When I tell people about this place they're like "where?! Is that a strip club?!" lol sooo far from it!! Kitty's is my favorite lil warehouse renovation. It get's four stars for the good music and good drinks. (I've only had bad/soso drinks there one time) The diverse crowd is also a plus, like literally, every shape size, height, etc. is in attendance. Not to mention the vibe here is the business...It is isn't hardly pretentious or stif. it actually FLOWS and people have fun. The dance floor is kinda small but I like that...it gives it a real dancehall kinda feel..everyone's close and dancing together...love that!
Now the thing I HATE about Kitty's is the raatid line wrapped around the bloodclaat building..its moves like molasses. So if you get there on a busy night after 10:30 (particularly monday's) expect to wait and watch the doormen let in all their friends. The idea of waiting in line to get into a bar located on a backstreet is just pure fuckery to me. Another line here that moves like melted marshamallows is the womens bathroom line. Please don't show up and have to pee because you will most likely have to relieve yourself elsewhere. Also, the bartenders are RUDE rude RUDE! smh too many bad experiences.
but yea the cons don't outweigh the pros here which is why i keep on going back. :-)

Great space and great tunes.. Love to kick it here when its crowded and the crowd is getting crunk to some hip hop!!!

I absolutely love this place......

I am passionate about many things in life...Mojitos happen to be on that list. I have tried mojitos everywhere from Miami to Trinidad and Tobago to NYC....hands down Kitty's makes THE BEST mojitos period.

I've been here pretty much every week since moving back to the Bay Area and you would be hard pressed to find a mojito this good anywhere else in the Bay. If you are really a drinker ask for "10 Cane" rum, it'll cost you a few extra dollars but you get your money's worth. I've never been disappointed and I keep coming back for more.

The bartender with the spikey hair has made my drinks everytime I have been and he is probably one of the best bartenders in the Bay.

The DJ is awesome on Fridays and Saturdays....outdoor patio is gorgeous with plenty of seating. A really chill place to meet up with some like minded people and just unwind with a drink...

This was my first real "bar" experience since turning 21 and it was superrr cute!  I was a little uneasy at first, since there are a lot of eerie warehouses around the venue, but inside, it was a nice decor, big long bar and a space to dance. The music they were playing was a mixture of 90s and now, which was cooool, i'm a 90s child so I could appreciate that. The bartender was nice, he didn't say a word, but he kept sliding drinks our way w/out having to ask which was very nice!

It can get a little congested towards the middle of the evening, but by then you should be tipsy and not mind too much :)

Finally a place to go out in Emeryville.

The happy hour crowd is fun with a mix of biotech and blue collar workers (it is in the industrial part of Emeryville.)  The outside patio is super, and their glasses of wine are a good deal for the big sized pour.

I agree with another yelper's comments about the mixed drinks.  They try to put their own twist on things, but sugar in the raw just doesn't work on the rim of a lemon drop.  They do have nice specialty mojitos on occassion.

It get's a bit hoochy on Friday and Saturday nights with hip hop dj's.  During the week, they have different music.  Reggae night is fun.  My only negative comment is that they don't play any house/electronica music.

When its comes to going out for a night of drinks and fun with my gals, 90% of my decision on where to go is based on the music. Now, with that said...

The music here is crackin. Hip Hop, RARELY any top 40 radio junk (thank the lord) and of course.. Reggae.

Kittys is the spot to go on a Monday night if you want to chill, dance, and listen to good music. It gets pretty packed by 11 so if you want to avoid a 30+ minute wait in line, I suggest you arrive at least by 10PM to get in. There's no cover, and the crowd is really diverse and laid back. Theres only two restroom stalls but the lines arent too bad at all. It gets pretty hot inside so you can also chill in their outdoor patio area which I really like also.

Come on Monday if you want to find me:)

This place is actually a cool spot. It has a nice patio which is really nice to hang out on a sunny day. I haven't been here in awhile, but thought I needed to review them.

