My wife and I love this place. Often we get it to go, but we stopped in the other night after a trip to Borders.
I don't know about the service but I've never been disappointed by the curry dishes (YUM) and the Pad-Sew-E is among the best I've tasted. Plus they have a real depth to their menu with lots of cool and interesting choices. . .
I would seriously stop in (or carry out) if your in the mood for good thai.
Also the Thai Iced tea is good (after a few run-ins with bad Thai Ice tea, its nice to have a solid one)

I live and work down the street and come here often. The food here is really good. Wouldn't say it is anything amazing though. I love the Kang Dang Chicken, a curry with coconut milk and eggplant.
The resturant is very small and probably only fits about 10 tables inside and 4 outside in good weather. But they do deliver and do takeout as well.
Pricing is medium, I've seen better for Thai but if you plan it well and get a lunch special you'll save some money.

I go here every sunday and pick up my drunken noodle with Chicken. Bar far the best Pad Thai and Drunken Noodle in this area. The price can't be beat either.

I've been converted. Ever since Galangal closed down I've been pretty pissed trying to find decent Thai food around the area. We only order takeout from here but it's amazing. Lemongrass chicken with other weirdly named foods that are so good it's making my mouth water just thinking about. Noodles are great and the spicy dishes are really truly spicy!
Very tasty and a large selection on the menu, run by a family in a small little corner of a strip mall. Seats maybe 20 people with more seating outside.
Not cheap, not expensive and good portions.
Though I used to be a big fan of this nice Thai restaurant, Lately their quality has gone down a bit. Their Green Curry Chicken was my favorite, but last few times I have tried it, it was simply bland. wasn't bad, but ok. Their Iced Tea and iced coffee are always consistent. They seem to be doing really well and last year they have expanded to now cover two rooms. The place also has outside seating during summer.
Again a nice place to take a date or friends out but in my opinion for the quality, there are other places better than Kit's

Had takeout from here tonight. Ordered the red and green curries (both chicken), pork laab, spring rolls and coconut sticky rice. The curries were good, but nothing outstanding. I felt like there was a flavor missing that I couldn't place. They were both spicy enough, just lacking some umami type flavor I guess. The pork laab was really good, probably some of the best I've had in NYC/NJ at least. Spicy, lots of flavor and good texture. Mmm. The coconut sticky rice was ok, I've had better and I'm somewhat obsessed with it as a dessert, but it was definitely edible and I'd probably eat it again if I was craving it. Overall it was pretty good, nothing mind blowing here, but great if you are craving Thai and don't want to trek out of your way to the city.
I like Kits Thai and have never had a bad meal there and I have perused the menu for about 2 years now. Food is fresh, fairly priced and prepared on the spot, the staff is happy, friendly, if not a little spaced out. Not enough seats means I usually take out (always ready on time) and have found the portions are perfect, always a little left over for a late night snack.
not that i ever do that mind you
Now having had Kit's a few more times, I can say...
-The trick to pad thai is order it spicy (YUM)
-all curry dishes are delicious, try them all
-beef dishes tend not to be as good as chicken/duck/veggies in my opinion
-papaya salad.. .refreshing and interesting! (and spicy too!)

word,
My journey to Kits started when I came home for Christmas from San Francisco. My girlfriend came with me who is originally from Thailand. When she came to visit my family she learned what traditionally WASP food is which included: roast chicken, meatloaf, brisket, and such. After a week or so she was jonesing for any kind of asian style food.
So I heard from a friend about Kits and decided to check it out. We came in and found the food to be very good. The curries were good and not too sweet, which is common in most American Thai restaurants. I had the duck because I'm a sucker for duck. The larb (which is a sorta spicy meat salad) was good as well. The food staff is friendly and accommodating. My girlfriend likes her food very very spicy and after taking to the owner in Thai got them to use the extra spicy Thai chillies and oyster sauce.
All and all good stuff
yups

So good. Always a go-to place for after work. Fried rice is distinctive and tasty-- big servings! Their pad thai is delicious but the drunken noodle is AMAZING. The restaurant itself is smalish, with a cozy home-cooked dinner feel. It wasn't particularly cheap, but you get a lot for the price.
great thai food, huge portions, nice size menu-- can't wait to go back and devour some more spicy noodles. Delish!
Best Thai in Stamford by far! It's nice to come here for dinner, and in the summer time you can eat outside (though it can be a little loud from the traffic passing by). They do delivery too, but it always takes soooo long. The best dish is definitely the drunken noodles, as other reviewers have pointed out. Get it with chicken and get it spicy! Other things to try are the Gai Takra (chicken wrapped in pandan leaf and fried), the Yam Woosen, and Plar Gong (really delicious, like a refreshing shrimp salad). It's easy to find, just look for the bright yellow house on High Ridge!

