Love the entertainment -- drag queen shows are awesome, especially if they look just absolutely gorgeous. ^_- The food is okay (otherwise the place would have gotten five stars from me).

My friends and I had the crab cakes; I've had better crab cakes. I did, however, enjoy the filet mignon. That was good. Tried the chocolate martini, but I enjoyed the French martini more -- possibly because I'm not exactly a fan of sweets and/or chocolate (Shocking, I know).

They also have a tarot card reader here on some nights. I got a reading once. It was pretty interesting.

I recently got into Mad Men (TV series), and you know what? Now that I think about it, I think the Kit Kat Lounge looks like some place out of the 60s (but this is only based on what I know from TV since I wasn't even alive back then). It's got a classy and elegant yet somewhat rowdy edge to it. I like it though, and luckily for me, the place is within walking distance of my apartment.

On a Saturday night, this place was deader than Michael Jackson.

The music had awkward pauses between songs, which people (I use the term loosely, because there were five other people there who were all friends with the bartender) took advantage of to yell awkward things. Um, no.

Saw an employee put his SHOES on a table. SHOES. Dirty-soled shoes!!!! NO NO NO NO! I'm assuming all of their tables are covered in shit/piss/vomit because of this.

The martini list is extensive, but you can tell the waiters think you're a dumbshit for ordering a certain flavor.  After I placed my initial order, the waiter gave me a look, which prompted me to go "Oh, how is it?" to which he said "Umm, it's ooooooo-kay..." Obviously, I changed my order after asking him what was good.  Luckily, it turned out to be a good choice (unlike going to this bar in the first place).

Speaking of the waiter, he wasn't friendly. We were obviously first-time visitors to the place and he didn't bother suggesting anything! On a list of 70 martinis, you should probably start recommending shit to people who are eager to get their drink on. Just sayin'.  Especially if you're waiting ONE table on a Saturday night. Do you not even care about getting a tip?

Also, there was no drag performer (despite what the calendar said), there was trash on the floor, AND the place smelled of formaldehyde/dentist office.

All in all, this place was a HORRIBLE choice and I will not be returning or recommending this to anyone (except for Ohio State fans). I give it zero stars and suggest that it be renamed to the Shit Shat Lounge.

like rupaul, i have one thing to say: you. better. WORK! this place is amazeballs; the very thought of kit kat makes me giddy with delight.

the main attraction: the divas. these ladies are truly top notch. words really can't describe how wonderful they are, but i'll try. first off, they're hot! secondly, they really pull off the celebrity impersonations - the singing, the dancing, the mannerisms - they've got it all down. i've been fortunate enough to see ms. traci ross a few times, and she is excellent. rihanna, tina, eve, mya, whitney - you name a diva, she serves it up. expect a new diva to appear every 20 minutes or so.

the drinks: with over 70 martinis to choose from, you'll be sure to find something that piques your interest, even if you're not a martini lover. you name it, they have it - bitter, sweet, sour, fruity, dry, chocolaty - the list goes on and on. plus, sunday and tuesday nights are 1/2 priced martini nights. $5 for some of the best martinis on earth? you can't beat that. plus, you avoid all the bachelorette parties storming kit kat on the weekends.

the food: i've only sampled an appetizer here and there since i usually only come for drinks and the show, but what i've tasted - crab cakes, calamari, chicken satay - has been decent.

no matter what you come to kit kat for - dinner, drinks or the show, i think it's pretty hard not to have a good time.

Pricey for what you get. The food is ehh, so-so, I would say not very reflective of the quality though. I suppose the atmosphere is ok to kcick off a fun night on the town every two years or so.

I love drag shows! What better way to see one than to have a swanky dinner and fabulous cocktails too! What's great about the Kit Kat is that it's not like you have to sit and watch a whole long show. A few times an hour, while you are eating and drinking, BEAUTIFUL drag performers come out and do a number in the middle of the restaurant (it's a small room, no bad seats.) These ladies are always fierce. They totally nail whatever drag impression they set out to do. Totally professional!
I also love the somewhat "mod" decor.

