I WANT to give this place a great rating because I go there ALL the time, but I just can't  do it!  Frankly, I've been there at least 40 times... but that is ONLY because it is so close to my work.  And honestly, I'm only giving them that 3rd star because that creepy old couple stopped playing their tacky live music every night.

I no longer come here for food because let's face it... the food is not very good.  It's not awful, but it's not awesome either.  And I was once served a glass of water with a large dead spider in it.  I'm not kidding... this was no daddy long leg... it was a fat, juicy spider.  Gross!

So I now only come for some beers and watch a game on TV after a long day of work.  Their beer selection kind of sucks, but the girls that work there are so sweet.  Given I go there all the time so naturally they're going to be really nice to me... but I just love how they bring me my beer and popcorn and I don't have to say a word.  And every so often they'll hook it up with a free round.

This location is in a bar so except some loud, drunk patrons and loud music.  They've opened up seating on the non-bar side so opt for that instead.  Then there is the in-house music...

However, the food is really delicious...crab currry (OMG) and the red seafood soup are my new favorites.

Not that I hate King of Thai by any means...but for me King of Thai any where in SF? ..NO! Thank you!! Here's why..

The last time I left one star('zero' if I could) at King of Thai on Taraval St. after I found a chunk of mystery napkin mixed in my to-go food. I sworn to myself, no matter what, I will never stepped in any King of Thai ever again.
A year somethin later, my friend invited me to have dinner at King of Thai in Milano Hotel. My friend claimed that this particular location is a better version of the rest King of Thai. They offer more variety selections including exotic Thai dishes and that made me agreed to give King of Thai another chance. Boy! was i trapped!!
Yes, the food taste better than the rest of King of Thai but for the sanitary??? HELLL to the NOOOO!!!
Not only we have to deal with some retard waitstaff that just walk around mingling with each other ignore costumers. I found a black hair cooked in my meat. That picture stuck in my head till today and I can't shake it off cas It is just soo gross.
If u want  inedible surprises in your food, King of Thai honored to be your destination.
For me, like I said, NO, Thank U!!

Ate dinner here Friday after work with a homeboy after we hit up the horse, 111 Minna, and Temple.

Had the Pad Thai here which was pretty bomb.  Better than the Pad Thai at Straits in Santana Row that I remember.  They use a sweet tangy sauce on it that makes it go down good with.  Pitchers of beer like Fat Tire are $10 during happy hour.  MONEY!

They also got some cute Thai chicks working over here.  One of the bartenders here looks like a Thai version of Cassie.

They also had 2 folks on an electric piano and guitar jamming over here.  Place is connected to some hotel and is near the Union Square area off Market and 5th Street.

I'll preface this review by saying that my 3-star rating is for the few times that I've been here. The following review below is based on my most recent experience.

Inside, the place was bustling. Plenty of people there to eat, drink, and, otherwise, be merry. In all my past experiences, one or two live performers would be there for entertainment. This particular night, a variety of genres were blasting from their stereo system. About every other song was a Beatles song.

For some reason I always feel rushed to order when I enter any of the King of Thai chains around the city. About a minute after I'm seated, the waitress approaches ready with pen and pad in hand.

I don't think I'm a slow decider; I just prefer to peruse the menu for the best possible choice at that particular time. That night, however, my stomach was impatient and craving food, so I picked the first thing that sounded like it might be good: Spicy Thai Basil (with a side of rice). Can't go wrong with that, I suppose.

It took maybe four to five minutes tops to get my food after my order. On a side note, everybody here is very friendly; I'm always met with a smile. American-born waiters and waitresses can learn a thing or two from these establishments.

I started to chow down, and that was when the entire night would turn for the worse. There is no way for me to exaggerate how spicy the Spicy Thai Basil is. I normally enjoy spicy foods, but I think maybe the cook was feeling daring that night. And too much spiciness can make my belly rumble like some evil witch's cauldron from hell.

After perhaps my sixth spoonful of food, I knew I was at the point of no return. This was going to end badly. A few hours of quiet discomfort, only to culminate into a torrent of bowel fury the next morning.