What I like about Kitty's is the Bloody Mary Bar they do on Sunday (or used to). I love all the things that go into a bloody mary and adding them myself was pretty fun.

Went here last night and felt inclined to review...

After only learning of this spot last night and being the bar explorer that I am, the consensus was to go here instead of Lukas or Easy Lounge. This place is in, shall I say, the boondocks. Once we got inside, the place was packed, as it should be, and the DJ was nonstop, playing all the club hits. The crowd was extremely diverse (yaaay for diversity!). Yuppies and dread-shakers in perfect harmony. It was a delightful sight! :D The DJ played hip-hop, did a small MJ (R.I.P) tribute, and some electronica with a dash of house. But he didn't play any of the genres too much, so that every musical preference was acknowledged. As said by previous Yelpers, there was an outside patio that had heaters, which happened to be a plus because it was really chilly. Yes, there were smokers, but nothing to complain about. I didn't have any drinks but I was told that they were pretty decent.

I definitely recommend this bar if you like diverse crowds, good music and an awesome patio to cool off from all the dancing you will engage in.

A very pleasant place to hang out ...
* jazz piano playing softly on the sound system
* a wood bar with a warm, comfortable feel
* spacious patio
* reasonably priced drinks (on a recent date night, Hubby and I had a virgin lime dacquiri and cranberry-orange juice, came to $7)
* sophisticated grownups everywhere and no 4-year-olds underfoot.

They were out of nonalcoholic beer, which bummed me out a bit. Hope that gets resolved. That's the only reason they aren't getting 5 stars.

The atmosphere is good, and I love their deck seating.
The prices aren't as good as you would expect from a bar in a warehouse district.  Also, the mixed drinks on their menu try too hard to be cool, and end up being disgusting.
I would go a lot more if they revamped their drinks list.

After my dinner disappointment, I felt I needed a drink!

Met up with a friend that suggested this place.  Wahhhhhh.....not impressed with this place either. They carried 6 types of beers and none of them were Corona or Bud. OMG! I thought I was going to cry! But kept my cool and opted for a mixed drink. I asked 1 of the 3 bartenders what mixed drink is he known for.  Little did I know, the 3 Stooges work here! Mo was speaking English, but I could not understand a darn word he was saying! I finally gave up trying to understand and had him pour me something.

Wasn't long till we were on our 2nd round. I totally know who was Curly! This man kept pacing back and forth doing wetardid miscelleous crap and not serving drinks! I swear he was lost  behind the bar. So I called upon Larry. He was friendly and I asked him the same question. This is what I got "Well, uh we make this um...uh", in my best fake, sweet voice I interrupted his speech impediment and asked him to just make me a popular mix drink. I must say it was yummy.  But when I asked him the name, he did not know, he just made it up and didn't seem to recall what he put in! I so wanted to ask all 3 to stand next to each other, so I could do the slap and poke their eyes!

I asked to close out the tab but think I sound beechy cause they gave me a bill of $34 for 4 drinks on the rox.  Now who on Yelp said the drinks were cheap here??? Fess up!  jaykay

Thank gwad tomorrow is still a drinking night!

I suppose my expectations were not high after reading some of the inconsistent reviews on yelp. But we needed a local bar, and Kitty's was it.

We got there early and had a seat at the bar. The crowd was diverse and dressed very nicely with a great vibe.  The decor is renovated warehouse which really fits with Emeryville's urban renewal theme. Dug it a lot.
We were disappointed that it was cash only Friday and Saturday after 9. (I mean, there really isn't an ATM all that close). So I didn't drink. Sad.

The bartenders were very nice, as was security. Security even checked out the super sketch guy who was honking at people and acting weird down the street. I actually liked the music, until the DJ kept turning it up. We had to go outside to talk, and even there were having trouble hearing.

Though I imagine the patio was likely to be smoker's central, it actually wasn't too bad at all. Could it be that smoking has finally been labeled as the dirty disgusting low-class habit that it is? (study data: smokers and herpes = high correlation). Probably not, but the patio was large enough to accommodate both us and the smoking set so that's awesome.

