We had a retirement lunch today and got 35 lbs of beef ball tip from Kinder's. The beef was thinly sliced to tenderness, perfectly cooked (still medium-ish), and had a nice smokey flavor. Based on my one taste, I'd go back.

The fact that Kinder's can BBQ a piece of chicken and it DOESN'T dry out means more than you know.
If you're not feeling chicken, get the ball tip sandwich. SO SO SO good and they give you a healthy portion.
Minus one star because the kids behind the counter rarely know how to charge you correctly so make sure they dont overcharge you on your order.

4 stars for portion and taste of sandwiches
3.5 for the other foods
3 stars for service
3.5 stars total (i dont want to do the exact math so this is average)
mmm BBQ sandwich! everytime i crave for bbq sandwich i go look for kinders now.
The ball tip sandwich has great slightly smokey, slightly sweet spicy taste without it being soaked in sauce. Plus, you can ask for bbq sauce on the side to soak you sandwich in sauce if thats how you like it.
the bbq beef sandwich is also good. the bbq looks like it was baked into the bread or they stuffed the bread with it. comes with onions and cheese. yum!
chicken leg quarters are cheap and tasty. 2. 75$ for a huge quarter. tender and not dry. also ask for some bbq sauce (mild or hot) if you're one of those people who like slathering everything with sauce like me.
bbq salad is so so. the chicken is tender and good chargrill flavor but its missing the bbq taste component. i was a little mislead by the "bbq" in the name. its pretty expensive for lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and chicken.
the sides look pretty good although i've only tried the coleslaw which is good and not mayo-soaked or watery.
they also have some marinated raw meats you can get if you plan on having a bbq at home or just something for dinner.
something to try for next time.
Had a very good set of sandwiches there last night. The Ball Tip and Ribeye selections were both excellent. As noted before, the staff is young and not terribly efficient: we had to wait quite awhile to finally receive our take out food and there was only one other customer there at that particular time. The meat counter had some very good looking meats; we plan to come back for some good BBQ fodder.
Though they said it has been open since last July, we have never really noticed it, as it is buried in a newly developed strip mall where most of the businesses are still not open yet. Its immediate neighbors are all Asian food establishments (the kind with very little English displayed on the menus and windows), so we suspect it was among the first places opened there last year.
As noted, the food was excellent and there were a number of other things on the menu we want to try at another time. We will definitely be returning. You can call in the orders ahead of time (though they had no menus to take with you), a very good idea considering the slow service.

I've been going to Kinders for years, so I was happy to find out one was finally opening closer to me.
Like always, the Ribeye sandwiches are the best. Very simple, and perfectly cooked. That's all I eat, not too adventurous with other stuff on the menu.
Employees are young 16 year olds, which are typical to provide poor service. They aren't the old timers that you find at other Kinders who plan on retiring there.
It's hard trying to eat in the middle of the day: 3:30pm.
Cops eat mid-day also, three of them filed out as I was going in.
The menu is pretty basic: bbq, deli sandwiches and rotisserie. It's hard to read though, small type and perched high, it strains the neck.
Four stars for having a filet mignon sandwich on the 'entree' portion of the menu. Cooked to order and prepared at temperature I like: RARE. There was literally 8 ounces of meat smacked into a whole wheat roll. It was dripping and it was good. Priced fair at $9.95.
This place is always full of mid-day munchers. Not bad.

