribly bland. I think the vanilla had more flavor.

I kind of wish nobody had ever told me about the whole sour-frozen-yogurt fad because this place gobbles my money about as quickly as I gobble the tangy frozen yogurt with delicious fresh fruit toppings. I admit that it's mostly my fault - I'm addicted to the stuff - but I'm knocking off three stars because it's so damn expensive and the amount of yogurt/toppings you get is really stingy.

I loved Kiwiberry in Rowland Heights, and this place isn't any different. Tart fro' yo' and fruits? What a concept!

I'm not usually a tart yogurt fan, but the yogurt flavor with fresh fruit and mochi is pretty tasty. (Side note -- I hate how 21 Choices uses frozen fruit -- I get brain freeze!) I'm also a big fan of the photoshopped fruit hybrid posters on the wall.
Happily, the mochi topping that always seems to be out at Pinkberry was in abundant supply at Kiwiberri. That, combined with mango and kiwi and a swirl of green tea and regular, made for great treat .
i use to like it a lot before i start going to red mango... and now i don't go here anymore just because i got tired of froyo and there are some closer yogurt places near my house now... and there's a pink berry at the shoppes...
What's the big deal with Kiwiberri? When it opened last summer I doubted they would stay open for long (who wants chalk when Bert & Rocky's is right across the street?), but they've somehow managed to convince everybody in Claremont that it's not only good but also healthy. It's hella expensive, and for the price you pay for the toppings you might as well buy your own box of Fruit Loops/strawberries/mochi/whatever and dump it on the yogurt. Frucci is much better (and cheaper), although it's about 10 mins away from Kiwiberri. Save your sweet tooth money for something else in the village like an almond slush with boba from CK Cafe or a mocha cookie from Some Crust (ahh....).
Good, but overpriced. Additionally, they have a new formula of yogurt now that doesnt have as much sourness -- which is why I used to go there!!!
Not so hot anymore.....dont do the frequent cards and out of rasberries and other fruit. blah what happened? try Pinkberry..