Overall, pretty good. I'll head back when I remember to have some cash on me.

The only time I was ever abducted by aliens was at Kitty's. Let me explain.

Aliens have visited me in the past; that's a normal thing. Usually they just peek into my windows or do a quick fly-by of my  car as I am driving through the night. Sometimes they wave to me, and I think they smile as they do so. It is hard to tell as our little grey space brothers have nothing you or I would understand as a mouth. Is a slit a mouth? Perhaps.

So! I went to Kitty's to meet with a few lovely work friends. I got an amazing mint-filled  Mojito from the bartender (who, incidentally, looks like the sister of Ana Marie Cox, and is seemingly just as awesome) and joined my friends. Heart flutterings from the bartender aside, Kitty's as always fun to just chill out and chat with the cool people who drop in. And Rotten City Pizza is right around the corner, and its cool to bring in some slices to much on as you drink yourself sober!

I was only halfway through my first and only mojito of the night as the weirdness began. My friends wanted to chill on the patio and I joined them,. Is it a patio or a beer garden? I don't know! But we were outside, drinking. Which is always lovely. Unless you are outside drinking  because you are homeless, I suppose.

The air was full of twilight sounds and smells. The stars were out, all three that you can see in Emeryville, anyway. I told a horrifyingly racist joke, which usually delights my friends, but they didn't laugh this time. In fact, they appeared frozen! I realized that the bar was silent. Everyone was frozen. No cars drove by. No helicopters whirled about. Yet I could still move...for the moment.

I stood up, and a shaft of light enveloped me. I was blinded! I felt myself being lifted up along the beam into what I can only describe as an evening of horror. All orifices were violated, all of my human dignity sacrificed towards a cold and unfeeling alien science that perhaps the black-eyed aliens themselves could only begin to understand.

What seemed like an eternity of pain was a mere five minutes to my friends. I found myself screaming, crying, and confused as I was back at the bar; blood was pouring out of my ears, eyes, and bottom like a sexy water fountain.

My friends stared at me in horror.  "How long was I gone?" I screamed.

They told me I was there the whole time as they called an ambulance. I collapsed on the ground, alternately cold, hot, sweaty, and so, so tired. Yet I was parched...and reached up, begging for my mojito. I was refused my request by well-intentioned friends.

Possibly the worst night of my life. But such a great bar. Can't wait until my ban is lifted so I can go get another one of those yummy mojitos! I hear the raspberry ones are really great.

Love this place! We came here on a Sunday and it was pretty chill. I am pretty sure it's crackin' on the weekdays and stuff but I have to say I like it much better when it isn't too crowded. You can actually have a conversation with people and just hangout. The drinks were really good! Surprisingly, I ordered a raspberry mojito ( I hate mint BTW!) but it was so good and refreshing. Definitely will come back when in the area!

Kitty's is a pretty cool place - you would never know it's there... found it by word of mouth.  I like the outdoor patio area.  Good stiff drinks and some fun/unusual ones, too.  Can get a bit too crowded.  The music is sometimes WAY too loud (left with ringing ears) - my BFF & I were sitting right next to eachother at the bar, and had to YELL at the top of our lungs just to have a conversation (we should have texted eachother).  Fun place, diverse crowd.  Good tunes.  Arty-hipster/yuppies/Urban vibe. Me likey.

I came to Kitty's on a Saturday night. What I really liked about this spot was that, unlike most places in downtown Oakland, there was no cover charge. I didn't even get a nasty ink blob stamped on my hand after I showed my ID. I also liked the chill vibe. There were people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds hanging out with friends, significant others, and co-workers. Some people were really dressed up and others looked like they got released earlier that day from some type of institution. The diverse crowd really gave Kitty's that "everyone is welcome" feel and I really liked that.

Kitty's is split into two areas. The outside patio area has plenty of seating and is cool because you can still hear the DJ through the speakers. The inside area has a bar (with plenty of seating & a couple of booths) and a small dance floor with additional seating for anyone who wants to take a break or just be a party pooper.