I still had more than three quarters of my entree left. Sweat was forming above my brow. Oh well, I was going to suffer anyway, so might as well just get it over with. After slowly finishing most of the dish, I downed plenty of water and asked for the check and left.

This morning, the digested demons were expelled and I'm still alive. I can't say it wasn't a painful ordeal, but a lesson has been learned. Never, ever, EVER, get the Spicy Basil Thai. That is, unless you're a sadomasochist.

I've been going to the King of Thai on O'Farrell for years and have always been a huge fan.  The one on 5th Street is my new favorite location because the O'Farrell spot is too crowded and there's always parking on 5th late night.  I also like the Taraval location.

King of Thai turned me on to American Thai food.  I went to Thailand in 2004 and the food there was nothing like here.  I like SF's take on Thai food better.  Blame it on their cute waitresses dressed in lavender, lol.

I always get the Pad Thai or Pad See Yew for a little under $9 each and it's perfect, served without haste every time.  My favorite ingredient of the Pad See Yew is the broccoli.  I recommend taking your uppity friends here if they've never eaten Thai food.  It's fool-proof because the freaking menu has pictures for every other plate it serves!

It's only downfall is that it's "cash only."

-Jeff

I would like to add that I love the tofu basil....perfectly fried tofu cubes with fried basil leaves!  Yummy fried things that taste great with white rice.  It's served with that typical Thai chili sauce but that always tastes good so I'm not complaining.

I also generally order Tom Kha Gai when I eat Thai, and I dislike when baby corn is thrown in the mix.  Here, they did it....although it was a delicious soup, I don't appreciate the baby corn.

I've been to this location twice and the service is always fast....which is great after a late night and a need for a quick munch.  Warning: you have to go on a journey through a hotel lobby or something like that to get to the bathroom....

Yum in my tum!

King of Thai Noodle house first turned me onto Thai food a few years back and it has held a special place in my heart ever since.

After seeing the sign a few times while wondering around the mall we decided to stop in one late evening.  I was surprised to find out that KoTN stays open until late in the evening.

We had great/excellent service and the basic Thai dishes were fantastic.  Kind of Americanized I'd say but non the less really yummy.

We always go to KoTN whenever we are in the mood and we are in the city.  Since we've been raving about it we've turned a bunch of our friends into fans.  We should get commission for that...

Great place to wind down of your lunch break to get away from all the ciaos.
They sit you away really fast, and have nice big screen TV for viewing.
I enjoy eating in the main area, there Thai ice tea is so yummy in my tummy!  Almost all the items on the menu are to die for. I really enjoy the won ton soup with flat noodles. Thanks - King of Thai Noodle House

Went here to pre game for the Giants game. The happy house had $3 beers and $20 for the 2.5L cylinder. We opted for the 2.5L first. First impressions, I love it! Reminds me of Vegas. However, we had some question as to whether it was actually worth it or not or to just buy a bunch of $3 pints. Well, I think it works out to be about 7 beers that you get, so the cylinder wins out by ~1 beer. After the cylinder was done, we opted for $3 beers. They don't have a huge selection, but for pre gaming, it does the job.

Other than that, didn't try any of the food, but it looked good. I saw some kind of roast pork. Mentioning it makes me want to get some!

Washrooms are outside of the restaurant and are part of the hotel that is attached, so don't forget to pick up a key card from the podium on the way.

Will I come back? Likely.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to King of Thai once before for my friend's birthday, and I couldnt really remember it much so I decided to go there for lunch today. BIG MISTAKE!!!!

As I bit into the egg roll, I saw a BIG, BLACK HAIR, and the only way this HAIR could have gotten entwined into my egg roll is during the wrapping process before it got fried. SOOOOO GROSS!!! I immediately told the waiter and told him to take it back.

But that was NOT all....

As we finally received our rice plates, my husband started digging into his Yellow Curry Over Rice, but as he was eating his rice, his spoon brushed up against something that made a sound similar to plastic, and as he looked within the rice, he pulled out... A PLASTIC BAG... YES... I said A PLASTIC BAG... How the HELL did that get in there????

