6 reviews for Kinyobee Japanese Restaurant
Okay so this place was a real surprise! I thought i was walking into a regular ol' chinese/japanese restaurant at first. BUT NO!
They have awesome awesome sushi! Prices are great too.
Not comparable to, say, RuSan's. But definitely delicious!
Will go again! soon! ha
Other Yelpers aren't lying by stating this is the best sushi place around! Yeah, it's tucked away in a not so happening shopping center, and yeah it has a bit of that hole in the wall feel... but the quality of your overall experience will leave you craving this spot for a great while to come!
You'll be greeted by a waitress and the sushi chef immediately upon entering. The ladies who work as servers are always very friendly and smiling!
They have a menu that will suit everyone, even if sushi is not your thing. Consider, though, that I'm not a sushi person and I STILL love their sushi!
If sushi isn't for you, though, I'd recommend their fried rice or bento lunch boxes. The fried rice is seriously the best I've ever had, even better than the higher priced Japanese steak houses. It is very fresh with a very light, yet appetizing flavor. I notice they finely chop cucumbers and fry them in, which gives it a "fresh crunch" if that makes sense.
The bento boxes give you a bit of variety. They have meats like teryaki beef and chicken. Served with miso soup (another "best I've found"!), ginger salad, and fried vegetables.
Another great thing is that it is very reasonably priced!
Kinyobee means Friday! So, some friends and I went there on Friday. It was of course, as good as always. Especially the service. The place was packed and there were 3 of us but we still all had our waters, sake, and beers within like 2 minutes. I was very pleased to discover that everything was still the same great quality with one exception. A slight improvement to the baby octopus. Whereas, it used to be just one medium sized baby octo on a bed of seaweed wrapped rice, it is now 2 small baby octo on a bed. I actually liked it better because the small ones seem to have a much nicer texture. We were all very happy to find that the famous baked green mussels were the same kickin' ceilings good recipe.
This place has definitely spoiled me over the years. I just can not justify going to any of those trendy craptastic sushi joints anymore.
Gah, I was afraid this super gem went out of business!!!!
I'm so excited that they are still there. This is the best sushi place in the US, I'm convinced of it since I have found no better place or even a place that comes close now that I live near San Francisco.
The white tuna, baked green mussels, uni, flying fish roe with quail egg, tofu rolls and asparagus rolls are all to die for. The green tea is also top notch.
If you order a lot of sushi or get the sushi/sashimi chefs special platters the presentation is a thing of beauty. They use cute platters shaped like shells or hearts and arrange everything so thoughtfully.
The prices here are the real kicker, they absolutely cannot be beat for such fabulous and fresh sushi/sashimi.
The sushi here is delicious...they have toro for a decent price. Worth the drive, I think this is a family owned joint and the service was warm, friendly, and attentive. Try everything because it'll probably be divine.
The girls and I live a distance away from each other so sometimes we meet in the middle. The middle being our favorite sushi fun house in Gwinnett. The ladies at Kinyobee are attentive, sweet, and fast! Some yummy dishes are: green mussels, Gone with the Wind roll, and their fried tempura ice cream. When you split the ice cream between 3, you don't feel so bad about yourself. Or eat the whole thing solo- it's worth it. It can't be bad for you, right? It's Japanese!