Nothing at Kinders has really met my expectations. They had a pulled pork sandwich on special one day, it was great! But I haven't seen it since, which is a big disappointment.
The balltip I had was a little bland. I had a half rack of ribs for lunch one day. I don't know if it was because the ribs were sitting in there for a long time, but they were very dry and bland. So I literally had to drench it in BBQ sauce. Their sauce is good, but I thought maybe they would have better ribs. Oh well.
The potato salad is good. Not the best, but it's a good compliment to everything. The chilli is gross. I always sub the chilli for macaroni salad even though I'm not crazy for macaroni salad. So I learned to get a small side of potato salad rather than the combo.
I used to work here during the summer when it first opened, and have eaten pretty much every sandwich on the menu.
I'm not really sure if this place is as good as it used to be.. most of the original team members are gone, and have been replaced with new people. Depending on who makes your sandwich, your food can either be really good or just so-so.
Yes this place is expensive for a mainly lunch place, but the meat is worth it. I'd recommend buying the raw meat and cooking it yourself at home--the steak is choice, so it's not as upper class as say, Alexander's Steakhouse's prime, but once you eat Kinders meat, you can never go back to Safeway's butcher shop.
I'd recommend getting the rib eye steak sandwich since as I said, the meat is the best. Kinder's is known for their ball-tip sandwich but I think it's just okay.. the ball-tip is almost the same as the tri-tip, so it's not exactly a great cut of beef in the first place. Same with the BBQ beef sandwich--both depend on the sauces to bring out the flavor. Also, get the filet mignon if you can! 9.95 for half a pound of yummy filet is not a bad deal, but it's only available on Fridays, I believe, and tends to run out at lunch.
I wouldn't recommend getting the salads, because you're really just paying for the usual iceberg lettuce stuff that you can get anywhere. The deli sandwiches are okay, in my opinion.. it's hard to make those sandwiches extraordinarily bad or good.
Overall I'd recommend the hot sandwiches like the rib eye and the burger. Ask for the garlic-jalapeno mix on the side! Also, you MUST ask for your bread toasted! If not, the bread is just cold since it lies on the counter that cools the veggies and it's pretty nasty to me.

I had the Rib-eye sandwich which was the reccomendation of the guy behind the counter. The guy was really friendly. The sandwich was good. It was a steak sandwich, not exciting. The meat was tender and the sandwhich was flavorful. The butcher shop part of the place definatly has some choice cuts of meat, but it is small and didnt have that great of a selection if you ask me. I am writing this review after only stopping in and getting a sandwhich one time so take the three star review with a grain of salt. I liked it enough to plan to go back for another try, so If you want a hearty sandwhich for lunch I would reccomend this place. I dont think you should be thinking "barbeque" when you go here, think, butcher shop with sandwhiches. Oh yeah, my sandwhich had hot sauce on it and I selected HOT. Next time I would go with EXTRA HOT, hot wasnt hot at all. Ok thats all for now!
For my 800th review I'm yelping Kinder's Meat Deli BBQ. Inside this place was a counter for all kinds of meats, and the other counter had the deli meats, cheese, side dishes.
I saw the menu online so I knew what I wanted to order, but still had to strain my neck back to read their really tall menu.
I got the Kinder's famous ball tip steak sandwich $7.25. which comes w/ mayo, lettuce, tomato, & Kinder's mild bbq sauce. I thought it tasted fine, though I needed more sauce to my sandwich--I drowned it in hot sauce. A whole sandwich is HUGE, I only ate 1/2 of it.
The Tall bottles on the table are Mild bbq sauce, if u want the Hot bbq sauce it's the short bottle.
Got an expired coupon ( & the girl let me use it) to get a FREE combo which is $1.50. It comes w/ small tub of bbq beans w/ cheese on top & potato salad. If u don't want those u can pick coleslaw or macaroni salad. I got the bbq beans w/ cheese & potato salad. I thought they were decent, beans were ok ( though I like beans), potato salad very generic.
Got also the Kinder's BBQ Beef sandwich $7.25-it's supposed to be tender beef stuffed in fresh sourdough roll w/ onions & shredded cheese. I only got the beef stuffed in sourdough roll..they must have forgotten the onions & cheese. Boring thing to eat, skip it.
Separate women/men bathrooms, though when I went the women's was out of service.
Credit cards taken, service can be slow so best to call in your order. 3 flat screen TVs all going on at the same time. Very polite, helpful, & friendly service when I went.