First there was hair in my egg roll and a plastic bag in his rice. My husband was pissed. Enough is enough. We sent our food back AGAIN, and told them, it's okay, we don't want it replaced, we'll just leave...

The waitress apologized and told me that it was "on the house".... well DUH!!! I hope the hell so....

The establishment LOOKS clean and well-kept but looks can be VERY deceiving and I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. The upside was that my meal was free but the experience was traumatizing and I dont know what the hell goes on in that kitchen but STAY AWAY....

I went here for dinner and drinks last week. Since my friends sing karaoke till wee hours of the night I knew we were going to be here for awhile.  I ordered a pitcher of fat tire for myself while they had wine and cocktails.

After polishing off my pitcher I was going to switch to cocktails but our waitress brought out another pitcher and said it was on the house.  Eh...never one to turn down free beer I thanked her.

This is some of the food we ordered:

- Pad Thai: Very tasty and included yummy jumbo shrimp. Best dish of the night.

- Raw shrimp with Thai chilies: The shrimp was sliced and spread open, then topped with a slice of garlic, and mixture of chilies, salt, and lime juice.  The shrimp was grey but still reminded me of ceviche since the lime should've partially cooked it.  I only ate one as the chilies were too spicy for me.

- Fried dry pork: Very tasty, a little salty but paired very well with the beer

- Tod Mun: Marinated deep fried fish cakes. Tasted OK, only 4 pieces.  Served with sweet and sour cucumber sauce and crushed peanuts.

- Spring roll: Filled with julienne carrots, bean sprouts, lettuce, and tofu. sliced into bite size pieces topped with hoisin sauce

- Tom Yum Goong:  Sour & spicy lemongrass shrimp soup. This was horrible, too much tamarind because it was way too acidic and sour. Took one sip and sent it back.

- Tom Kha Goong: Coconut milk and galanga broth with other herbs and chili paste.  Was very tasty, way better than their Tom Yum Goong.  Generous portion of shrimps as well.

- Sticky rice: I think this was nuked because it was very tough and hard to eat.  DON'T GET THIS HERE

Overall, only about 3 good dishes.  The rest was average or horrible. Probably won't come back here for the food except for the pad thai.  And of course the pitchers of beer and karaoke.

TV?  Check
Bar?  Check
Hot bartender/waitress?  Check

Food is on par with the other King of Thais around the city, but the atmosphere is less hole-in-the-wall and more glam.

Restrooms are really far away, down the hotel hallway.

My bf and I were starving right after seeing Spam-A-Lot and so we went into the first decent looking place that was opened at that tim e(10:30pm) and we remembered the sign mentioned that this place is open till 2am.  Going in starving we were kind of shocked this place looked decent.  I think we were expecting something like a hole in the wall since it didn't look great at night.

We had the fried calamari, pad thai, and the green curry with a side of rice.  Calamari was a bit rubbery but sufficed since we were hungry. Pad thai wasn't  as spicy as we liked but had good flavor while the green curry tasted the best with enough spice to it.  Perhaps it was because we gulfed down all this food in like 10 minutes due to major hunger but both of us kind of felt sick afterwards.  Luckily nothing major since I woke up ok.

The place itself is a little strange. Next door to us was still part of the restaurant I think but they had this Karaoke bar deal going on with people singing and everytime someone opened the door I could hear the bad singing.  It was all so random.  Huge place actually too. And apparently the bf said the restroom was inside the hotel and wasn't so great either.

I'm surprised to see this place averaging only 3 stars.  I guess we just got lucky today.

My mom and I spent the early part of the day shopping at Westfield and then walked over to King of Thai for lunch.  We were immediately greeted in a very pleasant way when we walked in.  They were very cool about accommodating our request for a booth by the window too.

The food we ordered was great.  Even to my mom, who is very particular about her food, she was happy with what we got.  They gave us fresh rolls to start and then we shared their spicy eggplant w/tofu and a green curry and vegetable dish.  Everything was hearty and delicious.  Also the service was terrific.  They checking in on us a few times, made sure our water was always filled and just were on top of it.

For an appetizer and two entrees w/tax and tip, we only shelled out $28.

