For the most part they seem to take care of their pets.

I went here to look for some sexxxy betta fishs and noticed a nice selection of them. I got my betta here and now I'm obsessed with it. The coloration of my betta consists of red, pink, and white. To me, I think this color scheme is not as common and can't really find this at a local Petsmart. The betta fishs here can be pricy but at the same time, betta here are really colorful.

I absolutely hate the location, the streets around this area are ALWAYS busy no matter the time or day.

Customer service definitely has room for improvement. Reasoning? They hold their noses high up and thinks all of their customers are idiots.

We had came in here, and asked if they  had any colt coral. The employee pointed at a kenya tree and tried to pass that off as a colt coral. They look alike, but c'mon now!

I've been to A LOT of fish stores and this one is certainly unique. Every time I come here, it's the same vibe... Annoyance of customers. How are you supposed to run a business acting like that? Hey buddy, get off your high horse and take that damn stick out of your ass.

I would give 1 stat but they sometimes have items you can't find elsewhere (colorful and unique betta that you can't find elsewhere).

I absolutely hate when they get my money.

I came here with some of my friends to see their selection and was very impressed. They're betta selection is the best I've seen, although many of their veil tails where underweight and some had fin rot. The halfmoon bettas  had excellent care and where will be very tempting, especially the price.

They let my friend take photo's, and also didn't mind that I had my cockatoo with me which was great since I found a fish I was very happy with. The costumer service isn't the best, but it was easy to approach someone and get their attention when I decided on what I was getting. Would be hard for someone who is shy.

Amazing show tanks! They have a massive 1500g marine tank, and a slightly smaller freshwater tank that are both filled with massive and beautiful fish who all look healthy. They also sell adult fish and baby fish which is nice, since some people can't put a young fish into their community tanks.

Bottom line, if you know what you want you can see if King's aquarium has it, but if you want more helpful employees who will come up to you right away go for Dolphin Pet Village. Both are amazing stores and I will definitely buy fish from king's aquarium in the future.

My dad recently went nuts and decided to upgrade and add an an additional 125 gallon tank to the living room! He found a very nice one at King. I must say considering the high prices for their supplies and live the 125 gallon was a good deal.

The only thing that sucked was we had to pay for delivery. I mean damn, you guys just made a $1300 sale and you couldn't throw in free delivery?

Honestly, I know most the reviews for King have issues with the customer service but whenever I interact with them, they are usually very knowledgeable and approachable. Customer service alone, I give King aquarium 3 solid stars. Affordability....its still very pricey.

Over all, I'm still happy with King aquarium. Being a fish hobbyist is not easy and already very pricey. Its always nice to have your questions answered when asked.

I used to come here every so often because they would put up deals on facebook.  The deals were pretty good on the livestock, they have good prices on fish and corals.

However, the customer service...boy oh boy.

Let me tell you a story...

I came here once on a saturday just to browse around and see what they have.  I was wearing a pair of brown pants, a white t shirt and some sneakers...nothing out of the ordinary.  As I was looking at their fish, I could over hear some of the employees at the front started talking about me.

"Hey, lets all wear uniforms, we should get brown dickies, white sneakers and white shirts and just wear that all the time"

What the hell?  Here I was, a customer willing to pay for things and they start talking smack about me? These guys obviously don't give a damn about helping people out and are just here for a job.

Needless to say, I'm not coming here anymore.  King might be a big store, but there are better ones out there.

Nice store, nice location, nice variety (though some tanks are overcrowded).

The only problem I had was with some of the tattooed fish they carry ... very uncool, and King Aquarium loses major points in my book for that.

Prices are a bit high, in my experience.  But they do have some nice oddball specimens other places don't carry.

I also did not care for the display tank with the angels they had up front. ... I've say over 50% of the fishes I saw in that tank were too big for the tank, and had severe HLLE.

Can't say I'll be coming back.