I can only review the deli meats/sandwich and the staff's lack of food safety. Both employees behind the counter were not wearing plastic gloves; which isn't a problem for me if they know how to handle food properly. Which they obviously don't since they both handled cash and then directly touched every part of my sandwich and salad when putting them together. The thing that bothered me the most was one of them was cleaning out a cash drawer, counting bills and handling change and then proceeded to help making my food with out washing her hands.
Needless to say this is a pretty unsafe practice and I ended up getting sick (I'm not completely sure it was from that but I wouldn't doubt it).
Other than that the sandwich was good and put together well. Employees didn't know how much to charge or even how to ring up for a side salad.
I also filled out the comment form on the Kinder's website but never received a response.
I love the BBQ sandwiches, especially with extra BBQ sauce. Turkey deli sandwiches are really good too.
The portions are large. The place is clean and orderly.
I can't wait use them for my next them for my next catering order!
By the way, you can find their coupons on www.townplanner.com, under the community name "Fremont".
The food is okay, but it feels too sanitized to be a real barbeque. Tasty enough. Better for takeout perhaps. Some interesting looking salads, and the butcher shop selection of prime meats is the best in the area. I like their prime meats, just not enogh ambiance to make it a destination.

I have mixed reviews. I'd give this place a 5 based solely on the Rib-eye sandwiches or any of the steak sandwiches. I have had the Chicken and Ribs with biscuits, baked beans and cole slaw. The BBQ chicken and ribs was ok, but I REALLY recommend any of the steak sandwiches. This place would be great to pick up mid-day. YUMMY.
Are you looking for a heaping amount of meat in your sandwich? Go to Kinder's to get your fix. They have things like Tri Balls on the menu. If you hang out with silly boys with a sick sense of humour I'm sure they'll get a kick of this place. It's reasonably priced and the sandwiches are tastier than Subway or Togo's. You can build your own or order something off the menu. Not a bad choice if you're in a hurry for lunch. You may need to wait longer if you order a BBQ sandwich. I plan on trying one of those later. I ordered a mini which was the perfect size for me so if you order a regular sized sandwich you can probably share.

Eh. Nothing amazing here.
Their BBQ beef sandwich is mammoth, but salty. They take a french roll and bore out the middle which leaves the crust as a shell. Then they pack the thing full of their BBQ beef. It looks better than it tastes.
The ball tip sandwich which they proclaim is "famous" is decent, but I HATE it when places put mayo on a sandwich with BBQ sauce. Ugh.
I found the potato salad here to be borderline gross. Just a notch above the tubs you can buy at Safeway.
If you're craving BBQ in Fremont, look up Southern Heritage BBQ. It's well worth the wait (there most likely will be one) but it's better than this chainBQ.

Good but nothing special. Service was so so. My coworkers came in for a big order for about 8 people (half sit down and half to go) and the guy kept forgetting to make certain things and to charge other things. He ended up charging us 3 times and when we got back, realized he STILL forgot one thing! I could understand because it was really busy on a Friday afternoon. Still, there could be some other efficient way? I didn't dock off too many stars because he was really really nice and apologetic about the hecticness of it all.
I got the Kinder's BBQ Beef Sandwich ($7.25) with potato salad/baked beans (additional $1.50). This is actually made in a sourdough roll and how they do is while it's still in the roll form, they remove all the bread inside and stuff it with the bbq beef, shredded cheese & red onions. It looks like you're eating a bread tube filled with meat. The sauce needed a little more kick and that can be easily fixed with the "xxx hot sauce" on the tables. It was a lot of meat; I ate the whole thing and was STUFFED! The sides were VERY mediocre... I think they should serve chili instead of baked beans. At least the baked beans had a bit of shredded cheese on the top.
My friend had the Kinder's Famous Ball Tip Sandwich ($7.25) and I tried a little and the meat was bland and dry. It helps to put a lot of xxx hot sauce on it but good meat shouldn't need it!
I probably wouldn't come here again unless I was REALLY in the mood for meat. They have other things on the menu too like salads, mac salad, fruit salad, burgers, ribs & even marinated raw meat for you to buy by the pound (also pricey). Still though, it has too much of a "big chain feel" and I don't like that. There were a lot of Asian restaurants in this plaza that had a "Grand Opening" sign so I may try those instead.