As for drinks, there's a one drink minimum per customer, but I didn't really see anyone enforcing this. Also, they only accept cash after 8 pm on the weekends for drinks that range from $6- $9 bucks. I got a mojito & a vodka tonic and both drinks seemed a little watered down to me. After two drinks, I was still alert as hell. I didn't really like this.

I think that Kitty's has a lot of potential to be great. For now, this place needs a little bit of work. I think some art on the walls would make the place so much prettier. Cleaning the bathrooms throughout the night would help, too. Also, the DJ was all over the place with the jams and it felt like everyone was playing musical chairs. One minute, there was a great song that got everybody up and then something random came on and the dance floor was empty. Some consistency would've been nice. Lastly, we left pretty early but I can see from the other reviews that cops love to stalk this joint until it closes. Be careful and make sure you have a DD or you are fully sober when its time to go home, there are a lot of cops patrolling the area.

we came here after going to some other bars, so it was already around 12:30am. I guess I can't say if it's good or not because it was already at capacity so we couldn't get in. (i guess you could assume it was good, since it was so crowded) but honestly i've never been turned away from any bar/lounge or club.

i'd like to try going there, and would write another review.

A great place to go with friends hang out, have some drinks and if the mood strikes you to dance. This is a place when you want to have fun, but not necessarily get all dressed up , wait in line forever, spend all your money, and barely enjoy your self.
You go here when you want to unwind, dress comfortable, have money for your rent, and actually be able to talk to the person standing next to you.
The deck is a extra extra plus, fresh air is a major thing in bars!!

I have been to Kitty's a handful of times.

This bar definitely has some good things going for it, including:
+ I love the industrial warehouse feel - very hip.
+/- Their raspberry mojito is yummy but only if made by certain bartenders.  The mojito making is inconsistent which is surprising because that is the one drink I always hear people talking about as their "signature".
+ I have definitely had a good time getting my groove on with friends.

As for the things that I don't care for:
- The line for the bathroom is always super duper long, which I don't think is because the women who go to this bar have to pee more often than the women at other bars. I think it may be that there is only one stall.  Boo.
- Why do the smokers always get the cool outdoor patio?  I would love to enjoy the patio but I don't want to get lung cancer.  Bleh.

A super chill neighborhood spot with cheap drinks, a beautiful bartendress and good friends.  The columnar patio heaters outside open the whole area to lounging at any time, so you can move freely inside and out.

They carry some single malts (had my way with a Laphroiag 12), though their draft selection is a little aenemic.  actually that's probably my only complaint: alcohol selection's a tiny bit thin.  But this is an awesome bar otherwise.

LOVE IT! You would never know it was there. Found out about it threw word of mouth. And I'm happy I did it's free to get in and the drinks are great. Music is to die for and the people are so cool. It can get a little crowded at times. But other then that so the place to be. Rather it's a friday or sunday night. You will have a blast so go get the girls put on a cute but not dressie out fit and get ready to have a ball. Oh yea there is parking but its kind of wack.

I came here for happy hour last Friday and I was quite surprised with the size and overall vibe of the place.  I wasn't sure what to expect really.  I have driven by this place countless times and was always curious to step in but I'm not sure what stopped me.  After finally experiencing it for myself, I can say that I enjoyed the experience.

When you first walk in, you see the nice open back patio which would've been a great place to sit and chat over a few during happy hour but unfortunately all of the seats and tables were taken.  I took a seat inside with my roommate while we waited for the rest of our friends.  A DJ was spinning mostly modern tunes in the back corned, loud enough to provide some background noise but not so much so that you coudn't carry on a conversation.  The crowd looked pretty diverse with a lot of young professional types probably from around the area mixed with some older regulars as well.

The drinks were okay and priced moderately to high depending on if you get well drinks or the good stuff.  The bartenders were friendly enough and fairly efficient, but it wasn't terribly busy while we were there which was nice.  The bathrooms were actually pretty clean which is a rare thing now unfortunately, but there being only one of each, I can see how that could get annoying when the lines start to pile up.  One thing I would've liked would have been some window shades as I was sitting facing the setting sun, being blinded with the last hour and a half of sunlight.  I might have to check this place out on a weekend night, but it has my seal of approval for happy hour.

