Neighborhood: Northeast PortlandThis was my first Portland experience and it was great! The service was the friendliest I'd had in a long time. Looking around after being seated, my bf and I realized this was definitely a spot that the Senior locals go to. We ordered the country fried steak, eggs and hash-browns. The eggs and hash-browns were perfect. The eggs were sweet and after asking the waitress, I learned that they add a little vanilla to the eggs to give them a sweet taste. SOOOO good! Unfortunately, the country fried steak was not THAT great. It was homemade, the breading fell off as you cut into and the gravy atop was delicious but the meat itself was very bland. Though the chicken was disappointing, I do love the people who work their and the eggs....the eggs are amazing...I can't get over them. Definitely a do-over!

Two stars for it being what it is. A diner apparently aimed at the most sensitive of palettes. Because every bit of was as bland as could be.
I ordered the King special, consisting of two eggs (over medium), country potatoes, bacon, and biscuits and gravy. I think it was all cooked via heat lamp. As a person who appreciates bacon (I know we're hard to come by), this bacon was barely lovable. The potatoes had the most delicate dusting of seasoning on them. The biscuits were fair to mediocre (you decide), and the gravy was nothing to write home about. Though I'm happily writing yelp about it.
Anyway, the staff was not very happy to be there, with our waitress being harassed by another waitress for no real reason. So if you're feeling sensitive, or if salt makes you sweat, head on down to Kings Omelet for little more than sustenance.

The best place for breakfast in all of Portland. They are only open until 2pm. Its run by an asian family, and serves the best breakfast, real homestyle biskets and gravy, good ol canned cornedbeef and hash. The omelets are great. This is a real wallet friendly place with SUPERB service. Try the iced green tea, its fantastic. A nice, friendly place to spend some cash.