Balls to your ball tip sandwich, Kinders.
We went to Kinder's searching for a decent deli or BBQ sandwich in the land of CostCo and must report failure. We tried the signature "ball tip" sandwich. It does not consist of prairie oysters but finely cut beef on a sub bun with lettuce and tomato. The lauded hot BBQ sauce is extremely sweet and almost tasteless, more like something you find at Quizno's rather than a proper BBQ joint (I prefer some sour with the sweetness). The beef was also nothing to write home about. It was finely cut trimmed tip roast beef, but not that flavorful or fresh. The sandwich was pretty large but was mostly bread.
Not worth the ten bucks for the sandwich. I may be biased as last week I ate at the great Lorenzo's Sandwich shop (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) in San Carlos.

I went here at lunch today, and got the BBQ chicken salad. The chicken was very tender and tasty, and I liked the XXXXX hot barbecue sauce! That's what they call it, but it's only a little hot. The salad wasn't too exciting, other than the chicken. My coworker got their meatloaf sandwich and she liked it a lot. She gave me her side of beans, which I ate, and they were actually quite tasty!
I have to try a few more things here before I can up the stars. I didn't try the ribs yet... I hope they're good, though. They weren't out at lunch today, but I wasn't in the mood for red meat.
Also, I was only able to eat half of the salad, so I'm going to take my leftovers home for dinner, add some more things to the salad to punch it up, and my $6.95 will have gone quite far!
Edit on 10/5/07:
They cater their BBQ specialties... grilled chicken, brats, tri-tip, along with salad, potato salad, macaroni salad, bread & butter and a variety of cookies. Everyone at the office was pleasantly surprised by the tenderness of the meat, and they also brought (for us to keep) one bottle each of their three types of BBQ sauce! It was really tasty! I recommend them if you need a BBQ caterer. None of the meat was dry OR undercooked. It's like they have someone queuing who knows what they're doing!!

We undid an hour's worth of cardio and weight training after a 5-minute inhalation of the ball tip sandwich. I thought that was an interesting name for a sandwich as I envisioned something else entirely---somewhere between sports and male genitalia. But I digress.
Kinder's is known for their ball tip meat, and rightfully so. The meat is tender, though if you aren't paying attention, you'd miss the savory tissue paper thin slices. Bottles of mild and hot bbq sauce are on your tables for proper saucing distribution. The hot bbq sauce which I preferred was not too spicy so didn't overpower the taste of the sandwich.
Extra bonus: the owner/manager is a spitting image of Mike Shanahan, coach of the Denver Broncos. Not as hot as dapper Mike Nolan but he'll do....side dish to my ball tip.

My buddy picked up a beef BBQ sandwich for me the other day and I thought it was pretty good. He said he wished he had picked up the ball tip sandwich but he forgot the name.I thought the beans were alright. They except call ahead orders which is good because he said the line was out the door. I have since tried the ball tip sandwich and don't like it. I have also tried the ribs and while they have a smokey flavor the really don't do much for me.