This is by far the best bar in the East Bay if not the Bay Area. The drinks are hella good. If you haven't had a mojito there, you are seriously missing out. They are so strong and deliciously minty and yummy. The Spanish Rose is also a favorite if you like Gin like I do. They also have a drink menu which has some other goodies on it too. The bartenders are really nice and super easy on the eyes. OMG Ladies...come on a monday..they are hot!!! Even the door guys are cute and friendly.

The patio is great. They have heat lamps. If you come after work you get a great mix of people, especially Friday early. I heard people congregate there on the weekends too and bar-be-que. Some bring their dogs. It's a very cool local vibe.

I've been on busy weekends too and I've never had to wait outside. I don't know why some people on here keep saying that. I'm sure the waiting has to do with capacity and not because they are trying to hype the place up. This place isn't snooty like that.

The Dj's are great too. The guy on Saturday nights is really working it back there. It's very impressive to watch and of course the music is great. The dance floor gets a bit crowded but it's so fun who cares.

All in all I LOVE this bar!!!!

Went to Kitty's for the first time this past monday....the atmosphere is great, nice attractive bar. I found the bar tenders to be fast and helpful. I know some others had a bad experience with them, but were good night i went. oh they have weird beers....ones i'd never heard of, I think european or something? He'd say "this one is like Heiniken, this one is like corona..." and i thought why not just have the ones I like? They didnt have Red Stripe jamacian beer on a reggae night wahhhh.

the reggae music was very good! the sound was good and the song choices were great. the women were friendly and sometimes that doesnt happen when you are a woman yourself. not sure if they were as friendly to the men lol but they were quite friendly to me.

lil outside patio area, though it was raining, seemed 420 friendly that night.

MAJOR WARNING!!!! The cops in this area are sick, demented and bored as hell! be warned!! Im not joking. As soon as the club closed about 4 cop cars including a giant SUV just harassing people. They'd pull up to a persons parked car, when the person had just got in or started to put their key in the door!

I got followed and survived an hours worth of drunk tests and questioning. Was very upsetting and stressful. Was so scared. He did not do a breath test, but did all the other walking straight line while counting etc, like a episode of Cops! ahhhh. and questioned the hell out of me....wnted to know every medication I take, when last doses were, what they are for, when I last ate (damn i was hungry, but did i look like it?), ummm what day it is, what time it is, what type of glasses I wear, if Im diabetic, etc on and on and on. He was writing supposedly on a lil tiny piece of paper....not sure how he could fit all my answers and wondered if he was doodling! ha.

anyway, because of this experience I'd have VERY hard time going back to Kitty's. I think even totally sober you'd get hell from them. so be careful. You are pretty much trapped when you leave too cause its kinda tucked away in a corner and the cops had the mellow calm club surrounded! ahhh crazy.

Why isn't there a Zero star option? This place deserves it. Worst drink I've ever had.

Go to the Kona Club in Oakland instead; better atmosphere, better Jukebox, cheaper drinks, better people. Less sleaze and stupidity.

Ah, Kitty's. I've only been here a handful of times, and I always ALWAYS end up vomiting afterward. The crowd is weird. The bar is decorated well, but somehow comes across as cold. I can never get comfortable here.

What gives, Kitty's?

Last night I met a nice gent who told all of us ladies that he lived and died for "sucking and licking on pussies."

Maybe that's why I vomited when I got home?

So after yelping for a couple days & backtracking some awesome spots dishing out 5s.. I think to myself.. what's the first place that comes to mind that I've had horrible experiences at ..

