1 review for King's Creek Plantation
The King's Creek Plantation is supposed to be THE luxury resort in Williamsburg, Virginia. It was cute, but not entirely luxurious. It did have a king-sized bed and Jacuzzi tub. However, it smelled like the last occupants were smokers. We had to keep the windows open and run the air conditioner to decrease the intensity of the smell. While even the smallest of our Worldmark condos have an entertainment center complete with a stereo, good-sized TV and VCR/DVD player, this cottage had a small TV sitting on top of the refrigerator in the kitchen viewable from the "living room." There was a larger TV set in the bedroom with a VCR/DVD player.
The bathroom was a nice size with both a shower and a Jacuzzi tub amongst the regular amenities. The deck, however had only two chairs and a side table. Even the larger size of the Cottage had the same deck furniture. The brochure states, "for your convenience, the BBQs are located between cottages" - right by the trashcans at the curb. Yeah, that's just where I want to grill my food. We're used to having our own personal BBQ on our personal deck with a dinette set on which to enjoy our food. Furthermore, there's no entryway from the deck to the BBQ, so residents have to take their food out through the cottage, out two sets of front doors, down the steps, and all the way to the street along the far side of the house, a rather inconvenient proposition.
King's Creek has three pools and four Jacuzzis on the property. One of each is indoors, but it is quite humid in both atmosphere and smell. All Jacuzzis have weak jets and no bubbles, ranging from warm to toasty in temperature. We were informed by various owners that it took about five years for the $2 million indoor aquatic center to be built at a cost of $5 million, though they were promised this amenity much earlier. They also told us that the jets have always been weak.
Resorts we are accustomed to always provide us basic kitchen staples like salt and pepper, a few tea bags and instant coffee, filters, sugar, creamer, cooking oil, cookware, and various paper products. King's Creek only provided the cookware and paper products. They boast of having many appliances even a bread maker, all we could find was a basic 2 slice toaster, not even a coffee maker. The kitchen was quite small. The drop ceiling does not hang over the refrigerator, making it look like an after thought. It did not match the style of the cabinets and cords are visible from the front room.
At 8 am we could hear the construction on the newer areas of the resort. Interestingly enough, the noise was produced on Tranquility Lane, creating a less than tranquil atmosphere.
