6 reviews for Kitchen Kabaret Fine Foods
For breakfast, you should not pass up Kitchen Kabaret. Their omelettes are fresh and made to order (I recommend the egg white variety), and the coffee selection is immense.
Other reviewers mentioned it being overpriced, which is true. It is not outrageous, though, given the area, and the freshness of the food.
Rarely (As my loyal readers know) is there a place that blows me away in variety and substance. This place has both and then some. I give it an A+ for many different reasons but here are a few. 8 different kinds of rice at the deli counter. A fully stocked fridge with every kind of cold soda you can imagine. Amazing staff of people (one guy in particular helped me select my whole dinner by hand!).
Here's what I had (I went with a mix and match setup):
1.) Penna Alla Vodka
2.) Teriyaki Chicken with seared cooked noodles
3.) Chicken Arrabiata with spiced marinara
4.) Mixed rice with veggies
5.) Gratis - Small house salad and bread roll (included with "staying indoors")
6.) Dr. Browns (Black Cherry)
Total amount: $18.10
Its pricey I know but you are paying for quality gourmet food here, I would not have gone to try it otherwise.
The Teriyaki chicken alone was worth the trip. It had a distinct flavor that would not back done from invading your taste buds and it was not overcooked at all. The chicken Arrabiata was bathed in a flavorful marinara sauce which had a bit of spice to it and it went well with the mixed rice and veggies. The penne ala vodka I thought was the weakest of the group because it was simply outnumbered by all the other dishes, not to mention the spicy marinara sauce.
All in all it was still a big meal for the price and I felt I got my moneys worth no question.
As I was walking around I found a coffee stand that trumped many of the specialty coffee shops I've been to (but not all) It had tons of varied coffees, all for very reasonable prices. I decided to try the Godiva chocolate and strawberries brew with some skim milk and sugar. Delicious! Price for a small (12oz): $1.51 (That's less then a Starbucks short cup!!).
Excellent service, excellent food - but be prepared to pay for it. Always bustling, this is a quintessential Long Island Deli. Everything you get here is lip-smacking delicious and there's an enormous variety - you'll end up walking out here with way too much food because your eyes will definitely be bigger than your stomach.
The only downside (aside from the $$) is that it's right next to the LIE and not close to much else, so to get to it is a trek unless you're enroute somewhere.

Prepare to have your mouth water because once you walk into this place your eyes will go back and forth looking at all the possibilities! The selection is fabulous...you have so many choices...whether it's pizza, a salad, a hot plate. There is a bakery section and it's more gourmet I would say. It's a must of places to try!
Good food and selection but WAAAAY overpriced.
A cafe / gourmet deli with a lot of take out and heat and eat items, the place has something for everyone.
Good in a pinch if you want to grab some stuff on the way to a BBQ but definitely not the place to for daily take out.

so over-rated... if you park in the back the entry smells like a cesspool and they're food never tastes fresh. insanely overpriced as well.