I thought I wrote my review before when I got my turtle but I guess not. They have all kinds of fish gold fish, GTF, sharks, corals, snails, lobsters, shrimps, and all those things. They got the panda gf. Thats my favorite fish. I remember when I came they had the Koi's in the back gone! This time there was a lung fish and what happens if it jumps?!?!?!?! :( Fishes and things are quite on the expensive side. I got my turtle for 25, they don't sell them anymore. I am impressed by their lion fish and shark. I didn't buy anything so I have nothing to say about customer service, but 3 years ago they were great with my turtle, very nice to my turtle and helped me by letting me know what kind of turtle he was. His name was Goliath! Hes now dead sadly :(
Parking out in front but only one real way in.

Overpriced.  Their cherry shrimp (which aren't even red) are wayyyy expensive. They used to have baby turtles (illegal) and rumor has it that they had asian arowanas upstairs (also illegal), but they either don't anymore or are hiding them now.

Bottom line, this place has a bunch of cool, exotic stuff, but they overcharge so much that its not worth buying anything.

Oh yeah, the employees are dicks, too.

A real big place that has a good selection of fresh and salt water fish. They take care of them well, however some tanks are overcrowded. The staff are to themselves a lot, which in my opinion is slacking in service. Wish they would ask if you needed help or have any questions! Overall, I'd still get my shopping done here.

If you're looking for customer service then save your gas money and go else where. I asked an male employee, young enough to be in junior high about matching on-line prices w/ s/h. He replied I have to check with management and walked away. Okay, kept on looking and then asked a female employee at the cashier counter the same question. She looked down behind the counter and asked a male voice below / behind the counter. She repeated what he said, "depends". I said, " on what!?!" I can tell he was eating behind the counter because i can hear him. He didn't even stand up to talk to me as a possible customer. Long story short, they do not match prices with on-line. He didn't stand up til he thought I left.

    1. All accessories front & rear are way over priced, on-line is much cheaper w/ s&h.
example: they had the Hagen Fluval CO2 (88) kit $109.99, amazon $44.99 w/ free S/H.
    2. Customer services, might as well be in a 3rd world country.

If there was a negative rating, King Aquarium would have received it.......good luck if you decide to shop there.

This place is da bomb diggity!!!!!!!!!! The owner is not cocky like others say, he is generally a nice, funny, and cool owner of this fine establishment.
The fish looks healthy and the tanks are clean. The staff are friendly and attentive. I bought a clownfish about four months ago and its still here on earth with me. the best aquarium in the bay area. From the healthy fish to the colorful corals and tank decorations. Definitely a life long customer.

This is probaly one of the cheapest place that sells MARINE fish.

They sometime have really good deals like psychedelic mandarin gobies for like 15 dollars which is  a freakin steal. The service is EH, dry goods are a little pricey, not all of the employees know what they're doing.

+exotics stuff (sometimes not shown ;D)
+ Good fish/ Somewhat rare sometimes
    + Good prices on fish
+ Big huge store lots of stuff

    -Pricey DRY goods
-Employees are know it all types
-the owner is a badass hes really cool.

This place has the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I went in with my 4 yo daughter to find an algae eater.

I asked for help and a heavy set guy with glasses and tattoos started to assist us. I told him the size of my tank and what kind of fish I have. He pointed out some sucker fish and I asked him if they would be compatible with my tiger barbs and rainbow shark. He asked for to hold on a second and he would be right back. He walked around the aisle and returned to the register. He then talked to some other employees and went outside to have a cigarette.

I went to the front and asked the girl if someone else can help me. She got the attention of a guy talking to my previous help and he came over to help. My abandon-er yelled "Good luck with this one" to him. I was already irritated and now I was shocked by this guy because I couldn't have been any nicer to the him as he attempted to help me.

I shrug it all off and let the next guy help me. He ended up recommending a frog pleco as an algae eater for me. He said they have a reputation for not eating much algae but he reassured me they do a good job. I did research at home and found out they mostly don't eat algae at all and prefer meaty stuff. To say the least, the fish looks great but eats no algae.

Now it was time to get a betta fish and supplies for my daughter. I got the fish, bowl and stones and took them to the front. The girl couldn't find the price of the stones which I got from a box labeled $3.99. She sent my first helper or non-helper to check the price. He came back saying $5. I told her I got them from a box labeled $3.99. She actually corrected the price which was cool but looked mad at me.