Kitty's (mind you I've given them 8-10 different occasions to change my mind over a span of a couple years). So I'll break it down to you like this.. Here's why:

First off, what's friggin annoying as all hell is even on the weekends, they have you waiting for over 30-45 minutes outside only letting in the same amount of people headed out saying that there's no space (which is a bucket full of shnizz when you can see straight into the bar from outside & directly into the patio through the fence & see that it's anything but).. Don't get me wrong, I understand why all clubs & bars do it, but seriously, this isn't the city or San Jose where the clubs & bars are ACTUALLY packed.. I do admit that I've been here where it has been jizzed w/ a clusterfudge of people w/ no space at the bar or dance floor (which is already small enough).. So please, don't have people waiting out in the nipple nipping cold hella longer than is necessary on days that you really aren't busy.. If there was any other club/bar within a 10 minute drive.. your lines you purposely create would probably cut to the next spot with the quickness.. but fortunate for you, there isn't..

Their selection of beer is the worst I've ever seen (4 beers on tap, a good chance you're accustomed to none of them) & two separate occasions, I ordered the same drink I usually always order, & they charged me for different amounts both times.. Out of all their bartenders that have helped me there, all but 2 were impatient, rude & were not as attentive as they should be..

Bar is cash only Friday & Saturday nights after 9PM to rack up their one ATM usage charge which I believe is $3.50? NOT cool, Minus points..

The DJ is hit or miss.. never great.. there have been a few times my whole group walked out of line, bought a bottle, & headed to someone's house just because of their unnecessary wait & the DJ spinnin' music that people neither wanted to dance to, nor even cared to listen to..

The decor is nothing out of the ordinary.. if you're lucky enough to get through their crowded dance floor, there's one men's restroom & one for ladies.. you can imagine how that is.. they have a spacious outside patio with plenty of seating w/ heat lamps which is a plus (but not nearly enough to get bumped up to 2 with everything considered)..

Kitty's, you make new born babies cry ..

My +1 Angela suggested we head over to Kitty's after the Yelp Elite Ugly Christmas Sweater Party and I now can say, "Yes, son, I have been to a dive bar before".

Last night was entirely too cold to be in a big ass warehouse sipping Lemon Drops. They were pretty cool cocktails except for all the big ass chunks of sugar that kept getting stuck to my lip gloss. WTF.

Cool spot to come after a GREAT PARTY or for a quick drink for the road and I did develop a new skill, ignoring incredibly high men who called me and another woman a Cougar. I guess that was a compliment.

Honestly, the bathroom was a mess but the lady knitting made me feel all warm and fuzzy. Does that even make sense?

huh. I look at this place and I think...huh. Who are the people that come here? Emeryville dot-commers? If so, who the hell are they?

Before I went there, I had heard that the service sucked. So I walk up to the bar and I got helped in about 3 or 4 minutes. Not too bad. Then J. Scott went to order a round and was promptly ignored...for a good 15 minutes. It got pretty funny. It took his wife to stand next to him to get any attention.

There was about 50 people at the bar and only one bartender, who had zero sense of urgency.

The place looks cool in a "Hey, let's turn this little warehouse in to a bar" sort of way.

Music was decent. Gotta try it again to see if it was just a rough night.

I'm not a huge fan of this place. Weekend are always crackin' here, with a DJ and full bar and (barely) enough room to dance. Although they don't have a cover, which is great, the lines are fairly long and they only let you in as more people come out.

Its fairly small inside, so plan on rubbing up on other people, and them rubbing up on you. The drinks are high priced, like $7-10 for a mix drink, which is usually more ice than anything else.

The outside patio area is really nicely decorated, sad to say for me its probably the highlight.

Kitty's is a cool place. Nice crowd and the drinks aren't badly priced. It's near my house which is nice. They play good music and there is a small dance floor. Best part is that they have an outdoor patio/lounge area. Great place to hang out after work or on the weekends. Parking is easy to find on the street.

I was back at Kitty's for the first time in a long time a month or two ago, and I did not like my mojito. Instead of muddling the mint, the bartender just put an entire garden's worth into my drink. This is not OK because:

1) It doesn't provide the mintyness I require
2) it takes up room booze could be taking up
3) It makes it harder to drink because the mint keeps plugging up the straw and/or getting in your mouth, depending on how you're drinking it

I used to date a truly psycho guy who lived near Kitty's. I must admit that this experience could be coloring my review. I'm talking change my phone number crazy. He put a tracker n my computer that emailed him every key stroke. He was totally certifiable. I hope he is dead now.