I'm not a fan of drag shows.  Honestly, I just don't get it.  So, when a friend called and invited me to cocktails in the "private room" for his partner's birthday, I told him I would be there but in my mind I was thinking "oh God".

This place is nice.  My only problem is the "private room" is not so private.  It's in the back of the lounge by the bathrooms.  So all of the other patrons are constantly passing through the party on their way to relieve themselves.  Other than that, the drinks were good.  I had the Lobster Mac-n-cheese appetizer which was delicious.

The entertainment, whose name escapes me, was good.  Every 20 minutes they perform 2 songs. He/She (not really sure about the proper pronoun) was very pretty/handsome (not sure about the proper adjective either).  All in all, I had a good time.

a solid 3 stars. go here if your babes are turning 21, or if your best babe just broke up with her boyfriend. you can also bring your mom here, if she's into this sort of thing.

+female impersonators are, more often than not, entertaining. and i mean that just in general.
-drinks were kind of pricey.
+was here for a friends bday. they served cake. it was delish.
+project runway thursday nights.
-kind of weird that a lot of the gentlemen working here look alike. alarmingly so. genetic dress codes freak me out.

I've been here a total of 2 times and the first time was by accident, this past time was a friend's birthday. The place has amazing martinis, not to mention that they have a 3 page or more menu filled with different types....their Martinis alone are worth 1 star. However, everything else was just poor.

Now grant it, the show itself was entertaining, but I guess we just expected more. It was only one performer headlining the night we were there and she only came out for one song, would take 20 minutes to do a wardrobe change and mingle, then come out again. We expected back to back performances, but what we got was 5 songs in the span of 2 hours. Ms. Cole was great, but the set list could have been better.

The food is just a mish mosh of randomness...there really isn't anything I can even say about the food, because honestly you eat there because you're really there for the performance. If this place didn't have a live performance and was just a regular old restaurant I think it would have closed awhile ago. Did I mention that my friend's risotto might as well have been another form of cheese and rice, plus it had full chunks of cheez its in it. No joke...that's just weird.

But the worst part to me, really was the service. Now mind you , I realize that our waiter had no interest in flirting with a table of girls, but he literally would walk by us when clearly we didn't have water and that we were ready to order more drinks. He was rude and just didn't seem to give a rat's a$$!

This place did it's job in deflowering my friend from being a drag virgin, but you can bet that we'll try the baton room next time.

What a turd.

I mean...a big pile of steaming poo.

My friends and I are pretty new to the city-life and we were curious what kind of chill loungey places the city offered for a nice Saturday night out.  We stumbled upon Kit Kat Lounge through yelp.  It looked great!  About a million martini's to choose from, drag-queens, all wrapped up in a laid-back atmosphere.  I mean....what more could you ask for.

So we walk in.  The atmosphere looks great at first glance.  However, looking closer shows how grotesque the place actually is.  It was surprising to see how dirty the tables were, even with the large mass of three other people who had the same idea to come to this turd.  We graciously seat ourselves, when we are greeted by what seems to be the most impersonal, impatient waiter ever.  Wow!  We feel so welcome already!

I sit gazing at the large projector screens of swirling colors, trying to distract myself from looking at the workers who are putting their work-boots on a similar table to one I am about to drink my martini off of.  Well that's just sanitary now isn't it?

I also look at my friends at the table who have a similar look of disgust at the place we have just entered.  We discuss how we're going to leave a horrible review for this poo-pocket of a place.

I order a martini: A cotton candy one.  This is, of course, after my friend asks the waiter about the drink she is about to order.  To which he replys, "Yeah, that one is ok.....".  What enthusiasm!

With drull looks on our faces, we wait, staring at the tacky fall decorations covering the peeling paint off the vent lines.

Finally, our martini's arrive.  Mine looking pink and somewhat chalky.  Upon a sip, my face turns to immediate disgust.  I had just ordered pepto bismol.  I'm thinking they should have called the drink the "Pepto Abismal."

Finally before we leave, my friend discusses how she wishes she could just throw the martini glass at the waiters and just run out.  To which I reply, "Do it."