Hm...it was just ok. Not bad....not good.
I really wished I liked it more because it doesn't hurt to have more good restaurants in Fremont. My coworkers and I have a rough time finding tasty food during lunchtime.
I ordered:
Kinder's BBQ Beef Sandwich w side of potato salad/beans- beef stuffed in a sourdough roll w onions and cheese. I also got the garlic/onion spread on it which is an option. I wasn't aware of it when I ordered, but it is actually an entire roll with beef stuffed inside, not a sandwich...it's interesting. It was just ok, I'm not a big fan of their bbq sauce.
My coworkers ordered a Rib Eye Steak Sandwich and a Roast Beef Deli Sandwich. We agreed that the food wasn't bad, but we probably wouldn't go back again.
It had just opened a few weeks ago so the whole ordering, food pick-up, and paying process was a little confusing. Maybe it's a little better now.
The only reason I might go back is to try out their bbq ribs. I'm a sucker for ribs. (Best ribs I've had were at Sam Taylor's in Denver, CO. If anyone knows of a great place in the Bay Area, let me know!!!) Hmm, I might be open to try that famous ball-tip steak sandwich of theirs.
But "Ball tip"?
I don't get it.
------
Update 8/28
I had the rib-eye sandwich which was pretty good and my coworkers had the ribs. Ribs were too dry for my taste but the extra hot sauce you can get on the side was tasty. I prefer the meat on my ribs to fall off the bone!
-----
Update 4/17
I had the spicy ball tip and it was GREAT! I would definitely come back for this.
Mmm BALLTIP.
Overall...ranges from 3-3.5 depending on what you order.

YUM! this place was awesome!, I had the bbq sandwich and it was great! too bad it was over 9 dollars for a sandwich. But I guess it's because the meat quality was pretty good, it's definitely a good place to eat lunch. If prices were a bit lower I would have no choice but to give it 5 stars.

I think some of you have been living in Suburbia-Land too long and forgot what a deli is.
I tried various BBQ goodies, I liked the ball tip sandwich the best. I could eat two of those. Except not now, as I write this - at lunchtime - at home in Redwood City. *sigh*
My only "gripe" is that I wish they served beer here. I mean, BBQ with beer what could be so bad about that? Pass me the Tums...

Yeah... pretty good!
It's good to know there is a decent BBQ place around. Mind you, not something that I'm going to drive 20 miles to, but I think about going here once in a while.
IMO... the portions are a bit small... I think that's largely in regards to the sides that you get. Granted that the sides aren't the reason why you should go to a place like this, but the sides aren't the cost-killers for them either. What I'm looking for is somewhere/something that doesn't remind me that I'm paying them for the service of prepared food and isn't too far out of line with the prices.
I might go back once in a while....
Kinder's is a combination deli serving hot sandwiches, deli sandiwches, salads and BBQ meats and meat market selling their marinated ball tips, steaks, chicken and ribs. This store is located within the new shopping center behind the Costco at Auto Mall Parkway and Boscell. As I found out from their menu, Kinder's Meats-Deli-BBQ was founded more than 60 years ago in San Pablo, CA and have now expanded to more than a dozen locations in Northern California and Nevada.
When we came in for lunch on a Sunday, we decided to try out their "Kinder's Famous Ball Tip Sandwich ($7.25) and the BBQ Beef Sandwich (also $7.25). Adding $1.50 for the potato salad and BBQ beans made it seem more like a meal but neither was very special at all. Drink prices were not listed anywhere on the menus, but they offer fountain sodas (unlimited refills) for $1.50. The ball tip sandwich was all right - the sandwich itself is a good size and the meat was very tender, though not a whole lot of it in the sandwich roll. The BBQ beef sandwich is strange looking as it had all the beef stuffed inside a sourdough roll with no veggies.
They have a small dining area with about 7 or 8 tables. Restrooms were unavailble at the time I visited. They also sell BBQ sauces and other Kinder's products, but there were no prices labeled or listed on any of the products.
Since this location of the Kinder's Meat Deli BBQ is still new (opened for less than a week when I went), so understandably, there are still a few kinks that they will likely work out in the upcoming weeks. The people who work here are nice and really try hard to be helpful, but they are still learning the ropes.
Bottom Line: Once they work out their kinks, I'm sure this place will be well deserving of 4 stars.