Being outside or even inside near the outside totally sucks because everyone is smoking evil dirty cigarettes!

Anyway, Kitty's would be fun if you were there with someone you actually liked and you had a buzz going on. I also remember the food being very good.

I so want to like this place. Britt D. drags me here all the time (mostly because it's close) and every time I'm kinda "meh" about it.

Positives: The music is always great.
The drinks have never failed me.
There isn't a cover.
I haven't had to wait in line...yet.

So for that kitty's you got 3 stars from me...BUT we have,

Negatives: The bartenders always seem to be slammed even with only
a few customers there.
The men here leave something to be desired.
The bathroom ALWAYS has a massive line so beware if
you're an 'ever-30-minute tinkler'.

The over all vibe of this joint is just kind of random. I'm sure I will go back because I go where angry black women make me, but each time I walk in the door I will cross my fingers that tonight will be the night I wanna add a few stars to my review.

Weird...

This place was the happy hour spot for all of us folks who commute to the Emeryville for employment. It's not bad for that purpose. The servers are attentive and the booze is decently priced. There's plenty of parking (a plus) although the location is in the industrial part of the city (but where isn't). And like all happy hour joints, by 9pm, you're done. Sad sign of old age *sigh*

Swing back around @ 10 after a food pit stop, and the crowd has changed dramatically. It's like all of the East Bay party goers who don't have enough money to cross the bridge.

All right, all right.... in the grand world of bars and clubs, Kitty's is not high on my list of great or good ones. But, it is in my neighborhood, oh-so-conveniently walking distance, so I gotta give it some love on Yelp.

I have only gone on the weekends when I was feeling lazy to trek to the city or get really dressed up. The music is hit or miss sometimes, but I don't mind sitting at the bar with a couple of friends until some good songs come on.

There's a nice outdoor space for the smokers or some cool night air. Dance floor is small but manageable. As for drinks, I recommend NOT ordering from their drink list, unless herbs and alcohol somehow strike your fancy. Even I, huge mojito fan, found mint sneaking up my straw every sip a little bit too herbal-y. Don't even get me started on their one basil drink. Now, if you ordered a drink without leaves in it, the bartenders make it quick, decently priced, and tasty.

I wanted to give Kitty's a 5, but I couldn't justify it in my mind. And that's because of all the lurkers I have encountered at Kitty's. While I appreciate the diverse characters who go to Kitty's, I wish more were less creepy.

Oh, and their cash-only policy on the weekends drives me a little bit crazy.

I used to hit Kitty's at least twice a week.

No.. I am not alcoholic, I just live half a block away. Emeryville needed a place for people to stumble home. Kitty's was it.

It used to be great place, kindna mellow. I knew the bartender back then. Great music, and if you feel like it, you can dance to the music.

Then it all changed, it started when a few of my friends and I decied to walk down to Kitty's to have a few drinks, we were told it is over capacity, and we have to wait. It is only freaking 11:30pm, and this is my joint! Then came the police raid; then came the sketchy people; then came the long line outside the place on weekends; I even saw a limo a few times..... I have lost my neighborhood bar!  =(

I still go there once a while, mostly on Wednesday night because it is dead, I can walk in and get a drink without waiting for ever.

I went to this bar for the first time on St. Patrick's Day because i have a few friends that went there enough to know the bartenders Joe & Chris.

Im not a big fan of bars though this one wasnt bad.  Music was playing in the background but not loud enough where you couldnt carry a conversation.  The place did get a bit packed though we got seats at the bar and the patio outside looked pretty chill place to enjoy.

Nonetheless i had a pretty good time with our Jason Mraz lookalike bartender Mika (sp?).  My friend's bartender Joe came in and probably because of him we got hooked up for our drinks and at the end the bill just came out to be $18.