Not bad =)

Its in Hotel Milano and is rather unobtrusive. I tried the egg fried rice and although I wasnt blown away,it was tasty. The portions are ample.Do come with the intention to share. My friends tried the panang curry (I think) and I did see them relishing it.

Staff was alright. Its located quite conveniently so reasons to go here are quadrupled. Its pretty cheap to boot as well. Im thinking take out is a good option too, I m gonna try that next time.

This place is great for late night eating and lounging!

We were walking around the city searching for some good eats but it was after 11pm and most kitchens were closed for the night.

We stumbled upon this place and the sign in the window read "Open til 2am" - SCORE!! We walked in and were greeted by a friendly face who sat us immediately. The Karaoke is separate from the dining area and bar. So if you don't want to hear the howling and screeching, you really don't have to.
We ordered the Fried Prawns and Roti and both were delicious. Although I especially enjoyed the flaky Roti and sweet peanut dipping sauce. We also went with the Panang Curry with chicken. This dish was superb! The sauce was incredible with just the right balance of coconut and curry. So yummy!

So if you're looking for good eats in a fun atmosphere, drop in and give it a try!

Great food. Kind of creepy atmosphere. Creepy in the sense that it seems to have this neon lighting feel to the place...perhaps..because of the neon lights. There's a karaoke machine in one corner, a pool table in another and a popcorn machine. Ever smelled popcorn in a Thai restaurant? Weird..just..weird. I appreciate King of Thai's energy but pick a theme people.

Despite the utterly confused atmosphere the food is delicious. If you don't mind punishing your other senses, definitely come here for the dishes.

Overall, decent food and portion size, though you do pay a bit more as other reviewers have said. So, I'm going with 3.5 stars, but don't want to round up and give a false impression. The "pad se ew" and "pad ke mao" are good here, oily just as I like. The chicken skewers are okay (kinda bland to me); the fish cakes are okay (a bit too soft); the tom yums (all of them) are good but not hot enough; the garlic beef over rice is good.

Late at night (after 10pm) is good to stop by here, as nothing nearby is opened (unless it's happy-hour, the only other time worth going here). Daytime, go elsewhere as there are quite a few Thai places within walking distance. Heck, even the one inside Westfield Center's food court. Park on Mission St and walk half a block over. You'll need a card-scan-key-thingy to use the restroom.

One of the most beloved entertainment in Japan that I despise with passion is Karaoke. Growing up in Japan, there were so many unpleasant memories of being accused of a complete buzzkill by absolutely refusing to cave in and humiliate myself to sing. I'm like the Cameron Diaz character in that wedding movie with Julia Roberts... TONE DEAF.

Why do I bring this up when I am supposed to write a review of the restaurant?

I've been to King of Thai Noodle House, more than 5 times in the last 12 months. I loved everything I ate. Yes, I was quite drunk 4 out of 5 times I was there. That's the only explanation I can give for attempting to somehow sing along random Thai songs and also showering myself with a bowl of peanuts. Luckily, I have yet to be kicked out.

I am biased because a friend works there, so we always get an excellent service. Since she does all the ordering, I am not sure if my favorite dishes are actually on the menu... but here it is.

1) Rraw shrimp with garlic, Thai basil and very hot sauce. One of the hottest thing I've ever tasted in my life, but oh so tasty and addictive.
2) Fried pork knuckle. Who doesn't like a crispy / crunchy pork skin at 1 a.m. after all the drinking??
3) Deep fried pork rolls appetizer.  Another nice greasy tasty dish that I cannot get enough of.
4) Laab with pork neck (I remember loving this dish... but then I did take a short "nap" in the bathroom on the same night.  Hmmm... I should order one again next time.)

Do not come to this King of Thai restaurant; go to any other one except this one. Just walk down a few more blocks and go to the one on O'Farrell next to Macy's, don't waste your money here.

As a fan of King of Thai... especially the original establishment in the Inner Richmond... this place is a joke. People go to King of Thai b/c it's fast, cheap, decently good and the service isn't too shabby. I can see the vision that the owners had with this place by wanting it to be more high end but it fails miserably.

There are 2 things that really make this place not worth coming to.