I actually really like the setup of the store. It's big with a good supply of fish. However, many of the tanks have multiple dead fish in them. One tank all the fish looked diseased and floating sideways up against the tank. I've been in my share of fish stores and this was the worst.

I can't believe they treated me like that in front of my 4 yo daughter.

DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE! Very unprofessional.

UPDATE: The 2 green tiger barb that I got during the visit had a disease called Ick.  It has killed most the fish in my tank before I diagnosed the problem.

    BUY FISH WITH PARASITES HERE!

Nice cichlid selection and at a fair price. They have some knowledgeable employes who take their time to make sure you get the right fish for your tank. Every so often they get a bad apple who doesn't care what type of fish you buy and just wants you out, but if you know who to talk to you can find some good employees. As far as atmosphere goes and over all fish health and quality you cant go wrong. I have never seen or bought a sickly fish their. So if you want healthy colorful fish and at a descent price this is the place to go.

This establishment is located in "King EggRoll Plaza," next to Grand Century Mall in San Jose.

This is a good place to look at fish and get an idea of what one would like to do as far as decorating and setting up their own home aquarium. After that, you should leave. Just go.

I purchased ghost shrimp and clown loaches at my friend's request once and I am not sure how those (his) fish and shrimp are doing.

However, even with their competitive prices, my own experience was largely negative. While I enjoyed seeing all the different kinds of fish (fresh and salt water), I did not like the customer service. While I understand everyone's personality has its high's and low's, the owner seemed really arrogant, never smiled, and was not much of a people person, the 4 times I went to the store to look at the fish. Most of the employees are okay as far as people skills go.

They have a huge selection of freshwater fish available. I noticed they even have barracudas and I think the red bellied pacus they have look stunningly similar to red bellied piranhas. Pretty cool. They sell some tattooed fish with designs like flowers, stars, hearts and "I love u" tattooed on them. I wonder how long those fish will last. Not sure about  how that is done but I don't think tattooing a fish is going to help its stress levels and longevity.

They have many invertebrates, corals, live rock and aquariums for sale. In the back they have huge Koi "ponds" where you can pay 25 cents for a handful of Koi pellets to feed them.

Although the salt water selection is pretty varied and includes; Ocellaris & Maroon Clown Fish, Yellow Tailed Damsels, Cardinals, Azure Damsels (with the yellow belly, blue backs), Three Spot Domino Black Damsels, Blue Velvet Damsels, Eels, Angels, etc., none of their fish come with any health guarantee. You might be able to get store credit but refunds are not allowed.

Sadly every fish I purchased for my nephew's tank died within 3 days of purchase. I cautioned him but he wanted the fish anyway. My LFS doesn't sell damsels so my nephew decided to come here. Luckily we put them into an established quarantine tank, so whatever they may have been sick or infected with, did not affect the main tank. The staff will tell you that you need to have your water tested etc etc etc....but we tested the water for Ammonia, Nitrates, Nitrites and PH. Temp was 77F.

The ammonia, nitrates and nitrites were at the lowest possible ranges and the PH was at 8.3.  Anyone who has experience in saltwater aquariums knows these are acceptable ranges.

If you have to kill time while waiting for your Egg Roll order, this is the place to go, but I wouldn't buy anything.

At first I thought this was a good aquarium because the tanks were really nice and the fish looked healthy.  The prices seemed to okay so I ended up buying a few fish here.

However the next few times I went back I talked with the owner and tried to ask him questions.  He didn't seem to have the slightest interest in helping me out.

I later observed the same guy show great interest and help out a relatively attractive girl..... hmmm maybe if I go back again I'll wear a short skirt and a push up bra, maybe he will give me the time of day and a discount.

I also have to agree with one of the other yelper about the staffs customer service.  They typically act like they arent there to help you and that you need to approach them and ask them if they could spare some of their time away from their texting to help you out.

The only reason why this place gets 2 stars is because of its prices.  Also, the parking lot is a freaking nightmare...I've seen two accidents here in 3 months.  You'd better drive your beater care here

This is one of my favorite Aquariums in San Jose. They got a large selection to choice from and the fish are all healthy. It's rare to find sick fishes in the tank.