Let me preface this review by saying that I grew up North Carolina and also lived in Memphis for a few years. These places are BBQ capitals and, in my opinion, have the best BBQ in the country, if not the world. I will judge Kinder's harshly only because there are many, many so-called "BBQ joints," where the food is unpalatable and should not be forced on any unsuspecting patrons, much less be passed off as BBQ. It's more like fauxBQ.
Having said that, I was hopeful upon entering Kinder's new restaurant/store in Fremont. After looking at the menu for a bit I decided on the BBQ Beef Sandwich, and my fianc got the Rib Eye Steak Sandwich. We both also got soft drinks. We proceeded to the drink machine to fill up our cups with Dr. Pepper, the nectar of the Gods. However, our drink needs were dashed. Not only was the drink machine out of Dr. Pepper syrup, but they didn't have any in reserve. Needless to say we got our money back for the drinks; this oversight is completely inexcusable for any quality restaurant.
My fianc and I sat down and began to look around the establishment. We saw that they sell raw meats and deli products. The item that struck me as the most outrageous was that they were charging approximately $5 per pound for bacon that did not seem all that special: thick cut with or without pepper.
My fianc and I sat and talked and sat and talked some more. We sat there a little over half an hour before they brought out our two sandwiches. I have one question: Honestly how long does it take to make two sandwiches.
Adding insult to injury my BBQ sandwich was not even hot; it was lukewarm at best. Upon biting into the sandwich I was sorely disappointed. The bread was not crispy but chewy, and the inside was soggy because the sandwich had undoubtedly been sitting around for a while, probably the entire time we waited. The taste, the taste was...a weak conglomeration of chili flavored tomato-ish "sauce" drowning shredded beef and topped off with mediocre cheddar cheese. The taste was improved only slightly by their supposed "award winning" BBQ sauce in both mild and hot varieties.
The first rule of BBQ is not to drown your "well cooked" meat in a generic chili flavored, tomato based sauce to make it a gloopy, sloppy mess. A true shredded beef BBQ sandwich should have the shredded beef stand alone with its individual juiciness with a seasoning of smoke and dry rub. Then it should have the sauce and possibly cheese added only to enhance the flavors of the sandwich as a whole. The second rule of a BBQ sandwich is not to let it sit on the bread on too long before serving because it will become soggy. The BBQ sandwich is messy enough without the added messiness of a soggy, crumbling bun.
To sum up, Kinder's "BBQ" is actually faux-BQ; it is a barely palatable mess of bad flavors. Having won awards west of the Mississippi, namely John Ascuaga's Best of the West, apparently means nothing of talent or taste. I miss my Memphis BBQ and Memphis in May.
I would like to challenge Kinder's BBQ to a showing at Memphis in May, a world-class BBQ event. Unlike the casino sponsored event where they received an award. I doubt that they would even place in any of the categories at Memphis in May.
well my turn to yelp and this place was good like 6 mos. ago had the ball sandwich then this time ribs and hot link sandwich. ribs where old and cold and needed to be cooked more (awful) the hot link was nothing great. i think its owned by the same cheap East Indian that owns TOGO's on grimmer. well i know one thing if you eat in Fremont you will get screwed for sure and i lived here for 40 years. 2 thumbs down ------ Jeff