BEST THAI FOOD IN STAMFORD...PERIOD!
Finally! Good Thai food in Stamford! Went to this place with friends last night and had a very satisfying experience. The prices are a bit high for Thai food IMO, but the ingredients are very fresh and the portions are large. You definitely get what you pay for.
Recommendations:
-Papaya Salad (refreshing and spicy)
-Panang Curry w/ Shrimp (good portion of large, plump, perfectly cooked shrimp)
-DRUNKEN NOODLES with Chicken! (their best dish, hands down! Savory, sweet, and lots of heat....i'm such a poet...)
-Ner Yang (grilled beef salad appetizer with a tangy tamarind dressing)
Avoid:
-Ka Nom Jeeb (bascially, little shu mai-esque dumplings)
-Pad Thai (wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't great. get the drunken noodles instead)

This has become the go-to Thai place for me in Stamford. The food is always of extremely high quality and very fresh. The extensive menu contains plenty of standard Thai fare and some more creative innovations. The service is very friendly and the kitchen is definitely willing to alter menu items to suit your tastes and dietary needs.
I've tried many of the curries and stir fries and have never been disappointed. I would highly recommend the Penang and Gang Dang Red curries and the Pad-Pong Ka-Ree stirfry. For apps, try the Crystal Rolls - when we get take out I usually get these for a light lunch the next day! They are packed with crunchy veggies and shrimp and come with a great sweet peanut sauce. I also enthusiastically recommend the Yam Ner, grilled beef seasoned with lime juice and cilantro, with cucumbers, peppers, scallions, tomatoes and chilies - so delicious and very rich yet not overpowering or overly heavy flavor. If you have leftovers, it tastes really good cold the next day!
Minus one star because delivery can take for-e-va. Last time it was 1 1/2 hours because the guy was supposedly waiting in the lobby for 1/2 an hour but never called us! However, it is definitely worth the wait. And while it's probably pricier than your average take out joint, the food is sit-down restaurant quality and definitely worth it. Dining in at the resturant is much quicker and it is never very full, as most of their orders tend to be pick up and delivery. Pick up can at times be a nightmare because they aren't always the most organized, so sometimes it is just quicker to go and eat in!

Great place with good food. The dishes had good variety and the appetizers impressed me far more than the entrees. Good beer selection as well. Definite thumbs up.
The food here is packed with flavor, especially the spicy dishes. I should note that their version of spicy actually has a good degree of heat in comparison to what other asian restaurants consider spicy (Does anyone REALLY consider general gao's chicken spicy??).
Anyway, my favorite dish there is the Drunken Noodles, which I get with tofu - don't get me wrong, I'm a meat person but the fried chunks of tofu are great. Also tried the Salmon Ginger upon the server's recommendation - the flavor was very good, but the salmon was overcooked unfortunately and had the consistency of a fully cooked tuna steak. Maybe that was a one-time thing though. Also, you can't really go wrong with any of the curries.
Price-wise, it's pretty high IMO, but it might be normal for this area. I think the majority of main dishes are $12-$20, which is higher than what I'm used to ($6-$10 for awesome Thai food @ Rod Dee in the Boston area), but on the plus side, the servings are pretty generous.

A real Stamford gem! I love this place. This is the best Thai food in Stamford for sure.
Try the Por Pia Tod (vegetarian spring rolls) for an appetizer. They are delish! I just LOVE the homemade sauce you dip them in. Sometimes I go to Kit's just to get these! They could be a meal in themselves, as the main dishes are pretty big. Might be a good idea to get an appetizer or two and split a main dish with someone, unless you love leftovers.
I love the tofu here, which you can get to substitute any meat on the menu. The pieces are big and the flavor really soaks in!
This place is the BEST in the spring and summer when it's comfortable eating on their patio. Ok, so the view isn't fantastic (a conjested main road), but there are plants and a fountain out there which gives it this little hidden garden oasis feel. Sorta. Well, the people watching is fun at least!