The people who work there are very knowledgeable about fish unlike petsmart or petco. If you need to get a specific fish that they don't have they might be able to help you by special ordering it from their vendor. That's the plus side of service, the down side is that they always look very angry. They provide service without a smile and looks like they hate their job.

If you plan on getting a fish or filter etc. you might want to go become a fan on their facebook page first. You get a good discount. I think it's a 10% or maybe 30% discount. I forgot but it's a good deal. Although I don't recommend buying the filters there since it's a bit overprice without the discount and they don't have a return policy so why not just go to petsmart and pick one up?

Overall, Come here for the fish and not the equipment. Feeder Fish is a good deal here 1$ for 10. Large selection of fish, you can special order a specific sex and the price of fish is reasonable.

It's a fairly large store with everything from tropical fish, fresh fish, turtles and well most things you could be looking for.  It has a great selection and the store seemed clean, the tanks clean, the fish healthy and well stocked.

The customer service was good, friendly and informative.  Though there are dried sea horses on the wall, they swear it was natural!  They even helped us bring the big biotank to the car and load it - not an easy task for a Jetta!

My betta is still happy and healthy - and might I mention pretty!
The biotank is working great and it was on sale, a great sale.

We will definately being coming back!

Fresh water - varieties: arrows to teacups to torpedo sharks, shadow fins.. bichers, discus, saber tusks, ghost fish.. just about everything.

Salt water - varieties:seahorses, octopuses, and angler fishes (anglers are rare), eels, jelly fish.. w/ the right amount of $$, you can pre-order the fish you want in advance.

    Love it here.

I'm not a fish person. My BF is though. I enjoy coming here with him and checking out all the gorgeous display tanks. We haven't made any big purchases here other than supplies for his tank, or feeder fish, so I can't speak much for the high prices. I'm pretty sure the owners of this store are ballin' outta control, though. Someone told me they're part of the King Eggroll family. Not sure if that's fact or fiction... but I wouldn't doubt it if it were true.

    Actually 3.5 stars.

I was in the mood for some King Eggroll on Saturday and asked the wife if she wanted to tag along. It was unbearably hot outside but we had the a.c. cranking in the G ride all the way down 680. A 40 minute ride to SJ was well worth it. The eggrolls were off the hook, as usual, and were oh so tasty.

King Aquarium is in the same complex all the way at the end and we decided to check them out. I've been here before and I like their selection of tropical fish and their salt water tanks and displays are really nice. I've been hesitant over the years and really afraid of getting a large tank because of the amount of care required to maintain a salt water environment so the fishes will live long and happy. So, I bought a little one!

We spent about 2 hours talking to a couple guys and getting their opinions and recommendations of starting a fish tank. Their knowledge was in depth and never had any issues with customer service. They seemed passionate in what they do and seemed genuine.

They had a good selection of salt water baby fishes and I couldn't wait to finally having my own lil fish tank. It was an eye opener with how much is required to maintain 3 fishes (2 Nemos and a lil blue guy). The 8 gallon container was inexpensive but then you need coral rocks, a nice lighting fixture, a power filter, a heater, sand, thermometer, salt water and food. Easily pushed my purchase beyond 3 bills.

I wasn't that concerned about the price since they were really helpful. For that they get 3.5 stars.

btw, I plan on going back to get a "cleaner crew" and maybe a lil lobster. I expect my experience to be just as good if not better. I'll send an update soon.

I been caring for fish and anything in an aquarium since I a little boy.  So I know my fish stores.

The fish here are great! Selection is good, they are healthy and the displays are awesome! However, they do have some flaws in my opinion.

They have illegal animals everywhere. Baby Turtles, illegal fish, etc. Their prices are pretty expensive from what I am used to (shopping in SF). 10 guppies for $1!!!! SF you can get them for 16 or 18.  Thats 60-80% increase!!

Bottom Line, they are the best in SJ, overall.

They sold us a scaleless black koi for $50 that died the next day.  They lied to us!  DON'T buy from this store.

I've had positive experiences here the few times I've been in (3-4).  Their big tanks are THE most impressive in-store tanks I've ever seen.  Theirs selection is off the charts, in my opinion, and their prices aren't that bad.