1) They charge about $2.00 - $3.00 higher for the same dishes that the other places have while the food quality is actually lower. I ordered the green curry w/tofu and it was about $9-something (and I had to order rice b/c it didn't come with the dish). At other King of Thai restaurants the same dish is about $7something and it includes rice. The green curry was pretty flavorless but I ate it anyway b/c I was hungry. Maybe they justify the increase in price b/c this place is larger, better furnished, has a bar and maybe has higher rent. If this is the case, then they need to make higher quality food dishes instead of recycling their original menu.

2) Rude, inattentive waitstaff. The funny thing is that while they ignore customers, all of the waitresses are standing behind the bar the whole time... gabbing to each other and talking shiz about customers in Thai! They're so obvious about it it's comical.

I've come here twice, one with my bf and once with my girlfriend. On the occasion w/my girlfriend, the moment we walked in all of the waitresses were staring at us, gathered closer to each other and started whispering to each other (there is hardly anyone in the restaurant so I'm not trying to make anything up here). Mind you my friend is a pretty blond girl and I'm an okay-looking Asian girl... apparently they did not like us for some reason.

None of the waitresses wanted to serve us. We'd try to get their attention when they'd walk by so we could order and they'd literally ignore us. My friend and I both asked for waters and didn't receive them until the end of the meal... we asked for water TWICE! When they served us our food, they couldn't be bothered to give us chopsticks to eat it with. You guessed it, I had to ASK for it and received dirty looks when doing so.

The service was SO bad, that we didn't tip them for the meal. This was not an easy decision b/c I'm someone who always tips generously but I was so offended and taken about by their behavior that I just thought... f$@k it, you don't deserve anything beeotches!

Wandering around late at night, my wife and I happened on this place after opting not to go to Mel's (what seemed like the only other after-10 restaurant option around).

Just got entrees as they seemed huge judging from other patron portions, and they were really damn good.  My wife got the Pad See Ew (sp?) which was super yummy and loaded with veggies.  I got the yellow curry with tofu and brown rice which was really freaking good, one of the best yellow curries I've had lately.  We got Fat Tire on tap - perfect.  I went a little overboard on the dried chili flakes and my curry got pretty nuclear, but it was still really yummy.  All about this place.  Probably won't see it again, but happy to have a really great Thai meal here.

Service really pissed me off. Food was okay, but wasn't as good as homemade Thai food. I might have enjoyed it more if it wasn't for the service. We were placed in a table secluded from the other normal tables where we would be easily forgotten by waiters.

My friend and I are Thai/Laos and listened to the workers and notice they were talking bad about our table. It was disrespectful because they thought we didnt understand and would talk negatively about us. If it wasn't for gratuity I wouldn't have tipped at all.

I think 3 stars is pretty fair! Its crazy because I actually go here a lot.. only because their open late and they have a full bar! Food is alright..not awesome! a lot of their stuff come out either not too flavored.. or too overwhelming! unless you just get the duck with rice.. only thing i really love from them! the waiters are usually drunk and they dont speak too fluently in english so they ask you a million times what you want! sometimes they take a while to even get to you! they seat you immediately, but thats about it..the place is actually very nice.. only problem is that the karaoke area sucks.. how can we eat and not hear ourselves think let alone speak to whoever we're with over the other loud drunken people? its not fair that we have to eat at the bar area when they should completely put the karaoke on that side! awesome place for you to go get wasted and make a fool of yourself singing karaoke! (IF YOU DONT MIND THE RUDE STARES FROM PEOPLE BECAUSE YOUR BEING COMPLETELY OBNOXIOUS!!)

3.5 stars.  The food is a pretty solid 3 stars.  We had a larb, duck fried rice, calamari and a fried tofu skin with shrimp and pork in it.  All of them were fine and fairly inexpensive.

The extra 1/2 star is for the karaoke.  I came for a birthday party once and that was fun but going on a random night, after 10pm, is better.  Why?  Because your group can sit in one of the side areas, hog the 2 barely functioning mikes, put in a ton of songs because no one else is paying attention and then "entertain" late diners with your musical styling for hours.

Why only an extra 1/2 star?  Because the song list is pretty limited, one of the mikes kept falling apart and you need a card key to get into the bathroom.