The fiance and I were about to go to Costco when a bit of the hungries hit us. So instead of getting the usual Costco Food, we decided to give Kinder's Meat Deli BBQ.
Kinder's is an upscale cross between old fashion butcher and deli. I have to say the interior is much nicer than anything you would get at a butcher or deli. The place is clean big, with their famous BBQ sauce on each of the tables and they had 2 flat screen TVs playing the game. They offer sandwiches, bbq, and their product line of sauces and rubs.
We were greeted with a large board with all of their options. You have 3 basic options here, Hot Sandwiches (Hot Links, Burgers, Chicken, Beef) which will cost your around $7 - $9, Deli Sandwiches (sliced deli meats such as roast beef, turkey, and salami) $5 - $7, and some of their BBQ menu which had ribs & chicken that was $12 - $15. They also offer here soups and salads too.
The fiance got their veggie deli sandwich and I got the smoked turkey deli sandwich. The kid behind the counter took our order and we found a nice small table. We wait for probably about 10 minutes and I I went to check on the sandwiches and saw the kid was just getting started on them. It looked like there were probably 4-5 people working there and about 4-5 customers so don't understand why we just started on our sandwiches.
I sat down and waited another 5 minutes before he came out with them. Both sandwiches were stacked. My smoked turkey tasted really good and you can tell both the rye bread and turkey was fresh. In fact all of the ingredients tasted fresh. I just wished my sandwich had some peppers, onions, and mustard on it. The Fiance's really liked her sandwich. She said she like it because it wasn't your traditional veggie sandwich, nice fresh produce, and the cream cheese and walnuts added something special to it. We did try some of their BBQ sauce, and I have to say it was pretty good.
I was able to finish my sandwich, the fiance had to get a box for the other half of hers. We ended up paying about $15 including tip for 2 good size sandwiches and water. As to rating, I do like the fact that everything here tasted fresh, from the meat, to the cheese, to the bread, to the veggies. Even the BBQ was good and definitely consider buying it the next time as a sauce the next time I BBQ. Just that the service here was so slow. I mean, 15 minutes for 2 sandwiches when you have a 1employee to 1 customer ration is really really slow. I also wish they added more veggies to my sandwich and that it had onions, peppers, and mustard. I guess I just assumed it came with all of that since the kid didn't ask me about what I wanted on my sandwich other than type of bread and cheese. Last gripe, though the quality is definitely there, $15 for 2 sandwiches seem a bit much to me. You could get 2 12 inch sandwiches, 2 sodas, and 2 bags of chips for that much money at Subway or Togos (though again, I will say the Kinder's quality is far superior). So overall with good food but slow service gets Kinder's a 3 star rating and worth a consideration the next time you're in the area.

Kinder's Meat Deli BBQ originated in Richmond, CA.
Until just recently, this "chain" or restaurants was family owned, and they only had 2 locations.
Since they've become franchised, they've blown up everywhere, with one of the locations right here in Fremont!
The Kinder's in Hercules, CA is it's best location. I used to work right next door to it.
OK, on to THIS location. Granted, it's only been open for maybe 2 weeks or something. Granted, everyone behind the counter is still new, and doesn't know the lingo yet.
The place is small, I know for a fact, that when business picks up, the lines are going to be out the door, because there's just absolutely know room to stand around in here.
I had a Hot Pastrami sandwich, which was welcomed with looks of confusion by the girl behind the counter ("Uhh, the only way we can make it a Hot Pastrami, is to microwave it")... I miss Hercules, they knew how to make a sandwich!
Albeit, prices are high, but it's understandable once you get to know Kinder's for it's meat. They use really high quality meat, and also sell it. You could probably buy the same types of meat at a regular store, but they just won't taste the same as the ones from Kinder's.
I bumped my stars from 3 to 4, just because I have fond memories of the Hercules location. I know that once this places gets into it's groove, they'll be a perfectly well oiled machine...