I tried take out from here a few months ago.
I hate to disagree with the majority, but I found the Pad Thai to be really one dimensional and monotonous. It was particularly drab and unexciting, although I think I remember the quality of the shrimp was very good. If a thai place has a pad thai that tastes like a Chinese place made it, I usually don;t give it a 2nd try...
Kit's Thai Kitchen has been my favorite restaurant in Stamford, since moving here approximately 3.5 weeks ago. I've tried three other Thai restaurants and none of them were able to de-thrown Kit's.
With Kit's, it's the whole package that really shines. Their restaurant is esthetically pleasing, and quite inviting. We sat outside on a cool, early October evening. I was excited the moment we walked up because it immediately looked like it had the potential to be better than the first Thai joint I went to in Stamford, Galangal. For their guests who prefer to eat ouside, they have seating inside a pretty little courtyard with a surrounding stone wall and flowers that secludes it's diners from the highspeed traffic of High Ridge Road. The seating area outside has old, weathered teak furtniture that blends well with the stone wall surrounding the courtyard. On our evening at Kit's they were using outdoor heaters to keep their patrons warm.
Our waiter greeted us with a very friendly, casual style. After a close inspection of the menu, I defaulted to my favorite dish, Massaman Curry Chicken. My mother had Shrimp Pad Thai and my dad had a chicken and noodles dish that I can't remember the name of. We ordered some sticky rice to go with our food.
When the entres came out, their presentation was beautiful. My mother's Pad Thai was beautifully prepared with lots of bean sprouts and peanut crumbles. The shrimp were very ample in size, and there were many to be had. We were actually very impressed with the quality and quantity of the shrimp. So often Thai restaurants skimp on shrimp in Pad Thai and serve a few tiny, quarter size shrimps. This entre had over ten easily.
My dish was absolutely delicious. It was one of the most beautifully prepared Massaman Curry Chicken entres I've ever had. The sauce was rish and delicate at the same time. It had a wonderfully sweet taste with just enough spice to bite you at the end. I enjoy spicey foods, but I don't like to be completely ovewhelmed, to the point that I can't taste my food. This dish's spice factor was perfect, in the sense that it had spice, but the flavors of the dish were not drowned out in the hotness. The only thing preventing this dish from being absolutely perfect in my book is sweet potato. Some restaurants leave it out of their Massaman, but I've really grown to like it in my Massaman, so I'm always a little let down when I don't get any. Fortunately, the dish stood on it's own even without the sweet potato.
My father's dish was delicious as well, but since I can't remember the name, or the basic ingredients, there's no point in going on about it.
We all really enjoyed their sticky rice. It was a perfect dish, prepared better than any I've had before. It was served warm and had a sweet, warm, delightful taste that made you wish you had ordered it after your meal. Next time I'll probably order it again, but I'll wait until after my meal to do so.
Their prices were reasonable, and the service was excellent. I only went inside to use the restroom and to get a business card. From what I saw, it seemed nice inside as well. Their restroom was clean and well designed. It seemed like they really care about the details.
If you really apprecaite a Thai restaurant with good atmosphere, great service, and excellent food, then you should do yourself a favor and visit Kit's Thai Kitchen.
I enjoy thai food and the food at kit's is always great. You can pretty much pick anything blindly off the menu and it will be delicious. They give you tons of foods when you dine-in but I think less when you take out. Its a cute sit-down place but a bit on the small side. The service is always good and the food comes out maybe 5 minutes after you order it. I don't know how they do it. Friends have told me that Kit's is the best pad thai they've ever had and I would have to agree that its in the top 3.
Kit's is a great choice for people who value quality ingredients and preparation. No MSG. No hydrogenated oils. High quality chicken in the dishes. I really enjoyed the chicken pad thai.
I'd give about four stars for the food, but the prices necessitated one star off. Loved the green papaya salad (I enjoy the sensation of burning lips) and my prig khing with tofu was good, though I've had better pretty much everywhere else I've eaten it. I was dying for a beer, but they wanted $5 for a Singha...no way, dude.

DRUNKEN NOODLE-must get drunken noodles, they are a bit spicy, but as good as it gets!!!!!!!!! They are my favorite dish in the whole wide world!
Good thai food, good service, and a reasonable price. The outdoor seating is also a plus, although it did feel like Kit was staring at me the whole meal - there's an Andy Warhol-esque collage of her face adorning the outside of the (extremely yellow) building.
Really good Thai food - took off a star for price. I had delivery but it's a cute little restaurant - but more like a dive than a nice place. The counter staff was very friendly.
very good food a bit pricey but good.
i dunno what the deal with that first review was.. i like kit's thai kitchen. okay, well, there was one time i got the chicken larb, which tasted to me a little like... cat food. i mean, it obviously *wasn't* cat food, but it just didn't taste... good. and the pad thai was nothing to write home about. but everything else has been tasty. i like the curry noodles with tofu or chicken. the chicken wrapped in pandan leaf (an appetizer) was excellent. so is the tom ka gai (coconut broth with chicken and vegetables). their ingredients always seem very fresh. oh yeah... and there was that incident with the incendiary green papaya salad. they asked my bf to inform them how spicy he would like it, i believe on a scale of 1 to 5. he said 3, and the salad was so incredibly spicy it was practically inedible. the inside of kit's is very cute, and they just expanded into the store next door. they also do take out.
