I moved to the nob hill neighborhood 9 months ago and have been continually searching for a nail salon that meets my standards. After finding a couple that I thought might work they would eventually disappoint. Kitty's has consistently done an excellent job and they are always extremely friendly. My feet look great even before they put the polish on. It might be a dollar or two more than some of the places in the neighborhood, but it is definitely worth it, the quality is way better. I'm done searching, I'm sticking with Kitty's.
Also, Although I rarely get them, their manicures last way longer than any other place i've ever been to.
On a Monday bored and in desperate need for a pedicure I stroll in Kitty's Nails. Best pedicure chairs ever, best foot massage ever, and I am as happy as can be.
I will definitely keep coming here since its only a few doors up from my work.
They always do a great job on my mani pedis here, and if it does happen to chip, they are always more than happy to fix for free! No questions asked!
Minus one star for their massage chairs. Once you sit in one, you will know what I mean...
Not the best manicure I've ever had, but pretty darn close. Clean, friendly, cute.
I like this place. There are several nail salons that are practically next to each other and I like this one along with Nob Hill Nails...when this one can't take me I usually go to the other place and vice versa. I get my pedicures here and sometimes get waxing (eyebrows) done too. They do a great job, make you feel comfortable, and the prices are fair too. If your in this area and looking to get your nails done, I recommend trying them out.
I like this place a lot as their quality of work (I only get pedicures here, $20) is really good, and I always walk out with happily painted toes that make me smile whenever I look down at them!
It's a nice clean place in a convenient location by the California cable car line and near Polk Street, plus they have these great massage chairs that take care of my back kinks while I get my pedicure, mini foot massage and while I catch up on my magazine reading.
I'm upping my star count to 3 because the manager of the salon contacted me and apologized for the poor workmanship - apparently she was out of town on the day I went in and offered to correct it.

This is my favorite salon to get my nails done. Pricing is in line with all the neighborhood places, but they take their time and do the job the right way.
The place is very clean, the people are nice and don't rush you around and it just feels so much more relaxing than most other places I have gone to get my nails done in the area. They do a great job at mani's and pedi's, using lime wedges and giving great massages.
Kitty's Salon is my favorite nail and waxing place in the Nob Hill Neighborhood. The place is clean, the nails are great quality and the waxing is thorough (and I mean thorough!!!). I've tried out other places but they disappoint in comparison to Kitty's.
Even if you have been there only once, the owner will remember you and try and take good care of you. They are open until 7 but the owner will make special accommodations to stay later if you are a regular.
This is what a really good, cheap, neighborhood Vietnamese-owned nail salon should be about:
Clean. Sanitary. Blue liquid jars galore. Foot baths scrubbed between clients with industrial cleaning agents.
Friendly. Kitty, her husband and her legion of ladies are super nice. I forgot my flip flops once, and they didn't charge me for a pair from the store. Always a good selection of up-to-date magazines around.
Meticulous. They'll go in and get at those stubborn ingrowns and hangnails even after the first go around. Plus, I can't have wax on my face, and Kitty personally tweezes my lovely little brows into submission even though it's so much more time consuming. Flower petals, mint, lemon foot baths. Massages.
Cheap. $20+ mani-pedi that lasts longer than 2 weeks.
This is a great nail salon. I walked in randomly one day and got a manicure that lasted for two weeks, which almost never happens. It's comfortable and clean and upscale (they put rose petals in the water they use to soak your hands) but you don't pay extra for the frills. It's small. There are only 3 pedicure chairs and 3 manicure chairs, so sometimes there is a wait.
I read every review before writing mine, looking for another by a guy to no avail. I go to Costa Del Sol tanning salon a couple of doors East of Kitty's and had walked by oblivious hundreds of times, and for some reason I walked in their doors last year and got a pedicure and loved it. A pedicure is only $20.00 and the place is clean, fresh and well lit. The staff are really nice, and seem to be overseen by the proprietor who is fluent in English and extremely polite. The soaking is wonderful, the scrub really revitalizing and great care is always taken trimming and cleaning each nail. The spa chairs are very comfortable and also clean, they even vibrate which is a neat touch for this luxurious service. I always thought manicure and pedicure were only chick things, and now I understand why the ladies love this service so much. I've tried a few other places, but none has compared to Kitty's in my opinion. It's a wonderful gift I give myself about every six weeks and they're really great here.
