Still holds up.fish is fresh, service is good, atmosphere is mediocre but a good sushi meal, consistent. The specialty rolls are good but a little over-made and can be mushy though with good flavor.
Try it! -

The portions are teeny tiny but the prices are high. These people are seriously taking advantage.

Been going here for 12 years. Amazing sushi that others just can't seem to match. There's just something about their sushi that's turned me into a snob and has made eating elsewhere difficult. Always fresh, highest quality fish, expert preparation, innovative menu, large portions and delicious. In my opinion, goes up against any hot NYC sushi restaurant I've been to. However, if you want ambiance or white glove service, this may not be for you. The decor isn't bad (for a strip mall sushi joint), but not up to par with other restaurants with comparable food like nobu, koi, etc.

Kira has become a solid staple for me because it is really close to my house and there is never a wait. The sushi is generally very fresh, and although they have their off nights, so is everything else on the menu. I would say their strengths are the mango salad, the green salad, and the specials. Its all about their special sushi rolls, like the "Thunder Roll" with shrimp tempura, lobster salad, and an edamame wrap. This is not a true japanese restaurant, its more like fusion, but they do it up right and you leave happy without having spent a fortune.
There are a few cons - the paint job is so ugly - I don't know why they like lime green and orange paint, it doesn't really look so great, although the brighter colors give it a more "fun" atmosphere which is appropriate. ***Update*** They have decided to repaint, keeping the orange and getting rid of lime green. Nice move.
Dark loungy fusion is not what you get, so its good that they don't really overdo it with the decor - but the steak house, next door, is a different settting completely.
The service is really spotty - sometimes good, sometimes terrible. Overall, good food, reasonable prices, and so its good enough for me. I much prefer Haiku in Cross River, and Ichi Rikki in Elmsford, though. Fresher sushi, nicer menu, but more $$. -

Yummy and fresh sushi, which is a great relief to the countless Chinese restaurants that try to offer sushi. Get the sashimi platter - I'm picky about my fish and the platter was very pleasing. Plenty of other menu items for your friends who have squeamish American stomachs.

My friends and I came here for lunch one day to find out what was in Armonk. To our pleasant surprise, the chinese food here was the best we've ever had in Westchester. You'd think that food this good would often only be found in the city, but much to our dismay, we were pleasantly surprised how well prepared everything was. Our favorite was the crispy beef.

the sushi is very good. the food is solid but not as impressive as the sushi. the reason for the lower rating would be the service. they aren't very outgoing or friendly, and do not seem eager to deliver anything other than basic service. they charge for every little thing (spicy mayo, eel sauce) also, which is frustrating. service takes a long time when the restaurant is busy, which is usually during lunch.

This place is hit or miss. I would not recommend shrimp from here. We only go here if we don't feel like driving to a better sushi restaurant in the area (i.e., maybe once a year).

The sushi is excellent. The toro melts in your mouth. We get take out from here all the time but rarely eat at the restaurant.

It is my favorite place for delivery. Good prices and the sushi is excellent. The lunch special on weekdays is a great value ($11) for a roll, hot entree, soup, salad, rise and shu mai or 3 rolls. The dinner bento box is also a great value! Kira Sushi has become my favorite place for lunch, dinner and great for delivery!