All and all, I think this place was fabulous.  I recommend anyone that is blind and deaf, and therefore would not be phased by the shittastic service we got at this ballsack.

We came with a group of 8 and all but 1 (myself) wanted to do the party package.  I told them I didn't want to eat but I would drink plenty but I was told that I had to pay for the party package regardless of how much I drank.  I guess spending $35 on martinis isn't difficult when the martinis are 10+ but you get tired of drinking like a fish when you're the only one doing it.   By the time my group was done eating, I had only had 2 martinis (they were super sweet and both tasted the same even though they had different fruit flavors) - I had to order at least 1 more to be even close to what I had to pay.  Downing a martini is not my idea of a good time.

Food: my group thought the fish dish was tiny (hence, overpriced) and these tiny girls that normally don't eat much were still hungry!  The chicken and waffle dish was a regular fried piece of chicken but the waffle was sweet and hearty.  The eggplant parmesan was the tastiest entree they offered - thinly sliced eggplant, perfectly breaded and cooked.

Entertainment: Madam X was the diva of the night - she was an excellent performer and we enjoyed her show and her colorful outfits.  Loooved the wigs!

Kit Kat Lounge is a fun atmosphere if you want a place to go be wild & loud & dance around with drag queens. I think that's great when you're in that mood! Thank you Kit Kat Lounge for providing such a place to get a little crazy.

I'm pretty sure I didn't eat their food, as we stopped in later at night. However, the speciality drinks are fun and fruity, so take a chance on them and try something new!

Great martinis...and good selection of them too...

Entree...was merely ok.  Considering the prices, I expected a tastier fare.

And the Drag Queens can be a bit much.  Although entertaining, they were somewhat of a nuisance, especially when you are trying to eat and they are trying to get in YOUR face...

I went on a Wednesday night for 1/2 priced martinis, entrees and a viewing of Top Chef. It was really fun!

I loved my cocktails and the chocolate molten cake dessert, though I didn't love my entree - ahi tuna. I'd go back and try a different entree. Fun times!

Here is the straight guy's opinion. This place is fantastic when taking out the wife/girlfriend/female wife friends...

It is perfect. Great food, extensive drink list, and of course, the floor show. I like to take my wife and any friends who have done the normal touristy things in Chicago. This Boystown restaurant has done well at mixing both a fun show and a really good meal.

Kit Kat Lounge...I love you on Tuesdays but not so much any other day of the week.

I'm usually at Kit Kat on a Tuesday for a half off martini, $5 that is, with friends just hanging out after a long day of work. They do have a huge list of martinis and they get really creative with their names. Kit Kat also has an awesome chicken and steak skewer dish with peanut sauce. Great appetizer while your drinking the night away on your $5 martinis. I highly recommend you try the Bloody Mary Martini or the Emperor Martini if you like bitter drinks; two of my favorites.

On Tuesday they also have live entertainment. E.g. Female impersonators perform at various intervals throughout the night to the likes of Whitney Houston, Rhianna, Gloria Gaynor, etc.

The reason I gave them three stars is because Tuesday is the only night I like. The weekends I will not be seen at Kit Kat because that's where all the bachelorette parties like to take place and I don't wanna be next to 30 screaming girls wearing penis pins and wanting to make a new gay friend.

Great if you want to hang out with 7 different baccalaureate parties... Although it is hilarious watching them hit on the staff whom obviously play for the other team... HA! Keep trying ladies! Maybe a few more hot pink martinis will do the trick!

Strawberry lemonade martini was the best.. my other drinks weren't so good. I think the bartender made my drinks with the baccalaureate parties in mind...too drunk to tell the difference.

The crab cakes were good. Don't get the bacon mac 'n cheese... Tastes like powdered cheese that won't dissolve.... whoops.. and bacon is nonexistent.

The show was great!

This place has great drinks, but most people come here for the drag show and it's not that great. The 2 times I've gone there has only been 1 drag queen who performs 1 song every 20-25 minutes. That sucks! I've been to various places in the gay community and their performances could definitely be improved. I think they should have more than 1 drag queen doing shows and they should happen more frequently.