The food here is not as good as the other King of Thai's.  Portions seem to be a bit smaller, and doesn't taste as good....it just doesn't satisfy my craving for Thai food.  So why do I come here???  Happy Hour of course!  Monday through Thursday, they have two for one specials on pitchers of beer!  *gulp gulp gulp*  The food tastes better after a few pitchers of beer.  =)

This is the only KOT I know that takes credit cards.

2 Stars for the food, and plus 1 star for the Happy Hour.

This KOT is great when I'm on the way to the movies and don't have time to go to the one on O'Farrell. Never had to wait for a table here.

Unlike the other KOT's which are noodle houses specializing in really fast food, this one is more of a sit-down Thai restaurant, with white tablecloths and servers in what I assume to be a representation of traditional Thai dress.

When this location first opened they had a menu that was nearly identical to the other KOT locations, but now many of my favorite entrees have been relegated to the lunch menu and are a couple of dollars more for dinner. One star off for that.

The entertainment can be a plus. The night I was there (I believe it was a Thursday) - they had a guitarist accompanied by keyboardist, typical lounge music that was pleasant and unobtrusive. But once in a while the guitarist would drop this pleasantly jaw-dropping, face-melting solo.

* THIS REVIEW IS FOR THIS PARTICULAR KOT ONLY *

Nothing beats the very original King of Thai Noodle House that I went years ago, I guess. This one, I must say, is a complete sell-out.

One star deduction for NOT including noodle soups in the dinner menu. WTH, why do they even call themselves a noodle house?! You have to specifically ask for the noodle menu, which is actually their lunch menu. They'll add a few extra bucks to each bowl since it's dinner and not lunch or whatever...

We walked out disappointed with the dishes we had tasted - seafood salad (with no so fresh ingredients, composed mostly of fish cake slices, imitation crab sticks and dry veggies), yen tafo (flavors not strong enough; should ask for condiments and spice it up yourself), and drunken noodle (simply tasteless). The only thing that we liked were the actual noodles, particularly the texture.

Service was also lacking. Wished the girls could be more attentive, especially given that the place was 75% empty. We're not fond of the ambiance either, since we prefer places that are calm and relaxing...and this certainly isn't one of them.

Okay, enough said... One star bonus for the location, but never again.

To redeem ourselves after our attempt at remaking George Michael's "I Want Your Sex" video on stage at the East Bay Elite Event last night, we decided to go to King of Thai for some late night eats and to make complete strangers (instead of poor unknowing Elite) gag while we serenaded each other.

Although the karaoke selection is a bit sparse, I managed to pick out one of my favorite Mariah songs and he surprised me with some Sinatra.

Thank your lucky stars that you weren't there to witness us leering at each other lustfully as we sung to each other. In the words of Simon Cowell, "There were moments of complete torture in that vocal to be honest with you."

Upon walking to Westfield San Francisco Shopping Center, my good friend spotted this restaurant. He's Thai and in love with his cultural food- it always seem like he is always trying to find the best Thai restaurant no matter where he goes.

Though he was hungry, he absolutely love Thai Boat Noodles. After an hour of carrying my shopping bags, and perusing the food court at Westfield, he wanted to stop by for a "snack" before we met up with our mutual friend for lunch later. We walked in and was seated right away. A very narrow, yet spacious restaurant, similar to a sushi bar, yet perfect for lunch.

My friend ordered his "similar to" Thai boat noodles. I just ordered egg rolls. The egg rolls were so-so. The boat noodles were good, except it was served warm, while the bowl was hot (???) Go figure. As he seem to continue eating, it seem to taste better.

Prices for the boat noodles were fair: $6.25. The egg rolls were $5.95 for 3- not so fair.

Overall the meal is good. The service is decent- or was it because my friend was Thai so everything was a bit smoother?

A nice place to visit, but not sure if I'll come eat here again if I was in San Francisco- well, maybe I would since the hours are pretty good! Something rare for San Francisco at night, and I wish I found this restaurant a night earlier- then I wouldn't have to starve the night before.

I order pick up here about once every two weeks.  Some days they treat me like a "king" but most days I feel like the court jester.

