2 reviews for King Bo Restaurant
When I was a kid, our family came here all the time, so I naturally kind of hated it.
Now all grown up, I still make it out here, and now I kind of love it.
This is one of the places of choice for the "big Asian family gathering" in Sugar Land, so you know it's somewhat authentic. Even more surprising, it also gets a lot of patronage from non-Asian families, so it's got crossover appeal as well.
I can't say I disagree, as their food is quite good. If you're going with a big group, order one of their pre-set meals to get the best of what the kitchen has to offer. They make an incredible peking duck, which is probably the one must-have at this place. I also love how after you've stuffed your face, they'll give you a free bowl of dessert (usually a red bean soup). Just keep packing it away, people.
My family and I have been customers of King Bo for quite some time. This review will be for their dinner service as I've never been there for lunch. They are one of the few places in Sugar Land where you'll find consistently good Chinese food.
The dining area is spacious, unlike other restaurants that try to squeeze in as many tables as possible. Noise is kept to a moderate murmur, and they offer booth seats as well as tables.
There are two menus available, an Americanized version and a more traditional one. My family has tried a good portion of their traditional menu. A warm bowl of West Lake Soup is a great way to start a meal as it comes well seasoned and with a generous amount of beef. Their Brisket Hot Pot is delicious and comes with big chunks of beef and root vegetables. My only complaint is that the steamed whole fish here can be a hit or miss as far as freshness goes.
We do take the effort to try out new Chinese restaurants in Sugar Land, but in the end we always come back to King Bo.