5 stars for the incredible performers, but 2 stars for the snotty service and 2 stars for the high prices on weekends.

Yes, the martinis are awesome, but the rules about what you have to order on a Saturday night will keep me away. (Order an entree per person before 10pm and order dessert and 2 martinis for $25 per person after 10pm. We arrived 5 minutes after our 10pm reservation and still had to wait outside... in the rain for 20 minutes. The host was very nice and gave us a free round of shots when we still weren't seated after 25 minutes. Still, the shots were sugary and weak, and I would have rather just sat down. Not their fault really though that the table before us wouldn't leave. It was their fault that we got put in the back which is not a place I'd recommend. If making a reservation, make sure you ask to be put up front.

Came here for a bachelorette party on a Saturday night and about 5 other parties had the same idea. I get that they probably get sick of big parties of girls, but when our check came and we paid, our server kept insisting we were $165 short until I actually counted out every credit card stub and cash for him. I feel bad that he has to deal with so many bachelorette parties, but don't be a dick and kill our party buzz, man.

I'd love to come back on an off night and enjoy the martinis and the performers without all the crazy prices and crazy parties going on.

Oh, and since we were forced to have dessert, I'll comment that they were okay, but nothing special. The chocolate cake had a bit of spice to it which was interesting, but yeah, nothing great. Plus, their version of "dessert for the whole table of 12 was 4 desserts. Luckily we weren't hungry, but I still thought that was a bit skimpy.

To end on a positive note, the performers were fantastic and couldn't have been sweeter to us and our bachelorette.

On 05/23/09, I brought my friends visiting from Italy and Florida to Kit Kat because they wanted to see a drag show.  When I called to make reservations for 7:30pm, the host encouraged me to make reservations for 5:30pm because the drag show would start at that time and the restaurant would be packed.  We got there and the restaurant only had one table full of people and the rest of the restaurant was empty.   We patiently waited for the show to start, and at 6pm, I asked the host when the show was supposed to start.  He said soon, the performer was  running behind.  By 7:15pm, no drag show had started, and we had finished our meal already.

I asked the host to speak to the manager to express my concerns.  Our server identified himself as the manager.  Not believing our server would also be the manager, I asked for the owner Edward Gisiger.

I watched the server speak to Edward, and rather than come to our table to hear my concerns, the owner answered phone calls and welcomed guests at the door for 10 minutes despite having the host there.  Eventually, Edward came over and introduced himself.  I expressed my concern about being told to be here at 5:30pm for the drag show.  He apologized and expressed that we were misinformed and that the drag show was about to start.  I told him that we had finished our dinner already and had other obligations in the evening that we had planned because we were informed the drag show would start at 5:30pm.

Edward then asked, "What would you like for me to do?"  A good business owner would never turn that question onto a consumer, and as person who does customer service training, I turned the question on him, and asked, "If you were in our situation as customers, what would you do?"  Edward, the owner responded with, "Well, I wouldn't make a big deal about it."

His response not only closed the communication with me, but also showed his lack of concern for a paying customer.  I have many friends in the bar and restaurant industry, and they commented that his response was unprofessional and showed insensitivity.  Without nothing else to say to Edward, we asked for the bill.  Despite receiving a round of free drinks ($15) and $30 off our $200 bill, I left Edward Gisiger my business card and a note saying my friends and I will never patron his restaurant.  To this day, I have yet to receive a proper follow-up from Kit-Kat.  I felt his "I wouldn't make a big deal about this" comment proves that his management skills reflected his establishment.  Therefore, I will spend my money elsewhere.

By the name I was expecting some kind of underground, speakeasy, scantily-clad girl-dancing club (And I did see the occasional dancing girl inside) but outdoors was a whole different story!

Went here with a friend just wanting to chill with some appetizers and fancy drinks and was pleased to find out that the outside experience was less 'Caberet' and more 'Sex and the City' (or how I imagine SATC might be, having never watched the show. Let's put it this way: Our martini glasses runneth over.)