I've been going here for a while because a friend lives next door. They now know me, and they always smile and say hi when I walk by. You've got to love that. All chairs are spa chairs, and they just got these new massage chairs that are pretty darn cool (once you turn off the wear butt probe part). They have an amazing color selection, and great prices. It's always clean, and I've never had to wait more than five or ten minutes even though they only have three pedi chairs.
Kitty Nails is a great salon, the manicurist and pedicurist are great, they are conscientious of their work and they soak your hands with lemons and orchids.. how lovely...
my only complaint is that they don't have the best polish, so come packing.
My friend and I decided to get our eyesbrows waxed & I needed a lip waxing also . Her friend recommended "Nob Hill Nails" but when we got there, they said the lady who does the waxing went home already . So we kinda just wandered and walked by Kitty's Nails, and WOW it is gorgeous inside ! The pricing is reasonable: $12 eyebrow $8 lip . Then my friend went first and her eyebrows came out perfect . The lady who did it was so nice . They have this magnifying thing with a bright light so they can see clearer and do a better job . She also lets you see what she did and asks you if you want it thinner or more arched; unlike other stores who just do it . My whole experience here was great . I would definitely recommend my friends to come here :D
LOVE LOVE LOVE this nail salon! They are the nicest ladies who truly want to make your nails looks fabulous! They are not ones to 'rush' you in and out. They take their times and want to make sure nothing meses up before you leave. They have lime wedges & mint inside their water when you soak your fingers-- a nice added touch.
Tip: Try to go during the week.. its less busy!
I've driven by this place for 5 years but a friend just dragged me here for the first time. I got lucky with the parking and the ladies at Kitty's were great. They were very sweet and Kitty stayed past closing time to make sure I was good to go. I'm celebrating my one week anniversary with my mani-pedi and so far it's survived a plane ride, white water rafting, hot springs and plenty of debauchery. I will definitely be coming back here again.
Kitty's makes paws happy. I love this quaint nail shop. As tiny as it is, they carry all the colors and color combinations you can think of.
When getting my mani and pedis, I make sure the establishment is spic and span, and they definitely live up to my standards as they use Barbicide disinfectant on all their tools.
The girls always know exactly how I like my pedis done and know exactly the right shade of pink I like for my french pedis. Most importantly, I don't feel rushed, and they don't push the cross- sale of their numerous add-ons like suggesting a mani in addition to my pedi, or adding a paraffin treatment to my pedi, or insisting on gel instead of acrylic, etc.
The use of oils and rose petals in their soak create an aromatic ecstasy . It's definitely not your usual acetone and acrylic stink. Woohoo for FREE aromatherapy!
Best quality & best priced Mani & Pedi I've found after a year of searching in the city. The lime wedges that they use in the foot scrub are scrumptious, and as stated in the other reviews, you are never rushed here. All of the women who work here are incredibly sweet. At one point during my last visit, I had three women working on me at one time! I've never felt so pampered! Kitty's Nails is freaking awesome. Try them out!

It is the second time I went this place and I am still wondering why I have been earlier. They have some really nice equipment and the prices are really good. They are doing a great job and they don't rush you out. My pedicure and manicure of today was perfect. I did the acrylic nail and she just did a really good job. I only pay $50 for the all service (pedicure included)! I will recommend this place to anyone because they do a good job, they are nice people, the place is clean and cute and I think it is the best quality/service/value.
This place is great. Super cheap for a mani/pedi and although they don't have the widest selection of colors, they always do a fantastic job. I got a mani/pedi before a Mexican vacation and my manicure lasted for 2 entire weeks before I saw one chip! I've never even had a manicure last 4 days, let alone two entire weeks full of beach, pool and digging sand castles with the kiddies.
Added bonus: if you're in the need for some groceries, you can park at the underground Cala Foods parking lot across the street.
Kitty has got herself a fine little establishment. I agree with Aimee that the color selection isn't the widest...though if you want a shade of pink, there's a crap-load to choose from. Once I forgot my wallet and they said "It's fine, pay next time. You're a neighbor." I was stunned at their show of trust. I skipped my happy toes back home to get my cash and promptly took it right back. Kitty's is the best!
This is what a $20 pedicure should be... So friendly (they set out a magazine for you while you pick a color - how sweet!) and so quick. Its a cozy spot with only four pedicure station and four manicure stations. I agree the color options are limited but last time I went there seemed to be more to choose from. And they did a nice salt scrub.
This place isa step above the rest, especially considering its location. The owner kitty is great, but the rest of the crew is usually in training from the beauty college I think. It's usually pretty busy & truly I have had my nails chip & break more often when I go here so actually I go to their neighbors (Golden Nails). Yeah, they're all pretty similar.