How many times do I need to repeat my order to you?  Fried chicken over fried rice.  Pad thai.  Green curry with chicken.  N-O-T H-A-R-D, or is it?

The prices here are higher than the other King of Thai locations, the one on Geary and O'Farrell are cheaper.  Perhaps they charge higher prices for the really bad lounge acts that perform during the week.

Don't come here and order food when they host a party.  It's ridiculous.  I've had the unfortunate experience of picking up an order one of those nights.

They do pour a good martini here. I had the garlic prawns and a side of sticky rice. The garlic prawns were pretty tasty and a decent portion. I agree the sticky rice was kinda hard and not fresh at all. Also could have done without the creepy old white guy hitting on and feeding the bartenders/waitresses. I felt like I was in a brothel in Thailand or something. He didn't seem to notice the glaring looks of disgust I kept shooting him  . . . but perhaps I was too white for him to notice me. . .

Extremely positive or extremely negative reviews are easy to write. Unfortunately, King of Thai Noodle makes for a difficult review as it is neither good or bad; it just is.

My companion and I ordered pad thai and fried chicken over fried rice.  Aside from the pad thai being a little too sweet, there was nothing detrimental about either dish.  The phrase "did the job" is not often used when talking about food, but I believe here it is apt.

The prices are OK. The service was OK. The food was OK. The girl singing 90s songs at the front was OK. Would I ever eat here again? Meh, OK.

Some friends and I were out at a show Saturday night and afterwards, I told my inebriated companions "we have to go to my friend's birthday party."  I flagged down a cab, piled them in, and said to the driver, "King of Thai, please, on 5th and Mission."

Everyone in the car said in unison "King of Thai?!!"  And I responded with a slightly mischievous grin, "yup, King of Thai."

We arrive to a disco ball, giant projector, plasma screens, Karaoke (with wireless mics), full bar, and a pool table, with J-To's fabulous birthday party fabulously in full swing.  There was dancing, there was singing, and there was fabulous birthday cake.  Leave it to Jessica T. to choose such a perfect place to throw an awesome party.  Happy birthday lady!

The staff was wonderfully accommodating, the venue was a perfect size, and I got to order some delicious spring rolls and chicken satay that they conveniently serve until the kitchen closes at 1:30am.

Unexpected?  Yes.  Pleasantly surprised? Definitely.  And I can still head over there for a quick lunch during the work week.

You can divide people into two camps, those who prefer King of Thai, and those who prefer Osha.  I fall into the former category.

However, this KoT location is totally jacked.  While most KoTs in the City offer: (1) quick service and (2) cheap prices, this one lacks both.  One of my go to dishes at KoT is the duck veggie rice plate, which is normally priced around $8 or $9.  At this location, it's $11.95, and you have to pay for the rice separately.  All of the other dishes have similar markups.

We also searched the menu here for noodle soup dishes, but couldn't find any.  Instead, they listed lobster pad thai for $34.95.

I'm sorry, but the cheesy ambiance, bad jazz, and loud karaoke here do not justify the higher prices.  My recommendation is if you want KoT in downtown SF, go to the one on Geary or O'Farrell.  This location is a gyp.

This place is good enough. I have only had one dish so far, the thai style fried rice with chicken and I found it tasty but a bit dull. The one good thing is that the portions are HUGE! For 8 bucks I got enough for lunch and dinner! And its not far from the mall hence its not far from my job so I am grateful!

OK - Ive eaten here alot... I work almost next door and for a while when I would get really hungry with low blood sugar which makes me extremely indecisive, I would come here almost as a reaction.

I like other King of Thai restaurants but this one the food is just BAD!!!!

The worst thing you can get here are the scallops which taste like FARTS.

Also, if you like conversing with your friends dont come during karaoke when its too loud and just plain awful.

I havent had a problem with the waitstaff, they're not great but definately not bad.

Yes, and this restaurant is more pricier than the other King of Thais for worse food.

I would recommend going to Cha-am on 3rd st. Much better food for the same price.

For some reason, they were playing a little jon album which was turned up way too loud. IDK but it was a bit annoying