Not exactly sure what they were going for in terms of juxtaposition, with the original Willy Wonka movie projected on the wall outside, and...Weekend at Bernie's (?) playing inside, but honestly, who am I to judge when there are delicious $5 martinis to be had?? And so many choices! Asking someone to try each one of Kit Kat's martinis would be akin to asking a person to read every book in a library. (Though I'm tempted to give it my best shot...)

Overall, I think I liked this place so much because I was able to make it what I wanted. The outside scene is my kind of place, the appetizers we tried were delicious and you can't go wrong with $5 martinis. As long as it's a nice summer day and a night with drink specials, it wouldn't take much persuasion to get me here again.

Love love love the $5 martini nights. I had 3 cucumber martinis last night and they were amazing.

What I don't love is the snobby waiters and the expensive prices for non-special nights.

Love the drag performances.

But not quite sure about the Tarot card reader...

The food was rather mediocre.  It's a very sad occasion when you order a meal at a restaurant, and you realise that you could make way, way better at home.  The steak was okay.  The potatoes were...okay.  There was stuff in them, but as it wasn't that flavorful, I forgot what it was.  The asparagus was boiled.  Definitely a C-minus meal.

The mojito was excellent though.

OH boy do I love this place.

Came here last night to celebrate a friend's performance up the street. The weather was perfect and we were seated outside. I love how sitting out there is wonderful on a warm summer night.

First I ordered the "My Birthday Cake" martini. YUM. I had no idea that a martini could really taste like cake. But it does. Next, I had the "Samoan Girl Scout Cookie" martini. Equally as fantastic. I was so happy with both of them!

When the martinis aren't half off (Sunday and Tuesday), it can get really pricey really fast, but these martinis are so worth it as a nice treat! Highly recommend this place to anyone.

With $4 martinis on Tuesday nights, the Kit Kat is a fun place to meet up for a drink (or a few) during the week.

The martini list is overwhelming.  The Lime Drop was perfect.  The food was less memorable, and fairly expensive for the portion size.

The entertainment is fun, too, but boy, it's loud.  Not the best place to sit down and have a deep conversation.

Can somebody please revoke their liquor license!!!

If you do not know how to make drinks, you should not be allowed to sell any. My Caipirosca was made with too acidy artificially lime juice and my date's cosmo was cranberry juice (guess I am mistaken that their should me more in it). Any cent paid was too much.

Half priced martinis and a show. This place is always a lot of fun. Great to bring friends here and just people watch. The food is also very good. Last night we had the pork tenderloin and it was made very well. The pork was flavorful and tender and the sauce on top that mixed with the rice was great. I will say though that sometimes a few of the martinis remind me a bit of cough syrup so I just remember to shy away from them.

hahaha. This place is worth laughs, and worth going for everyone irrespective of your gender preference. I went here on a Sunday (apparently half price Martinis) for a friend's birthday and the Diva thing is flat out amusing. On the walls they play old 20's and 30's black and white films, which is pretty cool too.

Meanwhile, the martini's are absolutely something to write home about. I had a Samoan Girl Scout Cooking and a Coco Loco, and they were nothing short of fabulous (said in a boystown accent). Honestly, these were seriously good. Wedding cake was good, peach cobbler was good, really these martini's have a lot of effort put into them and are incredibly tasty.

If you don't go here to have a 6'2 black tranny in a red velvet dress shove your head into her chest (as happened to the birthday boy), go for the martini's. Either way, full of laughs and good times. I'd suggest this place to absolutely anyone, and heard they have some bachelorette parties on Saturday nights as well.

This place is good times. Although it can get incredibly loud inside during special events and also during the drag shows- so as a place to sit and have a conversation... it can be difficult. The up side to this though is that you can sit outside if the weather is nice. :)

The drink list here is overwhelming- they have an extensive list of speciality martini's which are delicious enough to remind you why alcohol is an adult version of candy. The half price nights are the best way to go- especially since trying only one drink is painfully limiting. :P

The food here is pretty good. It's presented in cool ways and pairs very well with alcohol- which is the real main attraction anyways. ;)

Great place to go with either dates, a few friends, or a large group... It's fun to sample each other's drinks.