4 stars for the Ball-tip sandwich. The meat is very tender and the bread is very soft, that's a good combo.
3 stars for the sides. The BBQ beans are more like a mix of chili and mexican style whole beans. Not bad, but certainly not good BBQ beans.
2 stars for the ribs. They are not very meaty and the meat is dry. Very dry. The ribs were well seasoned, they use a fairly spicy rub. The sauce wasn't great and I couldn't tell the difference between the normal and hot. They have shelves lined with bottled sauce that they sell, I'll stick with stubbs or Bulls eye.
No real service, you order at the counter and they call you up to pick up your food. The girl working there was friendly.
Overall it is a 3 star lunch place. I'll be back for the ball-tip. I think I need to buy a new smoker and start making ribs myself again.
Went there tonight, Saturday, at 6:00PM. They were completely out of ribs, the thing we had driven across town to find. Running out of ribs on a Saturday, a prime night for people to eat out, is exceedingly dumb. We left. I don't know if we'll be back or not, because now they've convinced us that they're stupid.
After reading reviews about this in other forums, I decided to give this place a try despite the fact that I knew how much the sandwiches would be. Thats the reason why I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5. I had the famous ball tip sandwich and my mom had the deli combo. If it wasn't for the BBQ sauce, this place would be like going to Quiznos or something. I grabbed a bottle of both the mild and hot BBQ sauces and both were delicious add-ons to every bite of my sandwich. I even tried a bite of my moms and the sauce made it even better than it already was. Never got around to trying the XXXXX hot sauce because there was only one bottle going around and some group was already hogging it.
Despite the price, I was satisfied with my sandwich. Normally I eat chips with my sandwiches, but this one didn't even need chips to go with it. I'd go back here again, but its not like "I gotta have it again... right now" status.
I had a pretty good time at Kinder's. I ordered their famous ball tip, the sandwich itself was great as a whole. But the bread felt a little awkward. Either way, the side of beans and potato salad are not worth your $1.50. The manager did bring out some ribs for the customers to try. And if I were to rate the ribs I would give it all five of my stars, but I'm not... so no fifth star. Overall it is a little pricey, but the employees are super nice. As an added bonus, if you want them to bring your food to you, pretend to not hear them as they are calling out your name, and if they see where you're sitting they'll bring it over (hopefully) or yell louder.
if i could, i'd rate this place a no go zero!!!!
so my hommie worked here until the boss went nuts on his ass and he quit on the spot.
a few of their secrets consits of=
used meats from the previous day.
oh you wonda why yo ribs r dry?
its cuz the owner is a cheap ass and he uses the ones from the day before!
they dont always smoke their ribs, low and slow my ass.
i came in one time to buy a full rack and it was dry as hell. i asked the indian man to give me fresh ones and i got denied. what a dumb fuck. and he thought i wouldn't post this and let the whole world know??
dont come here. shits over priced; foods not that great either. you might as well go to texas road house. the workers suck ass too. i heard everyone has been quitting; which means new people who dont know what the hek they are doing and they succ!
oh one time the owner was offering hot link samples which fell on the ground and he put it on the grill to kill the bacteria. dont come here you dont know what you are eating. sick.
I didn't really enjoy my sandwich here, but I think it may have something to do with the fact that they have only been open a couple of days, because apparently this place is supposed to be really good according to reviews on yelp for their other locations. Their menu is extremely appetizing too. I am going to wait a couple weeks and go back, because it just seems weird that they'd get so many positive reviews, as well as being a Bay Area celebrity favorite, and NOT be good... right?
Their menu consists of barbequed meat sandiwiches, including steak, hot links and barbequed chicken. They also have a good variety of salads (none of them healthy) and sides, such as cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans and garlic marinated mushrooms. We tried the "famous" ball tip sandwich and the shredded beef sandwich. The shredded beef sandwich was a little weird in the sense that the bread was hollowed out like a burrito and stuffed with spicy braised beef, shredded cheese and supposedly, onions- which I didn't see. It was quite good, but you have to be a real carnivore to really enjoy it. I could only take a few bites without feeling like it was overdoing it- the thing was the size of a small dog, and it was all meat!!! The ball tip sandwich was good, but kind of bland and the bread was cold. The beans were ok, and the potato salad was ok, as well.. but not good! I really think that all of this is because they just opened. On the bright side, the portions are good, the prices are really reasonable and the service is friendly. Check it out!

I looooooooooooove the pulled pork sandwich! It's the BEST! Pulled pork sandwich with a side of potato salad and chilli. The potato salad isn't signature, but it's very fitting. It's pretty good... well seasoned. Chilli I don't really care for. They could do without.
3 stars.....My review is based on my only visit to Kinders about 2 weeks ago. We got the special ball tip beef sandwich and the chicken club. Both sandwiches were very good. The club had thick bacon, chicken was okay, nice juicy sauce made the sandwich nice and moist and tasty. The beef in the ball tip was really good too. Forget the extra $1.50 for the beans and macaroni salad. They weren't that good or tasty. You'll end up spending about $10 for a sandwich and soda, which I think is kinda of pricey. But you'll get a pretty good sandwich.