I picked up a big AquaClear filter here for $10 less than Petsmart advertised (and I say "advertised" because PM didn't have it in-stock!) - aren't the big chains supposed to be LESS expensive due to volume of sales?

They've always had whatever I needed in-stock, and at a price I was willing to pay.  Contrary to many of the reports, I've never been treated rudely.  Yes, I've had to wait for service, but so what!?  The store is busy!  I see that as a good sign.

This probably isn't your go-to shop for guppies or goldfish, but if you want something a little more high-end and don't want to drive to San Francisco, I can think of no better place to go.

So they've done a bit of cleaning up since the last time I was here. They have a lot more stock and have redone some of their display tanks.

Some of the coral frags here are a steal but I can usually find better prices at Neptunes.

One hobbiest friend of mine found a blue stalk Xenia here for only $10!!! They really didn't know what they had!

They sell some wicked urchins, octopuses and sea horses from time to time.

I like how they have some Pistol Shrimp/Goby pair deals. Pretty cheap compared to other stores who would sell them separately.

False Clownfish here are some of the cheapest in the area at $9.99. Aquarium Showroom matches that price but has healthier specimens.

Also they recently got a new shipment of Betta fish, lots of Deltas, Halfmoons and Crowntails. Of course there are some roundtail fighters, but they're usually not that good of a selection nor as healthy.

Oh, still lack good customer service skills. But what ev, it's expected now.

Large, busy store...super selection! Unique items like pistol shrimp/goby pairs, baby hippo tangs, and basket stars! They had some decent prices/ specials. I picked up a few peppermint shrimp...and am going back today for an unusual Mushroom frag. Getting helped when I decided  what I wanted was a bit tough on a  BUSY Sunday afternoon. I waited about 15 minutes to be helped & then the guy waiting behind me was taken first. Irked me, but it was a madhouse & not an intentional thing.

If you are into fish keeping, either fresh or salt, this is definitely a destination for you!!
Oh- Be super carefull...you have to drive to the very last shop in the parking lot and you are taking your car's  safety into your hands! I was nearly backed into twice within 1 minute. Learn to reverse people!

Healthy fish, good assortment of marine and fresh water species. Probably the best Bettas in the South Bay, including long-fins, short-fin plakats,... Possibly the only place left that still offers live brine shrimp.

Customer service seems to need some help. Its a big store but it still kinda lacks in my opinion. The marine fish are all sick. They do have some cool dry goods.

As nice as the tanks can be here.. As nice as the selection of fresh & water fish can be.. As nice as the coral selection can be.. The employees here can be so arrogant! Ugh. I don't care how competitive your prices are. I'd rather spend more money with nice people than save money & give you a sale so STFU dickheads!

I have bought some great looking discus from this place.  It was a few dollars more than elsewhere, but the discus at King looked healthy and thriving.  They have a great selection of livestock, both fresh, salt, and reef, in addition to equipment.  Sometimes you'll see a shark embryo or a nautilus!

By asking questions to all the employees, you can tell they were somewhat trained in fish keeping.  They have a good handle on basic knowledge of water chemistry and the compatibility of different species of fish.  Sometimes, however, I got conflicting information and had 2 of them arguing right in front of me.  To clear it up, they checked with the boss.  Overall they are friendly and helpful.

The owner is very helpful, though not very cheerful.  I was making a purchase of a few fish and wanted some of a different species.  Rather than make a huge sale, he recommended against the additional fish as they "might" not get a long.  He told me to play it safe.

You can get the same products elsewhere, such as at Petco, for slightly cheaper.  However, you won't find anyone at Petco/Petsmart as knowledgeable as the guys at King Aquarium.

This place has a lot of fish to choose froom which are expensive.  The place is grimy and all the "new" aquarium boxes have dust all over them.  I wanted a simple fish for my daughter, and once I selected the things I needed some guy from the store told me that first I had to put some liquid apart from the conditioner in the water for a few days before I put the fish in (I was literally getting some dinky fresh water fish) and the bottle he was giving me was for tropical fish WTF?!  I also wanted a small tank with a lid, but the girl there told me that it was too small for 2 fish.  These fish were tiny.  It seemed as if they were tying to sell me MORE than I needed.  I left without anything, these people suck!