HATED IT!!!
Skip this crappy cramped one show dump!

We had a 10pm reservation for a 2 hour seating. We were not seated until 11pm. The host told us which one was our table so we could watch them overstay their 2-hours while we froze outside for an hour!!
During this time we also spoke to the manager who first offered us free drinks but told him we had the $25 package SO then he promised to "hook us up". No such luck, he gave the birthday girl a giant drink and gawdy tiara and thinks thats ok.
Well besides a shitty manager and really shitty wait staff there was only ONE performer. The Baton Club is WAY more fun.

Never in my life have I been to a place where the drink menu was bigger than the food menu.  I've also never been to a place where "old hollywood" comes to life!  But you know what they say, "never say never".

Kit Kat Lounge was made for gay boys like me who love their drinks fruity, their food well done, and their drag performers to be fierce!  A couple of friends and I stumbled in here on a Friday night, and had ourselves a gay ol' time.  I do wish they played some new gay classics (I don't know how many times I say Joan Crawford's face on those screens), but that's ok because if you don't want to look at the screen, you can always busy yourself with the drink menu.  I'll definitely be back on Sun/Tue for half-price martini's and on Wed b/c they show top chef and project runway when they are in season.

See ya there!

Went for my birthday back in March with some coworkers and had a blast. We got to see Rupaul's Jade! Good times and great martinis!

I also went for the Mother's Day Brunch yesterday with my friend and her mama. We went around 11am, and it was empty. The service was fast and attentive. My champagne flute was never empty for more than a couple minutes as the mimosas flowed!

The food was excellent. I've always come for the martinis, but was pleasantly surprised with their food. We started with beignets...ohmygosh hot, fresh, and delicious! Next was a choice of oatmeal, salad or soup. I got the spinach salad with goat cheese and cranberries. Awesome! Next was our entree. Choice of crab cakes, salmon, steak, or french toast. I got the steak with eggs and french fries fried in truffle oil. Wow...what a big difference truffle oil makes. The steak was too overcooked for my taste. I was actually surprised they didn't ask how to cook it. It was still good though. Dessert was mini cupcakes or fruit. I took the cupcakes. They were ok. Nothing spectacular. Overall, good meal though.

We had the privilege of seeing the fabulous Madam X. She sings her own songs and is so friendly. She recognized my friend and came over and chat with us. Very nice, great costumes, and such a wonderful performer! We had a fabulous time!

Oh, also agree with previous poster....gratuity added on without telling us for 3 people is a little strange, but I felt worth it for the service, food, and entertainment. I was glad we noticed it, because double tipping is considered dishonest.......

The batchy I was with SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN. It was sick. We had an amazing time.

Great for groups--call ahead and make a reservation. Get the $25 pp package: 2 drinks + dessert special (they wave the cover charge).  What a great deal.

I was also glad they were able to make fun drinks for my ladies who don't drink. Everyone could have something froofy to sip on and watch Whitney and Allyiah belt it out. And they let us hook up our ipod to spin some tunes! Awesome!

after realizing yesterday that i had inadvertently joined a church league softball team full of seminary students (and playing my first booze/smoking/swearing free game), i needed a drink!  the fact that some friends were already at kit kat is the ONLY reason i came back to this shit hole.

same slow, bitchy service. same repulsive, overpriced drinks. same weak selection of martinis (really, the only martini you have that involves whiskey is a sick washington apple?).

ugh, i'm mad at myself for giving them more $. and the universe is mad at me too- i was only there for an hour and got a $120 parking ticket. STAY AWAY!!!!!!

1) Ridiculously overpriced
2) Ridiculously crowded
3) Ridiculously terrible food (especially for the price)
4) Ridiculously loud.

The only thing I have + to say about it was the martinis were expensive, but yes - they were good. $5 Sunday martinis are always a great price!

Also, the drag shows are excellent...the performers do a wonderful job.

I was taken here for my 25th birthday and I don't think that I would go again on my own.
